Cuyo binary goes with makepkg to /usr/games instead of /usr/bin
Hi,
I'm trying to write PKGBUILD for the game Cuyo. In the final package, the binary goes always to /usr/games instead of /usr/bin. I'm pretty new to this and I can't figure out, how to change it Can anyone tell me, or give an advice? Thanx
-------------------------PKGBUILD-----------------------
pkgname=cuyo
pkgver=2.1.0beta1
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Cuyo is a Tetris-style puzzle game for up to two players with a twist"
arch=(i686)
url="http://www.karimmi.de/cuyo/"
license=('GPL')
groups=()
depends=('sdl_mixer' 'sdl_image')
makedepends=()
provides=()
conflicts=()
replaces=()
backup=()
options=()
install=
source=(http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/cuyo/$pkgname-2.~-1.0~beta1.tar.gz)
noextract=()
md5sums=('2c49f8b2111be4bdd86163b2be4a9485')
build() {
cd "$startdir/src/$pkgname-2.~-1.0~beta1"
./configure --prefix=/usr
make || return 1
make DESTDIR="$startdir/pkg" install
That helped me Now its looks like this:
-------------------------PKGBUILD-----------------------
pkgname=cuyo
pkgver=2.1.0beta1
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Cuyo is a Tetris-style puzzle game for up to two players with a twist"
arch=(i686)
url="http://www.karimmi.de/cuyo/"
license=('GPL')
groups=()
depends=('sdl_mixer' 'sdl_image')
makedepends=()
provides=()
conflicts=()
replaces=()
backup=()
options=()
install=
source=(http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/cuyo/$pkgname-2.~-1.0~beta1.tar.gz)
noextract=()
md5sums=('2c49f8b2111be4bdd86163b2be4a9485')
build() {
cd "$startdir/src/$pkgname-2.~-1.0~beta1"
./configure --prefix=/usr
make || return 1
make DESTDIR="$startdir/pkg" install
mkdir $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
mv $startdir/pkg/usr/games/$pkgname $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
rm -r $startdir/pkg/usr/games
Can someone more experienced in this please tell me, if it's right and clean way or not?
Thanx anyway )

CompileXIB /usr/bin/ibtool failed with exit code 255
Hi
We have several build machines located at different sites. Recently all the machines, on one site, started to fail with this error
/usr/bin/ibtool failed with exit code 255
during a CompileXIB of a updated file. By reverting the change line by line I discovered that the issue was caused by
<customView appearanceType="lightContent" translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints="NO" id="119" customClass="CSIWhiteBackgroundHeaderView">
where the text in red was recently added. If I remove the appearanceType the build succeeds.
But I can't understand why this is only affecting some of our build machines. All of them are using XCode version 5.0.2 (5A3005). Furthermore this change has not affected the developers workstations.
The committer usd XCode 5.1. But if appearanceType was specific to XCode 5.1 I would expect all the builders to complain.
To resolve this problem I tried a deep clean (i.e. Hold alt - Clean Build Folder ...) & I manually delete all the dervived data in /Users/<myuser>/Library/Developer/XCode/DervivedData. But this had no impact.
Another difference between the machines is the OS. The failing builds are on OSX 10.8.4. The successful ones are on 10.9.
Any ideas?
Regards
ShaneOur company has just moved from Xcode 4.6.3 to Xcode 5.0.2 and have experienced the exact same issue. Sometimes everything builds fine, sometimes it will give that xib file error. The xibs failing are not always the same.

Missing binary in /usr/bin/
I am trying to get MySQL running on my computer, but the mysql binary is missing from my /usr/bin/ directory. I've tried installing from the standard repositories and compiling myself from ABS, but it never appears.
Where can I get this file? Is this part of some other package? The pkgbuild file for MySQL doesn't seem to mention it.The binary I'm looking for is apparently owned by another package. How do I find out which one?
I'd use pacman -Qo /usr/bin/mysql but it doesn't exist...

Missing /usr/bin/reboot
i use GNOME and arch is up to date as it can be after doing a "pacman -Syu".
when i use GNOME's shutdown-dialog to reboot the system, GNOME and X stop as they should, but then the system gives a message, "Command failed /usr/bin/reboot" and a short description that it wasn't found.
the system then takes a short breath of about 5-10 seconds and reboots as it should.
well, there is no /usr/bin/reboot on my harddisk, just /sbin/reboot...why?
had the same thing some days ago on another system. was /usr/bin/reboot removed during one of the last updates and GNOME still tries to use it instead of /sbin/reboot?
Thanks!
Cheers!I had this problem as well and couldn't work out what I had done wrong - I hadn't been fiddling with any settings, honest. Anyway, it first occurred last Saturday when I shutdown my PC after these updates:
[2008-02-02 07:49] synchronizing package lists
[2008-02-02 07:49] starting full system upgrade
[2008-02-02 07:50] upgraded bash (3.2.025-4 -> 3.2.033-2)

filesystem: 775 package: 755
[2008-02-02 07:50] upgraded filesystem (2007.11-3 -> 2007.11-6)
[2008-02-02 07:50] upgraded groff (1.19.2-3 -> 1.19.2-4)
[2008-02-02 07:50] upgraded man (1.6f-1 -> 1.6f-2)
[2008-02-02 07:50] upgraded mkinitcpio (0.5.17-1 -> 0.5.17-2)
[2008-02-02 07:50] upgraded mpg123 (1.1.0-3 -> 1.2.0-1)
and not only was there an error about the missing file but gdm-binary segfaulted. Here's the entry from everything.log:
Feb 2 09:53:50 gconfd (david-9810): Exiting
Feb 2 09:53:50 darkstar gdm-binary[9706]: WARNING: Command failed /usr/bin/poweroff: Failed to execute child process "/usr/bin/poweroff" (No such file or directory)

Thing is, looking back through older log entries, the warning about failing to execute /usr/bin/reboot or /usr/bin /poweroff is always there on reboot/shutdown but I had never before seen it echoed to the screen. Anyway, I wasn't sure where to report the bug but made my own fix in the meantime by adding the following to the daemon section of /etc/gdm/defaults.conf
RebootCommand=/sbin/reboot
HaltCommand=/sbin/poweroff
The other consequence of those Saturday updates, which hasn't gone away yet, is that the normal shutdown messages - stopping this, stopping that etc. - don't always appear. It's not consistent but more often than not gnome will drop to a console with a login prompt and my PC will shutdown a few seconds later If I don't start gnome and just run /sbin/poweroff from the console then the usual messages will appear. As far as I can tell, however, my PC is shutting down properly despite the lack of messages.
EDIT: And /sbin is in my path.
EDIT 1: And the segfaults continue (I thought that they'd gone away):
Feb 6 23:27:08 gconfd (david-9811): Exiting
Feb 6 23:27:09 darkstar shutdown[15679]: shutting down for system halt

HT5730 Lost content on /usr/bin/ and .bash_profile
I've installed the update and it seems to have reset my .bash_profile.
It also seems to have removed some programs I had installed under /usr/bin like Git and Macports among others.
This is a big let down for me, coming from Apple.Posix standards have nothing to do with Apple. /usr/bin/ is reserved for binary files delivered from the distribution. /usr/local/bin is available for administrators to add binary files which will not be touched by an update. If you wish to install in /usr/bin then it is YOUR responsibility to maintain the added binaries. MacPorts normally installs in the opt/local/ directory did you customize your installation?
For some reason /opt/local/bin was removed from my PATH. But yes, MacPorts was actually still installed in that folder.
I installed Git through the Command Line Tools installation from Xcode, so I didn't choose anything.
Nevertheless, I did not expect any update to remove anything I've installed on my system nor mess with my home folder without first warning me about it . -
Is there a way to stop being bombarded with IAds when using games on my IPad? Is this a new way to advertise Apps?
If these are the free versions of the games, buy the full version and the iAds should go away. The developer can offer the app for free by selling advertising. If the developer is going to give the app away, he has to be paid for his work somehow.
There may be some paid apps that might include iAds as well. In those instances, the developer includes the ads in order to subsidize the cost of the app to the end user in order to reduce the cost of the app. You should always read the app description when you download any app to make sure that you know what you are getting into - with regard to ads and in-app purchases.
Games are the worst offenders - IMO. Many "free" games become totally useless after you reach a certain level or if you reach your limit in lives or potions or things like that. If you want to continue in the game, you than have to make in-app purchases for levels, lives, potions, beads, whatever. You can rack ip quite a bill playing those "free" games if you are not aware of what you are getting into. -
[SOLVED] (PKGBUILD) problem with makepkg for go-openoffice
[SOLVED]: In the PKGBUILD, there's a function before build(), named mksource() and a comment "source PKGBUILD && mksource".
Just run it first, then copy the "/tmp/go-openoffice-source/go-openoffice-ooo320-m12.tar.xz", run "makepkg -s" as usual.
Thanks :D
Hi, I tried to makepkg for extra/go-openoffice (from abs) by using "makepkg -s" on my x86_64 laptop, and get the following error (before the build begin):
==> ERROR: go-openoffice-ooo320-m12.tar.xz was not found in the build directory and is not a URL.
I understand that this comes from
pkgname=go-openoffice
_ootag=ooo320-m12 # m12 = OOo 3.2.0 RC5
source=(${_mirror}/${_go_tree}/ooo-build-${_GOver}.tar.gz
ArchLinux.patch
${pkgname}-${_ootag}.tar.xz
But, I don't know where to find this "go-openoffice-ooo320-m12.tar.xz". Can you please help me to figure out where to find it? Thank you!

[SOLVED]I can build a package with "make install" but not with makepkg
I'm quite new to Arch and it's my first PKGBUILD.
I successfully built the software lhapdf http://www.hepforge.org/archive/lhapdf/ … 3.1.tar.gz with the traditional system:
1) I do a patch for compatibility with gcc 4.3
cd lhapdf-5.3.1
sed -i "s/<string>/<cstring>/" ccwrap/test-lhapdf-ccwrap.cc
and then
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
sudo make install
Then I tried to write a PKGBUILD
pkgname=lhapdf
pkgver=5.3.1
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Unified and easy to use interface to modern PDF sets"
arch=(i686 x86_64)
url="http://projects.hepforge.org/lhapdf"
license=('GPL')

sed -i "s/<string>/<cstring>/" ccwrap/test-lhapdf-ccwrap.cc
./configure --prefix=/usr
make || return 1
make DESTDIR="$pkgdir" install
# vim:set ts=2 sw=2 et:
and it doesn't work. The last lines of the output of makepkg are:

Last edited by alcafar (2008-04-09 11:03:00)Thank you Snowman, it works with options=('!makeflags'). The changes in the paths were not needed, I copied them from /usr/share/pacman/PKGBUILD.proto, probably is some new feature.
Now, I'd like to post the PKGBUILD to AUR. This is currently my PKGBUILD:

What should I add to PKGBUILD?
The program is in fortran, so I'm surprised that namcap did not add gcc-fortran in the dependencies. Should I add it to depends or makedepends? Or maybe it is included in gcc-libs? -
/usr/bin/ld: CANNOT EXECUTE binary file!
So whenever I try to compile something, I get to the step
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
And looking at the log, my problem is...
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/bin/ld: cannot execute binary file
Which... Is bad. Yes, I've tried chmodding it +x. I've also tried logging in as root and trying to run it, no luck.
What's wrong? =/
Would asking someone else with an iMac G5 to send me theirs, fix it?Running configure on all open source packages brings me to the ld cannot execute error in configure.log. In this case I was attempting to build libssh2 (SSH functions for PHP).
Thanks for the link Nils, I'll try that. -

Seems like wget isn't installed.
Thank you. That was the problem. -
Problem building kernel with makepkg
I tried several times building a custom 2.6.8.1 kernel with makepkg and the PKGBUILD file obtained from http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ker … with%20ABS. Unfortionately, the process allways ends with the following error:
ln: when making multiple links, last argument must be a directory
make: *** [_modinst_] Error 1
==> ERROR: Build Failed. Aborting...
Is there something wrong with the build file posted on the wiki or am I doing something stupid?Err... I might have done a small mistake in my previous post.
I didn't try to build the kernel using the Wiki page above.
I've used http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bui … with%20ABS
You can find below the revised PKGBUILD for that page. It might look weird, but it's very functional. It should also work with the stock kernels.
This PKGBUILD includes kernel version/revision autodetection. This helps when you apply patches which change those variables (such as ck, mm etc.). The changes I've made automatically change the package details (pkgname, pkgver, pkgdesc) to reflect the kernel changes.
Please test because I've made some cosmetic changes lately which might have scrambled something around there. If you find it working, please post here and I'll put it in the Wiki page above. Maybe it could also be used as a base for building kernels with the ABS.
Any feedback is welcomed. Enjoy.

Compiled dwm with makepkg dont install
i`ve tryed to compile and install a dwm-sprinkles with modifyed conf.h (by me). Everything on compilation is ok.
I just run makepkg -efi --asroot and it, apparently, install the new dwm! but its not installed!

Error with makepkg - no error without [solved]
When compiling audacity with the standard PKGBUILD but with other configure options (./ configure --prefix=/usr --with-portaudio=v19 --without-portmixer), configure exits with the following error:
$ configure: warning: CC=gcc: invalid host type
$ configure: warning: CXX=g++: invalid host type
$ configure: error: can only configure for one host and one target at a time
$ configure: error: /bin/sh './configure' failed for lib-src/portaudio-v19
if run outside makepkg, the configure command runs fine.
This configure file contains a call to another configure located in a subdirectory and it's when this second one is called that the error occurs.
Is there a bug here or is it by design supposing that this kind of nested configure files should not be written like this?Thanks for the tip. After playng with makepkg.conf, it appears that the rror occurs when audacity is compiled with the standard options:
export CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O2 -pipe"
export CXXFLAGS="-march=i686 -O2 -pipe"
Without them, it compiles well. -
SOLVED /usr/bin/makepkg: line 552: build: command not found
I'm trying to build a custom kernel, but am receiving this error:
/usr/bin/makepkg: line 552: build: command not found
I've searched all over for a fix, but haven't had any luck, it doesn't seem to be a common error, or it's so incredibly easy to fix that noone has bothered
Thanks for any help.
/crobotThanks for your response, it has failed on two builds, i'll post both.
