CWMS : All Internal Network Topology
Dears,
I'm planning to install CWMS and I will install all the machines (CWMS + IRP) in the internal network.
Now I'm wondering how I have to configure my private and public DNS.
Private DNS:
admin.xxx.com => private VIP address
meet.xxx.com => private VIP address
Public DNS:
meet.xxx.com => public VIP address
Is it true that with this configuration my external users will connect by the public VIP address and my internal users by the private VIP address ?
Is this deployment supported by Cisco ?
Hello,
This deployment is supported in a scenario where the IRP uses a different DNS server (resolving meet.xxx.com to the public VIP) than the 'internal' VMs (resolving meet.xxx.com to the private VIP). This is know as split DNS and the deployment will have the following network requirements:

Cisco ISE disabled all internal Network users
Hi All,
Somehow, this morning when we checked on the ISE, all the IP phone users along with the internal users are disabled. We have disabled the password policy to disable the accounts if password is not changed. Our version is 1.2 and no patches. Can anyone please advise on this.
Wireless authentication for users against AD is ok.
ThanksRequiring Guests to Change Password
You can allow or require guest users to change their password after their initial account credentials are created by the sponsor. If guest users change their passwords, sponsors cannot provide guests with their login credentials if they are lost. The sponsor must create a new guest account.
You can either allow guests to change their passwords, or you can require that they do it at expiration and at first login. To require internal users using a guest portal to change their password upon their next login, choose Administration > Identity Management > Identities > Users . Select the specific internal user from the Network Access Users list and enable the change password check box.
Before You Begin
Create a Guest portal or modify the DefaultGuestPortal. This setting is specific to each Guest portal.
Step 1 Choose Administration > Web Portal Management > Settings > Guest > Multi-Portal Configuration.
Step 2 Check the Guest portal to update and click Edit .
Step 3 Click the Operations tab.
Step 4 Check either or both options:
Allow guest users to change password
Require guest users to change password at expiration and first login
Step 5 Click Save .

How to Identify the Network Topology being used for a running ForeFront TMG Stand Alone array?
Hello Experts,
My client has decided to move their datacenter from one location to other including the ForeFront TMG servers which are being used as Reverse Proxy and TMG Gateway in DMZ environment.
I need to know the network topology used for this configuration so that I could chose the same topology when creating new TMG environment at new datacenter. Here are some details :
1. There are 2 TMG servers configured in a DMZ Workgroup in Stand Alone array.
2. Both servers have 3 NIC attached to them. (one has all public IPs configured, another one has internal IP address and the third one has Management IP which is used to connect the server via RDP).
3. There are more than 50 websites published via this standalone array.
I am very new to Forefront TMG technology and need to know the Topology used to create such environment.
Thanks
LalitHi,
According to your description, you can use the 3-leg perimeter network template and choose which network adapter connects to the LAN, which network adapter connects to the external network and which network adapter connects to the DMZ.
Did you set up TCP/IP settings for the three NICs? If not, please refer to the link below:

Network Topology/Configuration Validation
Hi,
We are implementing a Two-tier firewall architecture using Fortigate and cisco ASA-5500 series firewall for our internal network.
All the tiers will be redundant mode firewall (Active/Active)
First tier firewall (Fortigate) will host the WEB servers (Front end servers)
Second tier firewall (ASA-5520) will host the database (Back end servers) storage servers
Pls refer the attached security-setup-final PPT for actual topology.
Kindly Guide on the configuration in terms of :-
1) Routing protocol to be used (OSPF/RIP)
2) PRI dialup config (DDR) design for branches
3) Firewall design validation
4) IP Scheme validation (Attached)
5) Wan setup termination point
Pls suggest if the proposed setup and related IP scheme will work seamlessly
RegardsHi,
How many OSPF areas should be created.
For Primary and DR site.
Should both the site be configured in area 0 or different area.
Also should we use single subnet for dialup (ISDN-BRI) for backup or should we use point to point subnet for each dialup location.
Primary link will be channelized E1. -
WRV200 - Problems with VPN Client and Internal network access
I have a WRV200 router and want to access the internal (Private Network) connected on the inside. I have successfully conected to the router with the Linksys VPN Client, but it does not appear to allow access to the internal network.
How do I enable NAT Transversal or Passthru? I have already selected all of the PPTP, L2TP and IPSEC Pass Through.
Has anyone gotten this to work?I have actually gotten this to work. Issues surround this include the ability to get to the VPN if the main DNS is down (it does not fail over to the next DNS in the list).
If you unselect all of the boxes in the firewall General configuration, you can connect, but if you need to have all of this unchecked, what's the sense of having it?
Anyway, you can use the DoS Prevention, this is not interfering.

Cisco ASA 5505 Routing between internal networks
Hi,
I am new to Cisco ASA and have been configuring my new firewall but one thing have been bothering. I cannot get internal networks and routing between them to work as I would like to. Goal is to set four networks and control access with ACL:s between those.
1. Outside
2. DMZ
3. ServerNet1
4. Inside
ASA version is 9.1 and i have been reading on two different ways on handling IP routing with this. NAT Exempt and not configuring NAT at all and letting normal IP routing to handle internal networks. No matter how I configure, with or without NAT I cannot get access from inside network to DMZ or from ServerNet1 to DMZ. Strange thing is that I can access services from DMZ to Inside and ServerNet1 if access list allows it. For instance DNS server is on Inside network and DMZ works great using it.
Here is the running conf:

Yep, Finnish would be good also =)
In front of ASA is DSL modem, on the trunk ports is Hyper-V host that uses the trunk ports so that every VM has their VLAN ID defined in the VM level. Everything is working good on that end. Also there is WLAN Access Pois on one of the ASA ports, on the WLAN AP there is the management portal address on DMZ that i have been testing agains (192.168.3.4)
If i configure Dynamic PAT from inside to the DMZ then the traffic starts to work from inside to all hosts on DMZ but thats not the right way to do it so no shortcuts =)
Here is the conf now, still doesnt work:

LMS 4.1 Network Topology Layer 2 view - Re layout map not working
I've finally got Topology Data Collection working on Prime LMS 4.1.
However, when I run Network Topology Layer 2 view and try and re-layout the view to any of the options, Circular, Hierarchical, Symmetrical or Orthogonal, the map never re-draws to that type of layout. It always stays as a mess.
I think it must be a 'feature'.
Any ideas ?
Cheers
BarryI searched again and didn't find any errors in the same line as the IP or Hostname of the unconnected switches. But I did notice that these switches and all of the devices upstream have "Discovery ani TopoSMFGenerateAbstractTopology" lines where the rest have "Discovery ani TopoSMFGenerateCdpTopology". Do I need to delete everything upstream to the seed device and then rerun a Data Collection? I've included the log. One of the unconnected switches is: 192.168.40.11 Display name: TC160_C. Thanks again.

Using DNS Services on an internal network and still using an outside DNS
I have just started using Mac OSX Server for the first time and I am trying to set up an internal DNS server so I can set up an LDAP Directory master and replica. However, I am running into some problems in setting up the DNS server on our network.
This is where it gets a little confusing to me here and i have to explain some things. We have a shared web hosting ISP, which means that our mail services and web hosting services are not hosted on site. To access our mail services using a FQDN I would point Outlook to mail.xxx-xxx.net. However, I want to use that domain, xxx-xxx.net, as our internal network as well because it is the name of our company.
I can get all of the DNS names to propogate to their assigned IP's on the internal network and can ping everything using fully qualified domain names, but whenever I go to use services such as mail., it cannot find the server which is hosting that service because it is obviously not on our internal network. This makes sense that I cannot ping it, but how do I set up the alias mail.xxx-xxx.net to point to the ip address of the mail servers hosted by our ISP instead of something hosted on our internal network?
Sorry I can't clarify better, I'll try some cliff's instead;
1) Trying to set up internal dns server so I can use LDAP Directory Master and Replica Services.
2) The domain, xxx-xxx.net is currently being used for web hosting and mail services not hosted at our site.
3) Want to use the domain xxx-xxx.net as our internal domain because it is the name of our company, and eventually we will be hosting our own content.
4) Can set up internal DNS server and get all IP's to propagate just fine, but services such as mail.xxx-xxx.net cannot be used because they are not hosted on the internal network.
5) How do I set up DNS to point certain services to point to an external DNS servers, or to the IP address of the server itself so I don't have to use the ip address i.e. mail.216.256.33.24?Ok I got it

One other thing - I had a problem with the key pairing so I rebuilt the rsa 1024 and the unit started working. Unfortunately I reloaded without the config in place and now I cannot get it to work again. Any help will be greatly apprecaited although I did review a dozen other posts of people having similar problems and for some reason there is never any conclusion as to the solution and I am not sure why.
Some other info from the client end:
I just ran the stats on the client and packets are being encrypted BUT none are decrypted.
Also Tunnel received 0 and sent 115119
Encryption is 168-bit 3-DES
Authentication is HMAC-SHA1
also even though the allow LAN is selected in the Cisco VPN client it states the local LAN is disabled in the client stats
also Transparent tunneling is selcted but in the stats it states it is inactive
I am connecting with the Cisco VPN Client Ver 5.0.07.0440
This config works. It is on the internal net 192.168..40.x and all users obtain dhcp and surf the web. It has required ports opened. The problem is that you can connect remotely via the VPN and you receive an IP address from the remote-vpn pool but you cannot see any machines on the internal network. The pix is at 40.2 and you cannot ping the pix and the pix from the remote PC connecting via the VPN and youcannot ping the remote PC from the PIX console when the remote is connected and receives the first IP address in the VPN pool of 192.168.40.25
I need to see the internal network and map network drives. I have another friend that is running the same config and it works but his computer is on a linksys wireless and has an IP of 192.168.1.x and the IP he receives from the VPN pool is 192.168.1.25 so I do not know if the same network is allowing this config to work even if there is an error in the config. In my present case I obtain the ip of 192.168.40.25 from the VPN pool and my connecting pc on 192.168.1.x I really am not sure how the VPN virtual adapter works. I am assuming it routes all traffic from your connecting PC to and from the virtual adapater but I really do not know for sure.
Other people have had similar issues with accessing the internal network from the VPN. One solution was the split-tunnel, another was the natting and another had to do with the encrption where there and an issue with the encrypt and ecrypt which was stopping the communicaton via the VPN.
I still cannot seem to find the issue with this config and any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have been searching docs and other people's postings trying to obtain the info to make this work. It appears pretty much boiler plate but I believe my problem is in the natting. I am using a range in the internal network for the VPN pool and I have tried switching this to other networks but this has not helped. Unfortunately I have been unable to get the PDM to work and I believe this is a PC config thing and I did not want to waste the time on it. I read a post where a person using the PDM interface with the same problem (not being able to access the internal network) was able to go to a section in the VPN wizard and set the Address Exeption Translation. They said they originally set the VPN subnet when they did not have to. Many of the other blogs I read also stated that if the natting is not proper for the VPN pool- that it will not work but I am confused by the examples. They show as I do the complete range for an access-list called no_nat_inside but I believe it should only have the VPN pool IP range and not the entire network since the others do require natting - not sure if my thought process is correct here. Any help will be greatly apprecaited. Also this morning I just tried a boiler plate example from CISCO and it also did not do what I need for it to do. And I also connect a PC to obtain an IP to see if I can see it - no good. The PC can ping the PIX and viceversa but no one can ping the remote PC that connects via the CISCO Remote VPN client even though it receive an address from the vpnpool. Also include LAN is checked off on the client. This was mentioned in anther post.
Thank you once again.Hi,
PIX501 is a very very old Cisco firewall that has not been sold for a long time to my understanding. It also doesnt support even close to new software levels.
If you wanted to replace the PIX501 the corresponding model nowadays would be ASA5505 which is the smallest Cisco ASA firewall with 8 switch port module. There is already a new ASA5500-X Series (while ASA5505 is of the original ASA 5500 Series) but they have not yet introduced a replacing model for this model nor have they stopped selling this unit. I have a couple of them at home. Though naturally they are more expensive than your usual consumer firewalls.
But if you wanted to replace your PIX firewall then I would probably suggest ASA5505. Naturally you could get some other models too but the cost naturally rises even more. I am not sure at what price these are sold as used.
I used some PIX501 firewalls at the start of my career but have not used them in ages since ASA5505 is pretty much the firewall model we use when we need a firewall/vpn device for a smaller network/branch site.
Here is a PDF of the original ASA5500 Series.

I am afraid that its very hard for me atleast to troubleshoot this especially since I have not seen any outputs yet. Also the very old CLI and lack of GUI (?) make it harder to see what the problem is.
Could you provide the requested outputs?

DA server within a DMZ - ports needed for internal network
Hi,
I'm planning on adding a domain joined DA server in my DMZ. The DA server will have 2 NICs, one for the internal network and the other for the external. I'll be using two consecutive public IPv4 addresses.
On my external firewall I'll be opening the following ports for my DA server:
- Port 443 inbound and outbound
- UDP 3544 inbound and outbound.
On my Juniper firewall between the internal network and DMZ I'll be opening the following bi directional ports between my DC and DA server:
- IP Protocol 41 inbound and outbound.
TCP/UDP 53, 88, 3389, 389, 443, 445, 636, 3268, 3269
Am I right in thinking that in order for my DA clients to reach file shares (for example) I need to ensure that the required protocol and ports are open between my DA server and my file share (i.e. 443)? Doesn't this open a whole load of security holes?
Thanks
IT Support/EverythingHi there - in a similar scenario on many customer sites i have done the following configurations on the Internal Firewalls
Internal IP of the DA Server ---> allow all traffic to selected VLAN's
The above rule is restricting traffic from the DA Server to the required VLAN's / Networks you specify, The reasoning being is that Direct Access requires full connectivity to your apps / infrastructure.

SLP Directory Agent (port 427) - internal network goes down
Due to some VPN problems with corporate headquarters, I had to switch out my current firewall (Instagate EX2) with a new SonicWall. Whenever we tried to switchover to the new SonicWall, my entire internal network went down. I was not able to login to the different Xserves for their appropriate services. Examples included the email server, FTP server, and a special application server we use for news editing. All Xserves run OS X Server 10.4. Our clients range from PowerMacs to Mac Minis and Mac Pros - all running OSX 10.4 with a few running 10.3. Symptoms of problems include when trying to connect to the email server, it just sits saying "Connecting to 10.1.2.x...", same thing for the FTP services. The newsroom software, that usually takes a 1 - 2 seconds to log into, then takes 45 seconds or so. Several techs looked at the problem without any suggestions about what to do to fix it.
We have a Juniper Netscreen router provided by our ISP that connects to the Instagate firewall and to the network itself. Upon looking at the logs, it was discovered that the OS X stations IPs were using a port 427 - which is used by SLP. One of the techs said that is what is taking our network down when we disconnect the Instagate router from the network (because it evidently is passing this SLP traffic onto the Netscreen router). So when the Netscreen router comes off the network, none of the services on the Xserves work because of this. They said I needed to disable the port 427 on the Netscreen, but if I do this, isn't this having the same effect as taking the network down. Then it was told to me to setup a Directory Agent to handle this traffic. But they didn't provide any instructions to me on how to setup this up on the network or on OS X Server.
Does anyone have any guidance or suggestions regarding this?
Thanks,
GI had the ISP's tech in today with proper network analysis software to see what's going on.
We discovered that it is not SLP that is causing problems as one tech had suggested. Anytime that the internet access was disconnected from the network, the access to services on the OS X Servers go down or are extremely slow. So we began to look at the DNS entries and realized if we removed DNS then the servers refused access, if DNS entries were made (using OpenDNS), then the servers work.
For example, we use the mail server component of OS X Server 10.4 for our email services. We cannot access the internal server (via IP) without the XServe having an entry in DNS. Put in OpenDNS servers, and things work like they should. The same scenario applies to any services (FTP, NewsEdit, etc.) that's on the OS X Servers. I guess what I'm not understanding is why does everything work internally as long as the OS X Servers have something listed for DNS - even though the DNS is an external DNS IP? Because it is external outside of the network, it's not like the mail server or clients are resolving the private IPs (which there's nothing to resolve since use IP numbers for connection purposes). -
Design - Lync client internal network subnets supports NAT?
Hi everybody, this is my question.
In my organization we Need to migrate Clients to lync 2013, but there are some internal Networks subnets where Clients relies that have their Network ip adrress NATed. Is it possible to use lync Clients in a NAT Network? Will it have some issues?
ThanksHi,
Base on my knowledge, for Lync Server side, it is not supported. For Lync client side, you need to make sure all needed client ports open.
Please refer “Required Client Ports” part in the link below:

Network Topology for Performance/Redundancy
Hello there,
I am projecting my first Oracle VM Pool for the test the virtualization the many Single Oracle Databases 11Gr2 Standard Edition One, but I have difficult about the network topology best practices.
I have imagined this:
bond0(2x 1gb) - Manament Network and Heartbeat.
bond1(2x 1gb) - Live Migration. ( I want use DRS )
bond2(2x 1gb) - VM Public Network.
bond3(2x 1gb) - VM Manament Network ( Manamgement and Backup for VMs ).
bond4(2x 10GBE) - Storage. ( with Jumbo Frame )
All bonds in active-backup (mode=1)
All ports to be connected to two distinct switchs for redundancy.
Is that correct ?
Any suggestion ?

Outlook 2013 not connect with Exchange server 2013 in internal network
Hello All,
I Have two Exchange server 2013 in our environment. Both server install mailbox and CAS role. After configure exchange server 2013, Outlook 2013 not connect in internal network. I have configure outlook manually. i tried by using the suggestion from blog
but not work. Outlook show that Server cannot connect/ server name could not be resolved. in outlook setting i also put exchange proxy setting. In exchange admin center i have changed the OWA, OAB, Auto discover name. But still not work.
I know that outlook can be connect from external by using ssl certificate and publish outlook anywhere but i did my configure from internal network.
Can you please suggest as soon as possible.
Thanks,
ParvezHi,
Firstly, I’d like to explain, same with external users, internal users use Outlook Anywhere to connect with Exchange server and use Autodiscover get all settings.
Thus, let’s try the following resolutions:
1. run the following command: get-clientaccessservice |fl autodiscoverserviceinternaluri
2. check if the host name in the above URL is in the DNS server and there is a DNS entry about the host name points to the proper IP address.
3. Check if the above host name is in your certificate.
Thanks,
Angela
