DAC subject areas won't assembled.

I’ve run across a situation where I am trying to run in DAC both EBS and provided by third-party jobs in the same environment. It appears that provided by third-party vendor container is keeping the other containers subject areas from being able to be assembled.
I’ve deleted containers one at a time, imported one at a time, created new containers, new subject areas and so far nothing I do seems to clear this up.
When I install the Enterprise Container first, it is able to assemble, but after I import provided by the third-party container I am no longer able to assemble the Enterprise Container Subject Areas. Provided by the third-party Subject Areas assemble fine and execution plans run. Just can’t get the Enterprise one in a state where it will run.
Please share any thoughts on the possible cause and solution.
Thank you very much!

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes by third-party container i realy mean non-Oracle container. There is no error, it just won't complete the process. I've tried to kill DAC pracess and to start over - made no difference.

  • Need help in assembling DAC 'Subject Area':

    Hi There,
When I assemble a subject area:
I got a pop up window for 'Configuration Tags' with the following message:
The tasks belonging to the following Configuration Tags may be applicable
to assembling your subject area. If you want to associate these tags,
    press Cancel, otherwise press Continue.
For this message, should I say 'Continue' or 'Cancel'.
Also what happens when I say 'Continue' or 'Cancel'.?
    Thanks,
    Raghu

Hi, DAC Configuration Tag controls the inclusion of tasks in subject areas. Each Configuration Tag will have tasks associated for specific biapps requirement.
By Default BIAPPS OOTB Subject Areas will have Configurations tags associated and few will be in inactive state.
(Click on any DAC SubJect Area --> ConfigurationTag (in the bottom pane) to verify which Configuration Tags are associated )
    1. This message is just a reminder that DAC tells you, there are few other tasks that can be included in the Subject Area and here are the Configuration Tags associated to these tasks. In case if you forget adding them hit 'Cancel', add it and then Assemble again
    2. In all other cases if you don't need to add these Configuration Tags you can hit Continue to complete assembling the Subject Area
It all depends on the requirement and which tasks you need to include or exclude from specific Subject Area.
Before Assembling verify if you need to include any Configuration Tag , activate it and then hit Assemble.
Eg: In BIApps Configuration topic : To Reload the Time Dimension Tables After the Data Warehouse Is Loaded
    1. To extend the Day Dimension, you should include configuration tag named *'Extend Day Dimension Multiple Calendar Support.'* which adds additional specific tasks . Then assemble the Subject Area
    Hope This helps !

  • Data Lineage - DAC Subject Area

    Hi All,
In the DAC OOTB repository, there is a Data Lineage Subject Area. By default it is inactive.
Its task names look very promising (indicating connections to OBI webcat, rpd, etc.), but I could not find any INFA workflows behind them.
Has anybody has an idea if there is any way of using it?
    Any experience here?
    Thanks!
    Michal

I know about the data lineage documents on metalink3 and yes, they are useful.
The missing part however is the rpd/webcat metadata. Also some connections inside of DAC are not covered.
This subject area looks very promising, but does not have any Infa mappings behind.
Any other guesses? What is a purpose of it?

  • Firefox not showing multiple subject areas for OBIEE source

Creating a new data set using the Oracle BI EE source. The dropdown list of subject areas won't drop down in Firefox, so I can't select any subject area other than the first one. It works properly in IE.
    Anybody else noticed this?
    OBIEE 11.1.1.6.9 with Firefox 18.0.2 or 21.0.

You should try both Complex folders as well as custom folders and see which gives you better performance. Discoverer SQL optimizations for example apply only on Complex folders and not on simple folders.
If you define the joins between the two tables, you can still use items from them in your Discoverer report without having to create a complex folder on them.
And finally, you can always create a view or materialized view and use that MV in your Discoverer query.

  • List of Dimensions by Subject Area

    Hi
How do i find the list of available Dimensions by subject area, for example - Project analytics.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What do you mean by Subject Area?
    1. OBI Presentation Layer Subject Area:
Then you can use "Display Related" functionality of OBI repository - it will list all the physical/logical objects for each subject are
    2. DAC Subject Area
Then you can use either DB scripts in the DAC metadata schema or easier refer to metalink Data Lineage document for the version of OBIA that you are using.
    Hope it helps,

  • DAC Peer to Peer Merge doesn't pick up new tasks in custom Subject Areas

I have a series of DAC changes spread across a number of different environments and I'm trying to consolidate them into one environment. I can't use a whole repository import/export as I'm trying to put Live hot fixes back into a dev environment that has new processing in it that isn't yet live, so I will loose these changes by reverting this back to the Live release.
These changes are all saved in a custom container. I've been trying to use the Peer to Peer merge function in the Upgrade/Merge wizard and this is picking up some of my changes but not others. I'm using DAC version 10.1.3.4.1.
It is picking up changes to paramaters, changes to tables and tasks fine, but it is not picking up changes to custom subject areas such as a new task being added or removed. Is this an issue that anyone else has seen? Any suggestions on how to get the Peer to Peer to check for this?

  • Multiple Fiscal Calendars Displayed in Subject Area Time Dimension

    Hi all,
Thanks for taking the time to review my post.
    Environment
Oracle BI Applications 7.9.6 Financial Analytics
    Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10
    Query
The Time dimension on my Subject Areas (Financial Analytics) are showing more period data than I expected.
I have configured one Enterprise Calendar (WPG_Calendar) that I set in the DAC parameters - $$GBL_CALENDAR_ID (WPG_Calendar~Month) and $$GBL_DATASOURCE_NUM_ID (4). The warehouse Enterprise Calendar table W_ENT_PERIOD_D is populating with the periods as configured in EBS for that calendar(Jan-09, Feb-0, Mar-09, etc). I noticed that the Multiple Fiscal W_MCAL_PERIOD_D table is also been populated with the Enterprise Calendar data PLUS, the Seeded EBS calendar (JEBE_MONTH_VAT) and a generated Calendar that appears to be a 5-4-5-4 Calendar (Jan-01-09, Jan-02-09, Jan-03-09, etc). The trouble is these W_MCAL_PERIOD_D periods and dates are all coming through in my Time dimensions and make it confusing for the Answers Users when choosing a Time dimension.
Also, for columns W_CURRENT_MCAL_PERIOD_CODE, W_CURRENT_MCAL_QTR_CODE, W_CURRENT_MCAL_YEAR_CODE there are rows with Current, Previous and Next populated that span these different periods as you would expect, but I'm concerned these return multiple rows for Filters Current Fiscal Quater, Current Fiscal Year.
Funnily enough, W_CURRENT_MCAL_MONTH_CODE has nothing populated (NULLs for all rows).
    Your comments are most welcome.
    Kind Regards,
    Gary.

The filtering of the calendar can be done directly on the logical layer.
for the logical dimension "Dim - Date Fiscal Calendar", Logical Table Source "Dim_W_MCAL_PERIOD_D_Fiscal_Period"
    set the content as :
    "Oracle Data Warehouse".Catalog.dbo.Dim_W_MCAL_PERIOD_D_Fiscal_Period.MCAL_CAL_WID = VALUEOF("MY_MCAL_WID")
and setup the repository variable MY_MCAL_WID to match with your calendar wid.
If your calendar depends on any context then you can use session variable instead of repository variable

  • Multiple Subject Areas

Somewhat new so please forgive me if the question is simple (if it is, please point me in the right direction). I've looked through the documentation and this forum, but have not found what I'm looking for yet.
I am trying to get a single worksheet to pull data from multiple subject areas (two or more fact tables). I would prefer to not join fact tables together, and so I have not created the joins between the folders (fact tables) because I thought the performance would generally be horrible. (example of functionality I'm looking for: I want to combine Sales and Inventory data on one worksheet).
I have kind of tried complex folders, but I would prefer to have the tool generate the SQL if possible because it won't just be me creating reports, and if it's possible, I'd like to avoid coding the SQL myself every time I want to join subject areas.
I also looked at Custom Folders, but my understanding is that they are used primarily to join 1 fact table with multiple dimensional tables, but not multiple fact tables (at least that was the example in the documentation).
My current setup is a 2 tier environment, with just Disco Admin and Disco Desktop on top of 10g. We don't have AS yet so I can't test anything that way.
I appreciate any comments in advance.
    Nate

Assuming you are trying to do an iPhoto photo book (iBook is a computer assembled in China) in iPhoto for the Mac
    Will it preview -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Multiple Subject Area - OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I have to do cross-subject area operations in OBIEE 11g. Here is what I have found out:
    1. There is an option to use Union/Intersect operations which creates a Union query
    2. There is an option to use 'Add/Remove Subject Area' which can be used to combine Attributes/Facts across multiple Subject Areas.
I am looking forward more details on second point above but unfortunately there isn't an official document by Oracle on it.
As I understand, by using 'Add/Remove Subject Area', OBIEE does not create a UNION query but it combines the attributes as if they are used through same Subject Area. So, it is not a typical join as I dont see something like Subject Area 1.Key = Subject Area 2.Key in Query log which brings me to a question:
Is it possible to use the option to combine attributes across Subject Area based off Multiple BMM in RPD? I think the answer is NO because I don't think there is a way for OBIEE to combine results sets from different BMM.
    Thoughts?

I am afraid but I am not able to follow your suggestion. I will try to make it very simple:
    1. We create Subject Areas in RPD
    2. Each Subject Area will be based on BMM created in RPD. Now, you can have multiple Subject Areas which are again based on BMM itself.
    3. I can also create multiple BMM within RPD.
    Something like:
    BMM A, Subject Areas - 1A and 2A
    BMM B, Subject Areas - 1B and 2B
From above, consider you have created two BMM's - A and B and within each BMM there are two Subject Areas. 1A and 2A in BMM A and 1B and 2B in BMM B.
Now, when I logon to Answers, when I click on New->Analysis, I would see four Subject Areas - 1A, 2A, 1B and 2B. Suppose I select 1A. Now, when I try to use Add/Remove Subject areas option, I can only see 1B (because both of them are from same BMM - A). I won't see 2A and 2B.
So, this brings me to conclusion that you cannot combine attributes from different BMM using 'Add/Remove Subject Areas'. You can however use UNION/INTERSECT to do the operation but Add/Remove Subject Areas is limited to be used when your Subject areas are connected in the same BMM.
    Is my understanding correct?

  • Subject Area

    Hi,
I ran a full load of HR Analytics Using DAC and EBS R1211 as Source System.
My problem is that I dont have the payroll data in the EBS I am using, now they are giving me a different EBS in which I have payroll data but no demographic data, can I just Run the payroll subject area into the datawarehouse which I did a full load before.
Will that affect the data which I am seeing.
    Please Help.

You mean your data is spread across 2 different EBS instances? The OBIA schema uses a set of conformed facts and dimensions, so if there is any tables "shared" between the payroll and non-payroll subject areas, then yes, you may not have accurate results. If you can isolate the star schema for just payroll so that only the payroll fact and dimensions are populated from the second EBS system, then this may be possible. It may be best to wait till all your data is in one EBS system.
