DAD configuration

we have web plsql packages that use to work in 11.0.2 after we upgraded to
11.5.9. Whenever we try to use the Menu Item which points to web plsql package.
It prompts me to enter userid and password.
The subject of the popup says
Enter Network Password
Realm : Security ERROR: PackageName
Username :
Password
We tried putting different userid and password but it does not work.
Following are the questions :
1. How to resolve this issue
2. How to create a new DAD because when I try to use
http://machinename:8000/pls/PROD/admin_/
The same popup for the userid and password comes up
how to resolve this ..

Hi Binu,
Check the file
iAS_HOME/Apache/modplsql/wdbsvr.app
Whether username and passwords are correct for apps,portal..etc.Note the first will be password to come not username.
If everything is okay other option is set login page to selfservice
Login as system administrator
profile->Self Service Personal Home Page mode -set to-Personal Home Page with Framework
then try to login it will wdbsvr.app for authentication.
In case you need to create new DAD add the entry in wdbsvr.app.URL http://machinename:8000/pls/PROD/admin_/ will not work for 11i as it is customized.
Hope this helps,
Magesh

    Hi,
It looks like that you don't have the DAD entry in the listener settings.
In the listener folder of your oracle home you can find a file named as wdbsvr.app.
Open this file and check for the DAD entry that you are using.
It should have the valid password and the connect strings too. Just validate this file and restart yourwebdb listener.
    Hope this helps you.
    Cheers,
    Siva.

  • HTTP-404 No DAD configuration found or no default home page

    Hi,
No EBS login page was available this morning but all services appeared to be online as usual. I restarted Apps Tier and could then see login page.
Now I have to find out what happened. There is nothing in the db log file, the listener log, the cc manager logs, the Jserv logs.
The only thing in the Apache log is this:
first error around 4.30am, then next later this morning:
[Wed Aug 26 04:36:55 2009] [warn] mod_plsql: /pls/PROD/OA_HTML/webtools/jslib/cabo_utilities.js HTTP-404 No DAD configuration found or no default home page

then, a little later this morning:
[Wed Aug 26 10:44:36 2009] [warn] mod_plsql: /pls/PROD/OA_HTML/webtools/jslib/container_constructor.js HTTP-404 No DAD configuration found or no default home page

[Wed Aug 26 10:44:36 2009] [warn] mod_plsql: /pls/PROD/OA_HTML/webtools/jslib/button_constructor.js HTTP-404 No DAD configuration found or no default home page
[Wed Aug 26 10:44:36 2009] [warn] mod_plsql: /pls/PROD/OA_HTML/webtools/jslib/cabo_utilities.js HTTP-404 No DAD configuration found or no default home page
Is this the problem or, as I suspect, the symptom of the problem? I am running out of ideas of where to look for any thing that might point to what happened.
OS is WIndows Server 2003. EBS is 11.5.10 and db is 10.2.0.2.
    Thanks.

Oh - no clones, no changes have been made recently.
Edited by: Dan A on Aug 26, 2009 10:40 AM

    Hi Dan,
The entries in the log files posted above do not help much in finding out the cause of the issue. Does this happen regularly? Can you find any dump files created when this happens? If this happens for few times only, is there any specific action that is done by the users (for example, running specific concurrent program, accessing certain module/form, ..etc) or by the system (like a backup)?
Did you try to find if any errors are logged in the Event Viewer? Since debugging was not enabled at the time this issue occurred, then it is not easy to tell why that happened. Maybe you could log a SR and upload all relevant log files and see if Oracle Support can help.

    Hussein

    Vipul,
You may want to take a look at the parameter passing sample in PDK-Java. This is more updated and meant to display the proper way to pass parameters. It also includes an article to make sure that you do it correctly.
You can find this in the PDK at the PDK-Java Samples page.
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=414&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO
Click on M-R to view the Parameter passing sample. This sample/article explains how to create a parameter passing portlet.

How can i chech my TNS connect string in PL/SQL?
    Thank everybody

You need to test connnecting to the database using the SAME oracle home that you installed portal into.
I find that although YOU can connect to the db, their can be occasions when portal can not connect to the db.
So when you use the portal installation dir as your oracle home and connect to the db, hopefully more informative information will be shown to you.

    Mohan

    Hi Mohan,
Enter the URL in the error message " http://testl-sun:7777/pls/admin_/gateway.htm" in your browser and that should bring up the gateway. You normally configure the DAD through the gateway.
For additional infomation see the "Oracle9i Application Server - Using the PL/SQL Gateway."

You can create a user without permission to log in. He will have access to DAD configuration but won't be able to log in to portal.

  • DAD Configuration without Protal in iAS EE

    Hello,
I have installed 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on WinNT without Portal, because I want to use only mod_plsql and forms/reports_services. But now I don't find a way, to configure my DAD without Portal. In the Standard Edition of iAS (1.0.2.) it is possible.
    I4ve configured the files wdbsrv.app and plsql.conf in congi-Path of mod_plsql.
Can anyone give me a tip??
    Axel Zerndt

    Hi,
You don't require setup DAD to use forms/report services.
All you need to do is call the Forms files using by typing the URL, in the mode you would like to run your Forms. Various modes available are
    1. Cgi executable
    2.Applet definition
    3.FormsListenerServlet.
Write to me if you need further help

  • "No DAD configuration found" in Solaris Portal 3.0.7.6.2

I get that message in the browser when trying to access my installed Portal 3.0.7.6.2 on Solaris
    What's the problem ?

This error is returned when the dad name typed in the URL does not exist in the $9IASHOME/Apache/ModPLSQL/cfg/wdbsvr.app file. Check the file and confirm the DAD name. Also make sure the URL you are using looks like:
    http://hostname:port/pls/dadname/

  • Multiple entries in the DAD file but one physical server

Can someone confirm (point me in the right direction for documentation) that we can have multiple DADs on the same physical server. A typical situation is where there are separate LIVE and TEST database installations of APEX but the one apache server. So, how do I get the TEST and LIVE to have different DAD configurations, in particular the location of the images file ie the alais '/i/'.
Our situation is a great deal more complex than my example above, as we could have in excess of 6 different APEX installations on the same physical server with each having to have a different location for the image files etc.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
Each dads.conf file can include several, unique, <Location> directives, according to your needs.
As the aliases are being defined outside a specific directive, it seems that you'll need to use different alias to each APEX instance.
You can read more about configuring the DAD in here - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28948/confmods.htm#sthref544
    Hope it helps,
    Arie.

  • Error at creating DAD (Database Access Descriptor) 8.1.5 + OAS 4.0.8.1

    Hello
I tried to create DAD to connect Oracle db with OAS so i can use pl/sql cartrige from the web.
when i tried to submit information to create DAD after dialog for enter sys password, it gave me "document retreived no data" after I submited it.
Any idea what was wrong? or how to create DAD with some non-web commandline tools?
or where i can find some examples on DAD configuration files.
    thanks
    Kimic

Did you applied the patch for 8.1.5 available on ftp.oracle.com ?
Is it a local or a remote database ?(remember, you must install database and oas 4.0.8 in diferent ORACLE_HOME, and reference local databases via an NET8 service).
I had exactly the same problem, and it disapeared after the patch ( Net 8,especially)...
    Hope this help,
    Romuald.

    What is wrong?

It is most likely that the NLS files are missing from the server/pc.
Also look at the apachectl file.
    Find the following line:
    NLS_LANG=${NLS_LANG=""}; export NLS_LANG
Modify this line to look like the following:
    NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.CL8MSWIN1251; export NLS_LANG

  • Apache is throwing NLS_LANG error when connecting via HTTPS using a DAD

Our Apache server is throwing this error
[Wed May  6 11:53:52 2009] [alert] [client 69.246.251.48] [ecid: 223452213192,1] mod_plsql: Unable to issue alter session : alter session set nls_language= "AMERICAN" ""
every time we connect to the server using HTTPS (the connection is using DAD -- see below for the DAD configuration).
If we run the same connection using HTTP it works fine.
Anyone know why this would happen and how we can correct it?
    DAD configuration:

@AMN -- I'm sort of in your camp in that I don't think I should have to remove that line (which I've not been able to test yet, by the way). It's possible removing the line might bypass the issue since the statement will never get issued in the first place, but I will know there is some sort of issue between HTTP and HTTPS that is throwing this error.
    To answer your questions:
    1. The portal database (IASDB) returns:
    PARAMETER VALUE
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
    2. What do you mean by "pls/hes"?
3b. Which type of OAS? Can you clarify this question? OAS 10g (which means IASDB is version 9i). We run Apache using Webcache. This OAS serves up a custom application written largely in Forms and PL/SQL. Hmmm, maybe that's not what you mean by this question , though...
3a. Explain our SSL configuration -- I'll try. I configfured this 4 to 5 years ago and haven't changed it at all other than to update the Oracle Wallet certificates every year or two. We have a single physical server that hosts our infrsastructure and mid-tier components and nothing more. As mentioned, Apache is our webserver and we run Oracle's Webcache. The twist in our configuration (and probably the source of this issue we are having is somewhere in this twist) is that we use one physical server and one Apache web server to serve up both HTTP and HTTPS using a virtual host within Apache and then we deifned multiple sites and origin servers with several redirects on various ports so we can handle SSL and non-SSL connections depending on whether they come to us externally (inTERnet) or internally (inTRAnet).
Webcache sites (hes2 is the server name):
    Site Origin Server
    hes2:7778 hes2:7779
    www.OurWebSite.com:80 hes2:8000
    hes2:80 hes2:7779
    sso.OurWebSite.com:80 hes2:7777
    www.OurWebSite.com:443 hes2:4444
    Webcache origin servers:
    hes2:7777 HTTP
    hes2:7779 HTTP
    hes2:8000 HTTP
    www.OurWebSite.com:4444 HTTPS
    Webcache listen ports:
443 HTTPS -- has Oracle wallet defined for it
    7778 HTTP
    80 HTTP
Navigating to http://www.OurWebSite.com will redirect to hes2:8000, which is our virtual server (configuration below). Navigating to https://www.OurWebSite.com will redirect to hes2:4444.
There is probably a little more I need to provide to answer the "SSL configuration" question, but I think that is enough for now as this is already a long response -- my apologies for that.

  • Initial Access to Portal 3.0 failing

I have IAS installed, Apache is running but I can't get into the Portal S/W.
I've successfully connected to the DB from sql+ from that Oracle home, so connectivity works.
I did run the Portal config assistant as part of the installation with no obvious errors.
Now I get this when I try to bring up the Portal.
I've tried the Portal DAD, Login server and gateway addresses with much the same result.
THe only odditity I can see is a line later on that says "HTTP_COOKIE=test_dad....." This was the name I used for an earlier failed attempt. I can't find this cookie anywhere or I'd delete it.
    Ideas ?
    No DAD configuration Found
    DAD name:
    PROCEDURE : portal30_sso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login
    URL : http://ian:80/pls/sso_dad/portal30_sso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login

In working on this I think it isn't using the correct tnsnames address.
It appears to be attempting a bequeath connect with SID=orcl.
I have no idea where it is getting this from. THe config utility runs fine and gets to the database ?
    This is very confusing
