Dafault value variable in WAD

Hi Experts
I have a query with the 0FISCPER object, this has a varible with customer-exit that calculate the actual year with the date system.
Then, I save a view with a value of 2006 (because I want to validate the variable always returns the actual year)
After this, I want to use the view in a template, I waiting that the template returns the data of 2007 (because the variable most to return the actual year), but this not occurs, only returns the 2006 value.
I try to check the "Restart the variable values" property of the template, but... dont works well.
in other way, I want to make a parametizable view

  • How to put variables in WAD

    Gurus,
I'm new to WAD. Please could you guide me how to have variables in WAD (for planning). Right now When I launch the WAD it pops up for all the variables. But what I want is that it should not ask for any variable while launching the WAD and later the variables should be filled up by drop downs inside the WAD. Is that possible?
    BR,
    SSC

    Hi,
Is there a way to avoid pop up while launching the web application
--> You can set in general tab of web template properties the variable screen to false (unmark it) "Display Variable Screen". Check:
    Web Template Parameters
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/14/31fa826d0bd540899b02888bf55df4/frameset.htm
In this case when I have created a drop down box for company code and then linked it to the variable in planning function
--> You can use CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTION for your variable. Then read it from drop down box.
    Check:
    Data Binding Type CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTION
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/e7460656b60a29e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
    and
    Dropdown Box
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/c0/de413a51ce2e3ae10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
Is this correct that I will have to choose variable value twice. While launching the web application (as a pop up) and then in the drop down once the web application is launched.
--> If you use a variable for restriction of a query I think this is not correct. Query is restricted by the variable value you can not choose it again from drop down. But you can overwrite this value with dropdown value...

  • Using javascript to read bex variables in WAD

    Hello,
    I'm using BI 7.0.
In Query Designer I defined a variable of type customer exit. The variable is called "TESTVAR". How can I access to the value of this variable in WAD by using javascript? I know I can use the Web Item "Script" or I can include the javascript code in an external file. But can you can give me some example code how I can access the variable "TESTVAR"?
    thanks
    bertl

    Try using the following
Suppose <b>TESTVAR</b> is having the value <b>A</b>
    If TESTVAR is single value
    var_name_1=TESTVAR
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_1 = A
    if TESTVAR is range
    var_name_1=TESTVAR
    VAR_VALUE_LOW_EXT_1 = A
    VAR_VALUE_HIGH_EXT_1 = A

  • Show date variable in WAD Template.

    HI,
I want to be able to show the date variable in WAD template. To do this I used the info field web item. This web item  has the option to show variables which is great, but unfortunatly for me it also shows all the other variables I am using. I can not see anywhere where I can restrict it to only show the date variable.
Does anyone know how I can do this or is it something I would have to do query side.
    Regards
    Forhad

    Hi Forhad,
Yes you can show the date var alone, for this you would have to choose the specific date var under Data Binding -> List of Text Elements to display -> Text Element Type =  Variable Value, Variable = (select the date var from the available list).
You may also turn off the Static Variables & Dynamic Variables if required.

  • Variable on WAD

Hi ...can we create a variable on WAD? When we create a variable on query or function, these variable appears as pop up when we execute the WAD. On WAD we have the drop down option (which can be mapped to a characteristic). The values of the drop down is populated form the query. Can we have a variable which is similiar to a dropdown but we can play around with variable types like exits/authorizations.

    Hi Lokesch,
for this second point, I usually create a query on the characteristic for which the variable is defined for, and include in this query the variable. Then I include this query into the web template as data provider but without any analysis item pointing to it.
If it is a formula variable, as far as I know this is not necessary.
For your new point - I never worked with the excel download button yet, so I don´t know what could be the problem there. In the system there is this Standars Web template that is used when you execute a query directly in the web. Maybe you can have a look at this web template and check the settings for the Excel Button there and copy it to your template.

  • Multiple value variable - not showing Multiple values in the report

    Hi,
I have careated a Multiple value variable for one of the characteristics in my Query. however, When i run the Query and select multiple values for the same, the report displays values for only the first selection.
Could you help me resolve this ?
    Rgds
    Shweta

    Hello Shweta,
Are you running the report in the Analyzer excel or Web?
May be you can check the following:
    1. Use the latest FEP. It is working for me.
    2. May be the other values that you selected do not have corresponding keyfigures values. Hence it is showing only the first one.
Try selecting other values ( except first one selected this time )

  • How can we Restict the Char single value Variables with , , =

    Hi Experts,
How can we Restict the Char value Variables with <, >, <=  (without selecting Inverval or only passing single value)
    For Example
We have a standard Query 0FIAR_C03_Q1005, in this
    New Selection
    "1 - 15 Days, Posting Date<=Key Date, Clearing Date>Key Date"
    This is restricted  with the
    Clearing(0CLEAR_DATE)
<Clearing key date(0P_KEYD3)  It is a single value SAP Exit Varible
    PostingDate(0PSTNG_DATE)
<= Posting keydate(0P_KEYD3)  It is a single value SAP Exit Varible
When seeing these 0P_KEYD3, 0P_KEYD3 variables in the New selection screen they looks like  >0P_KEYD3, <=0PSTNG_DATE
if you define any custom variables these are looks like =ZV_DATE.
to enable < , >, <= symbols for variables what we need to do.
    In other way
Say we created one variable ZV_DATE single value, processing type as customer exit.
for this we populated current day,
Now Requirement is we need to display the all the records which are <= current date,
instead of passing low and high values, i want to restrict the calday <=ZV_DATE
    New selection
    0calday
      <=ZV_DATE
How can we achive this, this is how the business content report having the restrictions
    Please sugget me.
    Thanks

    Ok,
In the InfoObject 0calday in the query designer under the filter area, under characteristic restrictions right-click over that InfoObject (0calday).
In the next window (select Values for [0CALDAY]  Calendar Day in the dropdown box for "Show" choose Value Ranges. Under the word "Between"  dropdown box select "Less than or equal to"
Below that word click on the button of the dropdown box Select from list.
In the new window select instead of History Variables and double-click on your variable ZV_DATE.
Click on the right blue arrow to move it to the right.
    And there you go.
Tip: It exists a SAP standard variable named 0DAT which is exactly the current date (don't need to use ZV_DATE variable).

  • How to Add a New Filter Value in BEx WAD to Display All Result

    Hi experts,
I want to add a new filter value in BEx WAD to display all data records. The scenario is as follows:
The status field can have two values: Active ("A) and Inactive ("I").
But the requirement is to have a third value to display all the data records (Active + Inactive). E.g. the value can be "G". The purpose is to increase the understandability for report users.
    Does anyone have an idea?
    Regards,
    Joon

    Hi Vineet,
thanks for your reply. The problem is that there are only 2 values available for this Characteristic: "A" or "I".
The requirement is to have a third value "G" (instead of the default "All Value") due to historical reason, because all future report users have been working with R/3 reports for quite some time and they are accustomed to using "G" for displaying all values.
Is there any possibility to realize this?
    Thanks,
    Joon

  • How to use Value Variable in Report Painter Column defined as Formula

    Hi Gurus,
In report painter, how can I add one field (exchange rate) in selection screen, so that user can provide the exchange rate to be used, then execute the report, the exchange rate will used to multiple local currency amount.
The reason for this is we want use provided exchange rate to convert the amount from once currency to the other currency.
Alternatively I am studying the functionality of "Value Variable" and found that I can perform the task from this. I have created the value variable but when I am using the variable in Report Painter columns as "&ZVALVAR", system is giving me error. I read the help and it states that use the variable with "&" and do it as it is mentioned.
Can anybody suggest what I need to do to make it workable.
    Thanks

I did try using the presentation variable, but that does not work too. I am setting session variable in the dashboard prompt (select 'request variable'). When I use presentation variable, it hard codes the value of the variable name.
    sql is
    select date from work_order where facility = @{p_facility}
    the physical log sql is
select date from work_order where facility = 'p_facility'

  • Report Painter - ERP Financials - Question on Value Variable useage

I want to use a value variable that works in Report Writer (table GLPCT, field MSL [quantity] but cannot select MSL as a variable field in Report Painter to insert the same variable (it is not a selectable characteristic) using the same Library and Table.
Is there a way to make the field selectable in Report Painter in order to select a value variable that uses the field MSL ?  It is a valid field in the Library that I am building the report in.
In building the columns, I can select characteristic fields such as:
    Ledger
    Record Type
    Version
    Fiscal Year
    Profit Center
    Functional Area
    Account number
    Period
    etc
but not MSL Quantity.  Is there configuration to make this (or any field) accessible to Report Painter ?
    Any advice is welcome.....
    Thanks......

Quantity is a key figure. When you create the column values you would get this from the key figure drop list.

  • How to use a characteristic value variable in a formula?

    Hi all,
I have created a characteristic value variable (manual input) for 0CALDAY in a query to get the Start & End date. There is requirement in the report to display a KF showing the duration between Start & End Date.
I have tried to create a Formula Variable with Replacement Path, Ref Char 0CALDAY. In the Replacement Rule, there is an option to Replace Variable With variable. However, I wasn't able to locate the variable I have created for user input.
Any idea how to achieve this?
    Many thanks,
    Yoong-En

    hi,
if you have the start and end dates as user entry then follow this
    1) create a formula variable with reference char as start date of the type customer exit
    2) create another formula with end date as reference char of type customer exit
    3) in the cmod write the code your logic should be in such a way the the value at the user entry should be passed on to this formula variable the same for end date code
    4) create a formula with ( start date formula variable - end date formula variable)
    you can use this code
    WHEN 'ZV_YRFKDAT'.(formula  variable name)
        IF I_STEP = 2. "after the popup
          LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
WHERE VNAM = 'ZV_KEYDAT1'.(user entry variable name)
            CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
            L_S_RANGE-LOW = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW. "low value, e.g.YYYY (2006) part of key date (20060625)
            L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
            L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'EQ'.
            APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
            EXIT.
          ENDLOOP.
repeat teh same for end date
    hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Numeric value variable problem with user exit

    Dear experts,
I've created a variable (numeric value, user exit) and I want to get the value of variable from an user exit.
Actually, I want to convert "0calyear" to a number to be albe to calculate (multiplying, dividing etc).
If there is a possible solution only in FOX, the solution will be the best. However I couldn't find anything.
So, the next solution I am trying is user-exit. But I am in stuck here.
The problem is that I have no idea whether the numeric value variable has any sturcture like other variables(char. value) or not. If yes, what structure it has?
I know, the characterisc value variables have the structure as blow,
        ls_varsel-chanm =
        ls_varsel-seqno =
        ls_varsel-sign  =
        ls_varsel-opt   =
        ls_varsel-low   =
I've tried several times with the same way like above, but it doesn't work when I call the variable in "BPS0" or "UPSPL".
How can I solve it? Please let me know.
    I am using SEM_BW 4.00.
    Many Thanks.
    Bruce

    Hi Ravi,
Sorry, there's a correction. <b>var2 is used for getting the first month of the year selected by the user in var1</b>. If the user doesn't enter a value for var1, then var2 should take first month of current year from var1 which has by default last month of current year (populated in i_step1 from sy-datum). The user can select the value of var1 according to his requirement. Then var 2 should get first month of the year selected. That's why I'm using two exit variables.
It works fine during the initial run of the query. But when the user clicks on the variable button in the toolbar and executes the query, var1 is not being displayed and an error message <i>No value could be determined for var2</i> is shown. All other variables used in the query are displayed except var1.
Krzys, Is the option <i>Can be changed in Query Navigation</i>  available for Exit variables. I'll check that and get back to you.
Boujema, Thanks for the OSS note.
    Thanks
    Hari

  • RPD: How to use multiple-value variables in initialization blocks ?

    Hi all,
I have a set of initialization blocks required for authentication, two of which are running row-wise. The first one sets a multi-valued variable, and the second one uses this variable.
Or at least, should use, because it actually fails. The NQServer log says
[nQSError: 13011] Query for Initialization Block 'My_Init_Block_2' has failed.
[nQSError: 23006] The session variable, NQ_SESSION.MY_VAR_1, has no value definition.
My first variable is initialized in a basic row-wise initialization block. What's more, if I say my 2nd block isn't required for authentication, and I read in a narrative the contents of my first variable, it contains the set of value I expect it to have.
    can anybody please advise?
    thanks in advance!
    Cedric..

There is an example in the OBIEE Server Administration manual that looks very similar to your code except that the whole of the valueof string is quoted:
    select
    NAME, VALUE from RW_SESSION_VARS
    where USERID='VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USERID)' {code}<br /><br /><br /><br />Pete

I have defined a character value variable' processed by 'customer exit'. i am troubleshooting a problem so I need to see the value of this variable. Is there a way to display this variable in the report. If so, what section, rows or columns? And how to configure?

    Hi,
You can add directly the variable, in BEx Analyzer 7.0 you can add variables in the Excel Cell that you would.
    Steps:
    - Select the Excel Cell
    - In the BEx Design Toolbox, select Insert text
    - When you are in Design Mode - click over the text element
    - Go to Constants tab and select the Custom Exit Variable
    - Save the workwook
