DAG Cluster Failed to Resume Primary Active Manager

Hi there,
I ran the StartDagServerMaintenance.ps1 script on our SiteA Exchange server then updated it and rebooted. SiteB Exchange server now has active Mailbox Database and is doing Client Access etc. After reboot of SiteA Exchange we had network issues and in the
process of troubleshooting I deleted the network adapters from Device Manager, and ran netsh int ip reset, then reconfigured them with their static IP's, and static routes for the Replication network.
Site A MAPI Network - 192.168.1.0/24
Site B MAPI Network - 192.168.2.0/24
Site A Replication Network - 10.10.1.0/24
Site B Replication Network - 10.10.2.0/24
Each site has one Exchange Server running all Roles and is in DAC Mode, on Exchange 2010 SP2.
Right now I cannot run the StopDagServerMaintenance.ps1 script because it says
Failed to resume the ability of the server SiteA-EX1 to host the Primary Active Manager, 'cluster.exe /cluster:SiteA-EX1 node SiteA-EX1 /resume' returned 5050.
In the EMC, Organization-Mailbox-DAG Networks, DagNetwork03 and DagNetwork04 say subnet 192.168.1.0/24 and 10.10.1.0/24 are Down and Unavailable.
In Failover Cluster Manager, Cluster Network 3 and Cluster Network 4 are in Status: Down.
I can ping all the subnets and Exchange IP addresses from both Exchange server.
SiteA Database copy is Healthy and no copy count. SiteB is Mounted.
EDIT: Networks are all up, question now is how do I move the PAM to the SiteA?
I tried this command:
Cluster.exe DAG1 group "Cluster Group" /moveto:SiteA-EX1
I get System error 5012 has occurred
The cluster group cannot be found.
The AlternateWitnessShareInUse is the alternate in SiteB.
When I run the command "cluster group" I get this:
Group Node
Status
Cluster Group SiteB-EX1
Online
Available Storage SiteB-EX1
Offline
I dont see the Node for SiteB.

I tried this command:
Cluster.exe DAG1 group "Cluster Group" /moveto:SiteA-EX1
I get System error 5012 has occurred
The cluster group cannot be found.
The AlternateWitnessShareInUse is the alternate in SiteB.
When I run the command "cluster group" I get this:
Group Node
Status
Cluster Group SiteB-EX1

I dont see the Node for SiteB.
Hi,
Have you tried to run Cluster Group "Cluster Group" /move

  • DAG/cluster network troubleshooting

We have a 2 DAG cluster EX01 and EX02. EX02 holds all active copies and EX01 holds all passive copies.
When trying to move active copies from 02 to 01 it fails everytime. Also trying to move Primary active manager from 02 to 01 fails. There is an error in Cluster manager: Cluster resource 'IPv4 Static Address 1 (Cluster Group)' in clustered service
or application 'Cluster Group' failed. Event ID 1069.  All Replication test and health test come back good. I think the error is related to network design and need some advice.
    EX01  (HUB,CAS, MB)                 EX02 (MB)
    Mapi 10.11.1.4/24                   Mapi 10.11.1.20/24
    Replication 10.0.5.2/30           Replication 10.0.5.1/30
We have a single DAG IP 10.11.1.21  does it need to be on the same network as replication ?? Do we need to have 2 IPs for DAG??
We want EX01 be the primary and hold active copies and EX02 be secondary
    Please advice

Yes that have never been an issue - the DAG is online all passive copies are healthy. The issue is that EX01 can hold only passive copies - when I run move-activedatabasecopy cmdlet it fails to mount it every time.  Currently EX01 holds all
passive copies and EX02 holds all active copies and it should be the other way around.  It looks like the versions of updates/rollups are slightly different between 2 servers so I'm exploring options how to sync updates

    Hi,
Can you create a test database and then try to move it ? Paste the error if you get any.

  • Start managed server in a cluster fail

    Hi,
I'm new in Oracle Weblogic, and I'm testing Weblogic 10.3.
I setup multiple IP in my laptop as follows:
    10.0.0.183 devpc
    10.0.2.183 node1
    10.0.3.183 node2
And I configured a domain with Configuration Wizard as follows:
    AdminServer
    Listen Address:10.0.0.183
    Listen Port:7001
    ManagedServer_1
    Machine:(none)
    Cluster:Cluster_1

    ManagedServer_2
    Machine:(none)
    Cluster:Cluster_1
    Listen Address:10.0.3.183
    Listen Port:7001
    When I started ManagedServer_1 with the command "*startManagedWebLogic.cmd ManagedServer_1 http://10.0.0.183:7001*",
managed server started to RUNNING state successfully, and after few seconds, I got these error.

  • Active Manager failed to mount database Mailbox Database?

So we had our stuff working fine with exchange 2010 rc and 08 r2 rtm... We installed antivirus on our server and now get the below message.... Everything "seems" to work though... We get two of these messages per reboot though... one with the main box database and one for the public folder one....
Again all seems to work okay, we have tried to remove AV but didnt fix.
    Any suggestions?

Failed to mount database "General Users". Error: An Active Manager operation failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: Database 'General Users' on server 'EX02' cannot be mounted due to a previous error: At '12/3/2014

    Hi,
From your description, it is recommended to suspend the failed database copy at first using the cmdlet below.
    Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "xxx"
And then reseed the database with a new copy using Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "xxx" -DeleteExistingFiles cmdlet.
What's more, here is a helpful thread for your reference.
    Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy

Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Primary active fails it do not transfers jobs to secondary active

    Hi Team,
I have a scenario, installed SQL 2012 EE Always on.
I'm trying to configure log-ship with listener IP. Whenever primary active fails it do not transfers jobs to secondary active (replica). Primary and secondary active are bind by a listener IP.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Did the LSCopy job fail with any error message?
Please check the error message in the Log Shipping job history and it will give us more information of why the job was not executed.
LSbackup_<dbname> on the primary server instance.
    LSCopy_<primaryServername>_<dbname> on the secondary server.
    Thanks.

  • DAG - Cluster problem

    Hi,
    I have MS-Exchange 2010 SP2
servers on different subnets on 2
    sites.
    Server Exch2010-1 subnet 192.168.1.0/24
on site 1 (PROD - Active
    Mailboxes)
    Server Exch2010-2 subnet 192.168.1.1/24
on site 2 (DRP - Passive
    Mailboxes)
I created a DAG with these 2 servers
    as members
    DAG IP subnet 192.168.1.0/24
    (same subnet on site1)
Replication only enabled on 3th subnet
192.168.1.3/24 (streched VLAN on sites 1
    and 2)
Everything seems OK (OWA/MAPI/Backups...) / DAG appears in AD and DNS
    I have a 1 question and 2 problems
    Question:
Should my DAG also have an IP address in the
    subnet of site 2?
    Problems:
When site 2 loses the connection with the site 1, the cluster
fails. (the mails are delayed / Backups fail)
When site 1 and site 2 are connected back and the cluster is reset online (manually), the mailboxes are active on site 2,
where as site 2 has activation prefernece 2 and site 1 has preference activiation 1
    Any idea?
    Thank you in advance

Ok. gotcha. Im not a fan of stretched VLANS across a WAN. But if there is only one true subnet, then you only need one IP Address for the cluster.
Since you are crossing a WAN, ensure your File Share Witness is in the primary data center and you have enabled DAC Mode.

  • Hyper-v Replica: Planned Failover from Cluster to another Cluster Failed

    Hi Guys,
i have one issue and i cannot find a way to troubleshooting
i Have one Primary Site running 8 nodes Hyper-v with Failover Cluster and Hyper-v Replica Broker confguration
i have one Replica Site  running 8 nodes Hyper-v with Failover Cluster and Hyper-v Replica Broker
    Replica Broker Configuration:
    https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=45C59B28F67FC71C%212271
both side are pinging and name resolution is ok
    all ports are open
The Virtual Machine Replication is ok
The Planned Failover cannot complete and show me this simple error
    "failed"
i have no message on event Viewer
    Error:
    https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=45C59B28F67FC71C%212270
Planned Failover from Cluster (Primary site) to another Cluster (Replica site) with Replica
Start Hyper-V Manager pr failover cluster console on the primary server and choose a virtual machine to fail over.
    1. Turn off the virtual machine that you want to fail over.
    2. Right-click the virtual machine, point to Replication, and then point to
    Planned Failover.
    3. Click Fail Over to actually transfer operations to the virtual machine on the Replica server.

    Hi Samuel,
    In the original post :
    Tests: 1 -
Planned Failover from Cluster to StandAlone Hyper-v is ok
    Test: 2
Planned Failover from Standalone hyper-v to Cluster is ok
    Test:3
Planned Failover from Cluster (Primary site) to another Cluster (Replica site) with Replica
There is no  standalone hyper-v to standalone hyper-v between two sites .
After the last test , if they still can not do planned failover , maybe you can focus on network configuration .

  • Failed to resume automatic updates error 0x8024afff

I am running SCCM 2012 R2 with only one primary site. Windows updates seem to synchronize ok and i can manually push out updates and they install correctly. My issue happens when i try to deployed Automatic Updates for the first time. When i check the
ruleengine.log on the site server. i see that the rule doesn't find a single update to install even when i pick very simple parameters for the ADR to pick up. When i look at the updatehandler.log on the client side all i get is "Failed to resume automatic
updates error 0x8024afff" and it is unable to resume. our site only has 150 devices including servers. I'm only trying to configure an ADR for workstations. I have WSUS installed locally on the SCCM server and I am using a Remote Distribution point on
a Windows Server 2012 R2. I haven't been able to find much on this error code other than "0x8024AFFF WU_E_AU_UNEXPECTED An Automatic
Updates error not covered by another WU_E_AU * code." and no forums have been very helpful. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Here's what i get in the ruleengine.log when i start an ADR. The parameters i have set have been simple. such as choosing "security" updates when there are a few security updates that are required. I have tried to choose almost every single category minus
    products.

This appears to be an error message which has it roots in MS DTC, Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
This indicates that you somewhere manage to get a distributed transaction. This could be because of two things:
    1) There are triggers on the tables that accesses linked server.
    2) Your client code dabbles with some transaction class, like TransactionScope or similar.

  • The SMB client failed to resume a handle on a file share with continuous availability

    Hi.
We have a 2-node WS2012 cluster that has a file server role with couple shares configured.
We're however constantly getting spammed by the following errors in the eventlog:
    1) event 1002, source: SmbServer, message: "RKF failure - SRV2 failed to get acknowledgement from Resume Key filter for persistent handle request."
    2) SCOM has an alert opened with this description: "SMB client failed to resume Continuously Available (CA) handle as Resume Key Filter is not acknowledging the handle." Per the alert knowledge, we've inspected ResumeKeyFilter eventlog, but it
contains only informational message and warnings and none of those are from the time the alert was created.

  • Active/Standby failover automatic primary active

I have 2 ASAs 5510 with same physical configuration and running ok with active/standby failover mode. Like we have PREEMPT command in active/active failover to get back primary active after its been rebooted from failed mode. This command makes primary back to active and makes secondary firewall standby automatically.
Need help to know any such command for active/standby failover for automatic primary active. Currently we have to use command FAILOVER ACTIVE on primary to make it active manually.

Remember, failover in ASA works differently than HSRP. ASA does NOT use
HSRP. Furthermore, there is NO HSRP ip address in ASA either. You are
    talking about two different technologies.
Think of it this way. HSRP technology works very similar to VRRP and
Juniper NSRP. All of these technologies use virtual IP address. If you
have two devices, you will have an Virtual IP address, in addition
to the physical ip addresses of the two devices. ASA does not use the
    extra VIP.
