DAQ Ethernet IP Honeywell

Hi,
At the moment I am trying to connect with 2 DAQ that are on a remote system using 1 Ethernet (UTP) Cable.
These 2 DAQ tell a C-frame how to measure thinness.
The problem that I am facing right now is that I don't know what the IP address is from my remote NIC because it is commanded by the C-frame card.
This card is from Honeyzell measurx.
Can somebody give me a good technique to get to know this remote IP address?
Kind Regards
Steven

Steven,
Frist try to give manual IP Address.  Otherwise ping one by one on your network with help of System Exec.vi and findout the MAC address, once u identify the MAC address u can get IP Address.  The findout MAC Address click here.

  • Gestion multi fifo (multi DAQ) non synchronisés

    Bonjour à tous !
    Mise en situation :
    - 3 DAQ Ethernet
    - Acquisition en continue pour un programme de monitoring  (Producteur)
    - Le traitement des données consistent à:  (Consommateur)
     * Mise à l'échelle
     * Recherche de seuil
     * Enregistrement en fichier
    Le problème :
Si j'ai un problème de synchronisation sur un DAQ comment faire pour traiter les données de façon correcte.
    Pour l'exemple chaque waveforms du
    DAQ A serons appelé aX
    DAQ B serons appelé bX
    DAQ C serons appelé cX
Le temps sera communément appelé tX
    Exemple
    t0   a0 b0 c0
    t1   a1 b1 c1
    t2   a2 b2
    t3   a3 b3 c3
    t4   a4     c4
    Merci !

  • Different Excitation values in the Same Task

    Hello
I am trying to acquire pressure signals from two pressure transducers simultaneously using DAQ Assistant. I am using NI DAQ Ethernet Chassis with NI 9237 Module. One of the transducers requires an excitation voltage of 10 vdc while the other transducer requires 5 vdc excitation. I created a DAQ Assistant task with two channels (one for each transducer). When I run the VI it returns the following error:
Error -200257 occurred at DAQ Assistant
    Possible Reason(s):
Excitation property must be the same for related physical channels.
Refer to the documentation for information about setting excitation across related physical channels.
    Conflicting Properties
    Property: AI.Excit.Src
    Corresponding Value: Internal
    Property: AI.Excit.Val
    Corresponding Value: 10.0
    Channel Name: Pressure_1
It looks like using different excitations is causing the problem. Can you please help me solve this problem to be able to acquire simultaneous measurements from the two sensors and provide the required excitation for each one.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    wisjaf12,
I believe the problem you are seeing is because there is only one bank of channels on the 9237 and they all share the same EX+ / EX- signals. From the Operating Instructions and Specifications:
"The NI 9237 is isolated from earth ground. However, the individual channels are not isolated from each other. The EX+, EX–, and T– signals are common among all channels."
The explanation for the 9237 is similar to this KnowledgeBase document. Hope this helps, looks like you might need another 9237 if you are going to have sensors with different excitation values.

  • Daq usb to ethernet

I am using a DAQ (I think it is a 6009 but am not sure of the exact model number) and currently I have it connected to my laptop using the provided usb cable to read in digital data. I was wondering if it is possible to hook up a usb-to-ethernet adapter to the usb port on the daq and connect it to my laptop using an ethernet cable. Is this possible? If so will by labview code running on my laptop change? Currently I am using the dap assistant to read in from the daq.

I think we need to get some terms straight. If you are talking about a USB-Ethenet adapter where the adapter is an addtional network interface for the pc, there is no way to even physically connect this to the USB-6009. The 6009 has an B type connector and you use a cable with a A type connector that plugs into a hub on the pc. USB-Ethernet adaptors willhave the same or often just a cable with a A type adapter that can only be plugged into a pc. The Ethernet side of the adapter has an RJ-45 connector and obviously, you can't plug your DAQ device into that.
On the other hand, there are USB extenders and this may be what you mean by USB-Ethernet. Many of these extenders use CAT-5 cable between the pc and the device. One part of the extender plugs in the A type connector on the pc and the other part of the extender also has an A type connector that you would plug your device into. I believe most of these amplify the signals and with low noise CAT-5 cable, you can place the USB device further away than normal. I have seen things called USB servers and these are network devices. Judging by questions other users have made about extenders, you may or may not get the extender to work. Apparently NI does not test or certify any extender. I would suggest doing a search of the forum for 'USB extender' to see what other users have gotten to work.

  • Ethernet communication with E-series DAQ

I have several DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 PCMCIA cards. I have accessed them via ethernet in the past when they were installed in network connected laptops. Are there any NI or third party products that a PCMCIA card can be pluuged into that will connect to an ethernet network so I don't have to put several laptops out in the plant? I don't want to change everything over to Fieldpoint.

Wow, this is an amazing coincidence. I'm sure you were just about to give up hope on this idea. I'd read your post and was just talking with a friend of mine who had heard of this company, ViaSat, that produces such a device. So here's a link to the ViaSat MiniDAT. I don't know anything about it or what it's limitations are, but at least it's a start! Looks pretty nifty to me.

  • New project using Daq Assistant or not ?

    Hi everybody,
I need to create a software to do some realtime acquisition & analysis.
I trained myself a little bit on c# lessons to get use to this programming language; I’m also discovering Measurement Studio & Visual Studio. (I’ve background in C++).
My software will have 2 modes :
Continuous acquisition, signal plotting + signal processing & plotting (fft, 1/3 octave band filter)
Triggered acquisition, signal plotting + signal processing & plotting (fft, , 1/3 octave band filter)
I have examples in my National Instruments directory which don't use daq Assistant and code is different from generated files with daq Component.
    If I use Daq Assistant ( http://www.ni.com/tutorial/4652/en/ )
I know that the code to create channel is stored in DaqTask.cs
    Plotting :
    NationalInstruments.AnalogWaveform<double>[] acquiredData = daqTaskComponent1.Read();
    waveformGraph1.PlotWaveforms(acquiredData);
When I look to examples, like "MStudioVS2010\DotNET\Examples\DAQmxWithUI\SpectrumAnalyzer\cs "
all code to create channel is generated in Mainform.cs, there is no Daq Assistant (http://www.ni.com/tutorial/5409/en/ )
and there is a slight difference between acquired type :
    private AnalogWaveform<double> data = new AnalogWaveform<double>(1000);
    data = reader.EndReadWaveform(ar);
    acquiredDataWaveformGraph.PlotWaveform(data);
    Questions :
What is the difference between AnalogWaveform<double> and AnalogWaveform<double>[] ? why it's not the same type ? I need to do some signal processing with this signal, so what type should I use for my application  ?
I didn't succeed to configure my 2 modes in daq Assistant (continuous and triggered acquisition) is it possible or should I create 2 Items in my solution, one for continuous acquisition and on for triggered acquisition ?
    Kind regards,

Check out the downloads section of iLounge.com. There are a handful or two of applications that will help you transfer songs from the iPod to the computer.
Another option is to network the two computers together and transfer the iTunes folder to the new Mac. All you need is an ethernet cable and to turn on file sharing in the Sharing preference panel. Depending on how old your "older" Mac is, you might need a crossover ethernet cable.
A third option is to hook up the two computers using a Firewire cable. On the older Mac make sure it is shut down, hook the two computers up, turn on the older Mac while holding down the "T" key. On the new Mac you should see the old Mac's hard drive show up. Just find the iTunes music folder and copy it over. You could also use the Migration Assistant which will be in the Utilities folder of the new Mac.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to measure current and voltage and rpm with daq device

i am measuring current and voltage and am wondering should i use shunt resistors or current sensors hall effect sensors. i have a pci 6221 and a scc-68 breakout box. what specifications or size should the shunt resistor/current sensor be or should i use another device to measure the currrent and voltage. do i need any other safety device between the resistors, current sensors and the scc-68 breakout box when measuring the current and voltage. will the daq card pci 6221 pick up a signal from the resistor. what terminals should the wires from the resistors and current sensors be connected to in the scc-68. i am using a proximity switch to measure rpm of a motor. should the proximity switch be 2 or 3wire connection. should it have an analog or digital connection and is a power supply required to power the proximity switch and should it have an npn or pnp connection

    hello,
i was going to use a 20amp 50mv, or a 20amp 100mv current shunt and connect wires directly into the AI input terminals of the scc-68 from the current shunt would these be suitable. would current shunts such as these be suitable to use http://uk.farnell.com/elc/sh10020/shunt-sh10020-20a-100mv-1-class/dp/1319576 or http://uk.farnell.com/datel/3020-01098-0/shunt-50mv-20a/dp/1339338
is it ok to use either a current shunt or should a hall effect sensor be used  such as this http://ie.farnell.com/honeywell-s-c/csla2cd/sensor-hall-effect/dp/1082269 . which of them would be more accurate or are both of them fairly accurate.
when i am measuring voltage can i connect two resistors between the positive and negative of the wires going to the battery and connect two wires from either side of the resistor directly into the analog inputs of the scc-68 and measure the 12-15 volts directly would the pci6221 and scc-68 be able to measure the voltage drop across the resistor.
i wanted to measure rpm also does it matter whether the proximity switch has 2 or 3 wires and should it have an analog or digital/frequency output for cponnecting to the scc-68

  • How do I correctly time while loops using SCPI and VISA/Ethernet communication to send DC current Values to a Power supply?

I'm rather new to using labview and I having an
issue with a test Data Aquisition lab I'm trying to setup using a
    Keithley 6221 AC/DC current source and a basic PCI M-series NI-DAQmx.
First of all, I'm looking to update the  current value on a power
supply at a rate of atleast 10Hz and I'm using SCPI commands and VISA
communication through ethernet to do so.  Attached below is the VI I
    have written.
The issue I'm having is this:
        My VI will
loop through the values fine in software, or so it seems.  I am unable
to get the Power supply to update sequentially if I don't set my loop
delay to anything greater than 130ms.  If I try to run the loop faster
it starts skipping values instead of counting 1,2,3,4,5,1,2,...etc.  it
goes 1,2,4,5,2,4,1,2 on the display of the power supply and my DAQ unit
also skips these values so I know that the number just isn't getting
read to the Power supply in time.  I was wondering if this was due to
my sloppy programming or if it is a hardware issue, my computer or the
method of communication to the power supply?  Is this due to the fact
that I'm using ethernet and VISA communication?  Is there a faster way
to communicate or is GPIB faster?  Any input at all would be extremely
    helpful.
On a side note:  Right now I'm using an pre-determined
array of values that I can update on the fly but in the future this
with be put into a  closed-loop control system.  The value for the
power supply output will be determined by the loop and sent that way.

  • Utilizing NI DAQ hardware on a remote system.

I noticed that the new version of Measurement & Automation Explorer for LabVIEW 8 now has a "Remote Systems" tab.  Would this enable me to have say Computer A setup with some DAQ hardware and then utilize that hardware at Computer B over a 100 or 1000mbps ethernet network within LabVIEW?
If not, what would I need to be able to do that?  I've played around with the web publishing tool, and would rather have the actual LabVIEW program running on Computer B rather then on Computer A.
    Thank you for your input!
    -nickerbocker

Thank you for your reply GDE [DE]!
That’s too bad.  I assumed too much and thought we
were able to do something fancy.
I work at a test facility where the tests that we run are hazardous.
We have a lot of concrete walls between us and the tests that are run.  We
have a test console setup where we have our entire test monitoring tools in a
central location.  The problem is, whenever we make a new test chamber all
the transducer lines have to be drawn to our test console.  These lines
consist of analog outputs from Omega DP units that power and read pressure
    transducers and K-type thermocouple channels.
This makes it difficult, if not impossible when time is
constraining, to setup for a new test.  Some of our newer test chambers
and rooms that we have added to our facility are further and further away from
our test console.  Long analog lines are not good for noise reasons.
Long thermocouple channels are even worse since the signal is so small and varying
temperature gradients across the line can affect measurement readings.
The solution that seems apparent to me is: why don't we
read our transducer values closest to the test cells and network that
information back to the test console through a high speed gigabit network?
I was hoping that a remote data acquisition computer would
just consist of an operating system, the hardware and hardware drivers for DAQ,
and then MAX.  The computers at the test console would be in charge of
actually administrating the test procedures (Digital I/O) and DAQ through the
    network.
I have looked at the web features available in our license
of LabVIEW 8 Professional Developer and I'm pretty impressed with its
capabilities.  The problem is I don't want to have to obtain a LabVIEW 8
license for each remote computer.  It is just too expensive.  I can
build executables with my developer’s license of LabVIEW 8, but I don't think
that the web server features can be built into an executable LabVIEW program
    (or can they?).
Can I use this shared variables solution that you speak of
    in a LabVIEW built executable?
I hope that I have provided enough information about my
problem to help stimulate some possible solutions and more discussion.  I
really appreciate the help that these forums provide and hope that I am able to
    give back to this community.

  • DAQ No Signal in Test Window and 200284 Error

    Hi!
I'm working on a university project to control the speed of a motor using LabVIEW.
My program seems to run successfully only the first time it in the day. If I try to run it again I get a 200284 error ("Some or all of the samples requested have not yet been acquired").  I've tried resetting the computer, and the devices in MAX.
When I open the 4472 test panel in MAX, choose:
    Coupling: DC
    Rate: 20000
    # Points to read: 2000 points
    Aqusition mode: Continuous
    Autoscale Chart: <check>
and press start, there is no waveform displayed on the chart. Occasionally when it does display a waveform it has a large amount of noise (spikes of up +-10V) when the reading should be 0V.
We have a PXI-1000B computer with a PXI-4472 DAQ card.  We are using LabVIEW 8.6 and MAX version 5.3.
    I'll welcome any suggestions!
    Thanks in advance!

Currently, I'm not seeing any signal.
It was working fine for a few days, and now it has stopped working again.  The waveform chart has been blank for at least 15min now (like in the screenshot).  All the other channels are the same (ai0-ai7).
Every time I press start it becomes grayed out but no waveform appears.  The same is true for "Acquisition Mode: Finite".  It appears to be waiting for the captured data, but nothing arrives.
So far today, I've tried: reseting the 4472 in MAX; reseting the computer; and turning everything off and starting agian after lunch...
I have ruled out the Ethernet connection as a problem.  It works fine by itself without data acquisition.  In my main program, an Error-66 comes up for that first because the Ethernet connection times out as the loop is waiting for the data acquisition read (I believe anyway).

  • Connecting TC to Honeywell DVR

I am the proud owner of a new Mini Mac with Thunderbolt Display.  Only issue is that I have previously always used PC.  I am trying like **** to figure out port forwarding with use of time capsule.  Here is my set up:
Motorola Cable Model (connected to) Time Capsule (running all my home wi-fi.
I have a Honeywell DVR HRG85 with a connection to a net gear wireless adapter (WNCE2001) which I want to port forward and allow access to view via internet outside my home as well as via the HGR app available for iPad and iPhone.
Security system team has been at my home on and off for at least 100 hours and tell me they cannot make it work with TC.  Question, can anyone here help me out?  They claim I need to purchase an additional router to make it "easy" and not use my TC.
Please help, going nutz with poor answers...

Please help, going nutz with poor answers...
They claim I need to purchase an additional router to make it "easy" and not use my TC.
That might be a very good answer. Is this the very poor answer you are referring to.. ??
To be blunt.. the TC is a router with an amazing lack of controls.
The new utility lacks the ability to see the local Logs.. how you can make a utility .. call it a utility and then say it cannot view logs.
How can you do anything with tools like that??
So step 1. Load 5.6 utility into your new shiny mini.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. but you might need to give permissions in the Mac to open files you DIDN'T download from Apple.
Drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 (now 6.2 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.
For screen shots see this post.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4668746?tstart=0
I have to tell you I don't believe the 6.1 utility even does port forwarding correctly.
Then give us all the info .. what ports do you need opened.
Please post screen shots of exactly how you are doing that.
And the setup of the wireless AP.. to make sure it isn't routing.
Can you tie it by ethernet just for a trial.
And how are you getting the public IP for remote access.. ?? Does the DVR run a dyndns software.
I would serious consider using a standard wireless router.. cheap and good. Netgear WNDR3800 running gargoyle firmware.. excellent.
And use the TC in bridge mode as backup target and for wireless is also fine.

  • R series intelligent DAQ, NI-Compact RIO , NI single board RIO

    Hi,
I'm in the phase of choosing an FPGA to use in programming some DSP modules. The thing is that while I'm reading about the different technologies to be used, I find it difficult to know how will these devices be connected to my PC and programmed. For example, when using R series intelligent DAQs, do I have to get a compact RIO as well , or can I get a PCI-bus  R - DAQ and connect it to the PC.
Some clarification of how to use each of these devices will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
     Walid

Just to elaborate on what Venkatesh said
With a compact RIO you will connect your PC to the RIO using Ethernet, direct through a cross over or through a network hub.
This introductory video will teach you how to install, configure, and program the latest NI CompactR...
A PCI R series card, just plugs straight into your Windows computer PCI slot.
A PXI card will plug into a PXI chassis and will give you one of 2 programming options
     1. If you have a PXI system controller running Windows XP with the appropriate drivers and version of LV you can program the FPGA directly in the PXI chassis
     2. You can connect to the PXI chassis through Ethernet and program the FPGA from there.
Compiling and deploying your program will work the same no matter what connection you use.

  • LabView and Ethernet I/O modules (from Advantech)

I'm a LV beginner and I need to communicate via Ethernet with DAQ modules (ADAM-6000 series from Advantech). What is the best and easy way to communicate using Ethernet ? LV has built in VI's to do this ? I've read and heard a lot about DataSockets and OPC servers, it's necessary to go this way? I've LV 4.1 and 5.1, Need I to get LV 6i or 6.1 ? Should I acquire some toolkit for LV ?
    I'd appreciate your help.
    Paolo Santos
    Automation Engineer.

    Paolo,
I am not a expert on the ADAM-6000 series from Advantech. But here are some of the options I think you have. Advantech most probably has a driver(dlls) for the modules. Once you configure your modules through a configuration utility, you can use the LabVIEW 'Call Library Function' to make direct calls to that driver and be able to communicate with the ADAM-6000. I think if you are a LV beginner, this could take quite some effort to figure-out the driver calls.
If the modules communicate via TCP/IP, FTP or UDP, You can use the LabVIEW Internet toolkit to communicate with it.
A better option could be to set up a OPC Server for the ADAM-6000 and use the simple datasocket client examples to communicate with it. A easy solution could be to get a N
I distributed I/O hardware- FieldPoint, system(http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=1206〈=US). With the FieldPoint driver installed you can select from the huge library of FieldPoint LabVIEW shipping examples and be able to get your application up and running in a very short time.
