DAQ USB6008 in diadem DAQ

Bought Diadem with DAQ bundle and a USB-6008 hardware to easy control and log data after a sales representant recommendation, but it seems like diadem does not support NI-DAQmx fully and that the USB6008 does not support traditional NI-DAQ. Correct?
I get the 6008 to work in the devices and interfaces/NI-DAQmx in measurement explorer so hardware is ok. Running WinXP, Diadem 11

Hi Tom,
You are correct regarding the NI-DAQmx and Traditional NI-DAQ support for the USB-6008 card.
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6913#usb
Have you created NI-DAQmx Global Virtual Channels in MAX, DIAdem need these to communicate with the USB-6008.
You can find how you do this in the DIAdem manual page 2-1:

  • LCD display using DAQ USB6008

    hello,
firstly, im stil new to LabVIEW actually...hope someone can help me out with my problem.
thanks a lot for those who willing to help..
im trying to use the DAQ USB6008 to simulate a 16 x 2 character LCD display.
    im using LabVIEW 8.5...
can anyone teach me how to simulate the LCD using LabVIEW and the DAQ USB6008 ?

The good news is that the 6008 has 12 digital lines so you don't have to work the data in two 4 bit operations. It also looks like the data is represented as ASCII. You will convert each character you want to display into a string and you can type cast that to a numeric. Wire that value to a digital DAQmx Write. Something like is shown below. It does not show the control lines. It looks like you would just need to add the signal to clock the data in.

    Hello Thiyagu,
The following steps describe how to configure a measurement with NI hardware in DIAdem:
Configure your hardware in MAX. It is necessary to define “Global Virtual Channels” in MAX for each signal you would like to measure with DIAdem.
Open DIAdem DAC and choose “NI DAQ driver” (icon DAQ) in the toolbar “Driver inputs”.
Open the “NI DAQ” block and select the signals to measure
Complete you DAC scheme with other function blocks of DIAdem DAC and start the measurement.

  • Daq-datei in Diadem auswählen

    Hallo,

  • DAQmx driver for DAQ 6009? Need DAQ Assistant in Block Panel palette.

Do I understand things right?  The Ni USB DAQ 6009 is supported in DAQmx base and not DAQmx, or is this only true for the 6008? I need the DAQ Assistant in my LV 2009 Block Panel palette.  Do I go to my Ni-DAQmx 8.8 CDs, or do I download something.  Maybe I have the DAQmx base already?  I'm going to search my palette and NI Max.  I am also going to look at http://www.ni.com/support/daq/version_portable.htm#du.   If I'm going about this all wrong, please help.
    Thanks
    Norm

    Hi Dennis
My DAQmx Cds are 8.8.  I don't  have a selection for the DAQ Assistant on my block panel palette, so I'm looking to get an update for my DAQmx driver for my USB 6009 DAQ that I'll be using with my  student software for LabVIEW 2009 version 9.0.  I've looked at a NI document "NI-DAQmx and NI-DAQ Driver Support: Portable Devices"  that was published on Jan 17, 2013.  It says for Windows 7 I should be using 9.6mx, but this document make no reference to a version of LabVIEW.  The date of the document is 1/17/13; maybe it is refering to  only to version LabVIEW 2013.  Can you help?
From what I've read I believe I need to use DAQmx and not DAQmx base, but I can't help wondering if the DAQmx base has something to do with the "NI DAQmx Device Basics" that I see on the right side of the screen when I'm in NI MAX getting ready to run the test panels.    ?????
    Thank you for your time

  • Trying to add a DAQ device to NI-DAQ without hardware

I am developing software for a DAQCard1200 on Windows 2000. I develop most of my software on a system without the actual hardware installed. Since the NI-DAQ dll will error on load under Microsoft C++ unless you have a device configued, I used to configure a device manualy on the development system under NI-DAQ.
I am trying to use the latest version of NI-DAQ (6.9). I cannot seem to add a DAQ device unless I actually have the hardware installed.
How can I work around this to add a device without the hardware or how can I get the dll to load without a device configured?

I am not sure how to add any DAQ devices to MAX. When I right click Devices & Interfaces, I only get a list of SCXI, PXI and VXI devices/chassis. Is there another way of adding devices or expanding the list?

Here is one approach: save a copy of each VI that calls a DAQ function.
Save the copy with the same name in a different folder called Dummy.
ENSURE you check the box "save without updating callers".
In that Dummy folder, edit the VIs to remove DAQ calls & return fake
values: zero, 5 VM, random values, whatever is appropriate.
Now preload all the dummy VIs, load up your main applicaiton, and you
will have an application that runs without DAQ.
Make an executable & install it.
This is a useful trick that predates dynamic loading, & you need not
rewrite your VIs to use dynamic loading.
You'll get up & running quicker.
(In the long run, you would need to write these dummy VIs anyway for
    dynamic loading.)

  • A beginner with Daq-Card1200 and NI-Daq Driver

I want to manually trigger data collection at 10/second and list my 4 sampled analog inputs in an XL spread sheet the simplest possible way. Please help! Examples? step by step setup?

    Hi Brianb,
There are a variety of ways to trigger data collection and import the data in to Excel. If you are more familiar with Visual Basic programming, you can use Measurement Studio for Visual Basic to make calls to NI-DAQ and return the data into Excel. Or, if you are more familiar with LabVIEW programming, you can use the examples Sastry mentioned in the other answer. For maximum flexibility and development expansion, using either software package will make things easier down the road.
If you only plan to use Excel to acquire data and do not need development flexibility, you can use a software package called Measure. Click here for information about Measure on our Web site. On
e thing to be aware of is that Measure support is provided entirely through the Web (phone and e-mail support is not available for Measure).
For future development flexibility and consideration, I would recommend you to consider using either Measurement Studio (text-based programming) or LabVIEW (graphical programming).
    Hope this helps!

  • Can I install an older version of traditional DAQ that support legacy DAQ with DAQmx for support of a new card?

I have a LabPC+ that works fine, but is not supported in the latest versions of NI DAQ.  I also have a 6024E that I would like to use.  I know that the version of DAQ that supports the LabPC+ also supports that 6024E, but I would prefer to use the latest DAQmx with this.  Is this possible?

    Hi Brain:
Doesn't look like it, the PC+ will only go up to 6.9.3 tradition DAQ
    http://www.ni.com/support/daq/versions_legacy.htm
while the 6024E will go up to 7.4.1 traditional or 7.5mx or 8.0mx, dependiong on OS.
    http://www.ni.com/support/daq/versions_pci_pxi.htm
I assumed these cards were PCI based.
I am not a DAQ expert, so hopefully someone can verify this.

  • PCI 1200 DAQ - Could not find DAQ Assitant

    Hello
I ahve been given Lagacy DAQ 1200, according to NI appropriate driver shold be DAQ 6.9.1. I can detect PCI 1200 and DAQ 6.9.1 on MAX but could not see DAQ assistant on Block diagram. I just wanted to generate square wave and being able to control frequency and duty cycle.

In here it says 1200 requires 6.9.1 or earlier I had latest but I installed older one, I have gone through manual as well but it doesn't say anything about which version of LabVIEW to be used.
I dont even think if its possible to have DAQ  and DAQmx both in parallel, one to detect hardware and other to give me programming.
Also Can I use MAX test panel to generate signals ??? Are the actual signals or virtual ?

  • Problem with DAQ in while loop and Graphs

    Hello,
I'm new here so I apologize if I posted this on the wrong board
    This is my "situation":
I need to make a simple PID controller which takes information (process variable) from an outside source (a NI's DAC connected through the USB port ) which is accomplished using NI-DAQ as an input, and the PID's output goes to the second NI-DAQ which is also connected using DAC to an actuator which in my case regulates the air pressure. (VI attached)
    My problem is the following.
Both of the NI-DAQ I placed using DAQ Assist, require to be in a while loop.
-If I place them in separate loops, I have the problem of passing information between the Input NI-DAQ and the PID, and also between the PID and the Output NI-DAQ.
-If I place them both in one big loop, an error occurs saying that the selected buffer size is too small (Error -200609).
The timing settings for the DAQ's N samples, 100 samples to read at the rate of 1k (I also tried with Continuous samples and many different combinations of Samples to Read an Rate but without success).
Should I wire them with the same dt(s)?
The other thing I need to do (I'm also writing it here in order not to open new topics) is show the following 3 signals on a Graph (process variable (dynamic data type)(range 4mA - 20mA), PID output (double)(range 4mA - 20mA), and the Set Point (double)(range 0 to inf))
Firstly, is it possible to show the first two on a scale from 0 to 100 without changing the PID's output which needs to be 4-20?
Secondly, which graph should I use if I have different data types? (I tried the Waveform Chart, and succeeded in showing the first two; the third just messes everything up)
I would also have to make a legend explaining which signal is which (I see that this is possible with the Mixed Signal Graph).
I know this is probably too much to ask, but I'd be grateful for any help
    Thank you in advance

This is the best option---Use QUEUE or Functional global or something else to tranfer the data to and fro
How  do I make that QUEUE or Functional global?
-If I place them both in one big loop, an error occurs saying that the selected buffer size is too small (Error -200609).
    Have
you tried increasing the buffer? Is the acquisition happening
parallelly (means to say the first DAQ not wired (error terminal) to
    second DAQ)
Well the buffer is, at least how I understood it, the option Number of Samples when in Continuous Samples mode. Concerning the parallel acquisition, do you mean I should wire the error ports of both of the DAQs?

  • Record all the data acquired by DAQ

    Hi all,
I have a problem when I tried to record all the data acquired by the DAQ card. My DAQ is NI 6259, and the Labview version is 2009.
Basically, what I need do is using multiple channels to get the voltages of different point, then I subtract values of two channel (V+ and V-) to get voltage value between two points. In my vi, the sampling mode is continuous and the rate is 100 KHz, DAQmx reading is inside a while loop, and the numbers of samples per channel is set to be 100. After each loop execution I would get 100 data.  I just used the format into file to write the data into a .txt file. It seems after 1 loop only the last one data is recorded instead of 100.  Previously I averaged the 100 data inside the acquisition loop to get one data, so the writing function is OK but it really slows down the program. So I want to write all the raw data to txt file so later I can process them in Matlab.  Is there any way to achieve this? Thank you very much.
The attached is the my vi for 2 channels voltage measurement and the current source control sub vi. I am new to Labview so the question really bothers me even after I read some similar topics in the forum.

Thank you for you reply. I tried that, it actually record more data per pulse than before, but less pulses were  recorded (there should be 8 pulses in 20 seconds time but only 2 were recorded), I think it was because the for loop inside slows down the program execution, and sometimes the error 200279 occurred.  I think it would be better to separate the reading and recording process. Someone suggests me rather than writing to the file inside the loop, accumulate the data from all of the loop iterations to generate one large array containing all of the samples then pass that to Format Into File outside the loop. Do you know how to achieve that? I tried the as below, it seems totally wrong , only two data was written.
(The subvi nameed 1 (see attachment) converts the 2D array to 1D ) Thanks.

  • Why do error comes when trying to use NI ISA GPIb and NI DAQ card (both PnP)together while they work well when one at a time?

we configured gpib pnp and at-mio-64e3 cards (isa) in the same pc.gpib function was invoked to take the device to remote and listen mode.now when daq function getDeviceInfo is called the remote mode of the device is removed and after this it always shows no gpib board until pc is rebooted

    Hi,
    I have some questions:
    What OS are you using?
What driver versions?. You can find the driver versions in the Windows Add/Remove programs utility. DAQ driver is NI-DAQ anmd GPIB driver is NI-488.2.
    Is there any error code?
I haven't found any known issues between these two drivers. How are the board's resources configured? Base address, IRQ, DMA.
Let see if with this information we can clear out what is going on.

  • How can I set programatically DAQ configuration?

I configured and saved my DAQ subsystem in a .daq file using NI MAX. Now I can set active configuration by MAX menu commands, Tools->NI-DAQ Configuration->Set Active Configuration, but the matter is I need to do it programmatically. My question is:
Is there any way to set DAQ configuration (i.e. to restore the DAQ configuration from the .daq file) programmatically ?
    Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, there is no way to set the active configuration programmatically in LabVIEW. There is an ActiveX control in LabVIEW that allows you to manually change the configuration of MAX from within LabVIEW.
You can use the NiMax Viewer ActiveX control to configure your hardware directly in LabVIEW. You still must configure all settings manually, but you can do so in LabVIEW instead of launching a separate application (MAX).
To use the control, place an ActiveX container on the front panel. Right-click the container, select Insert ActiveX Object from the shortcut menu, select NiMax Viewer, and click the OK button.
This container gives you access to the configuration tree of MAX but you aren't able to get to the Tools menu option.
    Refer to the LabVIEW H
elp, available by selecting Help»Contents and Index (6.0) or Help»VI, Function, & How-To Help (6.1 & 7.0), for more information about using ActiveX containers.
