Dashboard prompt in left on dashbaord

Hi My report having around 20 columns and so for dashboard prompt i need to roll the window in right . is there any way i can see my dashborad prompt in the left so that no need to roll right.
Thanks,

Instead of horizontally showing 20 dashboard prompts and scrolling down.....Why cant you check the group by option after 10 dashboard prompts,it would be at the start of the prompt. So you can see it in the next line so there wont be scrolling pain.
hope helps you.

  • Resetting Selection from a Multi-Select Dashboard Prompt in OBIEE 11g

    Hi all,
I have a dashboard prompt, containing 3 columns which all are set to allow multi selection and default value is all values.
In 10g, after choosing some values in one of the prompt and clicking Go button, I can manually remove all my selection to reset it back to the default value (which is all values).
In 11g, however, I am not able to find how to do it. The reset button doesn't reset back to the default value (which is all values). So what I have to do is to use the "Clear All Customization", which will clear all my selection for all the prompts.
Any suggestion on how to do this? Thanks in advance!

Hi Deepak, actually I don't need any script to do that in 10g.
It's a built in feature in 10g. If you remember, for multiselect prompt in 10, we will click the "..." button to show the box for value selection. Then we can move values from left box to the right to include them, or vice versa to not include them. So by moving the values from right box to the left, I essentially revert to default value which mean all values will be shown.
In 11g, this box is not shown anymore, instead we are checking the values one by one from a drop down list.
    Any suggestion? Thanks.

  • Calculations in Page /Dashboard Prompts  in OBIEE doesnt work for me .

    Hi ,
Iam trying to create a Custom Aging Report instead of using the OOB Aging report . In the report I created column ( only at this report level) "% of Outstanding Amount in AR Past Due 1- 30 Days" by changing the "Fx" and Now I can see the $$ amount that customer has due as well as how much % is that in the total Outstanding Amount. The report is coming good. Now I have a business requirement that the groupings such as 1-30 , 31-60 , 61-90 , and 90+ should be given in dashboard prompt . I could create 1-30 , 31-60 , 61-90 but 90+ ( 91-180, 181-360 , 360+) prompt is not working as I tried to concat these three groupings and iam getting the error message as " Un resolved column error , Concat Function does not support." and other thing when i tried to create a calcualted % prompt even that is giving me error message as " Unresolved colum. I think the Calculations doesnt work for Dashboard prompts ..but iam not sure ..May be Iam missing somethg , Can anybody pls help me in getting this fixed . How to create a calculation for page/Dashbaord Prompts ...I tried using the sql too but still it gives the error.
    Please help
    Thankyou

In your dashboard prompt properties you need to tick the 'Constrain' box for all the columns that you want be constrained by the other choices, e.g Year, Quarter, Month.
Only tick Product Name / Order Name if you want these to be constrained also but bear in mind it could cause a performance delay if you are having to join tables to get the constrain.
    Hope this helps,

  • Getting problem in Dashboard Prompts

    Hi All,
I have designed a dashboard prompt for the time which captured data for month, quater and year.
when i click on the month option to select some data and for example i have selected all the data from the month and click on ok and when again i open the selection option to select/deselect the some data then i find everything again (on the right side of this prompt) though all the earlier selected items are still to the left as well.
can anyone help me in resolving this issue?
    thanks in advance.

    thanks kishore..
it means oracle bi doesn't provide any solution for this...
actually its good when user have to select some data from the available options but in case when he/she has to select more than 20 items from 100 items available then he/she can be confused about what items he/she has already selected...
and when they click on the 'ok' button then all the duplilcates (which he/she has selected more than one time) will come to the display for column filters(via dashboard prompts).
    isn't it?

  • Not to show values in dashboard prompts

    hi friends,
I have a rek suuch that .....I have a dashbaord prompt named by nameid in which it has
    NameID
    sunny
    katie
    david
    scare
    but i need only
    NameID
    sunny
    scare
how to show these values in the dashboard prompts.any help plzzz

    Balaa give you right suggestion
SELECT "Table"."NameID" FROM "SubjectArea" WHERE "Table"."NameID" IN ('sunny','scare')But in your case it's too hard. May be a lot of records in a "Table", for example 1000, and only getting 2 of them is too wasteful.
What version of OBIEE do you use? 10g?

  • Dashboard prompt - Hierarchy Drop down list

    Hi gurus,
Is it possible to create a hierarchy in the dashboard prompt drop down list
For example i have 2 paramater fields :
Drop Dow List - 1 Department and
Drop Dow List - 2 Job Title
Drop Dow List - 2 is having dependency on Drop Dow List - 1, so when user choose the Department, Drop down list -2 (Job Title) value will change accordingly
Can we do this using a dashboard prompt? Pleaseee advice
    Thanks in advanced,
    Fina

    Hi,
I have a suggestion but it may not be perfect
Use presentation varaible to capture the department value and use this as an input to restrict the "Job Title" choosing "SQL Results" under Show option with a query like this SELECT Employee."Job Title" FROM "Account Lists" where Employee.Department = '@{department}'
Ensure the department prompt has a default value set in
Also the new revised options for job title only comes up after you hit "Go" (It doesnt refresh automatically)
As an alternative, you can also try out keeping them as 2 different dashbaord prompts. On hit of first Go, the next gets refreshed
    Hope this helps !!!

  • Auto filter by selection of dashboard prompt or other workaround

    Hi all,
I have 2 dashboard prompts, let's say a Product ID and Product Desc.
How can I force user to select Product ID?
How can OBIEE auto-select the Product ID after users has selected Desc? Is it possible by writing scripts?
I ask this because we have faced a case that when user only chooses Desc but left the PID empty, the performance will be very slow and abnormally consumes all the RAM on server which leads server error. Product ID is from essbase, Product desc is from oracle db.
Thanks a lot and let me know if need clarification ~

Can you explain more about how to use the 'advanced' filtering which depends on another subquery?
Since I have tried to create a filter on the main report (Report A), which is depending on another report's query result (Report B). E.g. Report A's Product ID is 'equals or in' Product ID in report B, I have also set it as "is prompted".
Besides, I set a dashboard prompt on Report B, e.g. filter on product ID and Product desc. I put Report A and B together on the same dashboard page, put the Product ID and Product Desc as a prompt on that.
So now, PID and PDesc prompts will affect Report A and Report B.
My Wish is, even users only select filter on "Product Desc" --> Report B will be filtered and show corresponding and filtered "Product ID" --> use this list of product ID to filter Report A to limit the result.
However, it fails. Report A will filter the product ID by the 'original' saved version of Report B in Answers. That means 'no filtered' on Product ID. (As Report B I saved contains the product ID column of "is prompted" only.)
If friends here understands my question, or you have faced the same case, how can I solve it? Any workaround !?
    Thank a lot !

  • Displaying Dashboard Prompt For All Pages..

    Hi All,
I Create One Dashboard Prompt And Place it on dashbaord.we have 4 Dashboard pages in that dashboard.
    My Requrement is
I want Show Prompt In All Pages Of Dashbaord Like Column in Right hand side means we navigate any page that prompt showing as column For every Dashboard Page.
whn i place prompt in dashboard it will show only one page.
    Any Help,

You need to add it manually to each page. Or else add this to one page and copy the same layout to other pages using catalog manager.
Best thing is to add manually to each page.

  • NULL and Unspecified in Dashboard prompts after upgrading 10g to 11g OBIEE

    Hi All,
We are working on OBI upgradation project from 10g to 11.1.1.6.5. We are facing one issue in Dashboard prompt level. If we can create Dashboard prompt on a column, its giving "NULL", "Unspecified" additionally. But, in 10g there are no extra values.
And the 10g, 11g instances are pointing to the same database and there are no NULL, Unspecified values in Database level.
Through some blogs and articles we found some solutions n are below.
    To remove NULL:
-->Go to the Physical Column properties in Physical Layer and Disable the Nullable option by uncheck the box.
-->Go to the Database Features in Physical Layer and disable value to NULL_SUPPORTED.
-->Go to Edit Dashboard Prompt, in Choice List Values drop-down list select SQL Results.
    To remove Unspecified:
-->Go to Edit Dashboard Prompt, in Choice List Values drop-down list select SQL Results, then write the SQL statements as columnname is not equals to "Unspecfied" ( In this way we can able to remove Null's also.)
-->Go to Content tab of LTS, in Where clause write an SQL query to restrict Unspecified values.
Note: CHeck with ETL, because if they maintains the Default value is Null when the Datatype is Character and they can maintain 9999 or #### if the datatype is Numeric. And check the Physical query and debug it carefully.
But, we have very big Repository and we have huge no.of Dashboard prompts. So, its not an easy thing to manage by using above solutions. Correct me if there are any mistakes in above.
    Any ideas on this...?
    Appreciate your help on this..!
    Thanks in Advance,
    Raghu Nagadasari

    Hi Frnds,
As of now, i found the only solution for the above mentioned issue that how to avoid NULL in dashboard prompt level:
Go to the Physical Column properties in Physical Layer and Disable the Nullable option by uncheck the box.
We have done this manually for all tables.
Appreciate if u have any other ideas.!!
    Thanks,

  • Error while creating presentation variable in Dashboard prompts.

    Hi Team
I have been going through the guidelines and procedures to create a presentation variable to use it in the dashboard prompt ( mentioned in the previous blogs ) .I followed the below link :
    http://oraclebi.blog.com/example-of-presentation-variable-in-obiee/
I am using the following query :
    ========================================================
SELECT case when 1=0 then "D2 Market"."M04 Region"
    else 1
    end
    FROM "Sample Sales"
    UNION ALL
select case when 1=0 then "D2 Market"."M04 Region"
    else 2
    end
    FROM "Sample Sales"
    =========================================================
I just wanted to create 2 dummy choices i.e 1 and 2 .But while soing so I am getting erros in the case statements :
    =========================================================
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27005] Unresolved column: "D2 Market"."M04 Region". (HY000)

Please suggest and let me know if there is any other method to have 2 chioces in drop down i.e 1 and 2 using SQL statements while creating the dashboard prompts.

    Hi Rachit
You answered my doubt. This one really works . Thanks a lot !
But i have one more doubt i.e if have created the Presentation variable in the dashboard prompt and I want to use it in a report
i.e the scenario is If I have created a new column i.e " Revised Salary " in the Presentation Services and want the values to be entered there dynamically upon end users choice. For ex the end user selecrts value of 1 then the report would display an increament of 500 to all the employees in the " Revised Salary " column and if the end user select value of 2 .. the report would display a decrement of 500 in the " Revised salary column".
I am getting the following error :
    ========================================================================
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 59001] Binary Logical operation is not permitted on VARBINARY, INTEGER operand(s). (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT "D0 Time"."T05 Per Name Year" saw_0, "D2 Market"."M04 Region" saw_1, "D4 Product"."P01 Product" saw_2, "D1 Customer"."C1 Cust Name" saw_3, "F1 Revenue"."1-01 Revenue (Sum All)" saw_4, CASE WHEN 0='1' then "F1 Revenue"."1-01 Revenue (Sum All)" +500 else "F1 Revenue"."1-01 Revenue (Sum All)" - 500 end saw_5 FROM "Sample Sales" ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3
    ========================================================================
Please NOTE : The column on which I want to do an increament is : "F1 Revenue"."1-01 Revenue (Sum All)"

  • Can we use Evaluate Function in Dashboard Prompt

    Hi
    Can anybody tell me
Can we use Evaluate Function in Dashboard Prompt.
    If yes...How
    Thanks in Adv

    Yes ! You Can!
while creating the dashboard prompt, under "Show" pick SQL results and you write the SQL statement and include the EVALUATE function.
I have several such examples. Most of of dashboard pages are parameter driven.
    1. 1st paratmeter - users specify the dates
    2. 2nd parameter - constrains the results for the period specified in 1st paramter and my SQL for 2nd paramter looks like this -
    SELECT table1.column1
    FROM table, datedim1, table1,table2
    WHERE datedim1.date BETWEEN EVALUATE( 'TO_DATE(%1,%2)','@{presentation variable1}','dd/mm/yyyy') AND EVALUATE('TO_DATE(%1,%2)', '@{presentation variable 2}','dd/mm/yyyy')

  • How to use action links or master-detail event in dashboard prompts?

    Hi,
I am new to OBIEE 11g. I have created three reports 1.Daily Data Report, 2.Weekly Data Report 3. Monthly Data Report.
I have created one dashboard prompt in which I have specified choices as Daily, Weekly and Hourly.
My requirement is that when I select the choice as 'Daily' I should get Daily Data report below Dashboard prompt.
When I select the choice as 'Weekly' I should get Weekly Data report below Dashboard prompt
and when I select the choice as 'Monthly' I should get Monthly Data report below Dashboard prompt.
How this can be achieved in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
What you do is just put this 3 different reports in 3 different dashboard sections and in section condition assign a condition based on presentation variable so that when u select weekly in the prompt only the weekly section condition should be true and other 2 section conditions should be false, in that case only the true section condition will display and false conditions will hidden.
Try implement this u will definetly can achieve the result.
Note: Create Variable prompt for this as best practice
    Revert for any queries.
    Mark if helpful/correct.
    Thanks

  • Row limit in Dashboard Prompts - OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
In dashboard prompts values are shown as sets of 256 and I know it can be customizable but my question is..."Is there any limit on records to extract as we have it in Analysis"? If yes, what is the max limit and where to configure this?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Nagireddy, thanks for your reply.
Is there any limit of values to extract in Dashboard prompt? i.e. when you use drop down list as Dashboard prompt, is there any limit of values to extract from database?
In my local environment (instanceconfig.xml), there is limit of Rows to View and Download set to 20K, however I did not see anything related to the Dashboard Prompt.
