Data aggregation
Hello,
Is it possible to aggregate data dynamically?
I have 3 combo boxes set up with filtered row functionality, and the data that is being filtered need to be aggregate.
How do I achieve this?
Thanks.
Hi Justine,
What I would do is have the formulas to aggregate the data look at the filtered data not the original data.
I have set up dashboards that have the original data on one tab. User selects a menu option which filters the data on another tab. Formulas & chart data are on anotehr tab and updates when ever new data is pulled on the filtered data tab.
Hope that helps.

Is there any documentation which throws light on how data aggregation happens in data warehouse grooming? what algorithm exactly it follows in different aggregation type (raw, hourly, daily)?
How exactly it picks up a specific data value during Hourly aggregations and Daily aggregations? As in How the value is chosen. Does it say averages out or simply picks value at the start of the hour/day or end of the hour/day ??I'll try one more time. :)
Views in the operations console are derived from data in the operational database. This is always raw data, and typically does not go back more than 7 days.
Reports get data from the data warehouse. Unless you create a custom report that uses raw data, you will never see raw data in a report - Microsoft and probably all 3rd party vendors do not develop reports that fetch raw data.
Reports use aggregated data - hourly and daily. The data is aggregated by min, max, and avg sample for that particular aggregation. If it's hourly data, then you will see the min, max, and avg for that entire hour. Same goes for daily - you will see the
min, max, and avg data sample for that entire day.
And to try clarifying even more, the values you see plotted on the report are avg samples. If you drill into the performance detail report, then you can see the min, max, and avg samples, as well as standard deviation (which is calculated based on these
three values).

DATA AGGREGATION ISSUE IN REPORT
Hi,
when we were running query by selcting the the version . the data is aggregation dono where it went rong
Explanation :
we alredy loaded data with version for the year 2010.. we started laoding from April 2010 to March 2011.. as 12 fiscal periods, with 53 versiions. here version means week(1to53 weeks for year ) but we started laoding from April means 14th week of year 2010. to March 2011. til here no probelm with data every thing is matching in the report/
now the turn comes for laoding data from April 2011..Again 14 version came which is alredy in system for April 2010
now what is happening ..
when we laod data for 14 week of 2011 (April). data is Aggregating or some mixxing up with data..
so what we had done is we had added calyear in the filter so that user can see only the data for version with respective year.
even though data is Aggregation with previous year(2010) for the same version alredy in system ..
nothing is working outt..
can u pls sugest us , any probelm in the back end , need to do any changes for modelling ..
till now what we had done is deleating the data from cube and dso for April2010 for 14 version and laoding data for April 20110 with version 14 . which is toatlay new version in system.
So this Keep on continuying every time..when data not matching.
now for the Month May with version 20 we have to laod the same probelm should not repeat .
pls help with your valuable sugestion detailly.
And this forecast summary report , we have data for next 2 years. planning is doing for every 2 years from currentt date
Any queries pls let me know

is your data stored in a cube or DSO? If it is DSO - is version and period / calmonth a key field?
what type of key figure are you using and what is the aggregation rule for this key figure - in the infoobject definition and in the query definition?
is there anything unusual in the definition of your version characteristic? any compounding?
Why did you not use 0calweek?

Data aggregation: which solution for this case ?
Hi all,
I have a fact table where measures are referred to a single year. Outlining, something like this:
year quantity
1998 30
1998 20
2000 70
2001 20
2001 20
I would to build a cube and then to analyze "tot.quantity for each year" but don't want aggregate "tot.quantity for all year".
I haven't in my source database the "Year dimension" to mapping on year field.
Do you have some suggestions on how to implement this and how to build cube using AWM tools (Year dimension and relative levels/hierarchies)?
thanks.I am not sure I fully understand what you are trying to do, but from the example below you could create a single dimension called Year with one level of Year, add a hierarchy containing only one level, create a cube dimensioned by year and then map the table you have described below to the cube. As there is only one level in the dimension, no aggregation would performed by AWM.
For the mapping you will need to create a view over your source table as follows:
CREATE VIEW FACT_VIEW AS SELECT, YEAR, SUM(QUANTITY) FROM TABLE GROUP BY YEAR
because AWM does not support an additive data loading model (surprisingly the API actually does but this is not exposed in AWM). You can only provide a single row for each dimension member. If you present multiple rows then the last row wins which in your example would result in the following data being loaded into AWM:
1998 20
2000 70
2001 20
If you create the view as shown above you should get the following data loaded:
1998 50
2000 70
2001 40
which is what I think you want?
Hope this helps

BPM performance- data aggregation persistance
Hi,
I have a situation of large volumes of records to be evaluated, aggregated and split into different scenarios.
Q1.
Best way to persist this aggregated data.
Q2.
Has anyone found, know or could suggest the best way for this to run optimal.
Regards
IanHi Ian,
I have both implemented some services on XI 2.0 using ABAP-Proxys at a XI-Application-System / Cluster-Databases and the same services on XI 3.0 with BPM. The proxy solution was much more performant but of course the BPM-Solution has a better monitoring and the advantage of beeing in standard. For a proxy solution you have to copy a XI mandant and configure it as "Application System". It will serve as a message allocator. The ABAP-Code (or Java) is executed in the Inbound proxys, where you can call Outbound proxys or implement database operations.

I want to aggregate the sum of cash transactions year to date, weekly.
I have the following code:
SELECT SUM(T2.Debit-T2.Credit), datepart(wk, T1.refdate)
FROM OACT INNER JOIN
JDT1 T1 ON T1.Account = OACT.AcctCode Join JDT1 T2 on T1.transid = T2.transid
and datePart(wk, T2.RefDate)<= DatePart(wk, T1.RefDate)
and datePart(wk, T2.RefDate)>= CAST(CAST(YEAR(T1.RefDate) as CHAR(4)) + '0101' AS DateTime)
WHERE (OACT.FatherNum = N'1000') AND (T1.RefDate > CONVERT(DATETIME, '2009-01-01 00:00:00', 102))
Group by datepart(wk, T1.refdate)
Order by datepart(wk, T1.refdate)
This is not working, I get all zero values.
Any help is appreciated.
RobThis is how I solved the problem
SELECT Distinct DatePart(wk, T1.refdate) as Week,
(Select SUM(T2.Debit-T2.Credit) from JDT1 T2
Where DatePart(wk, T2.RefDate)<= DatePart(wk, T1.RefDate)
and T2.Account < '_SYS00000000020' and Year(T2.RefDate) = 2009 ) as 'Cash Balance'
FROM JDT1 T1
Where Year(T1.RefDate) = 2009
and DatePart(wk, T1.refdate) <= datePart(wk,getdate())
Order By DatePart(wk, T1.refdate)
It isn't elegant, but it works.

Data aggregation in inbound scenario
Hi,
I have a inbound scenario where I will get bill level details from all the stores (store#, date, item1, quantity1, amount1, item2, quantity2, amount2.....) .I have to aggregate the data for each store seperately and post it into SAP.
please let me know how to handle this scenario in XI.
Example:
Input file1:
Store#1001 (bill#1)
Item1# Quantity1 amount
11 10 100
12 20 200
Input file2:
Store#1001 (bill#2)
Item1# Quantity1 amount
17 70 700
12 80 800
Input file3:
Store#2001(bill#1)
Item1# Quantity1 amount
12 30 300
13 40 400
Input file4:
Store#2001(bill#2)
Item1# Quantity1 amount
19 90 900
13 60 600
output file1:
Store#1001
Item1# Quantity1 amount

Specific limitting of OLAP data aggregations in RDB9i by BIBeans
Hi! I would like to know, how to limit aggregation (sum of values to the higher levels) of measure values to one dimension only and further to selected codes of this dimension. JDeveloper9i aggregates measure values for all dimensions without regard to the parameters used in the function "cwm_utility.create_function_usage" and in the procedure "cwm_olap_measure.set_default_aggregation_method". Thanks. Pavel

Webi report data aggregation problem
Hi Gurus,
I have a problem when running webi report upon BI query.
In infoview, report shows as below,
Material Plant Sales
A 001 100
A 002 100
B 001 120
If I drap Plant column out, it shows,
Material Sales
A 100
B 120
Material A's sales is 100, not 200 as in BI rsrt1.
What might be the problem, any clue?Hi Rongliang,
I've checked it, it is set as you said.
The problem still exists.
Another thing is , we got 3 dimensions, Material, Sales Org, Plant,
Key figure aggregates well for Sales Org and Plant, but not working for Material.
Any clue? -

Data aggregation by the 2 first characters of a characteristic
Hi,
in a query, i'd like to extract the two first characters of a characteristic and aggregate a key figure.
For example, i have the characteristic material number and the quantity.
Mat numb 0Qty
01AAAA 1
01BBBB 1
01CCCC 2
02AAAA 2
02DDDD 3
AATTTTT 3
Here is the result i want :
Mat numb 0Qty
01 4
02 5
AA 3
i can't use the selection condition because i don't know what is the value of the 2 first Characters. i don't want to modify the infocube by adding a new characteristic?
Is there any regular expression in the selection condition i can use ( for ex : for characteristic Material Number, select the first character between 0 and A and the second between 0-A and *) ?
Do i have to do it by using a user exit ?
Thanks for your help. When I did that it juts brought over the text from the table of contence. I thought maybe that was needed. So I deleted what was their before and replaced it with what popped in. I did the same for the section pages. Just to see what happened. It brought in the section numbers and it did pretty much the same. I'm fine with relabeling my pages to match. The table of contents. I still would like that first chapter page in the table of contents to actually link to the page if possible. It still not linking right.

Reading aggregated data from a cube/multiprovider
Hi BI people
My project is currently looking for a functionmodule that reads aggregated data from a cube/multiprovider.
I already have a functionmodule that reads data from a cube and returns it in a flat format. I have debugged this, but have not found any flags that can enable the OLAP functionality needed to perform the aggregation. The functionmodule is "RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ_RFC".
The situation is that I need to apply the aggregation logic of a profit center hierrarchy to the data I read from RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ_RFC, this means manually replicating the the OLAP engine functionality (keyfigure aggregation exception, ect.) and this is not an option with the available time/budget.
Please have a look at the example below:
Say that I have a profit center hierarchy as displayed below (with postable nodes).
PC1 - $10
|---- PC2 - $30
|---- PC3 - $20
The data I'm getting back from the functionmodule RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ_RFC looks like this:
PC1 $10
PC2 $30
PC3 $20
But I need the data aggregated. An aggregation utilizing the hierarchy above will make the data look like this:
PC1 $60
PC2 $30
PC3 $20
Instead of building an aggregation program, it would be usefull if it was possible to extract aggregated data.
Any comments appreciated.
Regards
MartinThx Olivier,
The problem is that I need a functionmodule that can apply the OLAP aggregation for a hierarchy to the data outpu from RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ_RFC.
... or the best alternative would be if there were a fm/class that could provide me with the hierarchy aggregation of the data.
/Martin
