Data binding via datasocket opcservers V5

Hello! Everyone
I met a problem of opcservers V5,when I try to use databinding of a indicator via datasocket to select National Instrument.OPCServers.V5, error report dialogue shows that the opc servers are not be totally installed or security settings are incorrect! I use version 2011LabVIEW and NI OPC Server can run.

Did you change your DCOM settings?

Run time data binding via FormCalc/JavaScript+wrong text formating

I need to print a text block with company details depending on company code (different details for different codes). I tried to use this code for event "calculate":

This code works and it prints correct textmodules for different company codes. But the printed text is not formated like text in the textmodules. The most important thing here is that these texts are always printed as a single long string and I need paragraphs like in the textmodules. It's a problem... If I use a statical binding (without FormCalc programming) the text modules will be printed with correct formating.
Using of checkbox "Allow Multiline Lines" hasn't helped here...
Have you any idea how should I do the run time data binding?

Hello,
the important part is "If I use a statical binding (without FormCalc programming) the text modules will be printed with correct formating." That means you can get the text in the shape you want. Just do that. Get all the texts. Next use the JS/FC scripting to hide all but one text. You get only one text to display and you use static binding to get the proper text format.

How to find and replacing the path (url) given for data binding from type 'datasocket'

I'm sorry to pose this question as my own knowledge is still very limited.
I have an assignment (bachelor level). We were asked to adjust a plc program in step7 so that multiple of an existing sequence could be run indepently.
The settings for that sequence are controlled by labview. Sensor data is also viewed in labview.
There is an existing labview VI that was made by someone else before us. It uses 'Datasocket' type for data binding. Because we would like to adjust this VI to be used with the other sequences, we would like to change the original path or URL quickly, as in a 'Find&Replace' solution. Yet the find and replace only works for objects or text, not entries in the properties.
Can someone please tell me if there is a way to do is, without having to use shared variables, as we are not at all known with this type.

Please find the attached example. I placed 5 controls on the front panel, all with a data socket URL (control 1 = URL1, control 2 = URL2 etc). Through property nodes I did the following;
- I got a reference to the front panel
- with this reference we can get an array of references to the controls on this front panel
- one by one we will read the references and check the data socket URL from the control, we compare this with the URL we are searching
- if found, stop we will use the reference to write a new URL to the control.
Please notice the default values of the controls; it is set to search for URL3 and replace this with URL10, run the VI once and you will see that happening. I also included a sting indicator which will show you the label of the control which we find. Also a Boolean indicator in case we were not able to find the URL.
I downsaved the VI to 8.6, I'm not sure in which version you are working, if you have 8.6 or higher you are able to open it. Hope this brings you further,

How can I set the data binding between Web Dynpro & Database table

Dear friend,
I am a beginner of Web Dynpro. I want to develop my simple project like these:
1. Create my own database table via Dictionary Project such as TAB_USER and have 3 fields: USER_ID, USER_NAME, USER_POSITION and I have already deployed & archived it.
2. Create my own Web Dynpro Project, and create the input fields as User ID, User name, User position and icon 'Save' on the selection screen and I have deployed it already.
For the process, I want to input data at the screen and save the data in the table, please give me the guide line like these:
1. How can I set the data binding between Web Dynpro and Database table ?
2. Are there any nescessary steps that I will concern for this case?

Xcontrols and Data Binding

Hi
Is it possible to bind specific controls in a Xcontrol to e.g. a Shared Variable programmatically? I have tried using the Bind to Network Path method, but I only manage to bind the Xcontrol it self. When I try to bind a controller inside the Xcontrol, nothing happens. I have tried applying the method in both Init.vi and under Exec State Change in Facade.vi.

Thank you for your reply. I have actually looked at this example, but unfortunately it doesn't help me as I want to bind the control inside the Xcontrol, and not the Xcontrol it self. The reason why I'm looking in to this is that I need a way to dynamically both read and write several shared variables inside a Xcontrol. With data binding of controls I could sort of do something like this.
The most obvious way to achieve this though is to use Datasocket, but I'm afraid this will affect performance as I will have a lot of variables to manage. I have read somewhere that one should only use Datasocket when dealing with less than 30 variables or so. Are there some clever way to dynamically read/write Shared Variables whit out loss of performance?

app for boss where I'm asked to add ILOG widgets via actionscript
during runtime. The data binding over gauges' value property didn't
actually work.. and here's an example of what I wrote:

Is the RFC destination created in the R/3 is pointing correctly to the XI system and vice -versa. Test the connection.
I tested my RFC Destination from R/3 system and the response was successful. What do you mean about vice-versa? How do I test it in the other way?.

Controls lose data binding when added to cluster

Please forgive me if this is a newbie question, but I can't seem to find an answer.
In a nutshell, I have an array (constant) of strings and a cluster of booleans. I want to search the name of each boolean in the cluster for a match to a string in the array and perform an action for each match. Say I want to turn on all booleans that match.
The problem is that the booleans are bound by datasocket - to OPC server to PLC. So when I add a boolean to the cluster, the data binding is dropped. Attempts to reassign data binding are unsuccessful. If I move the control outside the cluster and reassign data binding, it works. There are a fair number of booleans so I want to avoid wiring them one by one.
I am using LabVIEW 8.6 and there is a known bug similar to this for arrays of fixed size. However I don't totally understand the solution and how I would apply it to a cluster: "Uncheck autopreallocate arrays and strings in the VI properties execution category for all VIs not intended to run on an FPGA." There is no listing for clusters. Could I be doing something wrong? Should I be using shared variables instead of data binding?

You cannot use front panel DataSocket data binding with fixed-sized arrays.
Workaround: Uncheck autopreallocate arrays and strings in the VI properties execution category for all VIs not intended to run on an FPGA.

Trouble with sending huge arrays via DataSockets.

I am having trouble sending huge arrays via Data Sockets from my main vi on the server PC to the vi on the client PC.
To further elaborate, in my main vi program I have created 3 arrays called Array1, Array2 and Array3 on my front Panel. By right clicking the mouse on each set of array and from the pop-up menu I selected Data Operations-> DataSocket Connection and I entered dstp://localhost/Array1 and clicked on Publish to broadcast the data from Array1. Similarly, I did the same for Array2 and Array3.
Now, in my client vi program I have created three arrays on my front Panel to read (Subscribe) the data from the three arrays broadcasted via DataSockets from the server’s main vi program. To subsc
ribe the data I did the similar process above and clicked on Subscribe to read the data (of course the IP address of the client PC will be different then the server PC so enter the hosts IP address). Once the data is received in the client arrays, I am using LV2 globals so that I can use these arrays on other sub-vi’s locally (instead of having each sub-vi get data from the server directly).
I succeeded in doing this with two arrays, however when I added the third array the DataSockets would not work consistently. For example the refresh rate would get slower at times and sometimes 2 out of the 3 arrays would update. I don’t know if I have exceeded the limit on how much data DataSockets can broadcast, but I need to have some mechanism to broadcast 6 arrays (approx. 10000 elements for each array) of double digits precision.
Has anyone come across this issue? Is there another way of broadcasting data more efficiently then DataSockets?
I would appreciate any
help that I can get.

First run the Server main program, testServeMainVI.vi, and then the client program, testClientMainVI.vi.

DataSocket can be a lossy communication. I like the advice to flatten the data to a string, but another option would be to buffer the communcation. The problem might be that the data is being overwritten on the server faster than it is being read. Also, I have played with the new built in buffered datasocket in LabVIEW 7.0. It is pretty slick. If buffers the data both on the server and the client side.

MVC - Performance of data binding

I have a concern regarding performance of (dynamic) data binding if I have a lot of textEdit fields containing huge amount of data on a view page.
Scenario:
The view page contains buttons [Add textEdit field] and [Save all entries]. If you click the button [Add textEdit field] then a (new) textEdit will be generated and the model remembers the total number of textEdit fields that have been generated.
DATA: textedit_count TYPE i,

Obviously the whole contents of the textEdit fields in the coding above are always "moved" from the web browser to the server and vice versa when the button [Add textEdit field] is hit every time even though the content of some textEdit fields haven't changed.
Does anyone have a good solution/optimization for this problem? Any suggestion, comment and/or answer will be very appreciated.

Place this code above any textedit elements you have in your page:

How to read enumerated values from an OPC server via Datasocket

Hi Labviewers,
I am using LV8.2 and I am trying to find if it is possible to read enumerations from an OPC server via Datasocket, not just the values.
I can successfully read a value for an OPC server via Datasocket and I get a value for example 3, is it possible to get the enumeration/string that corresponds to this value i.e. "Open".

With the input type as variant I get the following response:

Report data binding error

I have created a banded report split into departments. Each
recore has a value associated with it. The report runs fine if I
dont try to sub-total each departments vale, but if I add a
calculated field to the banding, I get the following error:
Report data binding error Error evaluating expression :
textField_2 Source text : calc.Department_Total.
Variable calc.Department_Total is undefined.
The calculated field is simply the sum of the values, with an
initial value of 0 and set to reset when the group changes on the
department. I am using the same data type for the calc field as it
automatically gave for the original Value field (Big Decimal)
Any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas about this, Its getting a bit
critical now. Has anyone else been able to do sums that calculate
on group changes?? The sum total works for the report, jusyt not
the bands. I desparate here, pulling my hair out.

Dynamic Data Binding at runtime

For future applications, flexibility will be an important feature. One of the biggest drawbacks of forms is/was, on my opinion, not being able to create new items at runtime.
JClient will easily overcome this restriction. But how about data binding ?
Imagine the following situation: We've got a VO "order" with the "custname" incorporated as lookup data. At runtime, the user decides that she needs to see the "custloc" as well (put an additional JTextField into some whitespace on his panel). As I understand it is possible to build a view link to tie an instance of the VO "customer" to the "order" (I'd prefer that over adapting the query statement of "order" at runtime). But how can I create the new iterator binding and control binding needed to populate the dynamically created attributes with the data from "customer"? And, further on, how will I be able to make the changed configuration of my panel persistent, let's say into the DB ? Or does the data binding concept of 10g just not cover this requirement?
