  • Setting date format for the entire SQL Server installation - SQL Server 2008 R2-2012

    Hi,
    I need to safeguard the behaviour of SQL codes that inserting into SQL tables with some date columns. For this purpose, I need to change the date format for the SQL instance and not using CONVERT and CAST.
    I've seen the SET DATE FORMAT statement, but if I use it, could I solve my problem?
    Thanks

    The language setting is related to the database user.
    BOL: "DEFAULT_LANGUAGE = { NONE | <lcid> | <language name> | <language alias> }
    Specifies the default language for the new user. If a default language is specified for the user and the default language of the database is later changed, the users default language remains as specified.
    If no default language is specified, the default language for the user will be the default language of the database. If the default language for the user is not specified and the default language of the database is later changed, the default
    language of the user will change to the new default language for the database."
    LINK: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173463.aspx
    The default language setting can be overridden by SET LANGUAGE for the session:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174398.aspx
    Example:
    SET LANGUAGE us_english; -- mdy
    SELECT CAST ('12/13/2014' as DATE); -- 2014-12-13
    GO
    SET LANGUAGE british; -- dmy
    SELECT CAST ('12/13/2014' as DATE);
    GO
    (1 row(s) affected)
    Changed language setting to British.
    Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2

  • Do I need Management Data Warehouse for SAP on SQL?

    Hi experts,
      I am reading Jonathan Kehayias's wait statistics guide and I see he talk about Management Data Warehouse. Should I use Management Data Warehouse in SAP on SQL environment? I see many monitor objects are already implemented in DBACockpit.

    Hi Dennis,
    In case you have your SAP system on MSSQL, you can definitely use Management Data warehouse
    to streamline performance troubleshooting.

  • Convert MS SQL 2000 to Oracle 9i

    Hi,
    I am a newbie in Oracle, I need to convert my current MS SQL 2000 db to Oracle 9i. My current db has about 200 tables with no stored procedures. So I need to convert the db design and data.
    I read from this forum, some suggested to use Oracle Migration Workbench, some suggested Enterprise Manager Console with the Load Wizard.
    How can I do the migration and where can I download the migration tools if any?
    Regards,
    Jenty

    DTS is also buggy which is why SQL Server 2005 has a complete rewrite of the feature.
    Nevertheless for straight data dumps Jim is correct in that DTS should work.
    For getting the DDL you might consider using Query Analyzer to just dump all the DDL into a file and then using C or a script language to extract and convert the SQL into Oracle DDL. If you are a good script (maybe Perl) coder this would be just as quick as setting up and using the conversion tool.
    Once you have the tables defined to Oracle you can use a little pl/sql to generate the sqlldr control cards to pull in the DTS extracted data.
    Or you can use the ability of SQL Server to access Oracle by define a remote db and insert all the data accross. You will need to install an Oracle client on the SQL Server box to do this.
    You have plently of options. Look them all over and go with the one that best matches your available skill set.

  • Can I use a OID rule for a Query SQL Lov of BIP?

    Hi. Can I use OID data (rules) for a query sql lov in BIP? Ex. filters users/store.
    Thank you.
    R.

    Hi,
    I didn't look at the example, but if you want to secure your application then you should use container managed security. Read this .
    Anyway, you could add this before return "good"; in your login_action()
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().put("username", user);Then, you can access this from anywhere in the application by using #{sessionScope.username}.

  • Data extraction from SAP r/3 to sql 2000, bpc server

    Hi All,
    I have posted a similar thread previously,sap r/3 to sql 2000/2005, and understood how to transfer data from SAP R/3 to SQL 2005, but I need to transfer data from SAP R/3 to SQL 2000 server, not SQL 2005 server.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kranthi.

    If you want to extract SAP R/3 data to SQL 2000, here are some alternatives:
    1. It becomes very easy if by any chance, you are using SAP BW with SAP R/3. You can extract the data into BW using standard or custom extractors and then send it out with open hub. SQL2000 can pick the flat files from a specified location at regular intervals.
    2. You can use Business Object extractors. You can get more info at:
    http://www.france.businessobjects.com/pdf/products/dataintegration/rapid_marts_sap_infosheet.pdf
    3. If that is not an option, then you need to have a tool that allows being called via RFC. This agent will then execute the required command on behalf of your application and return the result. I do not know if there is a ready-to-use RFC-compliant agent for SQL Server. If you have a tool that does it for you, you might have to check your network connections (ping), permissions etc. and see if you can execute an rSQL from the remote machine on the SQL server.
    There is a general solution to connect to nearly any kind of modern server application from a remote site by using simple HTTP requests. Suitable HTTP server for most needs would be:
    1. Microsoft IIS
    2. Java Tomcat or IBM WebSphere
    3. SAP WebAS
    In most cases, the IIS would probably be the one as it is installed on the Windows 2000 server anyway.
    Define an Active Server Page (ASP.NET) and insert the necessary code in your favorite language to extract the data from the SQL server.
    Your ASP.NET page would pack the result in the HTTP response object to be returned. In order to call the page from SAP you call the function modules HTTP_POST (using a HTTP POST request) or HTTP_GET (for HTTP GET request) on the standard RFC destination SAPHTTPA. (Pointing to a SAP utility program saphttp that resides in the SAP binary directory of your SAP database server and can be called from the command line in order to test its functionality without RFC).

  • Data Source for MS SQL SERVER

    Need Help on how to add a data source from MS SQL Server. Please give an example using PUB as the database and the server is N12345\SQLSERVER. Thanks.

    Connecting to SQL 2000 server worked very easily. Make sure you start the SQL Server and the Sun Java Studio Creator IDE. In the Server Navigator pane, right click on the 'Data Sources' node and pick up the menu item' Add Source'. This brings up a dialogue box wherein you need to insert info regarding the hostname, password, database information etc. For a detailed screen shots of this you see my page at
    http://www.mysorian.com/htek. The last item in the scrolling page is the one you should look for.

  • Database restore from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 for SBO 2005B

    Hi Everyone,
    I am facing some problems in regards to the restore of SBO Database from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005.
    Let me explain you the problem.
    See I am using SAP B1 2005B with patch level 38 in my laptop with SQL 2000. I have made an company in this and done work in it as a production company and now I want to restore this company in the server which has SQL 2005. How to do it.

    Please let me know the solution for it.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    In SQL 2005 create a database and name as the 200 one was (though any name would do).  when you create the database note the location of the .mdb and .ldf file.
    once this had created right click on your new database > tasks > restore database
    in the new window select from device and point it to your .bak file created from your 2000 system, ensure you put a tick in the restore box on the new line.
    in the options tab tick overwrite database, and, change the file locations in the restore as directory to the file locations of the new database.  the file names must be the same too.
    you can change the original file names after the restore.
    that should do the trick.
    thanks,
    mike

  • SQL 2000 Log and data file free space

    HI ~ In SQL 2000, are there any tsql I can get the free space of the mdf and ldf file ?

    I would like to look into EACH ldf too like SQL 2005 onward using sysfiles
    in SQL 2000
    DBCC sqlperf(logspace) will just sum all the ldf size.....
    Hello,
    Below would work in SQL2000.I did not tested it on 2000 ,I dont have 2000 anymore.This will give information for data and log file free space for all databases
    exec sp_msforeachdb 'SELECT name ,size/128.0 - CAST(FILEPROPERTY(name, ''SpaceUsed'') AS int)/128.0 AS AvailableSpaceInMB
    FROM sysfiles';

  • PL/SQL Character to date convertion issue

    Dear all,
    I encounter an issue with character to date convertions in PL/SQL.
    The following is a short description:
    I use an Oracle DBMS 8i and the problem is a wrong insertion of a date value to a column table.
    The date value is retrieved from a table and is type of VARCHAR2(240). Then a convertion to the DATE type takes place and this value (date) is inserted to another table column of type DATE.
    For example if the date retrieved as VARCHAR2 is '21/05/2003' the value inserted is '21/5/0003'.
    The convertion is made by the following portion of code:
    dateVariable Date := NULL:
    dateStringVariable is retrieved from the db and is type of VARCHAR2(240)
    DATE_FORMAT is a string retireved from the db with value equals to 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'
    dateVariable := TO_DATE(dateStringVariable, DATE_FORMAT);
    Then the dateVariable is inserted to a recordSet which in turn is the one inserted to the db.
    My guess is that the problem is during the char to date convertion.
    I wonder if anyone knows what produces this error.
    Any suggestion is welcome.
    With regards

    SQL> desc t
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    DATE#                                              DATE
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'DD-MON-RR';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select * from t;
    no rows selected
    SQL> insert into t values(to_date('21/05/2003','DD/MM/YYYY'));
    1 row created.Now Oracle keeps correct date - 21th of May 2003.
    How you display it depends on your NLS_DATE_FORMAT settings:
    SQL> select * from t;
    DATE#
    21-MAY-03
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'MM/DD/YYYY';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select * from t;
    DATE#
    05/21/2003So now try to do
    SELECT to_char(<<your new date column>>,'DD/MM/YYYY') from <<your table>>
    to be sure your date is kept right.
    Rgds.

  • BIDS or SQL data Tools for SQL 2012 SP1 database

    I want to start customising reports from my Win 7 workstations. The SCCM server is SQL 2012 SP1
    Do I need to install SQL Server Data Tools onto the workstation or can you still use BIDS (Visual Studio) from SQL 2008 media
    Also I have saved some custom report .RDL files from previous assignments. Can I convert these to point to this site's database for use in SQL 2012 ?
    Ian Burnell, London (UK)

    Thanks Garth - so if I install 2008 BIDS on my W7 workstation then I will be able to connect to the CM2012/SQL 2012 database?
    Yes you will be able to do that. I do it all the time for SQL 2005 or 2008 to SQL 2012 and SQL 2014. :-)
