Data logging in STimulus Profile Editor

I am trying to log a few channels using the logging function within the Stimulus Profile Editor - Step in VeriStand 2009. I have configured the logging to be triggered on startup. However all I got were empty TDMS files with only channel descriptions but no actual data values. Any ideas?

When you select the On Startup logging trigger, a Duration field appears. The default value is zero seconds (perhaps not a great default). This effectively means the log file never logs. Try setting this value to a larger number. You can even just use Inf if you don't want a limited logging duration. In that case it will log as long as the profile runs. The other limiter is the File Size Limit field. You can also set that to Inf if you don't want to limit the log file by its size.

  • Array variable in stimulus profile editor

    Hi,
Am trying to assign a array values to Look up table in a Simulation model  from Stimulus Profile Editor 2011. What is the format to assign the array?
    -Sid

There are two main file types used in a test. The real-time sequence is deployed to the VeriStand Engine and runs in the primary control loop. A real-time sequence cannot set a parameter value.
The stimulus profile document is the host-side sequencer that deploys real-time sequences and performs other host-side operations like controlling data logging.
The stimulus profile can also run Workspace Macros, which record and playback various operations the user would perform through the Workspace window. One of the things a macro can play back is the setting of parameter values.
To set a parameter value, you can open the Macro Recorder Tool and start recording, then set your parameter value from the Model Parameter Manager. After you stop recording and save your macro, you can play it back from the Stimulus Profile using the Macro Player step under the Miscellaneous category.
You can then run different macros before running various real-time sequences to run your tests against different parameter sets.

  • How to edit template for report generator in stimulus profile editor in Veristand 2011?

How to edit template for report generator in stimulus profile editor in veristand 2011?
We are using Veristand 2011.When we run any sequence in stimulus profle editor,we get test results in form of ATML file.
We want to customise the template for this test result generation as per our requirement.
    For example:
Test case No.: Description of test case.
    Objectives: Explanation of objectives.
    Result: Passed/ Failed.
    Graph: If any.
Please suggest how to do this.

You cant really change too much in the report, you can customize TRML.xsl which is created every time in the Test Results\UUT 1 folder and that would give you some flexibility on what is shown. I dont know what a xsl is actually able to do in terms of composing data from multiple files (if at all possible) but it definitely allows you to change the visual format of the existing xml data.
Otherwise I modified the xsl to customize the look of the xml report when opened in a browser to have less clutter and some coloring on the Pass/Fail but, the reports are XML files anyway so it's easy to extract data out of them and you can probably write your own report creation tool to compose the report in whatever format you like.

  • Custmizing Legacy Stimulus Profile editor

    Hi Stephen,
I want to customize Legacy stimulus profile editor to add below features:
    - Converting test cases from excel sheet to CSV and to nivstest.
    - User interface to monitor status of each test case along with its channel values and display in graphs
    - User interface for logging test cases results back into excel sheets of test cases.
Is it possible to share a source code of Legacy stimulus profile editor or could you please share the details like how it can be customized?
Do I need to initiate seperate thread/post for this requirement?
    Regards,
    Nilesh

    Hello SG3,
    thanks for your feeback.
We developed a project for our customer with NI Veristand. The customer's user account has limited rights. So he can only run the Veristand Project and don't configure it. Furthermore the Customer can run and edit Stimulus Profils in the Stimulus Profile Editor.
The Customer need a adjustable look up table (LUT). That means e.g. he generates a wave signal. The wave signal is the input for the LUT. Now the LUT generates the output and the customer can use this output for your stimulus profile.

  • Call Stimulus Profile with Veristand API leads to failing test

I wan´t to call a stimulus profile file programmatically. I discovered that there is no VI for that in the LabVIEW VeriStand API (for the legacy stimulus profile editor such a VI exists). But in the Example finder exists a VI which uses the .NET VeriStand API to acomplish this (http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-VeriStand/Start-Stimulus-Profile-from-LabVIEW/m-p/1789162). Furthermore someone created a Custom Control for the workspace which uses this .NET invoke (http://www.ni.com/example/31335/en/). Both examples work in general but I have one problem which i´m not able to fix:
If I use a "Update Model Parameters From File" step in the stimulus profile to change the parameters of a model the step is going to fail with the error: "Error: -307650. Details: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." This only happens if i use the .NET VeriStand API invoke to call the stimulus profile. If I start the stimulus profile out of the Stimulus Profile Editor this error doesn´t occur and the Model Parameter Update works correctly.
If I delete the "Update Model Parameters From File" step the whole stimulus profile passes just fine.
Has anyone an idea how to fix this issue or how to programmatically call a stimulus profile file with the VeriStand API? Thanks for any suggestions in advance and have a nice day.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can reproduce what you are seeing. You can work around this very quickly by making a call to the StimulusProfile method CheckForErrors before starting its execution. This method is called by the Stimulus Profile Editor before it starts execution, and it must have some side-effect that causes the Update Parameters step to work correctly.

  • Stimulus profile stops logging immediately (Custom Steps)

Greeting again all! I'm using 2012 versions of everything here (VS, TS, LV, and DIAdem), and I'm also using VS Custom Steps for TS. I have a main TS sequence that does all of the configuration and setup tasks via subsequences and VS Custom steps. The only thing I'm using the Stimulus Profile for is logging at the moment, and for some reason the resulting TDMS file only holds six data points (logging at 100Hz). It looks like it starts and stops immediately, and I can't figure out why.
The only steps I have in the stimulus profile are Start Logging and Channel Group steps. There's no Stop Log step, so the logging shouldn't stop until the TS sequence undeplous the project, as far as I understand it. Triggered Logging Trigger Condition is set to none, and File Segmenting is set to Do Not Segment.
Can anyone shed any light on what's happening here?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The best option would be to control data logging directly from the TestStand sequence, but I'm not very familiar with what steps are available. Newer versions of the steps seem to have some DataLogging palette available (just based on screenshots posted online), but they might not support VeriStand 2012.
You could do this by calling a LabVIEW VI from TestStand that would set up the data logging session, and then calling another at the end of the TestStand sequence to stop it. We have example VIs that ship with Veristand to show you how to start and stop logging.

  • "You are no longer logged into your profile" - So....Palm just decides to delete my data???

I was told to post this over in this Palm forum also so hopefully SOMEONE from Palm/HP will address this... I could not find a bug report area but perhaps someone can log this.
So after months of (mostly) happily using a Pre Plus, Wednesday I get the message that I am no longer logged into my profile, and do I want to reboot or erase my data??!! I googled, and yup, it's an issue....So I reboot...same options, this reboot, it starts and asks me if I want English as my language. Woops!!! No data!
Now of course palm profile does not backup anything on my phone really....I sync direct to Exhange and use Chapura sync to a desktop Outlook PST file. So I spend the next 5 hours restoring and syncing. Just crazy.  Why can't it just say that you are not currently logged in, we will try again in an hour??  And what right does palm have to delete MY data that the profile does not even backup???  My exchange and chapura sync'ed data?  Sure, I can re-sync with both of those. But my Chapura only if I am on the same wi-fi network as the local PC.  So what does that mean if I am traveling?  And re-syncing a huge volume of contacts takes forever.  And you lose all the linked contacts also!
So I call the carrier and Palm. The carrier says...."well if your phone originally was under another phone number and you changed it as part of an upgrade, that can cause it." Huh? This can affect me months later I say??? My phone number upgrade change was done BEFORE I even turned on the phone. Palm does not even know about that first number!
So I called Palm.  The guy says it can happen if 2 people use the same e-mail or credit card in their palm profile. Now since it won't even allow you to setup the same e-mail twice, I'd like to know how THAT would happen.  No one on my plan uses the same card.
So the question is. We know this happens sometimes. Is there any source with credibility that really knows WHY this happens??? And does any setting reduce the likelihood of it happening again?  And why can't Palm make the results less debilating?  There is NO REASON that it needs to delete your data.  This is crazy.
Also, other than my few purchased apps, none of my critical data is even backed up by the Palm Profile!!! I still had to re-create all my POP3 accounts, change all my preferences back, re-sync with Exchange, re-sync with Chapura, and then re-marry all the contact duplicates that Synergy did not handle right. So what's the worth?
Can the Palm Profile/backup  be turned off? Does changing the palm profile in the apps perferences setting from "submit password every 4 hours" (whatever that means) to only at purchase help??
Do you have any other options when you get that reboot r erase prompt? Pull the battery without answering the prompt perhaps???????
If I am on the road and this happened, I would be without half my contacts until I returned which is unacceptable. This is very disappointing. I cannot believe the default action is not "let's TRY AGAIN", and not, "hey, let's erase all of this user's data on him"!!!
If this happens one or two more times, I have had it.  I will be looking at another OS and phone after having Palm phones and organizers for the last 10 years or so.  This is unacceptable.
    BJB

Thanks for the reply.  Nowhere in here do I get the sense that Palm even thinks this is a problem or are going to work on fixing it.  It implies Palm thinks it is okay and the problem is me, the user, the customer, because I do not want my data resided on Palm's servers or Google's servers.  Does Palm understand this is an issue whether my data is on my home PC or in the cloud and in Palm Profile???  The issue is not how I choose to store just one of my calendars and contact lists (out of 3).  The issue is a bug in the Palm profile system.
The first point is this.... Regardless of HOW this happens, Palm should not immediately erase all of my data!!!!  Let's say I DID sync all my data to Palm Profile.  I STILL would not want to have to re-download everything just because of some glitch with your backup servers, the carrier's network, or my phone!!!  Go look at some pre forums.  You will see many people that DO sync all of their data to their profile, and they are STILL upset with this Palm BUG.  If security is the concern, how about asking for a password first vs. just asking whether I want to reboot or erase all data?  If it is really me, I would know the password!  Your answer seems to imply that what is happening is OKAY. It is NOT okay whether I sync everything to Palm profile or not!
Further, even if all my data WAS backed up to Palm Profile, you still lose all preferences, all manually matched synergy contacts, etc.... etc... Again, I would still be very upset if all my data was erased even if EVERYTHING was backed up to Palm profile.  DON'T ERASE MY DATA!!!
I have no problem re-synching my exchange e-mail after a problem.  It works from the road, etc.  However after 10 years, Palm decided to not suport the syncing of home PC's with the Pre.  An unfortunate decision as Palm was a pioneer in this.  You talk about security....Perhaps some of us do not want our data stored on Palm servers or google servers!!! Yes, indeed, in the event of a crash I cannot restore from the road. I can live with this if the crash was from a hardware or software issue.  But it is NOT OKAY if it is caused by Palm just because of some system glitch.  Since you are not restoring my home PC data anyway, why erase it?
You talk about being logged out of your profile.  My phone was just used, and it was sitting on my desk.  Just sitting there. And then it popped up that "I was no longer logged into my profile".   What causes this?  Why does it not give me a chance to re-login?  How come after the erase of data and reboot I was then magically "logged in" and it was working?  Did the person that was trying to steal my non-existent data in my palm profile stop trying?
So are you telling me that someone was trying to use my phone SIM, on a pre plus, with my e-mail, and had my password....and trying to login, and that is why I got the message?  And then magically right after I rebooted, they stopped trying and all was okay???
I do not believe that is the case.  And again, if it is, ask for my password, or a security question, or SOMETHING to confirm that it is me.  And a simple google search will tell Palm/HP that this is a problem many of us have had.  If I have it consistently, as I said, a 10 year customer is gone.
    BJB
PS.  A reply that said:  "Palm is aware of this problem and will correct it with the next software update" would be a lot more comforting.

  • Data Profile Editor - ORA-12899: value too large for column ...

Has anyone had this error when profiling a table in Data Profile Editor, and if so were you able to reoslve it?
ORA-12899: value too large for column %s (actual: %s, maximum: %s)
    ORA-02063: preceding line from ENTERPRISE_TEST@ENTERPRISE_TEST

    Hello,
I am also working in France.
I have the same problem (with SQL*PLUS or IMP)
It's due to the fact that with UNICODE acute characters take 2 bytes and the default semantics for VARCHAR2 is byte and not char.

  • OWB 10Gr2, how far can you take the Data Profile Editor?

After working with the Data Profile Editor a bit, it seems like it has a lot of potential, but I can't quite figure out how to get it to do the thing I'm most in need of.
The problem: Tables in a source database that have CHAR columns instead of VARCHAR columns (also date fields stored as text in the format YYYYMMDD).
After generating a couple of correction maps, it seems like I should be able to do these simple transforms in the correction (it converts fields that look like numbers but stored in text with the to_number function in the resulting map), but I can't figure out where exactly to tell it to change the data type from CHAR to DATE, or where to tell it to TRIM the CHAR column before converting it to VARCHAR.
The only alternative that I can see is a mapping with dozens and dozens of expression operators to TRIM and TO_DATE the fields. This is a nasty and time consuming process.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric
    Any advice?

In chapter 14 of the OWB User Guide, it mentions that the Data Profile Editor can be used in such a way:
"Data rules can be used in two ways to cleanse data and correct schemas. The first way is to convert a source schema into a new target schema where the structure of the new tables strictly adheres to the data rules. The new tables would then have the right data types, constraints are enforced, and schemas are normalized. The second way ..."
It doesn't go into any deatil how to do any conversion of data types or data with data rules, however.

  • NTUSER.DAT in every TS profile locked by system process

I have a 32 bit 2008 Enterprise server (not R2) running terminal services that is continually generating profile errors.  Users are receiving "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile...".
This is accompanied by the following errors in System log:
1502, User Profile Service - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
1515, User Profile Service - Windows has backed up this user profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backup profile the next time this user logs on.
1511, User Profile Service - Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.
This is followed by several successful 501, Folder Redirection events to various folders in the roaming profile location and successful 4101, WinLogon - Windows License Validated
On logoff, there is a 1530, User Profile Service - Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.
DETAIL -  2 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-21-945263920-3218329962-3619911775-1162:

    Process 1316 (\Device\HarddiskVolume2\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-945263920-3218329962-3619911775-1162\Printers\DevModePerUser
Of course, the user GUID varies depending on who is doing the logging off, but the behavior is consistent.
I initially suspected corrupt profile, but recreating from scratch does not resolve the problem.
I have seen and tried numerous potential solutions, for example:
    http://cherrybyte.blogspot.com/2007/07/fixing-user-profiles-in-vista.html
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215/en-us
    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistasecurity/thread/1aaa1799-f29e-4d13-905e-6fee09b3a658
I have determined that the SYSTEM process is keeping 6 files open after logoff and never relinquishing the handle until reboot: NTUSER.DAT, NTUSER.DAT.LOG1, NTUSER.DAT.LOG2, NTUSER.DAT.{GUID}.TM.blf, NTUSER.DAT{GUID}TMContainer000...001.regtrans-ms and NTUSER.DAT{GUID}TMContainer000...002.regtrans-ms.
The handles cannot be closed even with HANDLE or Process Explorer.  I have tried setting HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ProfileList\(UserGUID)\RefCount to 0 and State to 0, but this has not helped.  UPHClean is NOT an option since this is a 2008
server.  Disabling Symantec Endpoint on the server does not resolve the problem, disabling BackupExec does not resolve the problem.  At present the only things that work are bouncing the server or manually unloading user hives on a daily basis, which
    is simply not acceptable.
I've scoured forums looking for the answer and found lots of interesting possibilities but nothing that works; does anyone here have the answer?

  • Missing OS in Profile Editor

    Hi.
I'm trying to use Profile Editor (HP Smart Zero Client) to create a profile for my t5325z ThinClients, but I can't find OS Build ID for this thinclient. This client has smart zero client, I can see in my server log's that they are trying to get config from server, but I don't have any way to create it, since Profile Editor doesn't give me the correct OS ID.
I'm using latest firmware on thinclient (T5A3309) and also latest version of Profile Editor (5.0.0.25013).

You're missing the layers tab. Click layers--> show layers page.

  • Any way to return to the calling page from the User Profile Editor page?

I built a url to the User Profile Editor page, and upon playing around with some of the parameters in the url itself, I have the Editor page returning to My Page (home page) for the logged in user. I would like to get it to return to the calling page, which is not necessarily a My Page. It might be a Community page. I'm not quite sure what the Editor Type value is and if it is even relevant. (it is hard-coded right now, and I've tried changing it to several values). Here is the url string:
http://awg1/portal/server.pt?open=space&name=UserProfileEditor&psname=OpenerPageID=253&cached=false&in_hi_userid=257&control=EditorStart&editorType=10. It would be really nice to be able to open the editor with a tag!

    You can use a table
This was answered in the Numbers forum by someone else so cant take any credit.
    Put "1" in first cell
    put 2 in cell below
Select both cells and hover mouse over botton right hand corner ( you should get a cross) click and drag down and sequential numbers will fill into the blank cells - and over the page if you wish.
Is that what you are after?
Or you can always use a numbered list but that would be by paragraph not line.

  • Creative use of CC calibraton in the DNG Profile Editor

The DNG Profile Editor can be used to create profiles that mimic film looks.
I think right now it is manual trial & error process involving changes in hue, saturation and lightness, but it could be theoretically achieved with Color Checker calibration working in reversed order.
    - Photograph the CC using your favorite film
    - If B&W, develop in your favorite developer
    - Scan the film
    - Use the scan in the DNG Profile Editor as target values
The current DNG Profile Editor obviously does not allow that, it would require adding a new tab and clone the CC calibration feature and alter it to use the photographed values as target values as opposed to internal values.
I don't know if it would be worth the effort, but I thing the idea is worth of sharing.
By the way, unless I'm doing something wrong, the saturation slides don't seem to go 0%, so creation of B&W profiles is not possible.

Good idea. Yes, I've posted an example on my Flickr.
I chose a picture with good reds and yellows. There are four images in the set:
    1. The original, untouched image. This is using the new Adobe Standard beta profile, brought into Lightroom with all default settings, including linear tone curve, no exposure or color adjustments, white balance "as shot", etc. For reference.
    2. The image with my test profile applied, but no further adjustment.
    3. My original attempt at the image, using the "old fashioned" pre-DNG-profiles raw processing method, for reference. The yellows are orangeish, which isn't that objectionable but also isn't accurate. The reds are weaker than I would like.
    4. The "final" image, with my test profile plus additional tweaks -- white balance, tone curve for contrast, crushing out the blacks a bit more, etc. Two or three minutes of total processing, versus quite a bit more for the previous attempt with no "special" profile. The reds and yellows are perfect.
    The Flickr set:
    http://flickr.com/photos/100mph/sets/72157606547890574/
This was just a first, pretty quick attempt at playing with the DNG Profile Editor. I'm sure it can be tweaked more and even more can be accomplished.
[Edit: note: I changed the "upload date" on the test images so they wouldn't stay at the top of my Flickr page. Ignore the 2007 date, it doesn't mean anything.]

  • Why has Bridge has stored 3.5 GB of data in my roaming profile?

For some reason Adobe Bridge has stored 3.5 GB of data in my roaming profile (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming) which is then copied around the network as I log into different machines.
The data seems to be mainly a cache of images that do not need to be copied around the network especially as they have no relevance to any other machines I log into.
The Adobe support guys tell me that "We do not support roaming profiles, only the standard win users" and have referred me to these forums. If this is correct then the data should be stored in the local profile folder instead (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local).
Is this a setting that I need to change (if so it's a pretty bad default) or is it a bug?
    Many thanks,
    James.

  • Bug in DNG Profile Editor

I have been trying to use the DNG Profile Editor to create an inverted tone curve to import a color negative.  I want to create an inverted linear tone curve when I convert the negative and use the downstream software to apply the appropriate camera curve.  The issue I face can be replicated by doing these steps:
Go in to DNG Profile Editor.  Tone curve tab, select "linear" for the base curve.  If you create your own custom curve and export the .dcp file and read it in with the color tables external profile, you can see the curve you expected.  It works as you expect for any curve even negative curves unless you select 'linear'.  Then, if you repeat the same process except this time you draw an inverted custom tone curve (so the image goes to/from negative to positive) and export the .dcp curve and view it, the curve includes your inverted curve, but also includes the base curve (as though the 'base curve' menu had been selected)...which it should not include.  It seems to be a very difficult if not impossible task to get an inverted linear line for the tone curve which makes it impossible to do any scientific measurements with a negative image.
I want to report this as a bug and request a fix.
    Thanks.

Rob, I looked at the both a curve xmp file and a profile recipe that contained a custom tone curve with a text editor.  The profile recipe has a lot of information and it's not easy to locate the tone curve data.  I think it's easier at the present time to input the individual points in the tone curve tab of the DNG Profile Editor.  Maybe Adobe will add this capability at some point.
