Data Maintenance view exist - but unable to modify data in SM30.

Dear all,
Had created a customized table, with "Display/Maintenance Allowed". Table maintenance is also generated. So data in the customized table can now be maintained via SM30 in the Development server.
However, when the customized table is transported into Testing server -- when attempting to modify the table in SM30,
an info message pop up stating "Client 003 has status not modifiable". With that, could not maintain the table directly.
Kindly shed so light on the matter above.
Thanks in advance.

Your table maintenace generated is flaggedas 'Standard recording routine' - check in - table maintenance -> 'Dialog data transport details'.
If you want to allow to maintain in QA or in Prod box please set the flag to 'no, or user, recording routine' .

    Hi,
I have created a table maintenance view for db table A and added my function button to this view. When I click the button I append  a few records to the table A from table B. But this recoreds are not displaied in the view.
If I rerun the view I can see added records.
How I have to refresh the view to display added records?

    Hi Jesus,
    COMMIT WORK isn't help me.
I found that I have to use TOTAL and EXTRACT structures to modify data in maintenance view.
It's fine. I do something like this in my FM
    MODULE 9CUSTOM_PF_BUTTON INPUT.
    lt_total[] = total[].
    lt_extract[] = extract[].
    CASE function.
          WHEN '9DOWNSH'.
             modify lt_total from wa_total.
             modify lt_extract from wa_extract
    ENDCASE.
    total[]   = lt_total[].
    extract[] = lt_extract[].
    ENDMODULE.                 " 9CUSTOM_PF_BUTTON  INPUT
But TOTL and EXTRACT tables contain data of  the current maintenance view.
I work with a view cluster and I have to append or delete records from one view if I do something in other view.
How I can modify data one view from another maintenance view?
If I have modified database tables directly I don't see changes in the view cluster.

  • Maintenance view of two tables

I need to update two tables Header and Item with the hepl of maintenance view. There structure is as follows :
    Header - GRPKEY (Pr. Key)
                  Printchk
Items :- GRPKEY ( Foreign key - check table Header-GRPKEY)
                fieldname ( Key)
               descr type char255
Now i am creating maintenance view using header as base table. In this case its not showing fields of items in View fields tab and i can't have those fields for data entry.
If i use items table as base table when i create data through this view header table doesn't get updated.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

    Hi,
My real question is, Will a maintenance view really enables me to enter data into two tables simultaneously?
    OR
Is it just one table that I can enter data into and the fields from other table will appear based on the join condition?
All SAP documentations talk about entering data into multiple tables using a maintenance view. But it was not practically possible for me when I tried.

You can do one of two things:
    1. When you are at the maintenance view, manually drag the right edge of the columns to make them narrower.
    2. If you can change the maintenance view, go to the function group with the same name as the maintenance view (which should be the one automatically generated, such as from SE54), and then find the screen in the function group. Open the screen, click "Layout", and the SAP GUI painter will display the screen layout. Over there, click the upper-left corner of the table, and the control TCTRL_<your_view_name> will be selected. Open the "attribute window" or press F2, and then you can set the number of Fixed Columns. Try reducing the number and re-test the effect.

I go to Maintenance Table Generator in SE11 and there is its Function Group but i do not know how to regenerate the Function Group and Function Module for make the new field appears in SM30.
Can somebody please help me , wich step must i do to regenerate the maintenance view in order the new field appears in SM30 ?
    Regards
    Frank

    Hi,
Hope you have created the table and done the TMG (Table maintenance generator). Then you changed the table.
    Now proceed like:
    goto se11 & give your table name#
    clieck on change
    goto utilities-> TMG
In the TMG, just click on the icon - pencil (or press F7).
Just select all the options and press enter
Now the TMG will be regenerated.
After this please check, it will work fine.

  • How to capture the data that the user modified in SM30(Maintenance view)

    Hello experts,
I have a new requirement wherein when the user modifies a particular record in SM30(maintenance view)
it would also update that certain records in another table. For example, I modified the address
of record 1 in table1 so I need to automatically update that same record in table2. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Again, thank you guys and have a nice day!

    Hi again,
    1. But how can I capture the data that was modified
    Yes, u are right.
We will have to use the event,
    'BEFORE SAVING'.
    2. In that,
u must fire a select query,
       from the same table,
       for the same record.
    3. In this, u will get the OLD DATA (which was already saved),
    4. Using this,u can compare,
(either thru LOOP, or field by field)
to know, which field value has been changed.

  • Unable to modify maintenance view to accommodate new field

I have a database table for which I have created a maintenance view so that the fields can be edited.
Now, I modified my database table and added one more
field to it. I similarly added this new field in my view and
activated everything. But the new field is not appearing in
the "view" contents and neither from se54/sm30.
Can anybody help me with this?
I want this new field to appear in my already existing view.

Goto SE54 and carry out the following steps:-
    1) Enter the name of the table or view.
    2) Choose Generated objects.
    3) Choose Create/Change. You go to the generated objects maintenance screen.
    4) Choose Change. A screen of reasons for changes appears.
    Select option(s) and choose Continue.
The new field will appear in the view.

  • Unable to edit maintenance view in SM30

    hi everyone.
need your help, I have one custom table, let's call it YTAB.  This table has several maintenance views created for it, depending on company code.  For YTAB, i have created a maintenance view YTABX.
When we moved YTABX to PRD, we cannot edit it in SM30.  The user ID has the right authorization.  The error message is "client 100 not modifiable".  When I try to edit the mother table YTAB in PRD, I am able to go in and do the changes.
I have already compared the settings for YTABX with the other existing views, they are the same.  My settings for the view are:
Access: Read, change, delete & insert
    Delivery Class: C
In the table maintenance generator, i have a 2-step maintenance type, recording routine is Standard recording routine and compare flag is automatically adjustable.
Attributes for table YTAB also has delivery class C, table category is transparent table, table maintenance is allowed.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello roch,
the direction in which mark points is right but i think you should get some more information on the principles of table types and sap system landscape.
Usually you should not be able to directly maintain any table. This is not only bad style but also a huge risk for the system consistency. That's why application data is always maintained via some kind of application which ensures that the data is vilidated before it is stored.
Customizing data should only be maintained within a development system and then transported through the landscape. To maintain these table you can use generated views, customer developed maintenance views, view clusters which all include automatical link to the transport system. If you would maintain these tables directly in the productiion system it would have another configuration than the development and the quality/test system which makes them more or less useless as you can no longer make any serious test if the server configurations differ.
To prohibit changes of customizing tables on production and test servers the admins lock the systems which results in the message you got. This setting is made in TCODE SCC4. Even if you have for any reason the authorization to use this transaction you should in no case change these settings without approval of basis / system owner.
    Kind Regards
    Roman

  • Maintenance view event for validation when changing data

    Hi All,
I have a maintenance view on a table that should validate some fields during user input.
I am using event 05 'Creating a new entry' to validate fields when user creates new entry in the table. That works fine.
I would like to have the same validations happening when the user changes fields of records already existing in the database. I tried to use event 01 'Before saving the data in the database' but the problem with this is that user can change many fields of many records before clicking 'Save'. I would like to have the error raised for incorrect entry already after the change.
So far I could not find an event to do this but only by changing the code itself. The problem with that is whenever the code is regenerated the custom part is lost.
Is there an event I can use that would help me achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Abhishek,
I tried event 21, I`m playing around with that since that`s the only one triggered when I press Enter.
The problem with this is that
    - the check runs when you press enter, so you can still change many fields of many records (one step maintenance) before the validation runs
    - you can`t raise an error message, because only the key fields will be input ready, the non-key fields will be readonly
The way I currently handle is I undo the changes in 21 (get previous field values from TOTAL) and raise an information message i/o an error informing user to check the entry.
What I`m looking for is an event that will raise a message and set focus on the incorrect field (if there`s one such).

  • Check Table data in Maintenance View event

Dear all, i created a maintenance view for a customer table and a must carry out a validation over the whole table when any record is created, modified or deleted.
The table has a column with percentages and after save a modification I have to verify that the values in this columns make 1 (100%).
For this, I created a routine in the event 01 (Before Saving the Data in the Database  ) of the maintenance view, but I can find the way to read all the records of the table.
I tried with the tables TOTAL and EXTRACT, but these have '#####' as values in the percentages column.
If someone need further information please let me know.
I´d be grateful if someone lead me to a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mariano.

    Hi, thx Madan Kochana .
I prefer do not modify the screen.
The column is defined as dec 3,2 and is filled with values like 0.25 or 0.10 in the view.
Thanks for your help; i'll appreciate any kind of solution.

  • IMG - View maintenance  - View suppress existing entries and do not save

    Hi there,
within the customizing maintanence I wanted to change a view cluster with an existing view (within transaction /simgh). But after replacement of the vc with the view the view do not show any existing entries and do not save my new entries.
I already regenerate the whole view again, but the behavior do not change.
I also deleted the whole maintenance dialog and generated again, but the behavior do not change.
Now when I access the view, only a number of rows are changeable but empty (number of these entries = number of existing entries) and when I save a new entry, the whole line shift to the end, of empty changeable (open) lines and when I access the screen again, this entry is not saved and not displayed.
Have anybody an idea how to solve this?
    Kind regards, Kathrin

    Hi,
There is nothing called as basic list in web dynpro
There are 2 ways of displaying more than one record (internal table data) in either ALV or Table.
Using ALV you have an advantage of directly downloading onto excel.
You need to process success and error records separately into 2 internal table, show them in 2 ALVs differently with 2 messages, so that the users can directly download them on to excel file as ALV provides it.
If the user does not want the records (success or error) ones, if the user wants only a message with number of records uploaded/not uploaded then you do not require them to display it in ALV, you can just give them a message.
In this case you can hide the ALV and only display messages in a single view or based on  radio button. 2 views or not required.
In the selection screen itself, you  can show the number of records uploaded/not uploaded.
    Hope this helps.

  • Read data from maintenance view

    hi all,
could anyone please tell me if there is any special way to read data from a maintenance view (if at all it is possible).
i wrote a simple select on it but it gave me a syntax error that the view is not defined in the dictionary. (i am able to see the view definition by double clicking and it is active too).
    the following is my select.
select single lgnum from v_t320 into (w_lgnum) where werks eq p_i_werks and lgort eq p_i_lgort.
    awaiting answers...
    regards,
    PJ

    Thanx Rich,
but the documentation on maintenance views says that we can have read access to them. Does that mean the data can only be seen via the DDIC and not from a select written in a program??
    this is what i read...
    Maintenance Status
The maintenance status of a view controls whether data records can also be changed or inserted in the tables contained in the view.
The maintenance status can be defined as follows:
Read only: Data can only be read through the view.
Read, change, delete, insert: Data of the tables contained in the view can be changed, deleted, and inserted through the view.
Only read access is permitted for database views that are defined through several tables. If a database view contains only one single table, data can be inserted in this table through the view (see Inserts Through Database Views).
The following status definitions are also possible for maintenance views:
Read and change: Existing view entries can be changed. However, records cannot be deleted or inserted.
Read and change (time-dependent views): Only entries whose non-time-dependent part of the key is the same as that of existing entries may be inserted.
you surely have earned some points here....just let me be clear of the concept behind this
    regards,
    PJ

  • How to extract data from maintenance view

The "comment field" is not mandatory. You don't need to flood the forum with your questions again.

That is the most important part. Thank you. But you seem to be unaware of the "search" functionality.
If you can imagine that you are not the first person to ask a certain question, then you can be sure that someone else already has and you can find the answers on your own. If you still have doubts, then ask a specific question providing the details.
Based on your other questions, you are on release 4.0B. Is that still correct?

  • Hi experts, how to use open sql to read data from one " maintenance view"?

i want to use this part of data within report ,so how to use open sql statement to read data from one " maintenance view"?

    Hi
You can't use OPEN SQl statements to fetch data from maintenance view
You have to use only Database views
see the different types of views and the difference
The followings are different types of views:
    - Database View (SE11)
Database views are implement an inner join, that is, only records of the primary table (selected via the join operation) for which the corresponding records of the secondary tables also exist are fetched. Inconsistencies between primary and secondary table could, therefore, lead to a reduced selection set.
In database views, the join conditions can be formulated using equality relationships between any base fields. In the other types of view, they must be taken from existing foreign keys. That is, tables can only be collected in a maintenance or help view if they are linked to one another via foreign keys.
    - Help View ( SE54)
Help views are used to output additional information when the online help system is called.
When the F4 button is pressed for a screen field, a check is first made on whether a matchcode is defined for this field. If this is not the case, the help view is displayed in which the check table of the field is the primary table. Thus, for each table no more than one help view can be created, that is, a table can only be primary table in at most one help view.
    - Projection View
Projection views are used to suppress or mask certain fields in a table (projection), thus minimizing the number of interfaces. This means that only the data that is actually required is exchanged when the database is accessed.
A projection view can draw upon only one table. Selection conditions cannot be specified for projection views.
    - Maintenance View ( SE54 )
Maintenance views enable a business-oriented approach to looking at data, while at the same time, making it possible to maintain the data involved. Data from several tables can be summarized in a maintenance view and maintained collectively via this view. That is, the data is entered via the view and then distributed to the underlying tables by the system.
