Data Migration in Product Master

Hello Experts,
I've the below issue,
I'm changing the Set types to Org dependent in Product Master,
During this process I'll be deleting the current set type and 'll create a new set type.
Here, How do I transport/replace the existing records in the DB with the new changes?
Suggest me the best approach to do this?
Kindly do the needful ASAP.
Your help will be appreciated.

RollOut: Data migration phase - material master

Dear all,
we are going to implement the SAP in one of our subsidiaries. The phase data migration of the material master is not that clear because I am not very experienced in such a project.
Can anybody consult me concerning my intentions?
I would like to subdivide the prozess data migration in the following separate steps:
1. Analysis of the structure and the material master fields of the legacy system
First I would require an example structure of the legacy system to get a first overview. This structure should be an excel sheet. Then I would discuss this structure with the staff of our subsidiary.
2. Structure of our SAP system
The structure of the SAP and all the necessary fields of the material master will be discussed with the staff of the subsidiary.
3. Comparing of both structures
Compare both structures and define which fields are missing and which fields have to be added
4. Preparation of the migration tool (LSMW)
I would be very grateful to get a reply or critic are recommendations.

I think you basically got what needs to be done.
I usually let the module teams deliver the SAP fields that are necessary for their process.
For the source data I contact the team that deals with the legacy system.
Then we map fields and find the source fields that have to target, as well as mandatory target fields that have no source data.
And I request this usually per material type, as each material type may have different requirements.
Start with the process as early as possible, best with project begin already.
I am currently doing a huge migration project (merging of several SAP systems) , started last December, and I still miss a lot of mappings.
I made the exerience that I get mapping for the well kown entries of a field, however, there are many records that have different values, maybe values that should not be used anymore in the legacy system, but old records never go adjusted, hence I have them as error when loading.

How to follow data migration for Euipment Master

Hi Friend
We need to use data migration systm to transfer data for equipment master from legacy system to SAP. We require to generate 3000 equipment master in SAP. Can you tell me what should I follow , BDC or LSMW? I am a functional consultant and have no knowldge in ABAP. I even cant get any support in ABAP.
Pls also tell me the steps to execute the migration.

I would personally go for a BDC but LSMW should also be possible
If you don't know how to do a BDC just drop me a mail and I send you the details.
Hopefully this one is than solved by the EOD.

How to fetch data for CRM Product Master

Hi,
I'm trying to write a report on the product master in CRM.
In our current setup, we have few Ztables attached to the Product Master tabs.
The key field linking the Ztables is
field name:FRG_GUID
component type COMT_FRG_GUID
description:SET GUID
I would like to know if there is any function module which reads the product master table based on Product_ID just like 'for example 'CRM_ORDER_READ'.( which gives all the GUID's based on Business Transaction Numbers)
I need this because I'm not able to match the Fragment_guid of many DB tables to each other.
Please help.

Data migration in Production

how can i upload HR data (my client not implementing HR module) client asking that we can not say debit and credit line items it means one month may have 1000 debits and 50 credits ,how can i record in lsmw.

Hi,
You should test and tune your EIM process several times with a copy of prod in your test environment. If you have not tuned your EIM job you could run into easily avoidable issues.
My team and I recently tuned a 100M row EIM load to fit into a very compressed window. If you are not an expert in tuning EIM you could run into a lot of issues and delays.
Be sure to have a RMAN backup before you start loading production just in case there is an issue and you need to recover.

Sorry if i`m repeating what someone else said before as its a long thread.
The preferable option that we implemented is a small custom Z transactio where users maintain these attributes. Selection screen same as the ususal /sapsll/product_02, and then get the PRGEN entry and maintain on second screen.
Using the API FM used for ECC system sync... well maybe its a bit unnecessary & overcomplicated. Once you get the Product Object, you can use the maintain object/ maintain subobject methods that is standard and works without simulating inbound api call..

UPDATE : Mind you, that if you do changes to the attributes in GTS, they will stay for as long as there is no new update for the material in ECC...
Once a change pointer or manual transfer triggers a re-transfer, manuall changes will most likely be flushed and set back to what comes from ECC api.. just bear this in mind pls & test this case...

I have done that but the problem is i am getting the information message "No process code can be found for the message type LOIPRO"
This is because I guess the basic type LOIPRO01 is an outbound idoc.
So please let me know whether it is possible with idoc method as this idoc is Outbound.
If possible, please let me know how it has to be done in detail.

Error message while doing data migration

Hi all
When im doing data migration for material master through Z transaction ,it is updating global DIR documents for material while doing this ,im getting the error and the transaction is stopped intermediately the error message is CHANGE MASTER STATUS DOES NOT ALLOW CHANGES no error message number.
Kindly sujjest where is that error is coming,it would be very helpful

It seems you are using engineering change management and your change number's status is not proper (CC01, CC02, CC03; table AENR).
Configuration of the status is in T419S (use SM30 + T419S) - but I guess the problem is about your change number not about config...
How your Z-program is working, we don't know; contact the responsible functional/technical consultants.

Hi,
I would like to know if any SAP standard tools which are available for all master data migration,Kindly share the same which is required for us now.
We have to migrate the data from legacy systems to SAP and we have to use only SAP Standard master data migration tools.

SAP migrates data from legacy system using standard tools like LSMW, BDC, BAPI. Under LSMW you will have Batch input, Batch recording, BAPI and IDOCs options. Depending upon requirement you can choose any one of them. BAPI is advisable instead of BDC method.
Also for utilities industry SAP has provided ISU Migration tool (EMIGALL).

I am working in a sap hr master data migration project.The client is having sap hr system in one location ,they want to migrate the datas of other 3 locations into sap hr system.(2 diffrent countries ).I have prepared a business blue print for 3 locations,now client want a Functional Design Document for 3 locations .
Can any one help me to prepare a design document.Is there any standard format ?

I have to add some custom fields in the product master data on SRM and I also need to have this data to be synchronized with the same in ERP.
After having added this fields, can you pelase suggest a way to syncrhonized them with the ERP? is there a BADI I can leverage as in CRM?

Hi All
We are trying to allocate parallel currency to an existing co code, and since SAP recommends not to add parallel currency to an existing co code, we have decided to go ahead with a new co code - thereby transferring all master and transaction data as part of data migration..
However, my Qs is.. do we have to migrate the material master data aswell since when I make the material to plant assignment in customizing, it should then officially belong to the new co code too right?

I dont think you fully understand my scenario..
we have an entity that wants to introduce a parallel currency to all their reporting.. therefore, addiding a parallel currency to an active company code is not possible and they are not keen to go with material ledger...
therefore, we suggested a brand new co code as of 01.01.2012. So the current co code is not going to be active after 31.12.2011. We are creating a brand new co code and doing data migration for all the master data and transaction data.
meaning, Vendor, Customer, GL, AP & AR item Data, GL item data and asset master and transaction data.
In customizing, after creating the new company, we will make the assignments to plant purchasing/sales org etc.
My Qs - do we also need to migrate the material master since it belongs to a Plant. Therefore, when we assign the co code to the Plant, it will automatically be available in the co code when creating a PO etc..
