Data Modelling issue

We have a <b>cube</b> being loaded from <b>ODS</b>.  While loading the cube i am only taking <b>materials</b> which end with <b>NR</b> or <b>FR</b>. Also i have a Flag defined to identify NR and FR materials from their last two characters.
We need to develop a report with only <b>NR materials</b> with some key figures in it and for one Key figure they need the corresponding FR materials value.
Ex of report they want...
Material No      Unres Quantity   Total Quantity    Average usage
T003NR              10                          20          (They want T003FRmaterial's value)
As this report will have global filter for <b>NR</b> value, i was wondering how i can get corresponding FR material's value.
Please do advise....

Hi Bhanu,
Thank you for the immediate response.
I tried restricting at the KF level. Then we will have two rows ,one with NR material and the other  with FR material.
The reporting requirement was to get them in one row , i.e for NR material get the value of corresponding FR material.
Is there any way we can achieve this.
Appreciate your help.

  • Powerpivot 2013 doesn't work on Excel 2013 / Office 365: data model issue

    Hi guys
I recently upgraded my Office 2010 to Office 365, with Excel 2013. Before installing Office 365 I uninstalled Office 2010. I'm running Windows 8 64 bits.
I have the Powerpivot 2013 add-in, I can activate it without any issue. However when I click on "manage" on any spreadsheet (including new empty ones) I have an error "We
couldn't load the Data Model.  This may be because the Data Model in this workbook is damaged.", followed by "PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model".
I tried to repair the installation to no avail. I tried to launch excel in admin mode, nothing better.
This issue seems to be shared by some other people on this forum but
with no satisfactory answer so far.
I had a SQL server 2012 plugin installed previously which I uninstalled as well, but no change.
Would you think of something else?
    Thanks

  • Data Modeling Issues

    Hi
I am currently getting data from  3 Datasources into DSO1 and data from 2 DataSources into DSO2.I just have the following doubts.
    1)  Datasource 1,2,3 into DSO1 have different KeyFigures in each Datasource some Common Characteristics. So I map acordingly.
    For Example.
    DataSource 1
    KF1
    Mapped to KF1 of DSO1
    DataSource2
    Mapped to KF2 of DSO1
    DataSourcce2
    Mapped to KF3 of DSO1
In each of the Transformations,  I leave the rest of the keyfigures which are not present in that particular Datasource without Any Transformations(Sometimes, it takes as initial Values).
Does tthe Order of Loading data into DSO1 from 2 Diffeent DataSources. Are the Keyfigures going to be overwritten  with blank Values.
    2) When I load data from the two DSO's into an InfoCube, then the same issue might occur. How does the Order of Loading Data from 2 DSO,s into an infoCube affect the DataModeling
I know, it is quite Confusing. But Please Provide your Valuable inputs.
    Regards,
    Samir

    Hi Arun,
I have followed the same option as you have said. But some times the characteristics like Item Type are being overwritten by the Second DSO load .I am loaidng data from DSO1 and DSO2 to DSO 3.
DSO1  ITM Num      ITM TYPE      NET VALUE  Quantity
                10                   G                100
                  20                                     200
    DSO2  10                 G                     100            20
               20                 G                                       10
    DSO3  10                 G                     100            20
               20                                                           10
If u c the ITM TYPE and  NET VALUE , they r overwritten by the 2nd DSO here and the result in DSO3 is same as DSO2.
I think ,we need to write an End Routine at DSO2 level  while loading data from DSO2 to DSO3. Can any one provide some clarification on this.
    Regards,
    Samir

  • What kind of real time problems and issues arise in Data Modelling

    Hellooo experts,
I am not a BW expertise, so just want to gather some knowledge on Problems and issues related to DATA MODELLING, if any body have a document or a link can you please snd it to [email protected] or reply to this post. I promise to reward you for proper answers hope this is the way i say thanks for your help.
    kishore

    hi kishore,
The first and most important problem is to understand <b>Clients requirement</b>. Clients even some time not aware of how to utilize efficiency of BW, as they are very much use to with traditional SAP R/3 reporting. So most of time we have to suggest options to client.
If we come to technical aspect, than identifying <b>Key Figures and Characterstics</b> is the most important task. And how you map that to <b>available infoobjects</b>. Attributes also plays major roles, like which attributes is better to use as navigational one and which as exclusive attribute.
Their is long list for data modelling issues, its better you refer either <b>Mastering BIW</b> book by Mac'Donalds. And SAP Help Library is also having good material.

  • How to install Data Modeler

    Hi,
I downloaded Sqldeveloper data Modeler for Windows 32 bit including JRE. The data modeler has to run on windows 7 64 Bit as well as the sql developer runs
After unzipping this file I tried to start the datamodeler. When I starter the 32 Bit version I got the error:
Cannot be startet becaus MSVCR71.dll is not on the computer.
When I tried to start the 64 Bit version I got the error
Unable to launch the Java Virtual Machine located at path ..\..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
What must I do to install the datamodeler?
    Please help me.
    Regards
    Siegwin

    Hi Siegwin,
The download including JRE only includes a 32 bit JRE.
This jre includes a copy of file msvcr71.dll (in folder datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin). However it seems that in some circumstances the system does not find this file.
There have been several message threads about this, both for SQL Developer and for Data Modeler.
For example, from https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=10624958 it appears that copying msvcr71.dll to the Windows\System32 folder may solve the problem,
or starting Data Modeler using the datamodeler.exe file in folder datamodeler/datamodeler/bin may help. (This brings up an additional command prompt window.)
Message Re: Oracle Data Modeler Installation guide may also be relevant.
To run Data Modeler in 64 bit mode, you will need to provide your own 64 bit JRE.
If you edit the file datamodeler64.conf (in folder datamodeler\datamodeler\bin) and remove the line starting with "Set JavaHome", next time you attempt to start 64-bit Data Modeler it should ask you for the location of the java.exe file in your 64 bit JRE.
There is now a forum specifically for Data Modeler issues: SQL Developer Data Modeler

  • Issue while creating Data Model in BI Publisher and logging into xmlpserver

    Hi All,
We are facing an issue in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
If we are logging with Non Admin Id (other than weblogic) and select New Data Model, a blank screen is coming. Where as, if we use Admin Id, we are getting screen as usual for creating data model. There were some blogs mentioning to change Priviledges for  SOAP access, but that approach is also not working.
Further, we are also not able to open xmlpserver with Non Admin Id.
Any help or pointers would be great.
    Regards,

how about pasting the content of your data template here, so that forum members can see what could be the problem.

  • Issue in creating a custom data model from BP

    Hi Team
We have a requirement to create a custom data model by copying data model BP. I have successfully created new data model ZP . I have copied the UI for searching from BP. Issue is when i search a business partner  ideally it should not display any entries because i have just created the data model, But it is taking entries from BP and getting displayed. Please let me know how to map data model to search UI. I dont see option USMD_MODEL here

    Hi Imran,
actually that is not an issue but a designed feature. I'm afraid that you need to re-think your whole project. The explanations is rather simple:
Data model BP in MDG is a so called Re-Use Area data modell. This means that active data (records that are currently not stored in a change request) are saved in existing SAP ERP data base tables like BUT000 for the business partner master data and LFA1 or KNA1 for Vendor or Customer master data.
If you copy data model BP to ZP you still refer to the same active area. You will always find the same active objects - no matter which data model you are actually using for the user interface. The only difference wil occur for objects being currently processed in a change request. In that case a separation between BP and ZP is possible. But this won't help to solve your issue.
From SAP side I can only recommend not to copy BP but to find a different way of integrating your project needs into BP.
    Best regards
    Michael

  • Data Modeler 3 (EA1): Connection issue when connecting to oracle 11R2

    Hi all,
When I try to create a connection object for a oracle 11r2 database I get the following error:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-22285: non-existent directory or file for FILEEXISTS operation
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOB", line 725
    ORA-06512: at line 5
    when I test the connection.
    I have checked the oracle 11r2 instance and have 3 directory objects and all are correct;
    SYS ORACLE_OCM_CONFIG_DIR /opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.1/ccr/state
    SYS DATA_PUMP_DIR /opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.1/rdbms/log/
    SYS XMLDIR /opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.1/rdbms/xml
What can cause this problem. I have the same issue with the older version of the data modeler
    Thanks

Hey if you want me too I can create a tar/sr.
It happens even when I log in as sysdba. The three directory objects on the file system are all owned by oracle and oracle can rwx into those.
My user can see XMLDIR but does not have read/write on the directory object all other it does have read write.
    Thanks.

  • Issue importing Siebel data model into OPM

I am using OPM 10.2 and havaing a issue importing the Siebel data model in to OPM. I also have 10.2 Siebel connector installed on the desktop.
In OPM I cannot see the Siebel --> Import Data Model option in the menu.
Is there any configuration change that need to happen in OPM to do this?
    Edited by: SP1D3R MAN on 17/11/2011 18:02

    1. Make sure that you have the Siebel Connector 10.2.1 from Oracel Software delivery Cloud (formerly E-Devliery), there was a bug with the earlier 10.2 where the Policy Modeling Plugin was not working.
    2. Make sure that the files Oracle.Modeling.Siebel.Exchange.dll, Oracle.Modeling.Siebel.Plugin.dll exist the the Plugins sub-directory of Policy Modeling (default location C:\Program Files\Oracle\Policy Modeling\plugins)
    3. Make sure you are using Policy Modeling 10.2
if you need to manually copy the dll's they can be found in the siebel connector download at program files\Oracle\Policy Modeling\plugins\

  • Speed issue: renaming exposed VO in AM data model page

    Hi JDev team
I'm having some speed issues with a refactoring option in JDev 11gTP4.
If I open the AM editor, navigate to the data model page, select an exposed VO, then rename it via the View Instance edit button dialog, it takes 1min 25seconds to complete the operation, locking the IDE meanwhile. It (subjectively) feels really disruptive when you're rapidly developing to have to wait this long.
Is this an issue that's been identified and logged as a bug/issue?
    Cheers,
    CM.

    Chris,
as a regional directory you should have access to Drop 6 meanwhile (or any day soon). Can you verify the issue against that build ?

We have a tool built in excel + Powerquery version 2.18.3874.242 - 32 Bit (No PowerPivot) using data load to data model (not to workbook). There are data filters linked to excel cells, inserted in OData query before data is pulled.
The Excel tool uses organisational credentials to authenticate.

The tool runs for all users as long as they do not upgrade to PowerQuery_2.20.3945.242 (32-bit).
Once upgraded users can no longer get the data to load to the Model. Data still loads to the Workbook but the model breaks down. Resetting load to data model erases all measures.

    - The Help, About box displays a different version information set then the SQL Developer Data Modeler, About SQl Developer Data Modeler.
    - Not able to move any portion of the connection between entities. Thus there is no current way to align the lines as wanted.
    - There is no way to scroll all the way to the right side if you have more then approximately 5 entities horizontally.
    - Open SQl Developer data Modeler, Click on File, Open, select an XML file and a dialog box is displayed.
    - The checkbox needs to be moved to the right as it is partially cut off.
    - the text next to the checkbox is cutoff and only displays "Don't show this dialog agai".
    - Printing Diagrams does not print correctly unless you have the entities displayed such that you can "read" them. If you have diminished the display so that you are not able to see the table or
field names then the Print Diagrams does not display the entity or field names.
    - File, Recent Designs, does not retain the last or any design having been opened and/or saved.
    - VarChar2 is not a displayed data type for Oracle 10G.
    - There does not appear to be a way to create a set of fields which you would like to have added quickly and easily to selected tables.
    - DDL Editor displays the Macintosh HD. It should display my User Directory
    Thanks,

Sorry to dredge up an old thread.
I just downloaded data modeler and tried to start, but got an error regarding bad version:

I have JRE 1.5, but that seems to be the latest per the Software Udpate utility, and when prompted, I set my java directory to /usr, since my java bin was under /usr/bin.
Let me know if I should start a different thread.

  • Oracle Data Modeler Versión 4.1.0.866 -- issue compare model Vs BBDD ( index PK, UK)

    Hello,
I have a Data Modeler Relational and physical, the data model has three. The three tables are in a BBDD. The primary key generate is usssing index , and when I generated the DDL only show alter table add constraint .... . until here everything OK.
if I compare the bbdd with Data Modeler , I get differences in indices that generated oracle when I create the primary key.
¿Is a bug or is there some way to fix it by configuration options?
    Thanks

    Hello,
So you have a Relational Model containing 3 Tables.  I assume the Physical Model is for an Oracle database.
The primary key generate is usssing index , and when I generated the DDL only show alter table add constraint .... . until here everything OK.
I assume you are doing a DDL generation of your model (using the Generate DDL button above the diagram or using Export > DDL File from the File menu).
In the DDL Generation Options phase of the DDL generation, can you go to the Tables tab and check that the "Selected" check box for the relevant Tables is selected.
(This should normally be selected, but if you deselected it in a previous DDL generation, it will remember that setting.)
The "PK and UK Constraints" and "Indexes" tabs also allow you to control whether the constraints and Indexes are included in the generated DDL.
if I compare the bbdd with Data Modeler , I get differences in indices that generated oracle when I create the primary key.
¿Is a bug or is there some way to fix it by configuration options?
I assume here that you have input your generated DDL to your database and you are then doing a File > Import > Data Dictionary to compare your database definitions with your initial model.
It is likely that there will be some differences shown, due to defaults used by the database when the DDL is input (e.g storage properties for your indexes and tables).
I suggest you examine the differences (which will be highlighted in red on the Details, Storage Details or Physical Details tabs) for each object in the Compare Models dialog, and provided they are acceptable, select the Merge button to merge them into your model.
If you do not want some of the property differences to be merged, you should unset the "Selected" check box for that property before merging.
Note that it is possible to exclude specific properties from the comparison by selecting the Options tab in the Compare Models dialog, and then selecting the Properties Filter, Physical Properties Filter or Storage Properties Filter tab as appropriate.
    I hope this helps.

  • Data Modeler EA1:  Importing SQL Server Data Dictionary issue

I am using the Data Dictionary Import Wizard to import the Schema of a SQL Server 2005 database (JDBC connection has "SQL Server 2005" as the Type) into the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler. In step 4 of the import, under the "Import to:" section, there is only SQL Server 2000 available in the drop down.

    Database Name: Microsoft SQL Server
    Database Version 10.00.2531
I assumed that a SQL Server 2008 DB would be handled as a SQL Server 2005 DB (that is until 2008 is supported). Currently the db is not using any SQL Server 2008 specific features.
In Oracle Developer Data Model 2, the tables with xml data type would not import. This time, those tables did import.

  • Excel Workbook with Excel Data Model stored on SharePoint - daily refresh

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right forum but I'm hoping that someone here can either answer or point me in the right direction.
I have an Excel Workbook with an Excel Data Model.
The Excel Data Model uses SQL to contact our data warehouse and pull through data into tables.
We are storing the Workbook on a SharePoint site and viewing it using Excel Services.
The data in our data warehouse is updated daily and so I would like to refresh the workbook daily and remove the option to refresh the data in the browser.
Is this possible with a workbook that has an Excel Data Model (I've seen lots of posts that relate to workbooks with connections to tabular models).
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I have answered this issue in this thread that you posted in SQL Server PowerPivot for SharePoint forum, please see:
