Issue importing Siebel data model into OPM

I am using OPM 10.2 and havaing a issue importing the Siebel data model in to OPM. I also have 10.2 Siebel connector installed on the desktop.
In OPM I cannot see the Siebel --> Import Data Model option in the menu.
Is there any configuration change that need to happen in OPM to do this?

1. Make sure that you have the Siebel Connector 10.2.1 from Oracel Software delivery Cloud (formerly E-Devliery), there was a bug with the earlier 10.2 where the Policy Modeling Plugin was not working.
2. Make sure that the files Oracle.Modeling.Siebel.Exchange.dll, Oracle.Modeling.Siebel.Plugin.dll exist the the Plugins sub-directory of Policy Modeling (default location C:\Program Files\Oracle\Policy Modeling\plugins)
3. Make sure you are using Policy Modeling 10.2
if you need to manually copy the dll's they can be found in the siebel connector download at program files\Oracle\Policy Modeling\plugins\

  • Best practice on extending the SIEBEL data model

    Can anyone point me to a reference document or provide from their experience a simple best practice on extending the SIEBEL data model for business unique data? Basically I am looking for some simple rules - based on either use case characteristics (need to sort and filter by, need to update frequently, ...) or data characteristics (transient, changes frequently, ...) to tell me if I should extend the tables, leverage the 'x' tables, or do something else.
    Preferably they would be prescriptive and tell me the limits of the different options from a use perspective.
    Thanks

    Accepting the given that Siebel's vanilla data model will always work best, here are some things to keep in mind if you need to add something to meet a process that the business is unwilling to adapt:
    1) Avoid re-using existing business component fields and table columns that you don't need for their original purpose. This is a dangerous practice that is likely to haunt you at upgrade time, or (worse yet) might be linked to some mysterious out-of-the-box automation that you don't know about because it is hidden in class-specific user properties.
    2) Be aware that X tables add a join to your queries, so if you are mapping one business component field to ATTRIB_01 and adding it to your list applets, you are potentially putting an unnecessary load on your database. X tables are best used for fields that are going to be displayed in only one or two places, so the join would not normally be included in your queries.
    3) Always use a prefix (usually X_ ) to denote extension columns when you do create them.
    4) Don't forget to map EIM extensions to the extension columns you create. You do not want to have to go through a schema change and release cycle just because the business wants you to import some data to your extension column.
    5) Consider whether you need a conversion to populate the new column in existing database records, especially if you are configuring a default value in your extension column.
    6) During upgrades, take the time to re-evalute your need for the extension column, taking into account the inevitable enhancements to the vanilla data model. For example, you may find, as we did, that the new version of the S_ADDR_ORG table had an ADDR_LINE_3 column, and our X_ADDR_ADDR3 column was no longer necessary. (Of course, re-configuring all your business components to use the new vanilla column can also be quite an ordeal.)
    Good luck!

  • Importing Complex JavaBean model into WebDynpro

    Hi,
    I am trying to get Data from the EJB, in my Case, Command Bean to WebDynpro.
    So i followed this thread:
    <a href="/people/balaramnaidu.bankuru/blog/2006/04/23/importing-complex-javabean-model-into-webdynpro-by-creating-relationships-for-the-model-classes in WebDynpro</a>
    But one thing does't work here:
    I can't import the Complex type java.util.Collection.
    But i need to get Data from a DB-View into my WebDynpro.
    Is there any other chance to do that?
    Here a CodeSnippet from my Command Bean Class:
    public BusinessDelegate() throws CreateException
              try
                   Context ctx = new InitialContext();
                   OracleSessionLocalHome home = (OracleSessionLocalHome)ctx.lookup("localejbs/OracleSessionBean");
                   session = home.create();
              } catch (Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
         public void getAllOracleDetails()
              try
                   OracleDTO helper[] = session.getOracleData();
                   oracleDetailsList = new ArrayList();
                   for (int i = 0; i < helper.length; i++)
                        oracleDetailsList.add(helper(i));
              } catch (Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    OracleDTO is my HelperClass, where i made all Variable-Declarations I need in the View.
    Any ideas?
    Would appreciate that!
    Bernd

    You are not unable to import collection type means u are not able to see that variable in attribute list while importing the model?
    This may be due to you have not added getter and setter function for that collection type.

  • What kind of real time problems and issues arise in Data Modelling

    Hellooo experts,
    I am not a BW expertise, so just want to gather some knowledge on Problems and issues related to DATA MODELLING, if any body have a document or a link can you please snd it to [email protected] or reply to this post. I promise to reward you for proper answers hope this is the way i say thanks for your help.
    kishore

    hi kishore,
    The first and most important problem is to understand <b>Clients requirement</b>. Clients even some time not aware of how to utilize efficiency of BW, as they are very much use to with traditional SAP R/3 reporting. So most of time we have to suggest options to client.
    If we come to technical aspect, than identifying <b>Key Figures and Characterstics</b> is the most important task. And how you map that to <b>available infoobjects</b>. Attributes also plays major roles, like which attributes is better to use as navigational one and which as exclusive attribute.
    Their is long list for data modelling issues, its better you refer either <b>Mastering BIW</b> book by Mac'Donalds. And SAP Help Library is also having good material.

  • Geting an error trying to import a data file into OWB repository

    Hi,
    We're using OWB 11.1.0.7.0
    I'm trying to import a new data file and I'm getting an error.
    When I go to The Project/Files/ I right click on the module I want to add the files to,
    I get a 'Wizard' titled 'Welcome to the Import Metadata Wizard'.
    I click next.
    I get the 'Filter Information' screen that asks if I want to select 'All Data Files' or a specific file.
    I pick 'All Data Files' and click 'next'.
    I get the 'Object Selection' screen that has a left and right panel. The left side is titled 'Available' and the right side is titled Selected.
    The 'Available' panel had the directory in Linux (/etl/datafeeds/dev) where our data files are stored with a plus sign next to it.
    When I click the plus sign, I get an error message that says:
    API2836: Directory
    /etl/datafeeds/dev does not exist.Has anyone seen this? What is the work around? Is it a bug? How do I import a data file into OWB if this isn't the way to do it?
    Thanks,

    Hi, is there any obligation to use import wizard?
    can you use right click and import view/table?

  • How to Import data models into BPA

    How can data models be imported into BPA? We understand that models can be imported from other
    BPA repositories. We need to import from something that does not start out as a BPA model. We know how to import the data objects using the Process Generator. But do not understand how to efficiently import Cluster or entity objects (representing tables) connected to ERM Attrribute objects (representing fields). Currently only an EPC model can be imported using the process generator. We've tried importing structures using UML import of class models, but the resulting model is not usable in standard data models.
    Any ideas?

  • Issue while creating Data Model in BI Publisher and logging into xmlpserver

    Hi All,
    We are facing an issue in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
    If we are logging with Non Admin Id (other than weblogic) and select New Data Model, a blank screen is coming. Where as, if we use Admin Id, we are getting screen as usual for creating data model. There were some blogs mentioning to change Priviledges for  SOAP access, but that approach is also not working.
    Further, we are also not able to open xmlpserver with Non Admin Id.
    Any help or pointers would be great.

  • Import of ERwinR8 data models into Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler

    Hi!  My site want to move off ERwin R8 and use Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler.  When will Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler support the import of ERwin R8data model xml?
    Thanks very much,  Patty

    Hi,
    You can add the classic SCOTT schema with EMP/DEPT tables to a 10g Express Edition DB by running this script as SYSTEM:
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\RDBMS\ADMIN\scott.sql
    Also, you may wish to upgrade to the current version of SQL Developer:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
    As for importing a .dmp file, you import it to the database, not SQL Developer. Please post that question to the appropriate forum.

  • Importing A-Dat tapes into Logic

    I have lots of 8 –track Adat tapes of recording sessions that I’ve done for the last 10 years or so. The recording session were for various Jazz projects. I have rough mixes from those sessions that I’ve been able to listen to. But, I don’t have a A-Dat player. So the original A-Dat tapes have gone un-used for some time.
    The thought occurred to me that maybe I can import the a-Dat tapes into Logic and mix and master them on my own. The thing is that I’m not totally sure of the “best” way to go about it.
    At the moment, I am using a small Firebox interface. I suppose that I would need to get a larger 8track interface like maybe a Firepod? I would also need to buy a A-Dat machine. I’ve seen these on E-Bay for a couple of hundred. I would imagine that I would take each of the 8 A-Dat track to a separate input on the Firepod, create 8 new audio tracks in Logic, press record in Logic and press play on the A-Dat?
    Is that it? Or is there a proper way to do this that I don’t know about?
    Thanks,
    Morris

    Hi,
    Yes you can definitely import your ADAT tapes into Logic.
    Here's how to solve the issue:
    1.You should buy an ADAT tape machine,make SURE you get the right one,as the newer one recorded at 20bit,and the older(blackface)only did 16bit.This part is crucial.I would probably recommend you get as newer an ADAT machine as possible,and look for low head hours too.
    2.Buy an audio interface that supports the ADAT lightpipe format.Usually this can be from a cheap box to an expensive one.Just make SURE it does support the ADAT standard.
    3.Buy 2 ADAT optical lightpipe cables long enought to connect the ADAT machine to your audio interface.You WILL need both cables to ensure correct digital audio synchronization.
    4.You will need another interface,such as a Unitor8mkii or a Motu MTP/av USB model,in order to slave Logic to you ADAT machine via MMC protocol.Please refer to chapter 19 Synchronization page 605/619 of the Logic Pro reference manual to learn how to sync Logic to the ADAT.
    5.Yes,you would be able to record ALL 8 ADAT channels at once,in one "pass".
    Just make SURE you read the manual in step 4 thoroughly and test your setup BEFORE recording,to ensure you are doing it correctly.
    Cheers

  • Importing XML Data Back into the Form

    I have a form that shows several subforms based on the selections the user has made while filling in the form. This is working quite well but when I import the XML data back into the form it doesn't show the subforms that have been used.
    Is there an easy way to change this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Emma

    Actually the issue may actually have to do with the fact that the connections aren't bound, but I haven't seen the data.
    I have some fairly complex forms that include both subforms and instances, have an XSD embedded and export as XML. When I import the data, everythi
    Now, that being said...
    Are your subforms "hidden" and you opt to display them upon selection of a radio button for example, or do you SetInstances()? If you're using visible=TRUE or FALSE, that may also cause some issues.
    Try this -- on Form:ready try this code:
    if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(1);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(1);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(1);
    else { // this is fisrt time open -- i sometimes had issues with subforms being visible on first entry
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    Then on:Click essentially copy most of the code you put in form:ready
    if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(1);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(1);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(1);
    Of course this will go on top of your radio button group.
    If you are exporting to XML, it will make your life a whole lot easier, by the way, to import an XSD and bind your nodes, especially as your forms and data start to get more complex.
    Finally, you may also know this but -- unless you have Forms Server, any user that wants to export the data or import the data will need to have at least full Acrobat Professional. If you want people to be able to save data in the form but import/export isn't that important, they will need to have full Acrobat.
    I hope that helps a bit. Good luck!

  • Table or view does not exist - Data Dictionary Import Wizard(Data Modeler)

    Hi All,
    In Data Modeler, Data Dictionary Import Wizard, I'm able to connect to database.But while going to the second stage (Select Schema/Database), I'm getting an error "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist".

  • Is there a tool to convert XML data model into berkeleydb automatically?

    Hi all,
    Is there already a tool which convert a xml data model definition file into C++ source code with berkeleydb as underlying db implementation?
    If there is already one, I don't need to spend the time to code it.
    Regards,
    -Bruce

    Hello,
    One suggestion is to take a look at the Berkeley DB XML documentation at:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17276_01/html/toc.htm
    and see if you find what you are looking for.

  • How do i import excel data base into pdf form drop down field

    Hi,
    I have a table of about 2500 rows and three columns that i would like to import into a drop down window on a PDF form to be self populated when item selected rather than entering the data. How can this be done?
    Thanks!
    Richard

    Hi,
    I did not know only two entries for each option item is it. I have manually entered data in the drop down an list boxes. With 2500 lines of data I was hoping there was an easier way other than manually entering the data.
    I have no knowledge of Java Scripting.....
    I was just wondering if there was a way from an Excel spreadsheet to import that data into a PDF form to be selectable to populate PDF fields in a form. It doesn't sound like it.
    Thanks......

    Thank you for reading my post
    how i can import a data dump which is a dump of my Schema in oracle 10g into oracle database express ?
    indeed it is just 20 tables and one sequence that i exported from oracle 10g and i want to import it into my oracle express 10g

    Hi,
    I
    1) export the data from your source database XE
    C:\WINDOWS\system32>exp userid=USER1@XE1 file=user1.dmp
    2) in the target XE database you would have to recreate the same user, e.g. USER1
    3) run imp on the same dump file:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32>imp userid=USER1@xe2 file=user1.dmp full=yes ignore=yes
    II
    From DOS prompt make directory
    DOS>md c:\oraclexe\tmp
    DOS>cd c:\oraclexe\app\product\10.2.0\server\BIN
    DOS>sqlplus SYS/Password AS SYSDBA
    It is posible to be SYS/Password@SID AS SYSDBA
    SQLPlus>CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY XMLDIR AS 'C:\oraclexe\Tmp';
    SQLPlus>GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY XMLDIR TO property;
    Go back to DOS prompt. There are two files - expdp.exe and impdp.exe in BIN directory.
    DOS>expdp SYS/Password AS SYSDBA SCHEMAS=property DIRECTORY=XMLDIR DUMPFILE=property.dmp LOGFILE=property.log
    From DOS prompt make directory
    DOS>md c:\oraclexe\tmp
    DOS>cd c:\oraclexe\app\product\10.2.0\server\BIN
    DOS>sqlplus SYS/Password AS SYSDBA
    It is posible to be SYS/Password@SID AS SYSDBA
    SQLPlus>ALTER SYSTEM SET NLS_LENGTH_SIMANTICS='CHAR' SCOPE=BOTH;
    SQLPlus>CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY dmpdir AS 'C:\oraclexe\Tmp';
    SQLPlus>GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY XMLDIR TO public;
    Go back to DOS prompt. There are two files - expdp.exe and impdp.exe in BIN directory.
    DOS>impdp SYS/Password AS SYSDBA SCHEMAS=property DIRECTORY=XMLDIR DUMPFILE=property.dmp LOGFILE=property.log
    There are so many treads about export and import in XE.
