Data transfer transform with Oracle

I am using a data transfer transform within a simple data flow.
Source --> Query --> data transfer --> two queries --> two target tables.
The transfer type is set to Table. The table is being created in a oracle 9i datastore. I have the drop and re-create before loading box checked. I execute my simple job and everything runs fine. When I go to my database to look at the contents of the table created within the data transfer transform, I cannot find the table (have USER with select any table privs).
Where does the table go? Is it immediately dropped after it is used? If so, is there a way to override this? Having the table/contents hang around until the next time I run the job, is extremely helpful with debugging.

Update on this:
I created a temp table manually in the database first. Temp table created has same name as specified in data transfer transform.
I unchecked the "Drop and re-create before loading" box.
I then added a TRUNCATE Pre-load command to empty the temp table before loading
This method works fine.
The Drop and re-create before loading option, seems to work differently with data transfer transform, when compared to template tables. This is less than intuitive. Its more like "drop, re-create and drop". Also, I could not find any details about this in the tech manual. To be fair, I am using version 11.7.2.3, maybe this has been updated in a more recent release.

Asset Legacy data transfer reconciliation with GL

We have recently merged a deactivated company code with our operating company and transferred all Finance processes, open items,master data etc.
We transferred assets using Legacy Data Transfer AB91 (we did not use intercompany asset transfer ABT1N).
We then transferred the Trial Balance.
The asset balances reconcile against the GL accounts for the transferred assets when executing S_ALR_87011964 and FS10N.
However there is a difference in ABST2 which is the same difference as the migrated assets.
I would expect there to be no difference between FI and AA for legacy data transfer
I have also run ABST for all affected GL accounts and there is no difference when executing this report.
Note that the company code migration occurred in January 2008, there is no effect on 2007 year end data.

Data level Security with Oracle Apps as Source

Hi all
I am implementing Data level Security with Apps as Source(OLTP) on Single Sign On.(Oracle has provided the Vanila rpd & we are working on that)
I need to Filter data based on Business Group, Users are created in Apps and they are registered with some Responsibilities.
(for eg, OBI User CHINA is a Responsibility; Now he will get only Business Group ID for China)
I have created Groups in rpd with same name as the responsibility in Apps.
I have created Initialization Blocks from which I m getting only 1 business group ID for every :USER.(I tried the code in TOAD & I m getting the correct BG ID)
I have created Group in WEB with the same name as the Group name in rpd.
If I say show all Users and Groups in WEB, I m getting the APPS Users.
I hv Reloaded the server metadata files and restarted the BI Server/WEB Server also...
But in the Report, I m getting all the Business Group Ids,
Plz advice if I m doing something wrong.

You need to be creating your "business groups" as a group in the RPD, init blocks to retrieve the user business group at login. Filters in the Logical table sources to restrict data to relevant business groups only.
Presentation 'Web Cat' groups with the same name as the RPD groups so a user inherits membership automatically.
I'd suggest sourcing a vanilla OBIA rpd to see how it is implemented out of the box.

Data services connectivity with Oracle 8i database

Query 1:
We are using Data services XI R3 for pulling data from Oracle 8i data soure to Oracle 10g target.
Our repository is also a 10g database.
We created a datastore for 8i source and tried to import the table.
Below is the error that we get when try to import the table:
Error: Cannot import metadata.
Oracle <....> error message for operation <OCIStmtExecute> : <ORA-00904: Invalid column name>..(BODI-1112338)
While creating datastore, we entered database type as Oracle.
We were able to import the table with same 8i source , target and repository of 10g version by using Data Integrator XI R2 tool but when we try the same thing with Data services, we are getting this error.
Any other alternative other than using System DSN?
Query 2:
Also,is there any performance impact if we use ODBC System DSN name as the data source instead of Oracle while creating data store in Data services XI R3?
We have used DSN since we were not able to import table from Oracle 7 and 8i databases(source) into repository (Oracle 10g) if we give Oracle as the data source. Target database is also Oracle 10g database.

the following issue is fixed in XI 3.2, you will be able to import the tables, but Oracle 8i and 7 are not supported oracle datastore versions, you will have to select oracle 9i in the datastore

E Rec data transfer & Integration with PA

Hi Gurus,
As per my understanding E Rec & PA integration is diff concept and Data transfer from E Rec to PA & vise versa is separate.
We have E Rec on same instance as ECC. and Client needs to have all e rec object data available lifelong and transfer most of the data to PA from E Rec.
Can you please illustrate on Integration and data transfer concept.

I understand that attachements are stored in DMS and we can define the storage period for the same but what ant the object data, activity record data, etc...
Ext cand is attached to CP to BP but where are these stored ECC or whr?
- Regarding integration aspect I was told that PSA will be mapped with location in E rec, Ed fields in PA will be available in E erc is it correct? I have to take requirement for each object from client eg.-functional area list, industrry etc..so do I need to consider any PA integration data which will be available in e rec and jst need to add the list...
- When job posting is viewed by external candidate does it hit ECC for details?
- How to consider Virus scan for documents attached..

Use of global data in transformation with parallel processing

Hi,
In an upgrade I have a global variable in a routine in 3.5 in a transfer rule. The global variable keeps count of an ID.
The global variable is used in every data package,because the corrsponding infopackage is set to PSA only, where help says:
"If you select this processing option and then request processing is done serially during loading, the global data are maintained as long as the process with which the data were processed remains.
In 7.0 I also use a global variable to do the same thing, but an Infopackage is no longer available, because we use DTP´s now.
How can I store my global variable so that all parallel processing of the data packages use the same global variable? or can I set an option so that the DTP does serial processing, similar to the infopackage setting in 3.5?
As a workaround I increased the package size to a very large figure, but I would be more comfortable with a sounder solution.

Data transfer problem between Oracle 9 and Oracle 8

We have two enviroments one in oracle 9 and other is oracle 8, both are on different unix servers.
There is a DBlink for Oracle 8 on the oracle 9 database. Now when we try to select any data from oracle 9 and insert into oracle 8 using the dblink all the VARCHAR or CHAR values are going as null.
For example if we try the following sql:
INSERT INTO oracle8table@dblink (col1_varchar,col2_num)
SELECT col1_varchar,col2_num FROM oracle9table
all the col1_varchar are populated as NULL, however the col2_num is getting populated correctly.
The data type of both the columns are identical.
Any help on this highly appreciated.

How about posting the table structures just to make your post more clearer and avoid ambiguity ?
Just a matter of thought it is always better to pull the data rather than push the data. For e.g. in oracle you cannot use direct path insert while pushing the data but you can use direct path insert while pulling data.

N95 8Gb USB Data Transfer Mode not working

I have a bizarre problem with USB Data transfer.
a) I upgraded to the new 15.x firmware with the correct HKCSL package - 0557980
b) I connected PC #1 in data transfer mode with no issue and copied a bunch of installers onto the mass memory and went on to install them - to the PHONE memory.
c) Later in the day, connected PC #2 and did the same with the last few applications.
d) Next day tried to connect PC #1 and it didn't work
e) Thought I must have an application using the MASS storage but checked and not so - all apps on Phone memory.
f) Went to PC #2 and tried - Data transfer mode works - no problem.
g) Tried PC #1 again, and still not working. I get all the right messages (Mass storage cannot be used at this time etc) on the handset, and I get the "safely remove hardware" option appearing on the PC - but I don't get a drive letter assigned in the Windows Explorer.
h) I have tried it on PC #3 and this works as well - no problem.
1. The working PC's both have PC Suite 2-Beta installed, while the problem PC has no PC suite at all.
2. I have downloaded the Nokia-connectivity_cable_driver_rel_6_85_10_0 and it installs properly - giving all the expected wireless... options in Device Manager, but I still don't get a drive letter assigned with the basic data transfer mode on this problem PC #1
So the issue seems to be with a PC that has never seen any version of PC suite, but it worked straight after the firmware upgrade.
All PC's are XP SP2.
Any suggestions on anything else to try ?

SOLVED by:
- attaching N95, selecting USB Data Transfer Mode
- Going to Device Manager
- Selecting the USB Mass Storage Device for N95
- "Uninstall"
- Remove cable when N95 says its safe to
- Re-attach cable
The PC then re-discovered and reloaded the drivers including the mass storage which then worked normally.
No idea what messed it up in the first place though.

External data Transfer - Loan Module (t.code - KCLJ)

I have upload the loan source data through t.code KCLJ. and it showing me External data transfer completed with return code: 4. there is no error but no loan is created in server and also tables is not updated. is there any further step to update a loan transaction through EDT. i read SAP documentation here it's show that data saved in data pool. Please tell me what's the next step to update the loan data.

Definition
You can maintain data at a high level within a hierarchical object structure. The system will automatically transfer the data changes to the levels below that are affected.
The maintenance planner group is changed for the clarification plant described in Functional Location. The employee responsible for maintaining the master data makes the change to the master record of the highest functional location C1 and saves the changes. The system automatically makes the same change for all affected functional locations below the functional location C1, and issues a message to inform the employee of these changes.
Horizontal Data Transfer
Definition
With horizontal data transfer you can differentiate between:
Data transfer from reference location to functional location
Data transfer from functional location to installed piece of equipment
The ABC indicator of the functional location C1-B02-1 "Ventilator" is to be changed for several clarification plants.
The employee responsible for maintaining the master data makes the change in the master record of the reference functional location and saves the entries.
The system automatically makes the same change for all affected functional locations that were assigned to this reference location and for the pieces of equipment that are installed at these locations. The system then issues a message informing the employee of the changes.

we are Implementing E-recruitment. while transferinf the data from E-recruitment to Personnel administraion, I am getting the error, No data available from the partner system table T752F). We are using the same server for E-rec and PA.
While doing the data transfer activity in E-recruitment i m getting succfulll. In R/3 while going to the Tcode PA48 i m getting the error.

An integrated hiring (data transfer) scenario with SAP e-recruitment
and R/3 starts with creating a "Data Transfer for New Employees"
activity within e-recruiting for the candidate selected to be hired.
Data from e-recruitment is transferred to the target HR (via an RFC
call) and stored there in a holding table (T572F) for processing
by an appropriate action. Within the HR system, execute transaction
PA48 to access the holding table. Select the candidate you want to
process and then click the "Hire" button, and continue with the
appropriate action.
This message occurs, if you execute PA42 or PA48, in order to perform
the personnel action RA (Integration with Recruitment in Partner
Systems) and no data exists on the R/3 or external system.
