Data tuncated in file adapter scenario

Hi,
File adapter scenario - Sender systems passes a file (csv format) to PI which has one of field as 0001. This field is received at PI without the prefix 000. But, the target systems requires the data to be in the same format as the sender. How to solve this?
Thanks

Satish,
It is the behaviour of the CSV files that it trims leading zeros in the columns with numeric values, try this open the CSV file and select the column and right click it in the context menu you would find FORMAT CELLS and change the type of the column to TEXT so that whatever values you enter in that column remain as it is without truncating.
Also, the trick at following link would help
[http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/microsoft-office/how-to-import-a-csv-file-containing-a-column-with-a-leading-0-into-excel/]
Hope this resolves your issue!!

  • Appending data in receiver file adapter

    Hi EveryBody,
    I have an IDOC to File Scenario.I need to create a flat file in the receiver file adapter directory and want to append the data in the same file every time the IDOC is trigged.I have File Construction Mode as Append but still i am not able to append the data.It gives the following error : <b>Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: file already exists and must not be overwritten</b>

    Hi,
    In Order to Append the files do the following. It worked in my case.
    >change the file creation mode to create and select the check box for overwriting the file
    >After selecting the check box change the file creation mode to Append.
    You should be able to append the files now. Please award points if it works.

  • Dynamic file name (Date) in Receiver File Adapter

    Hi,
    can any one tell me how to create outbound file name with receiver file adapter in format like Name_22-08-2006.dat. I need from a current Date in the name of the message (without any other information). In message payload I don’t have that date. Is it possible to use variable from user defined function in message mapping for that name?

    Naycho,
    that's exactly what I've managed to perform using DynamicConfiguration. Check these links:

    Particularly, I've created a Java API for using setDirectory and setFileName methods through mappings. I use XSLT with java enhancement because it's a million times easier to parse and get node values with XSL than pure java.

  • How to transform data received from file adapter

    hi',
    I am reading the data from XML file using file adapter, now I want to write the same contents which I have read from this file to a different/new XML file, the issue is I am unable to perform a transform here, when I use a transform with source element as the output of the file read and target as the input to the new file it is writing an empty file,

  • CSV to CSV (FILE to FILE Adapter)Scenario

    Hi All,
             Kindly provide an immediate response..
    The error is as follows..
    Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter '.fieldFixedLengths' or '.fieldSeparator' is missing

    Hi Dhayanadh.
    First let me confirm if you are using a flat file with fixed field lengths. if that is the case, then you need to specify the length of each field in the content conversion parameters.. for example
    record.fixedFieldLengths : 10,14,12
    where in 10 is the length for the first, 14 for second and 12 for the third one.
    in the other case if, the field lengths are not fixed, then we need to mention the field separator in the conversion parameters.
    Just check if you have provided that....
    Browse these links....these could be provide you with an idea about content conversion...

  • RFC-XI-File Adapter scenario

    Hello SDN members,
    We are about to start the configuring XI 3.0 for connecting the SRM Module as a source and Portal as a destination to transfer a file. We are planning to have a function module to generate the flat file from SRM.
    We need to process the data file from SRM to a portal.
    Could some body suggest me the process flow to accomomplish this ?
    Appreciate your time.

    Hi Steve,
    If the SRM module is creating a file, and the file has to be transfered from SRM system to Portal system, then you need to look at configuring a 'File -> XI -> File' scenario.
    To work with File-XI-File scenario, refer to this blog:
    /people/venkat.donela/blog/2005/03/03/introduction-to-simple-file-xi-filescenario-and-complete-walk-through-for-starterspart2
    If you are looking at a just <b>Flat file transfer</b> and no mapping in XI, then:
    it is possible to create a scenario to transfer any sort of files : including binary files.
    <b><u>Steps:</u></b>
    In Repository:
    Create a data type (say dtBlob) with one field (data) of any type (xsd:string)
    Create a Message type (mtBlob)
    Create Two Message Interfaces (miBlob_IN & miBlob_OUT) : Aysnchronous Inbound & Outbound interfaces.
    Message mapping & interface mapping are not required.
    In Directory:
    Create a Sender Agreement with this interface (miBlob_OUT)
    Create a Receiver Agreement with miBlob_IN
    Create Receiver Determination: From SRM system to Portal.
    Create Sender channel for SRM system - File/FTP Adapter
    Create Receiver channel for SRM system - File/FTP Adapter
    <b><u>Process flow:</u></b>
    Input Flat File (from SRM) is read by File/FTP Adapter and passed as it is to Integration Engine. It can be archived after pickup.
       The flat file is not parsed into XML here.
    Since no interface mapping is specified in XI, the same data is passed onto the target message.
    The same data is passed further passed to the Target File/FTP adapter of Receiver.
    The receiver adapter creates the file in the target destination.
    Flat File transfered.
    Hope this answers your concern.

  • Adding Namespace in Sender File Adapter Scenario.

    Hi All
    I have a scenario where  XI has to Pick Up XML a file and process it. The structure of the file is as follows
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <Header>
         <Seg1>
         </Seg1>
    </Header>
    This file does not contain any any namespace tag. I guess XI would not be able to pick up this file if there is no namespace in the XML file . The file expected by XI would be something like this.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <ns0:MessageTypeName xmlns:ns0="...namespace...">
    <Header>
         <Seg1>
         </Seg1>
    </Header>
    </ns0:MessageTypeName>
    Is there a way this can be handled at the File Sender adapter side . I am aware about  adding adapter module. Is there any other way to add the missing two namespace tags at the top and bottom of the file .
    any help would be appreciated.
    regards
    Nilesh .
    Edited by: Nilesh Taunk on Apr 7, 2008 2:11 PM

    Hi Nilesh,
    Yes it is possible in File sender adapter to give the namespace. In FCC you can give inside Document Specification.
    Under Document Name, enter the name of the XML document.
    The document name is inserted in the message as the main XML tag. This is mandatory for the mapping.
    Under Document Namespace, enter the namespace of the document.
    The namespace is added to the name of the document. This is mandatory for the mapping
    I hope this will help you.

  • Data Type for File adapter

    hi all,
    we have a scenario which is idoc-xi-file
    the output data type should be something like this:
    [Data.1]
    Promo,1000,,,,,,,
    PromoD,2000,,yup
    Item,1,IGRP,,,,,,FTY,3
    Tier,1,,,,,,,ITEM,,
    Itemy,1,IGRP,,,,,,FTY,1,A_,100,,ELST
    we have to use file content conversion parameters for this as well as this needs to be converted to a CSV file format(third party system).
    any help in declaring this kind of data type(structure) and handling file content conversion parameters would be highly appreciated.
    for data type if any anybody can help me build the structure or give an example!!!
    would be gr8!!!

  • Polling issue in File Adapter scenario

    Hello Experts,
    I have a scenario where in I am using a batch command to rename a file before processing it using "run operating system command before message processing". The command works fine and renames the file, but the issue is that it does not process the renamed file in the same polling interval.
    In next polling interval the file is processed as expected.
    Can you please let me know the reason why this might be happening?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ravi,
    First the file is picked and then the pre-message processing OS command is executed and then the message is processed. Processing of the message is not dependent on whether the OS command gets executed successfully or not. Basically, PI issues the OS command and then processes the message.
    So if you have renamed the file using OS command it should be picked up in the subsequent interval.
    Hope it helps!
    Cheers,
    Anand

  • File adapter: file processing in correct sequence

    Hello All
    We have inbound file scenario.
    File will be picked up and processed by XI and sent to SAP system.
    All the files have to be processed in the same sequence.
    Once the file is picked and processed in XI, data will be sent to receiving SAP system thru proxy call.
    But, if there is an error in processing received data in the receiving system (because of duplicate data or any other application related error, which is specific to receiving application), how can we stop XI from picking and processing the next file?
    Second file should be picked and processed by XI only after 1st file is successfully processed by the receiving system.
    How can i ensure this?
    Please let me know...
    Many Thanks
    Chandra

    Hi Chandra
    If you are on NFS then you can enable Processing Sequence by Name or Date in sender file adapter. With this you need to implement EOIO this allows messages to be picked in sequence and process in queue. If one of the file failed the queue will error.
    To avoid more than one thread processing you can use additional parameter "clusterSyncMode" refer Note 801926.
    With the above other solution can be creating a SYNC  or interface that can act as an ACK from the system then you process the next message. BPM can also be useful if you use Fault messages and capture them for errors for processing of next message.
    Hope above info can be used to come to a final approach for you
    Thanks
    Gaurav

  • File adapter fails to pickup the complete file

    Hi Guys,
    I have a file to idoc scenario configured.
    Sender is an FTP server and the file type is XML
    Here are the details of my file adapter
    FTP Connection parameters,
    Connect Mode      : Permanently
    Transfer Mode     : Binary
    Processing parameters,
    QoS     : Exactly Once
    Poll Interval     : 15 secs
    Processing Mode     : Archive
    Most of the time my scenario works perfectly fine.
    And sometimes my file adapter fails to pickup the complete xml file and my scenario fails.
    The file is read partially and my mapping throws an error.
    Am i missing any parameter to be set in File adapter???
    Thanks in Advance,
    BBnu

    >>The file is read partially and my mapping throws an error.
    Thats the normal behaviour of XI,if you get a partial file,you will get a error message.
    There are several work arounds for this,first of all have a script independant of XI which is running on FTP server,this script will keep on checking for modifications in file and once the file is completely written,it will rename the file to some other extension(for e.g .dat) and XI file adapter will only pick .dat file,this will make sure that only complete files are picked up.
    Second option is to have a tag all the way in the end of XML which says EOF(of any other character),in your mesage mappin create the root node of target only if this last tag is EOF.Since in incomplete file you will not have this last tag,message processing will stop.
    Thanx
    Aamir

  • File adapter - APPEND not working

    Hi Everyone,
    I want to append a text file on the target side. I am using FCC on the receiver side and the file construction mode is "APPEND" and file type is "TEXT". When i test my scenario, the file gets created for the first time and for the next time onwards, I get an error : "Target file already exists and must not be overwritten".
    Kindly help me to solve this issue.

    Check the below thread for the same:
    Have you checked overwrite box?
    It should be checked as well, and also check for necessary authorizations for this.
