Data Validation in XML Spreadsheet 2003

Hi,
try this:
1) create new Excel worksheet
2) select A1:A10
3) set Data Validation to List, on Sheet2!A1:A10
4) save the file as XML Worksheet 2003
5) reopen the file
6) data validation does not work anymore
is this a bug?

You don't say what version of Excel you are using. However I can confirm that the feature does fail when following your method in 2010.
The file type you are using does not support "Data Consolidation References" (see help in propmt when saving file). This includes linking between sheets. You'll notice your data validation source becomes =sheet2!#REF.
If the list was on the same sheet then the validation would work.

It has an Date field where i have to do an validation like the user cannot enter date less than the current date. I can perform simple data type validation through the form builder. Can I perform the above said validation in XML form builder or is there an work around in getting this done.

I guess XML Forms builder is not able to do this. You will need to create your own predefined properties for the dates and develop a metadata extension to check that the date is the correct range.

Extracting data from xml spreadsheet for JSP

Hi,
Currently i am developing a web application where user can upload a MS excel file, then the application will extract data needed and store into database. But facing problems where those excel files may content massive images that make the file size too large to be upload on to the web. Now i try to export those excel files into xml spreadsheet, to get only text data. Need helps on how to extract data from xml spreadsheet. Which API needed?

Without getting into too much detail, a DTD defines the elements that can appear in an xml file, the order they can appear in, which elements can be nested within which other elements, what each element can contain, etc, etc. In short, a DTD defines the structure of the xml file and Microsoft defined a DTD for the xml files that are output by Excel.
This is not taken from an xml file produced by Excel but DTDs look a llittle like this very basic example.

Textfield validation with XML Data

hello
can i validation a textfield with data from a XML file?
i will read eg usernames form an XML file and will check it
with a username was typed in in a textfield,
if the username exits the textfield is invalid, since the
username was typed in, is not in the XML file.

propose involve some high security risks and privacy problems
because you send to the browser a complete list of users of your
website.
The Spry Validation Textfield supports callback validation
javascript function. This means you create your own function that
include the necessary code to validate the user input and pass to
the widget as parameter the name of your function. A good sample of
this feature could be seen in the
Password
Validation section.

Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
give it entry in
struts-config.xml
<message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
and
define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e
#Error Resources
label.search.ssNum=Plz Enter correct ssNum

Data Validation - a feature that Numbers really needs.

Right now, the newly purchased Numbers app for iPad/iPhone is little more than a crippled document viewer for me because numbers doesn't support 'data validation' (as implemented in excel).
Its not a hard concept and likely utilized in a LOT of spreadsheets on the planet. Not supporting such a critical feature is a problem, as it makes numbers, at least for me, rather pointless as an authoring tool since I cannot change or update data in my worksheet without likely corrupting the document's data integrity.
Hopefully, someone at Apple is working on fixing this.
Given that one cannot use data validation - how do I lock down a spreadsheet so I don't accidentally change cell contents?
The fact that there is no 'undo' button on the iPhone version that I do get on the iPad (same app) makes it worse.. I'm occasionally and unintentionally dragging selections of stuff around the page really hosing up the iPhone spreadsheet.
So I need to just remember what needs to be updated, update the excel spreadsheet when I can, then delete the iWork-iCloud doc, upload the replacement, then refresh the iPhone/iPad version.. very cumbersome and not at all 'cloud-like' or usefull.
Apple developers.. are you paying attention?

Yeah I know that apple likely has the same system as Microsoft in sending general support to a forum such as this. And maybe thae same stupid moron that not paying attention to the forums if their users is a food idea.

While creating the template, I have chosen the template type XSL-XML. I am trying to test this on E-business Suite (R12).
I get the error "The uploaded file TEST_temp.xsl is invalid. The file should be in XSL format."
Where am I going wrong?
I am trying to create Excel XML spreadsheets, because the excel files created using RTF templates are very huge in size. And it is taking an unacceptable amount of time to open the file. Is there any other solution to overcome this performance issue?

Looks like your XSL stylesheet is missing the XML header at the top.
So normally it would look like:

Date type in xml schema

The date type in schema processor doesn't work. I can replace the date in the xml with any character and still get the xml validated. Same problem with year and month type.

The behaviour I posted above has been identified as a bug by Oracle and a patch(#6053186) now exists for this problem. This patch is available for database version 10.2.0.3 and the bug would eventually be fixed only in database version 11g according to the details published for the bug.

Please post what version of JDeveloper you are using. Also post a small sample application that shows what you are trying to do.
I am not sure what you mean. Are you trying to display a date from the database, or have the user enter a date?
The date format is determined from the client browser locale. It will default to the US date format mm/dd/yy unless the browser locale is overridden.
If you want the user to enter a date, you should be using <dateField>. This will also expect mm/dd/yy unless you override it with a validater. Please refer to the UIX Element Reference. This documents <dateField>. The <onSubmitValidater> is a child of <dateField>, it is also documented in the Element Reference. <date> is the validater you want, it is a child of <onSubmitValidater>. You can specify a validation pattern.

Request Data Validator is not working

I am trying to invoke a plugin while submitting a request through CATALOG in OIM 11gR2. The user case i am trying to achieve is - (1) User/Admin login to OIM and go to CATALOG option (2) Select an Application instance, fill the values in the form and checkout (3) While submitting this validator should invoke which will validate the request data and throw exception if any.
For this i was thinking to utilize the plugin for oracle.iam.request.plugins.RequestDataValidator "This is used for custom validation of request data after submission"

Vivado 2013.4 ERROR: [IP_Flow 19-395] Problem validating against XML schema: Invalid value format for this type spirit:order

Hello,
I just downloaded and installed Vivado 2013.4 on my Xubuntu 12.04 machine. But when I try to add IP from the IP catalog, as in the ug937 Lab1 step2, it fails with obscure error messages (see below).
Here's basically what I did:
-In the Flow Navigator, i select the IP Catalog button.
-In the search field of the IP Catalog, I type DDS.
-then I double-click the DDS Compiler and my error occure.

We had the same problem when switching to Ubuntu 14.04, and there actually is a solution for it: make sure your locales are set to English.
$> env | grep LC_*
should only show english (or C) locales, all others are known to cause parsing errors in some numbers, usually caused by wrong string-to-float conversions (e.g. 18,29 in german is 18.29 in english). You can change the locales in the file /etc/default/localesThis is not the first time we had problems with the locale settings, Xilinx does not seem to test their software with anything else than en_US, causing obscure bugs like this one.

PO Confirmation with Delivery Date Validation Check

Dear Experts,
We have requirement in SNC to restrict PO confirmation within a agreed Delivery Date tolerance. This Delivery date validation should work similar to the Quantity validation we have in SAP standard through the PO_ITMUNDERDELIVERY/ PO_ITMOVERDELIVERY validation profiles.
So the business wants that the Suppliers can only Confirm a PO when the Delivery date in the confirmation is within agreed tolerance (-5 / +1 day ) of the requested delivery date.
Can you please let us know if there is some standard way through configurations to achieve this. I looked for validation profiles available for delivery date, but could see only for Quantity validations.
Another option we looked for was to have a Z Table to store this Delivery date tolerance (-5/+1 days), and implement the BAdi /SCMB/BOL_VALFRMWRK to achieve through custom developments.
Please let me know what solution options we can have for this requirement, as it is urgent.

I think there is no need for Z-customization and you can achieve this standard way only thing you have maintained OWN validation:
After below setting whenever Supplier try to give confirmation which is out side tolerance then system won't allow him to save the confirmation and if supplier is EDI which sends ROC_IN confirmation XML will fail in SNC (You can see that XML in SXI_MONITOR tcode in SNC).

It depends on your message definitions.
For example, if you have external .xsd definitions and you basically want to check if the input XML is valid for that schema, you can easily achieve that in java coding (within a java mapping or a module).
Other than that, if you want to really validate the field values (validation against some possible values, expected formats, etc.) you have some alternatives. If it is only in a few fields and the logic is really simple, you could do it in mapping. But the recomendation would really to code the validation in the sender system itself (or create an application specific for that).

DTD for data-management-config.xml

Is the data-management-config.xml file structure somewhere
explained? I wonder why isn't this file (as well as all the other
FDS config files) validated against a DTD or XML schema?
