Data Warehouse errors, SQL Server Agent Stopped

I just installed SCE 2010 on a 2k8 server and went through the config wizard.  Now it is showing Data Warehouse alerts, including:
Data Warehouse failed to discover object health state standard data set. Failed to enumerate (discover) Data Warehouse objects and relationships among them. The operation will be retried.
Exception 'SqlException': Management Group with id '6FDBE66E-E35D-BCB8-0FA1-5947E45FE643' is not allowed to access Data Warehouse under login 'domain\user'
One or more workflows were affected by this.
Workflow name: Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Discovery.StandardDataSet
Instance name: State data set
Instance ID: {217CFE24-F6F6-0DFF-9EA9-64C62895EE29}
Management group: SCESERVER_MG
I let the SCE install SQL 2008 Express.  When I checked on the SQL Services, SQL Server Agent Service is stopped and will not start.  Not sure if this is the cause of the above issue.  I also can't log in to the SQL Server Management Studio.
How can I fix this?  What other information do you need from me.

Danny01 - tried the domain admin rights on the service with no difference - put it back
Radhey Shah - I checked the admin account and it is the same account that I set the SQL up with.  How do I verify this account has admin rights on the SQL DB?
The error that comes up when I try to run the SQL Server Agent Service is...
"The Sql Server Agent (Essentials) service on SCESERVER
started and then stopped.  Some services stop automatically if
they are not in use by other serives or programs."
Also, when I look at the alerts within SCE, here is the current alert..
OleDb Module encountered a failure 0x80004005 during execution and will post it as output data item. Unspecified error
: Cannot open database "OperationsManagerDW" requested by the login. The login failed.

  • How to Troubleshoot why data is not moving over into the Data Warehouse after Sql Server Agent Job Run

    Hello,
    Here is my problem:
Data was imported into the staging area. After resolving some errors and running the job, I got the data to move over to the next area. From there, data should be moving over into the DW.  I have been troubleshooting for hours and cannot reslove this
issue. I have restarted the sql service services, I have ran a couple packages manually, and the job is running successfully.
What are some reasons why data is not getting into the data warehouse? Where should I be looking?
    Your help is greatly appreciated!!

    Anything is possible.
So, just to reiterate, running the job manually works, running the scheduled job does not result in errors neither data arriving to the DW, right? And it used to, correct?
If so, the 1st step would be to examine the configuration(s). But not before you inspect the package. Do you have an ability to export it to a file system and open in BIDS?

  • SQL Server Agent Stopped

Received an error in SQL Server Agent and none of the Job executed as per schedules and attaching a screen shot of the Error Message while expanding the Job Folder under SQL Server Agent. Additionally, need to find the RCA for this issue to avoid the re-occurrence.
Pls share your experience if any such issue which you have faced earlier.
As usual, after re-starting the Windows Server the issue got fixed and no RCA captured. Please let me know how to drill down and find out the RCA for this issue.

    Hi,
the exact issue what i had is as in below URL.
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/243790/sql-server-agent-exception-in-the-tsql-subsystem-agent-hangs-unresponsive
And in the another reference URL i can feel that could be the solution but not able to identify the exact Root Cause.

Additionally, attaching the Application Log event details for further Analysis in HTML format.

That being said, often SSIS jobs require a proxy to be runnable and this is how you make one up

  • Error While executing a SSIS package which contains a script task through SQL Server Agent job

    Hi,
I have a SQL Server 2012 SSIS package with a script task along with other tasks [data flow, execute sql tasks ]. When I manually executed the job through BIDS, its completed successfully.
Then I have automated the execution of the package through SQL Server Agent Job. But when I executed the package through SQL Agent job, it runs successfully for all the tasks except script task. When it comes to execute the Script Task, it is getting failed

  • Error: Failed to acquire connection while exporting a file using SSIS package through SQl Server Agent job.

    Hi Team,
I am running a sql server job which is loading data to a sharepoint document library.File is an excel format and is getting loaded
when executed through SSDT solution .But when i am using an SQL Agent job to pick up the file it doesnt get the path and agent job fails with the error "Failed to acquire connection".I have deployed the SSIS Package through SQL Server 2012 deployment
    methodologies.
I am not able to trace the error of loading data from a sharepoint library.library. Sql agent jobs works fine when i give local path. The
account which is running the sql agent job is the same who has access to document library.I also tried to run the job through proxy account. I am using a xml configuraion to store my credentials.I am able to palce the same file to a network drive in the same
server through sql server agent job. The only problem is when I am trying to load the file to a sharepoint folder.
    Thanks,
    Arsa..

Is that the WebDAV method that you are suggesting here to map the n/w drive?
Its kind of webdav but you will be using windows nw drive to store data
yes, I am able to create the file to D: , but didn't check with the C:.
Try with c:, as c: require special permisssions

  • Error trying to run SSIS Package via SQL Server Agent: DTExec: Could not set \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value] value to System.Object

    Situation:
SSIS Package designed in SQL Server 2012 - SQL Server Data Tools
    Windows 7 - 64 bit.
The package (32 bit) extracts data from a SQL Server db to an Excel Output file, via an OLE DB connection.
    It uses 3 package variables:
*) SQLCommand (String) to specify the SQL Statement to be executed by the package
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::ExcelOutputFile].Properties[Value]
    Value: f:\Output Data.xls
*) EXCELOutputFIle (String) to specify path and filename of the Excel output file
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::SQLCommand].Properties[Value]
    Value: select * from CartOrder
*) VarObjectDataSet (Object) to hold the data returned by SQL Server)
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value]
    Value: System.Object
It consists out of 2 components:
*) Execute SQL Task: executes the SQL Statement passed on via a package variable. The resultng rows are stored in the package variable VarObjectDataSet
*) Script Task: creates the physical output file and iterates VarObjectDataSet to populate the Excel file.
Outcome and issue:The package runs perfectly fine both in SQL Server Data Tools itself and in DTEXECUI.
However, whenever I run it via SQL Server Agent (with 32 bit runtime option set), it returns the errror message below.
This package contains 3 package variables but the error stating that a package variable can not be set, pops up for the VarObjectDataSet only.  This makes me wonder if it is uberhaupt possible to set the value of a package variable
    of type Object.
Can anybody help me on this please ?

    Hi Visakh,
    thank you for your reply.
So, judging by your reply, not all package variables used inside a package need to be set a value for when run in DTEXEC ?
I already tried that but my package ended up in error (something to do with "... invocation ...." and that error is anything but clearly documented. Judging by the error message itself, it looks like it could be just about anything. that is why I asked my
first question about the object type package variable.
Now, I will remove it from the 'set values' list and try another go cracking the unclear error-message " ... invocation ...". Does an error message about " ... invocation ..." ring any bells, now that we are talking about it here ?
    Thx in advance
    Jurgen
    Yes exactly
You need to set values only forthem which needs to be controlled from outside the package
Any variable which gets its value through expression set inside package or through a query inside execute sql task/script task can be ignored from DTExec
Ok I've seen the invocation error mostly inside script task. This may be because some error inside script written in script task. If it appeared after you removed the variable then it may because some reference of variable existing within script task.

    /X86  /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
I checked the filename so it must be the XML format it's complaining about.

    Thank you, pituach.
I tried running the package using just my c drive without partition, C:\Nbr_Rolls.dtsx, but still getting the same
error. I do not see any option on this site to post my package. I know it's not the path that's the issue. Our support desk already fixed that because I was getting a different message before.

  • SQL Server Agent job between 2 instances fails with Error 18456 - Login Failed for user

    Hi,
    SQL Server version: 2012 EE
    OS: Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise
In my server, i have 2 instances, and I am trying to configure a SQL Server Agent job to query one table in Instance A, and insert some modified data in Instance B, both in the same server.
When i execute the job in instance A, i get the following error:
Executed as user: NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT. Login Failed for user "NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT". [SQLSTATE 28000] (Error 18456). The step failed.
I have already configure instance A as Master and disabled encryption, by changing the parameter MsxEncryptChannelOptions to 0 in regedit. I've also made my target instance (instance B) as a Target.
    What am i missing?
Thanks for your attention and pacience

    Hello,
The NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT (virtual) account is not available on the other as you just mentioned. That is the reason for the login
failed error. Try using a Windows login as the
SQL Server Agent service account in both servers, the same Windows login (not a virtual account), and run jobs as the “sa” account.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
You can also try a proxy account.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms190698(v=SQL.105).aspx
    Hope this helps.

As Russ posted, you need to expand the toggle to see the detailed information when viewing the Job history. Please see the screenshot below:
Besides, you can also edit the Job step, and switch to the Advanced tab to specify a job output file to log the detailed package execution failure information. The screenshot is for your reference:

SQL Server agent job fails with above error, Please let me know process tohandle it.
    Thanks,
    Vishal.

The error message suggests its the issue with Teradata source database to which SSIS tries to connect within the data flow task. Make sure Teradata database is available and LOGON is enabled.

  • SQL Server Agent Jobs error for Slowly changing dimension

    Hi,
I have implemented Slowly changing dimension in 5 of my packages for lookup insert/update.
All the packages are running good in SSDT. And when i deployed the project to SSISDB and run the packages all are running successfully. But when i created a job out of that and run the packages, then 3 packages ran successfully and 2 packages failed.
When i opened All Execution Report. I found the following error:
    Message
    Message Source Name
    Subcomponent Name
Process Provider:Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description:
"Login timeout expired". An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description: "A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing
a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online.". An OLE DB record is available.
Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description: "Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [53]. ".
    Process Provider
    Slowly Changing Dimension [212]
Then i opened Provider package in SSDT and changed the source reading record limit from 4,00,000 to 15,000 in source query and deployed again and run, then the job succeeded. more than 15,000 failed.
And in the 2nd experiment, I removed slowly changing dimension task and implemented normal lookup for insert/update, and set the source reading limit again to 4,00,000 and deployed again and run, then the job succeeded.
Now i am not able to figure out, what exactly is the problem with Slowly changing dimension task for more than 15,00 records in SQL Server  Agent Job run?
Can anybody pls help me out.
    Thanks
    Bikram

    Hi Vikash,
As i have mentioned in the above post, below 2 scenarios:
"Then i opened Provider package in SSDT and changed the source reading record limit from 4,00,000 to 15,000 in source
query and deployed again and run, then the job succeeded. more than 15,000 failed.
And in the 2nd experiment, I removed slowly changing dimension task and implemented normal lookup for insert/update, and set the source reading limit again to 4,00,000 and deployed again and run, then the job succeeded."
That means i am able to connect to sql server.
But if i change the 1st scenario and read 4,00,000 records, the job fails and shows the above mentioned error.
Similarly in the 2nd scenario, if i implement SCD look up,  the job fails and shows the above mentioned error.
And i am consistently reproducing this.
    Thanks
    Bikram
