Database 11g upgrade - disable database vault option

I am upgrading from Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11g release 2 (Solaris 10) and I continue to get the following error:
Database Vault option is enableed in Oracle Home:
"/ora01/product/11.2.0/db_1". This option needs to be disabled prior to upgrade.I followed the fix from Oracle Support (11G DBUA Error: Database Vault option is enabled in Oracle Home: “” [ID 975140.1] )
I get this error:
make -f ins_rdbms.mk dv_off ioracle
-bash: make: command not found
Any idea?

Thanks11g Database Certifications will become increasingly more imortant than 10g Database Certifications.
The simple answer is 11g. However one could write a book on the reasons, and for some 10g would be a better choice. And others will say 10g. And at OCA level there is at least 80% commonality on the exam topics between 10g DBA OCA and 11g DBA OCP. If you are progressing to OCP DBA level then appropriate choice of a hands on course(s) may be a financially influencing factor.

  • Oracle Database 11g Upgrade Issue

    Hi All,
We recently upgraded from Oracle 10g to 11g, and since that we have noticed that we have an issue with a particular query.
The query selects the sum of a column based on the group by of two date columns. The query is returning rows when run in 10g based databases, but we are having to add trunc(date_column) in the 11g based databases to get the output.
Does anyone have a clue what could be happening?
    Thanks
    Anish.

The new DB Vesion is 11.2.0.2
    OS - Solaris 10
It takes the same time in sqlplus also.
The DBA also mentions that he explain plan and the costs looks very different across both the versions.

Please let us know how to Perform Upgrade ERP database 11g and ATG7 with SSO integation .
    Regards .

We have completed to upgrade ERP database from 9.2.0.6 to 11.2.0.1 and also apply ATG 7 on Test instance.
And user finish testing , there is no issue after upgrade and application can work as normal.
On Test instance we didn't implement Single Sign On
But on Production we have Single Sign ON.
Now we plan to upgrade on Production instance. But we afraid that we will found any issue on Production relate to SSO. Becase we don't have a chance to test it.
    My question is:
Are there any spacial step we need to do if we have implemented SSO After upgrade DB 11g and ATG 7?

    Greetings,
These are the steps I use to install Apex 3.2 on Oracle XE:
    1.     Install Oracle Database Express
    2.     Download the latest version of Oracle Application Express.
    3.     Extract the zip file to “C:\OracleXE”. The unzip process will create the necessary “root” folder as it is extracting.
    4.     Open a terminal session and:
    Change directory to c:\oraclexe\apex
    Type: sqlplus /nolog
    Type: connect sys as sysdba
NOTE: You will be prompted to supply the password.
Type: @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
    5.     Once you have completed the standard install, you need to perform the following steps to complete the upgrade:
    a.     Find the file called APXLDIMG.SQL and change:
    FROM:
    create directory APEX_IMAGES as ‘&1/apex/images’ ;
    TO:
    create directory APEX_IMAGES as ‘c:\oraclexe\apex\images’ ;
    b.     Follow the directions in Step 4 to open a terminal session.
    i.     Type: @apxldimg.sql
ii.     Type: @apxxepwd.sql password (where password is the password of the Application Express internal ADMIN account)
    6.     Exit from the SQL*Plus session.
    7.     Change directory to c:\oraclexe\apex\owa, open the README.TXT file and follow the instructions within to complete the installation

  • How to upgrade my database from 10.2.0.1.0.0 to 10.2.0.3 or later

    hi,
all,i want to install the apex 4.0 on my pc but when i execute the command like:
    @apexins apex apex_file temp /i/
an error account which says : Application Express Installation requires database version 10.2.0.3 or later or XE
and then it shuts down from the connection automatically.
how can i suppose to do to solve this problem,do i just need to download the database 11g and then to install again in my pc ?
looking forward to your early reply.
    best regards
    hlee

    Hi Hlee,
    You ahve two option
    01. If you have oracle support ID then you can download upgrade patchset for 10.2.0.1.00 and upgrade it to 10.2.x. But I think you dont ahve Oracle support ID and also work is more
    02. Download Oracle 11g Rel2 and then install it. Then you can install Apex 4.0.2 version on to that db.
    Cheers,

  • Upgraded the Database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 including statistics

    Hi,
Recently I have upgraded Few Servers from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 on Sun Solaris 64Bit X86.
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
    CORE    11.2.0.2.0      Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.2.0 - ProductionBefore the Upgrade We generated the stats at system level and Schema level and exported the stats into Table.
    Database Upgrade was done successfully
    Upgraded the System stats
Upgraded the Stats table and imported back to Schema's
Tested with Queries and they were OK
But some of the Queries which have DB Links started taking Hanging and seen wait events
    WAIT #18446741324892168800: nam='asynch descriptor resize' ela= 3 outstanding #aio=0 current aio limit=4294967295 new aio limit=261 obj#=-1 tim=581083891935
    WAIT #18446741324892168800: nam='SQL*Net message to dblink' ela= 4 driver id=1413697536 #bytes=1 p3=0 obj#=-1 tim=581084016896
WAIT #18446741324892168800: nam='SQL*Net more data from dblink' ela= 22 driver id=1413697536 #bytes=4 p3=0 obj#=-1 tim=581084030942 So I raised call with Oracle and gave me patch for fix "asynch descriptor resize" but the problem still exist with below wait events
    WAIT #18446741324892168800: nam='SQL*Net message to dblink' ela= 4 driver id=1413697536 #bytes=1 p3=0 obj#=-1 tim=581084016896
WAIT #18446741324892168800: nam='SQL*Net more data from dblink' ela= 22 driver id=1413697536 #bytes=4 p3=0 obj#=-1 tim=581084030942 Normally in the 10g this Query used to come out under second
So I used the Hint 10.2.0.4 in the Query and the output came under second.
So I updated the optimizer feature parameter to 10.2.0.4 and then Queries started working fine.
In the Test Environment I was able to reproduce the same problem.
    Test Case
Took the physical copy for the Upgraded DB
Run the same Query with 11.2.0.2 optimizer and saw the same problem
    Deleted the Schema level stats
    Generated the new stats
Executed the same Query(Out came under second)
Oracle Support Still working on this issue
As any one has faced this issue.
    Regards
    NM

    You can do this also
    1. Export 3 schemas with grants=y rows=N and import the data schema structure with grants
2.Check the log file for missing roles and create those roles using from dba_role_privs..etc
    3. Import the data ignore=y option
    Hope this helps

  • Programmatically disabling database reporting in new 2012 process model?

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded from teststand 2010 to 2012, and with that has come a few days of porting our fairly heavily modified "older" process model into the new one with a plugin architecture.  All is finally running smooth except for one thing which has me stumped all afternoon.
In our other process model, all we had to do was put a precondition on the process model step "log to database", based on the response in a custom process executed in PostUUT.  It does not appear so straight forward with the new architecture, since there is no explicit top level "log to database" sequence to simply put a precondition.
So what I have tried, unsuccessfully, is
Move PostUUT sequence ahead of the "Model Plugins - UUT Done", which appears is the one which eventually calls the log to database steps (through many subsequence calls).
Then programmatically setting the following flags in PostUUT if the user chooses not to log to database (this database plugin is enabled by default in configure/result processing:
    Parameters.ModelPluginConfiguration.Plugins[1].PluginSpecific.Options.DisableDatabaseLogging = True
    Parameters.ModelPluginConfiguration.Plugins[1].Base.Enabled = False
It seems that in a  sequence in modelsupport.seq, Call UUT done/Batch Done, has a for loop that eventually iterates on the database options cluster (element 1 in this case), but ignores that fact that the above flags are set such to disable logging.
What is the proper/preferred way to disable database logging if chosen at the end of the run by the user?
    Thanks
    David Jenkinson

    Hi,
I did see that it is now being called in that file, but was hesitant to put the modification there, because new installations of disksets in the future would overwrite that modelsupport.seq, and I'd have to re-code that pre-condition every time we upgrade.  And if I save-as, is there the risk that future updates of modelsupport.seq, or NI-logger, will get lost, when the updates are necessary?  I was hoping to get away with either modifying the process model (which we have under source control), or modifying a property in memory which somehow bypasses database logging programmatically.  There do seem to be properties in existence which imply they would prevent logging, but they don't work when setting them to values other than what they were originally assigned (dicated by the report options before the run).
An no we are not using OTF for this very reason, to choose if a test run is to be logged to the database after the run.
Is there a callback to enable that overrides this default sequence call?

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)

First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation  worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
(Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w,  deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
    and
    then
I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)"  from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
    The values I filled for
    1) Global Database Name :  orcl
    2) System Identifier : orcl
    3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
    4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
    5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
    6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
    Username : sys/ as sysdba
Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
After this you are ready to write your first SQL command.

Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.
