Database adapter causes deadlock

We use database adapter on 3 standalone tables with no FK. At the beginning of the process, we do a read
<jca:operation
ActivationSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.db.DBActivationSpec" ...>
At the end we do an update with
<jca:binding />
<operation name="merge">
<jca:operation
InteractionSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.db.DBWriteInteractionSpec"...>
That is, two db adapters at two ends.
We have got deadlocks with <lock-mode>1</lock-mode> or <lock-mode>0</lock-mode>.
We ahve two bpel nodes (10.1.2) in a cluster running on 10g RAC.
Any suggestion of avoiding deadlocks?

If you are using SOA Suite 11g you can use query by example option to achieve part of that.
It support only equality check but on dynamic number of fields

  • BPEL process initiated by a database adapter causing problems in HA environ

    We are having a High Availability architecture configuration(active - active) for the BPEL System in our production environment.
    The BPEL servers are clustered in the middle tier of the architecture and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
    We have a BPEL process which is initiated by a database adapter.
    This BPEL process polls a source database, reads the data, writes it into a JMS Topic and marks flag as read back to the table.
    A Message Driven Bean(MDB) listens to the JMS Topic, and writes the data in the destination database.
    We have the polling process and the MDB deployed to both the nodes of the BPEL server.
    We have noticed that some records are getting processed by both the nodes.
    This is resulting in duplicate records at the destination tables.
    Kindly advise how we can resolve this issue.

    The BPEL servers are configured with active - active topology and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
    BPEL Servers is not clustered. Load Balancer is used in front of the two nodes of the BPEL servers.

  • Error while invoking custom API using Database Adapter

    Hi,
    I've a requirement where in I need to fetch the data returned by a recordtype of a custom API. I've implemented this by invoking the custom API using Database Adapter. I'm facing a problem while performing this.
    The custom API holds the signature as:
    PROCEDURE EMP_DET
    Argument Name Type      In/Out Default?
    P_DEPTNO NUMBER IN
    L_LINE_TBL TABLE OF RECORD OUT
    I've a schema with which it needs to be validated. It looks like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
    <schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:po="http://www.mycompany.com/ns/sales" targetNamespace="http://www.mycompany.com/ns/sales" elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <element name="EmployeeDetails">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="EmpNo" type="integer"/>                    <element name="EName" type="string"/>                    <element name="Job" type="string"/>                    <element name="Mgr" type="integer"/>                    <element name="HireDate" type="date"/>                    <element name="Sal" type="decimal"/>                    <element name="Comm" type="decimal"/>               </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    </schema>
    I did a transformation to the above stated Emp.xsd with the xsd created for my custom API by the BPEL process. I could create the process and deploy successfully, but while invoking I get the following error. (I'm using BPM 10.1.3.1 with JDev 10.1.3.1)

    Issue with DB Adapter - ORABPEL-11811

    The retrieved data is correct. The Database Adapter is pointing to an AS/400 table which does not have primary keys defined. In the offline database, I've defined CGVMSTCST to be the primary key.
    The toplink_mappings.xml reflects that:
    <opm:alias>Cstcgvmp</opm:alias>
    <opm:primary-key>
    <opm:field table="CSTCGVMP" name="CGVMSTCST" xsi:type="opm:column"/>
    </opm:primary-key>
    The value of this field for 3M is 101 (which was correctly picked up).
    Why am I getting a primary key is null error?

    I did, but I'm not sure how.
    I deleted the Database Adapter and the associated offline file and reran the wizard (having a better idea of how to implement a parameter search) and it worked.
    I was not able to identify what was created differently the second time.

    The INSERT operation works fine with the database adapter, but I cannot get MERGE and UPDATE operations to work as expected!
    Thanks.

    hi Sudeep,
    We are at first hand struggling with DB adapter problem getting down everytime. Don't know the reason why.
    DB adapter is in down state and when trying to make it up gives below error:
    "weblogic.application.ModuleException: weblogic.connector.exception.RAException: Jndi Name is null or empty."
    I just created a simple sync process using DB adapter (custom select) and deplyed successfully. I hope jndi name is not to be configured in weblogic-ra.xml file.
    This is the first time we are using this JNDI name (eis/DB/calvindb).
    Any inputs will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nikhil

  • PollingInterval in database adapter

    Hi,
    I have SOA 11g with two nodes. I have a database adapter that polls a table after every 30 seconds and perform logical delete on the rows read. I came across interesting situation. When one node is up and PollingInterval=30, it works okay and polling is done right after 30 seconds but when both nodes are up the PollingInterval property doesnt work as expected. It will poll after 24 seconds and then second node will again poll after 6 seconds (node1+node2=30 seconds in total).
    Just wondering if I am missing something or doing something wrong? I want each node to run after 30 seconds (i.e only one instance after 30 seconds). My JCA file is:
    <connection-factory location="eis/DB/myConn" UIConnectionName="Connection1" adapterRef=""/>
    <endpoint-activation portType="MY_DATABASE_ptt" operation="receive">
    <activation-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.db.DBActivationSpec">
    <property name="DescriptorName" value="MY_DATABASE.XYZTABLE"/>
    <property name="QueryName" value="MY_DATABASESelect"/>
    <property name="MappingsMetaDataURL" value="MY_DATABASE-or-mappings.xml"/>
    <property name="PollingStrategy" value="LogicalDeletePollingStrategy"/>
    <property name="MarkReadColumn" value="PROCESSED_FLAG"/>
    <property name="MarkReadValue" value="P"/>
    <property name="MarkUnreadValue" value="Y"/>
    <property name="PollingInterval" value="30"/>
    <property name="MaxRaiseSize" value="100"/>
    <property name="MaxTransactionSize" value="100"/>
    <property name="SequencingColumn" value="TRANSACTION_ID"/>
    <property name="NumberOfThreads" value="1"/>
    <property name="ReturnSingleResultSet" value="false"/>
    </activation-spec>
    </endpoint-activation>
    </adapter-config>
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Just have at look at this can be helpful
    http://javaoraclesoa.blogspot.ca/2012/04/polling-with-dbadapter-in-clustered.html'
    This reserved value (MarkReservedValue in _db.jca) causes an instance of the process to set an identifier. This identifier is skipped by the other polling instances in the cluster.*

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index in database adapter

    I have a query that works fine if I run the sql in a JDeveloper SQL editor, but I get a "java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index" error if I paste it in a database adapter. If I put this query in the adapter:
    select <column>
      from <table>
       where <column> in (select
        trim( substr (txt,
              instr (txt, ',', 1, level  ) + 1,
              instr (txt, ',', 1, level+1)
                 - instr (txt, ',', 1, level) -1 ) )
          as token
        from (select ','||#bindVariable||',' txt
                from dual)
      connect by level <=
         length(#bindVariable)-length(replace(#bindVariable,',',''))+1)I get the error. But if I just put the sub query in the adapter as:
    select
        trim( substr (txt,
              instr (txt, ',', 1, level  ) + 1,
              instr (txt, ',', 1, level+1)
                 - instr (txt, ',', 1, level) -1 ) )
          as token
        from (select ','||#bindVariable||',' txt
                from dual)
      connect by level <=
         length(#bindVariable)-length(replace(#bindVariable,',',''))+1the error goes away. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Could you please make sure your binding style(Oracle Positional,Oracle named..etc) of the Seeded VO and Custom Vo are same.
    This is the option you will get when you are extending your vo. So make sure that both are same.
    You can refer the below link too
    VO extension leads to "Invalid column index" exception

    Hi,
    To use the ServiceControl you need to be in a container that supports controls. This is what will instantiate your control for you, and take care of the some of the services controls require.
    So to use the ServiceControl you'll need to invoke it from another web service, a page flow, or another control.
    If you need to invoke from a standard main program, one option would be to use a standard WLS JAX-RPC client. This can be generated with their <clientgen> ant task.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with database adapter on plsql procedure with in/out parameters

    it appears to be a problem in the database adapter...
    anyone with the same problems and/or a solution?

    Not of any use to you, but we had exactly the same problem on Friday when we applied AS 10.1.2.2 Patchset on top of BPEL 10.1.2.0.2.
    The clob in our pl/sql proc wan't declared as in/out but for some reasons JDeveloper had created a clob on the Output Parameter type in the db partner link xsd. I removed this and it worked. This code had been untouched , and working fine, for months.
    I'll be raising an SR today.

    The database version is only important with the dehydration store. If you are using the adapters to select / delete / update / insert data into your application it comes down to the jdbc drivers. Basically if you are above 8i you should be fine.
    olite is a very basic database, and the jdbc drivers are flaky, it's also not based on the Oracle code, therefore is not upgradable if you want to increase performance. You would need to perform some manual steps to migrate to a standard database.
    If you are wanting to do basic tutorials and don't want to have a heavy database using all your resources, use oracle XE. No need to pact. If you have a oracle database installed somewhere use that.

  • Database adapter wizard issue

    Hi,
    I recently created a bpel flow containing a database adapter where I completed all the steps through to completion. Since then, when I attempt to review the adapter by double-clicking on it and then click on "Define Adapter Service", then when I step through to the "Adapter Config. Wizard - Select Table" I am told :
    'No Tables Imported'.
    I cannot figure out what I have done to have caused this. As far as I can see everything related to the database adapter from its initial creation still exists:
    * under "Application Sources" I see the adapter, and within this are 3 javaclasses that relate to the tables in the join
    * under "Application Sources->TopLink" again I see a reference to the adapter
    * under "Integration Content", there is another reference to the adapter, which contains :
    - wsdl, xsd & toplink mappings xml
    I have two further database adapters that do not have any issues - I can use the wizard to review their configuration. The entire flow compiles without issues...
    Is there anyway I can "fix" the 1st adapter so that the wizard correctly shows the imported tables?
    Thanks in advance.
    Anit

    Hi,
    No it is not a bug, I think. If you created your query by choosing from imported tables/views and related those using the wizard, the only way to change them is to re-import the tables and basically redefine your database adapter.
    It's a pity, but that's how it is (also in 10.1.2 I saw recently).

    Martien

  • Database Adapter InsertProblem

    Hi All,
    I am trying to insert a row in the master and detail table, and for that I am using Custom SQL. The problem is that I have two insert commands and
    TopLink probably does not allow this.
    Here is the jca file:

    <property name="GetActiveUnitOfWork" value="false"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    <input/>
    </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>
    And error that I get:

  • Access to package through database adapter in Soa suite problems

    Hi,
    We have to build a bpel process that inserts data in Oracle EBS custom tables. We have to use Soa suite 10.1.3.4.0.
    In Oracle EBS we have made a custom api with a pl/sql record and 2 pl/sql tables as argument.
    When i made a database adapter, Jdeveloper made a wrapper package to translate to this custom api.
    Under the user apps this works fine.
    But I have the following problem: Our customer does not want us to connect to apps schema direct.
    So we made another user that is granted to the custom api , the wrapper api and the types for the wrapper api.
    I even created public synonyms for all these objects.
    But still runtime in BPEL console these errors occurs:

    Vaguely remember that there was some restriction to use DB and EBS adapter that types had to be owned by the schema that was connecting to it. Please check the docs for this.
