Problem with database adapter on plsql procedure with in/out parameters

running BPEL 10.1.3.1 and using the database adapter on a plsql procedure with in/out parameters I get errors
the plsql procedure:
create or replace procedure proc_with_clob_inout_parameter(
p_string in varchar2,
p_clob in out clob)
is
begin
p_clob := p_string;
end proc_with_clob_inout_parameter;
In BPEL I call this procedure. When I only assign a value to the p_string parameters (in a BPEL assign) all is well. When I also assign a value to the p_clob parameter the error occurs:

In BPEL 10.1.2.0 this isn't a problem. I tested it against a 10.2.0.1 and a 10.2.0.2 database and in both situations I get the error with BPEL 10.1.3.1 and no error with BPEL 10.1.2.0
it appears to be a problem in the database adapter...
anyone with the same problems and/or a solution?

Not of any use to you, but we had exactly the same problem on Friday when we applied AS 10.1.2.2 Patchset on top of BPEL 10.1.2.0.2.
The clob in our pl/sql proc wan't declared as in/out but for some reasons JDeveloper had created a clob on the Output Parameter type in the db partner link xsd. I removed this and it worked. This code had been untouched , and working fine, for months.
I'll be raising an SR today.

  • Database Adapter calling stored procedure with xmlDOM.DOMNODE input problem

    Hi all,
    I have been asked to do a POC on using SOA suite to generate a web-service for several database stored procedure. A few of them can be done without a fuss. But I am now stuck with a stored procedure that has input and output as xmlDOM.DOMNODE type.
    The stored procedure is very simple as below:
    procedure prc_accinquiry(request in xmlDOM.DOMNODE, response out xmlDOM.DOMNODE) is
    begin
    response := request;
    end prc_accinquiry;
    I get the following error
    Error while writing wsdl file C:/JDeveloper/mywork/ABSPOC/NetBanking/DomNodeTestDB.wsdl. Exception: WSDLException: faultCode=OTHER_ERROR: The wrapper procedure, PACK_TESTING$PRC_ACCINQUIRY, could not be found in the package, BPEL_DOMNODETESTDB, for the schema, MBTT
    Did I do something wrong? or DOMNODE is not part of supported datatype for DB Adapter stored procedure call from JDeveloper?
    The environment is SOA suite 11g 11.1.1.5 with Database 11 XE
    Thank you in advance,
    Jomphop

    This problem can be resolved by granting execute permission on the object type to the caller. For example, if the stored procedure is in schema1 and the object type is in schema2 then you would connect as schema2 and execute
    SQL> grant execute on <object type> to schema1
    Referencing object types defined in other schemas is documented. This is the described method for accessing object types in other schemas.

  • OSB with database adapter using stored procedure

    Hi All,
    We have a following requirement, in OSB while using the DB adapter with stored procedure.
    1) the store procedure has custome datatype as inout parameter
    2) send reference cursor as input to stored procedure
    Can you please let me know how to do this.
    Thanks,

  • Calling PLSQL Procedure with CLOB input parameter from JDBC

    Hi..
    I've got a PLSQL procedure with a CLOB object as input parameter:
    function saveProject (xmldoc CLOB) RETURN varchar IS
    I want to call that procedure from my JDBC Application as...
    String data = "..."
    CallableStatement proc = conn.prepareCall
              ("begin ? := saveProject (?); end;");
    neither
    proc.setCharacterStream(2, new StringReader(data, data.length());
    nor
    proc.setString(2, data);
    will work.
    The Application throws java.sql.Exception: ... PLS-00306 wrong
    number or types of arguments in call 'SAVEPROJECT'
    How can I use set setClob method?
    The Problem is: with Oracles CLOB implementation I can't create
    an Instance, and from the CallableStatement a can't get a
    Locator for a CLOB-Object.
    This CLOB stuff makes me really nuts!
    please somebody help me.. thanks
    Alex

    Hi All,
    You can not make it like that.
    You can not make clob as input parameter.
    Do you want an easy way?
    This is the easy way.
    sample:
    function myFunction(S varchar2(40))
    return integer as
    begin
    insert into TableAAA values(S)
    --TableAAA only contains 1 column of clob type
    end;
    This will work the problem with this is the parameter is in
    varchar2 right? so there will be limited length for it.
    You can do this to call that function:
    nyFunction('My String that will be input into clob field');
    There's another slight difficult way, I understand that you have
    installed Oracle client/server in your system, try to look at
    jdbc folder and try to find demo.zip in that folder, you can
    find several ways of doing thing with jdbc.
    Have a nice day,
    Evan

  • Ldapbind to database adapter users in OVD with email

    Hi!
    Can anyone tell me howto ldapbind to database adapter users in OVD with email or uid?
    Ldapbind with full DN work just fine.
    Thanks!

    >
    Also I can bind to users in database CRM OVD-DB table using
    ldapbind -h ovd.mydomain.com -p 6501 -D "cn=extcustomername,cn=customers,cn=users,dc=mydoamin,dc=com" -w %custpwd%
    But I getting "ldap_bind: Invalid credentials" error trying to bind with:
    ldapbind -h ovd.mydomain.com -p 6501 -D cn=extcustomername -w %custpwd%You can bind with UPN to AD because AD is special.
    You won't be able to bind with cn=extcustomername using out of the box adapter. If you write your own plugin that will look up the DN based on cn=extcustomername, then have the plugin do the bind with the DN for you, it'll work. Then you would have to make sure this plugin will work with the database adapter, I haven't tried it so I don't know.
    If you're trying to make this bind with cn=extcustomername work for OAM to OVD, then you don't need to do it. Leave the adapter as is (bind with full DN). External users will login to OAM-protected application with their username or whatever is the value of cn. OAM will then look up the DN based on the cn or any other attribute, this is configured in authentication scheme in credential_mapping plugin. Take a look at the OBE example: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/im1014/ovd-oam/index.htm

  • Database Adapter: cannot access table with complex record type as columns

    Hi all,
    I cannot perform any operations on a table that has columns with complex record type.
    I have created a table to store purchase order details.
    Sample script:
    CREATE type XX_CUST_INFO_TYP as object
    ssn VARCHAR2(20),
    rating NUMBER(15)
    CREATE type XX_ITEM_TYP as object
    item_name VARCHAR2(20),
    unit_price NUMBER(15),
    quantity NUMBER(15)
    CREATE table XX_PORDER (cust XX_CUST_INFO_TYP, porder XX_ITEM_TYP);
    When i try to access the table X_PORDER in jdev through a database Adapter, i receive the error as
    "some tables contains columns that are not recognized by the database adpter"
    1.) so in this case, how to include such tables that have complex types?
    Also, check out this scenario also..
    1. add a table through a database adapter
    2. drop the table in backend
    3. i can still see the table and its structure in the database adapter wizard even after restarting Jdeveloper.. How is it possible?
    These are some really interesting scenarios to experiment. Please suggest your ideas on this..
    Thanks All!

    Hi Hem,
    for a select you could select against a view. And for inserts you could create a stored procedure. They support complex types since 10.1.2. Complex types support in tables/views was added for 11 (next major release).
    You might be able to use PureSQL as a workaround too, i.e.
    insert into XX_PORDER values (XX_CUST_INFO_TYP(?,?), XX_ITEM_TYP(?, ?, ?))
    As for your other problem, in 10.1.2/10.1.3 the DBAdapter wizard sits on top of the Jdev Offline Tables and TopLink Mapping Workbench components. When you remove a table in the wizard it won't delete the Offline DB component. It was added by the wizard, but afterwards it is public to the entire Jdev project. You must remove it from Jdev yourself. This has been improved for the next major release too, no artifacts from underlying components are created.
    To remove it select:
    Offline DB Objects -> <schema> -> <table> and try File.. Erase From Disk.
    Thanks
    Steve

    there will be a way with which i can see all the data(select * from test_sh) as the output of the plsql procedurePL/SQL is
    a) nothing at all like T-SQL
    b) two different languages, PL (Programming Logic) and SQL
    SQL is used to access data in the Oracle database. So select * from test_sh is the correct statement to access the data.
    The client can make execute this SQL statement itself. And view the data. However, this requires the client to understand the SQL language, and the database model. Which is typically not that you want. You want to abstract that from the client.
    Why would you want the client to deal with the complexities of the SQL language? Or deal with the complexities of your database model in Oracle?
    So instead of the client doing SQL, PL/SQL can do it on behalf of the client. The client uses PL/SQL as an API - in a similar fashion as the client would use any other API.
    The PL/SQL code determines the SQL statement - and returns a SQL cursor handle to the client. The client then simply uses the SQL cursor that the PL/SQL code created for it (and the client needs to close the SQL cursor when done, so as to not cause server resource leakage).
    E.g. (using PL/SQL as an API to abstract SQL and the data model)
    create or replace procedure TestProc( c out sys_refcursor ) is
    begin
      open c for select * from test_sh order by 1;
    end;The client then calls TestProc and gets a reference cursor handle. E.g. (the client call to Oracle):
    begin
      TestProc( c => :1 );
    end;The client needs to supply a host (client language) bind variable of type cursor, as value for bind variable +:1+.
    This is the correct way to deal with PL/SQL and cursors from a client GUI/language perspective. Any other method, like using PL/SQL to cache SQL data as a collection, is usually very wrong.

    Thanks in advance.

    From the error it is clear that your composite is not able to find the DB jndi.The JCA Binding Component is unable to startup the Resource Adapter specified in the <connection-factory/> element: location='eis/DB/DB_Conn'.
    Please follow these steps:
    1) Have u created DB jndi eis/DB/DB_Conn that you are using on weblogic console.
    2) After creating did you redeploy the DB adapter on weblogic console.
    3) If you have done above 2 steps cross check your jndi exists in ur DB adapter or not on weblogic console.
    That could only be the possible reasons for the error you are getting.
    Hope this helps.

    Since you mention dbms_job, can you use dbms_scheduler since you can pass in parms? You can schedule the job to run "now" and while it may have a slight delay starting up due to available processes for the scheduler and system load, it will run as soon as it can.
    What are you trying to accomplish in your environment? I'm not following why you want to allow a user to schedule any DB procedure. A certain set yes, all, no.
    You could create a generic AQ structure where it is passed some information regarding what procedure needs to run and what/where the parms are. This driver procedure would then be responsible for calling a random procedure via dynamic SQL. I've never tried passing parms to a procedure via dynamic SQL but recall reading you could do it. I wouldn't recommend this approach unless you have no better options though.

  • Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 Polling database table with Database Adapter

    We are trying to use the database adapter to poll for new and changed data in a database. To do that we try to use a sequencing table on an external database. But for that we need to specify the data-source name for the external sequencing table. Where do we need to define this data-source? We have tried with data-source defined in the Enterprise Manager, but it's not right. Also tried with the name of database connection in JDeveloper, still not working.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    If you are trying to understand how to create a connection pool for a data source, then this document might be helpful

  • Reading MS Access Database file with database adapter in soa

    I have an .MDB file on another machine that i want to read from within SOA composite using database adapter. can i do that ? how ?

    Have you checked out the jdbc-odbc bridge from Sun?  I would think you should be able to create a jdbc connection to Microsoft Access.  With that connection, you would then be able to create a jndi entry on the DB adapter from SOA.  I haven't used this before, so I'm not sure how well, or even if it would work.

  • Intermittence for execute Polling with DataBase Adapter in OSB11g

    Hello Guys,
    I'm having a problem running the polling DataBase Adapter OSB11g. The creation of the adapter was made in Jdeveloper 11.
    The problem is:
    Intermittence to run the polling DataBase. Sometimes it works, other time it does not work.
    Displays the following exception:
    *<Info> <JCA_FRAMEWORK_AND_ADAPTER> <BEA-000000> <<oracle.tip.adapter.db.InboundWork handleException> BINDING.JCA-11624*
    DBActivationSpec Polling Exception.
    *Query name: [BD_XPTO_NOTIFICA_XPTOSelect], Descriptor name: [BD_XPTO_NOTIFICA_PRICING.XPTO]. Polling the database for events failed on this iteration.*
    Caused by JTS transaction was marked rollback only.
    This exception is considered retriable, likely due to a communication failure.  Polling will be attempted again next polling interval.
    This is a BUG? Have Fix?
    Tks,
    Azevedo, Artur.

    It looks like a database issue or a XA configuration issue? What database you're polling? Oracle? Sybase? Check if your database is supported...
    Cheers,
    Vlad
