Database backup problem in DB13

Dear All,
<b>When we take backup from the command prompt using Brbackup or Brarchive it executes the backup process successfully, but when I schedule the same thing in the DBA calendar it shows that job finished but it actually  does not take the backup. I have given all parameter required for the backup in the DBA calendar like eg, the  scheduled time, the tape generic name, archive type.</b>
Can anybody guide what is going wrong ...because of that I am not able to schedule backup using DB13 tcode.
At present I am using Brtools( Brbackup) to take the backup.
Thanks in adv.
Bhaskar

one active control file is enough for database to run, you can do copy/paste on line, but make sure that what you do. make sure that all the control files are in same in size.
i suggest you make a copy of existing control file and then perform copy.
For example the control files details:
    SQL> show parameter control_files;
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    control_files                        string      /oracle/PRD/sapdata1/cntrl/cntrlPRD.dbf,
                                                           /oracle/PRD/sapdata2/cntrl/cntrlPRD.dbf,
                                                           /oracle/PRD/saparch/cntrl/cntrlPRD.dbf

  • Full Database Backup in DB13 for MS SQL Server databases

    Hello,
We have some SAP systems using the MS SQL Server database. I want to know if it is possible to setup the Full Database Backup option in transaction DB13 to store the files in a hard disk space.
I already did this type of configuration in SAP systems in Oracle databases and for this I used the init<SID>.sap where we can put all the configuration, for instance the disk path where we want to save the backup files! But for MS SQL Server databases, in DB13, I don´t know how to do that, when I add the "Full Database Backup" option in DB13, this show me some options but only for tape, but I don´t want to store the backup files in tapes, I want to store/save the files on the server disk itself or else to an external disk but I don´t see where I can set this way of storage!
This is what you see in DB13 (when using a MS SQL Server database) in "Full Database Backup" and as you see I only have options for TAPE not for a disk or other type of storage! How can I do that? (if that is possible):
    Can you help me please?
    Kind regards,
    samid raif

    Hello Raja
Sorry for the delay of my answer! Many thanks for that tip, it helps a lot and it solve the last error/problem that I reported here, in fact, the problem was we had named the device with two words containing a space. So we removed that space from the backup device (in SQL management studio) with one word only and the job runs successfully without any errors!
It works in Development and Quality systems but in our Production system (AM1) the Full backup option in DB13 stopped with the following error, in fact the error is on verification of backup, it means that the Full backup finished with success, but when it does the backup verification, the job in DB13 stops with an error, the following one:

what's the problem ????? anyone help me...
I have substituted XXXXX for the name of my backup file
I really need some help here. My database was lost and I need to restore the backup. We have a lot of hours of cataloguing and metatagging in there!
    thanks

    Hello Everyone,
I haven't solved the problem, but I have found the root of it. The short answer is DO NOT RUN FINAL CUT SERVER 1.1.1 ON A MACHINE WITH SNOW LEOPARD SERVER!!!
I finally realized through a long and painful process of trying to restore our database, rolling back to Leopard server, upgrading again to Snow Leopard Server, and going back again to Leopard Server, that ALL of our database backups created after the Snow Leopard Server upgrade cannot be restored in FCServer 1.1.1. I don't know if FCServer 1.5 will read them, and I'm not about to spend the money to find out.
I'm really disappointed here. Apple does say that FCServer 1.5 is the compatible version to run with Snow Leopard server, but they certainly don't warn of the disaster that could occur if you try to run FCserver 1.1.1 with Snow Leopard Server.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to extract the data from hundreds of items that have been entered so that we don't have to re-enter them all again.
So again, be warned. If you are upgrading to Snow Leopard Server, upgrade your FCServer too. At least I hope that's all it takes. For our part, we're back to Leopard Server and staying there for a while.

  • Send database backup logs (DB13) to administrator e-mail

    Hello,
I want to know if there is an automated way to periodically send the database backup logs (those shown in DB13) to an e-mail.
Does anybody know how to do this?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards.

    Hello,
I am not sure if your admin would want to recieve the logs irrespective if the backup was successfull or not, because the log can be huge one at times.
    Also,
Its better to have the status emailed instead of entire log files.
so for example if the backup log has some warnings, then a yellow alert is sent.
or if it has failed a RED alert is sent.
The administrator can then investigate the cause of yellow and green alerts.
    Check the following note:
SAP Note Number: 746193  - RZ20: Generating all-clears ("green alerts")

    Hello
The previous contributor is correct, the profile is usually read from ORACLE_HOME.  I have never seen this error linking to the Oracle client directory, please double check the following
Ensure that your envirionment variables are correctly set ORACLE_HOME, DIR_LIBRARY
Brtools are always installed on the DB server and can be called from any application server.   if you are scheduling from DB13 on the application server, what is the connection setup?  RSH, RFC,  standalone gateway?
If using a standalone gateway, it must be installed on the DB server, please refer to oss notes #446172, #1025707

  • Online Backup Problems - DOA Error

    Hi all!
I tried to establish an online backup for one of my Testservers. I configured the init<SID>.ora in the same way as the file is configured on an other Server (Backup works fine there).
In addition I adapted the parameter-file.
Are there any other configurations have to be done?
The Backup should be performed by an other Server.
The Backuputility (BAckupExec 10) allready starts the BAckupJob but this Job fails (without any Error -> I canceled the job after 30 Minutes without writing data...)
I planned the Job in DB13 - attached the second PArt of the Log!
Perhaps somebody can give me a hint to solve the Problem!
Would be great to solve that,
    Alex

But I donu2019t know where to make changes so that when I start the backup through DP GUI it should use backup tool as u201CBACKu201D

    Hi Natalia,
Thanks for the reply...Please find the answer as below,
-> What is the version of Data Protector?
    Data Protector 5.5
-> What is the version of the database?
    SAP MaxDB 7.6
-> According your information you could use the DBMGUI to create the medium of u201CBACKu201D type and create the databackup using this medium. Correct?
    Yes
The problems are with Data Protector GUI, not with MAXDB or DBMGUI. Correct?
    Yes
Please let me know where to make any changes or any enviornment settings to be done in Data Protector GUI so that it will use the medium "BACK" as backup tool while i start the backup through Data Protector GUI.
    Thanks,

  • DBACockpit Configuration - Remote Database backup of Java Stack.

    Hi All,
I am configuring remote database backup of my SAP Java stack system.
I have successfully connected the system in dbacockpit. I have gateway installed also on the remote host system. but Database scheduling on DB13 failed.
On the OS of CEN system, I can connect to the host system of the remote using the OPS$ logon and i.e
sqlplus /@SID as sysdba  - (It connected, to confirm i querried the v$instance I was also able to shutdown the remote system)
    E:\>sqlplus /@SID as sysdba
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production on Wed May 18 15:37:46 2011
Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle.  All Rights Reserved.
    Connected to:
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
But when I ran the brtools to perform the backup I got this error.
"BR0301W SQL error -12560 at location BrDbConnect-2, SQL statement:

    Hi Niyi,
This is a TNS error. The system is not able to connect TNS by using br*tools.
Firstly, check your environment variables. They should be as same as java system environmnt variables.
    Secondly, check the link below;
    [BR0301W SQL error -1017;
You need to create a synonym and SAPUSER table for the gateway installation <sid>adm user on Java database. By doing so, br*tools will be able to connect to the java database.

  • Error restoring SQL 2008 R2 DB into SQL 2012: BACKUP LOG cannot be performed because there is no current database backup.

I have a SQL 2008 R2 database that I am trying to move to 2012.  Made a full backup of the database in 2008 R2.  Recovery model is Simple, compatibility level is 2008  Went to 2012, created a dummy database, did Tasks--> Restore -->
Database , located the backup file, selected it, changed the file locations and tried to restore the backup (with overwrite option), got the following error:
BACKUP LOG cannot be performed because there is no current database backup.
This is a simple task that has always worked in 2008 R2.  Does anyone know what the problem is and a possible solution?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This error occurs when the database recovery model has been changed to Simple and/or the recovery model has been changed back to Full but a full backup has not been performed since the change.
If a full backup has been performed, the following conditions will require that another full backup be taken:
     · The recovery model had been changed without taking a full backup
     · A SQL maintenance plan task had changed the recovery model (reindexing can cause this)
     · A backup specifying TRUNCATE_ONLY had been run on the database
     · The database was detached from another server and attached to the current server
Additionally, if we take full database backup after the Database is set to readonly, Then transaction log backup we will end up with this error. This is expected behavior. I have list an example within the link below.
Please check above conditions and fix your issue, if you have any concern, please let me know.
    Example:
BACKUP LOG cannot be performed because there is no current database backup.
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/b5c36e60-836f-4c9e-b9d7-3fb3f3ee4d37/backup-log-cannot-be-performed-because-there-is-no-current-database-backup
