Database - Combo box

Hi,i'am facing a problem when i'am adding the values retrived from a query into the combo box.
1)when the query is "order by" only few items are getting added to the list and the rest of the elements below this are not displayed.
2)when i remove the "order by" from the query every thing is fine.all the items are getting added to the list and rest of the items are also displayed
Below is the code,i'am using.Can any one help me in analysing the problem
<tr>
<td><font face="verdana" size="1"><b>Account Category </b> </font> </td>
<td>
<select name="txtActCat" size="1">
<%
rs1=stmt1.executeQuery("select * from costcenter");
while(rs1.next())
%>
<option value="<%=rs1.getString("cost_id")%>"><%=rs1.getString("cost_desc")%></option>
<%

  • How to populate values from database into a Combo Box?

    Hi,
    How to display all the values of a field of a database table in a combo box inside a grid in B1 user defined form?
    Regards,
    Sudeshna.

    Hi,
    If you are trying to do this on a system form (I gues this is your case, reading the other question), for example Sales Orders, and you want to show the values from a User Defined Table (UDT), you just need to add a User Defined Field on Marketing Documents Line level, and say it is linked to the UDT.
    SBO will automatically show the combo with the values on the Code field of the UDT.
    Regards,
    Ibai Peña
    Sorry, I didn´t read the post well.
    What you could do is each time the form is loaded, read the values from the table, and asign them as Valid Values for the combobox column. You can do this programatically, or using XML (which is recommended becouse of better performance).

  • How to fetch records from the database into a combo box?

    Hi:
    I&acute;m really new with ABLBPM and I&acute;m trying to fetch records from the database to display them into a combo box as valid values for a presentation but I&acute;m using a dynamic method with this code:
    <em>for each row in SELECT campo1, campo2 from TABLE</em>
    <em>do</em>
    <em>solicitudes[] = [row.campo1, row.campo2]</em>
    <em>end</em>
    <em>return solicitudes
    </em>And the debugger says that SQL instructions can be used only in fuctions and procedures that are executed on the server.
    Do you know another way to do it?
    P.D. Sorry for my terrible english

  • Trying to filter an entire database using a combo box or text box

    Hi,
    I am looking to create a combo box with rows vice columns, then I would like to create a macro or some for form of filter that gives me the option to search within each or all of the selections.
    I have created a search function (using a textbox and the button features) that allows me to search for anything in my database using applyfilter. The problem that I ran into with this was that when I hit the might work, but only the first line worked.
    So I tried to use a combination box to create a filter of the fields that I want to view for the particular search I need, but I want to select row headers vice columns of information. For example if I have five fields of: Last Name, First Name, SSN, Document
    number and Unique ID.
    I want a combination box to show the following field header when I click the drop down option.
    (Last Name
    First Name
    SSN
    Documentation Number
    Unique ID)
    Then I would to apply a macro filter feature for files within theses individual fields. I am just getting started in VBA and using Macros, so any help would be awesome!!
    If I am too far off target please direct me back, I tend to over think things.
    Thanks in Advance

    Dirk Goldgar, I tried to you use the suggested method you gave me. Part of the problem I was having was that I wanted to view the field list, which I now know is very possible thanks to you, but only wanted it to show as one single list of fields.
    So took the information you gave me and went on to create a list box instead. I later found out why this was not working either.
    In what way was it not working?  You can do the same thing with a list box as I described for a combo box.
    I have relationships of tables attached.
    I don't understand what you mean by that last statement, or how it's relevant to the discussion.  Do you mean you have multiple different tables that you might want to filter?  So you would need to either (a) first need to select a table from a
    list of tables in your database, and only then select a field in that table, or else (b) have a table listing all the data elements you might want to search, with the table and field name of each, and base a list box on that -- then the code to search would
    know what table to select from, as well as what field to filter on.
    So this info that you provided was very helpful. I will continue to go through the link you provided.
    So I can quickly sum up what I need:
    1. A dropdown box that allows me to search any Field List
    2. A textbox that allows me to type in the searchable information for that particular field.
    3. Or some way to build a filter function for the whole list, with a textbox to search the key words.
    This is all still a bit unclear to me, because I don't know whether you want to search a particular table, or any of many possible tables in the database.

  • Question abt. combo box and database

    Hi. I have two combo boxes, A and B. Items in A is obtained from table X, Items in B is obtained from table Y. But, the problem is that whatever appears in combo box B should not contain those in combo box A. How do i go about doing this? Note that values in table X come from values in table Y.Here's an example:
    (this is I currently have)
    Combo X             Combo Y
    Apple            Mango
    Orange           Kiwi Fruit
    Pineapple        Apple
    Kiwi Fruit
    Mango          (this is I WANT)
    Combo X                  Combo Y
    Orange                  Mango
    Pineapple               Kiwi Fruit
                            ApplePlease help and thanks in advance.

    hi....
    First of all, I've designed the two combo boxes with Add/Delete buttons in the GUI. I'm using JSP to retrieve values from database table into my combo boxes.
    Actually, I have the two combo boxes already. I have already got the items inserted into combo A from table X using JSP. I am thinking of getting all the values in combo box B from the table Y first, then maybe store them in an array or something, b4 comparing those values with that from combo box A, eliminate those existing in combo box A, and the rest will be stored in combo B.
    I do not know exactly how to store values i obtained from table to an array and how to compare arrays.
    hope u understand what i'm trying to say, please help if possible, thanks.

  • **urgent*** -two  combo boxes  -one  database table - ***urgent**

    1. i have one html page - in that two combo boxes are there
    2. first one called--> Bank Name and second one called-->Main Branch
    3. i have a database table like BANK_MASTER(MAIN_BRANCH,BANK_NAME)
    i am giving here some data for the above table:
    (sbi-kurnool, sbi),(sbi-cadapah,sbi),(sbi-chittor,sbi),(ab-rangareddy,ab),(ab-varangal,ab) ..like that every bank has its own main branch in different location.
    MY PROBLEM:
    In HTML page, in the first combo box ie., Bank Name will display all the bank name using the table BANK_MASTER ie.,sbi,ab,cb,sbh ...... (its ok - i too get )
    main Problem: Whenever i select a particular bank name in the first combo box, the second combo box ie.,Main Branch has to display the main branches using the table Bank_Master depending on the Selected bank name from the Bank Name Combo box ( ie., if we select the sbi, it has to display all main branches of sbi's only, but not other bank's main branches)

    Hi friend,
    I had a similar situation and i tried to solve it by using XmlHttpRequest Object(used in AJAX).
    U can checkout the below example just for further reference delete
    UserForm.jsp:
    ==========
    <head>
    <script>
    var xmlHttp
    function showState(str)
    xmlHttp=GetXmlHttpObject()
    if (xmlHttp==null)
    alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request")
    return
    var url="getState.jsp"
    url=url+"?count="+str
    url=url+"&sid="+Math.random()
    xmlHttp.onreadystatechange=stateChange
    xmlHttp.open("GET",url,true)
    xmlHttp.send(null)
    function stateChange()
    if (xmlHttp.readyState==4 || xmlHttp.readyState=="complete"){
    document.getElementById("state").innerHTML=xmlHttp.responseText
    </head>
    <body>
    <select name='country' onchange="showState(this.value)">

    <div id='state'>
    <select name='state' >
    <option value='-1'>pickone</option>
    </select>
    </div>
    </body>
    getState.jsp
    ============
    <%@page language="java" import ="java.util.Hashtable" import ="java.util.Set" %>
    <%
    String country=request.getParameter("count");
    response.setContentType("text/html");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache");
    try{
    Hashtable ht = (Hashtable)session.getAttribute("<ATTRIBUTE_NAME>");
    String buffer="<select name='state'><option value='-1'>Pick One</option>";
    Set s=ht.keySet();
    Object keys[]=s.toArray();
    int size=keys.length;
    for(int i=0; i < size;i++){
    buffer=buffer+"<option value='"+ht.get(keys).toString()+"'>"+ht.get(keys).toString()+"</option>";
    buffer=buffer+"</select>";
    response.getWriter().println(buffer);
    catch(Exception exp){
    response.getWriter().println(exp);
    %> I think u may go upon replacing country with your Main Branch and vice versa

  • Populating Database values into a combo box in STRUTS Framework

    Hi Guys,
    I am currently working on a STRUTS Framework project and I can't get much resources related to the problems that I'm facing.
    Currently I need to populate a JSP file's Combo box with database values. What I don't know here is the syntax used to in STRUTS framework to populate the Combo box with database values. Anyone with experience related to this topic, please kindly help me out.

    Struts doesn't define anything about the datab layer. You're free to implement how you will.
    Struts instead guides you into following an MVC pattern.
    You populate a combo box with values from a bean.
    So you need to set up a bean for this page to talk to.
    That bean can be populated from the database - but at that point you're in java/jdbc code - and away from the struts layer.
    My suggestions
    1 - Define a bean to represent the information from the database.
    2 - write a method that queries the database, and copies the data into a List of those beans. This will be your Data access layer.
    3 - in your action, call that method, and then set the list of beans as a request attribute. Or maybe as a property on a form.
    4 - use that list of beans to populate your dropdown box.

  • Access 2010 Combo Box Failure on Database Close

    Problem: create a combo box with recordsource on table or query; Initially combo box "works" ; i.e when you begin to type values the combo box looks up the first matching value based on the recordsource.
    HOWEVER: Once you close the database and reopen this functionality is completely LOST...the values are still in the recordsource, if you click the dropdown all the values are displayed; however when typing in values the combo box no longer gets the first
    or any matching record.
    Thus the combox is all but useless unless there are very/very few records.
    Solutions I have tried:
    1. Creating a compleley new datbase (blank) ; a blank form with only a combobox.
    2. Importing my forms into a new blank database
    3. changing the recordsource settings from queries to tables to sql.
    4. running a /decomple on the database
    Absolutely nothing I have done works and I have spend hours doing this.
    I literally have no idea what is going on here.
    Help ...this is a critical issue.
    jawsurgeon

    Hi Jawsurgeon,
    According to the description, the AutoExpand feature provied by comboBox didn't work after you close the database.
    Please first check the AutoExpand property is true. And here is a sample database, you can download it from link below:
    ComboBoxAutoExpand
    Also please check whether the KB below is helpful:
    The AutoExpand property may not work when ANSI-92 syntax is enabled and the Combo Box RowSource does not use DISTINCT values
    If it still didn't work, I suggest that you repair the Access to see whether the issue was fxied.

    If you don't have a query bdoc and the business query that joins both 2 tables already, then please crate one.

    3 - Set a request/session attribute of that list of objects
    4 - Forward to JSP
    5 - In JSP, create a <select> box, and then use a <c:forEach> loop to generate <option> tags from the list.
