  • Ensure that all database components/objects provided by Oracle are VALID

    Hi Guys
    need some clarification concern the below point from -> 1503653.1
    Ensure that all database components/objects provided by Oracle are VALID in the source database prior to starting the upgrade.
    Ensure that you do not have duplicate objects in the SYS and SYSTEM schema.
    Question 1:
    what do you really mean by all the database components/ objects provided by oracle are Valid?
    does the below object consider an Oracle object? I got to know this objects is invalid after  after running -> dbupgdiag.sql
    SQLTXADMIN   SYNONYM        1
    Question 2:
    if my user application objects is invalid? Can i still be able to forward with the upgrade?
    It seem that the main concern is those ORACLE's component/ objects have to be VALID.

    hi all,
    want to add on.
    does ORACLE's component means objects own by SYS and SYSTEM?
    like the below objects that is spool out by the script  -> dbupgdiag.sql
    that it is in invalid status.
    SYS          USER_AUDIT_TRAIL                         VIEW
    SYS          DBA_AUDIT_SESSION                      VIEW
    SYS          USER_AUDIT_SESSION                    VIEW
    SYS          DBA_AUDIT_STATEMENT                 VIEW
    SYS          DBA_COMMON_AUDIT_TRAIL          VIEW

  • Which are Oracle database components that Siebel need?

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm a beginner about Siebel application. I will install Oracle database software but Installation guide cannot be found about Oracle database components.
    Please suggest about this.
    Thanks,
    Hiko

    Hi,
    If your question is related with the installation of Oracle database, then you can find the step by step installation from the link below:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/documentation/index.html
    In addition, if you're new to Siebel Applications then you better download the documentation library about Siebel Applications:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/siebel.html
    After you check the documentation, if you have questions, I'd like to help.

  • How to reinstall the database components of BI Publisher (11.1.1.5)

    Hi,
    We're using BI Publisher 11.1.1.5 installed within an existing Weblogic 10.3.6 instance running on Oracle Linux 5.6.
    We installed it against an existing 10g test database.
    We decided to refresh the database from the production system and we had to rebuild the test db from scratch, meaning we lost all BIP components installed in it.
    We re-ran the BIP RCU to create the schemas but we can't see how we can reinstall the other required BIP database components without doing a full deinstall and then install of everything.
    The other required db components are such things as the bipcatalog java classes. These are not installed by the RCU from what it seems.
    We have another test database with the BIP components in it and I can see them there so we could export/import them if necessary, but I thought there must be a way to use an assistant or something to do it.
    Any ideas how to go about reinstalling just the db objects?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I have found out what it was that needed loading into the database, it wasn't BI Publisher specific after all. It is the database callout utility and JPublisher classes, which are used when calling out to invoke web services. They're loaded using loadjava command into the database.

  • Database componentes required/excluded for RMAN and Grid control repository

    I'm planning creation of a centralized 10gR2 RMAN repository for my production/dev environment, and needed a basic, barebones database. We may also use that same database as a repository for 10g OEM Grid Control in the future, so I wanted to ensure I was prepared for that.
    None of the documentation says anything about particular required components for RMAN, only that a database is needed. So am I allowed to deselect all items from the following DBCA list? I didn't expect any problems with the optional components, but wanted to make sure that RMAN or Grid control would function, were I to disable Oracle JVM or XML DB. My standard loadout (for better or worse) is to include everything in my production/dev databases, and I didn't want that to be the case with this one.
    Database Components:
    Oracle Data Mining
    Oracle Text
    Oracle OLAP

    Standard Database Components:
    Oracle JVM
    Oracle XML DB
    Oracle Intermedia

    Thanks. For that matter, do DBA's in the general population install those standard oracle components? I have them there in my default installs just because of the message 'Oracle recommends you have these installed.' in the DBCA screen.

  • How to know what database components have been installed on my database?

    How to know what database components that have been installed on my database using SQL*PLUS tool? (10g 10.2.0)

  • Adding a database to the Oracle Restart Configuration

    Hi,
    I have:
    - 2 nodes - Linux RHEL 5
    - Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.1
    - Database Standard Edition 11.2.0.1 + RAC
    - All database files on ASM (integrated with GI), software on local storage
    I manually created a clustered database and I am currently trying to add it the Oracle Restart Configuration. The first step is to create a cluster resource for the database using the 'srvctl add database' command. In the documentation I found [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10595/restart005.htm]
    Important:When you manually add a database to the Oracle Restart configuration, you must also add the Oracle grid infrastructure software owner as a member of the OSDBA group of that database. This is because the grid infrastructure components must be able to connect to the database as SYSDBA to start and stop the database.
    For example, if the host user who installed the grid infrastructure home is named grid and the OSDBA group of the new database is named dba, then user grid must be a member of the dba group.>
    In my test system I created the resource without adding the grid user to the OSDBA group of the database and all work fine (at least I don't see any problem). The database is correctly started every time the system starts.
    My question is why it is necessary to add the grid user to the osdba group?
    Regards,
    Tim

    Thanks for the reply.
    It's not so obvious for me. If it was written "...you should...", than it could be treated as recommended. I see "...you MUST also add..." and that for me means it's obligatory.
    When you create a database with DBCA, the grid user is not added to the OSDBA group of the database. I am trying to figure out why.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Clarification on Prerequisite components for Oracle IDM 11gR2PS2

    I am new to Oracle Fusion Middleware. However, I am familiar with IDM concepts of a different vendor.
    I started with installation documentation and would like to have clarification on IDM components (Includes OAM, OAAM, OIM, OSTS, OES, OIN, OUD, OIF, ESSO, OIC, OPAM). While referring "Oracle Identity and Access Management 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.x) Certification Matrix", first section describes system requirements which tells us about supported  "Processor type, OS Version, OS 32/64 Bit, Database" etc for 11gR2PS2 (11.1.2.2.0). "ID&Access" tab tells about LDAP supported for specific component(s).
    Notes -
    "Some Oracle Identity and Access Management components require an Oracle Database. Ensure that you have an Oracle Database installed on your system before installing Oracle Identity and Access Management. The database must be up and running to install the relevant Oracle Identity and Access Management component. The database does not have to be on the same system where you are installing the Oracle Identity and Access Management component."
    I am aware of the fact that configuration will be difficult in these type of architecture I mention below and it is not recommended. Moreover, I will not be able to use RCU. Let's ignore the configuration part for a while.
    As mentioned above, when I went through first section it says, database supported for Identity Management 11gR2PS2 (11.1.2.2.0) is "Oracle Database". Whereas in the section which specifies about the supported LDAP type, specification are as below -
    (for ease of understanding I have just take two components from the IDM suite).
    OAM - Oracle Internet Directory
            - Oracle Virtual Directory
            - Microsoft Active Directory 2008,
            - Novell eDirectory 8.8,
            - IBM Tivoly Directory Server 6.3
            - And as per list...
    Whereas, OIM Server supports,
    OIM - Oracle Internet Directory,
           - Oracle unified Directory,
           - Microsoft Active Directory 2008
    However, I do not find Novell eDirectory or IBM Tivoli Directory server in the LDAP supported list for OIM Server.
    My Question is,
    In the list of supported database, it has been listed as "Oracle Database" everywhere. Whereas support  for LDAP type we have option(s) from different vendors. Does this mean that if I plan to use LDAP something other than Oracle Internet Directory / Oracle unified Directory / Oracle Virtual Directory, my database should be 'Oracle Database' only ?
    Scenario 1 - I want to use OAM server and since OAM supports LDAP from Microsoft, IBM, Novell.
    Can I go for IBM Tivoli Directory Server as LDAP type and IBM DB2 as database type ?
                                                    or
    IBM DB2 as database type and Oracle Internet Directory / Oracle Unified Directory ?
                                                    or
    (If deploying on Windows system) Microsoft SQL server as database type and Microsoft Active Directory 2008 as LDAP type ?
    Or is it Mandate that my database should be "Oracle Database" irrespective of LDAP (IBM TDS / Microsoft Active Directory / Novell eDirectory) I select.
    Scenario 2 - I want to use OIM server and apart from Oracle Internet Direcotry / Oracle Unified Directory it only supports Microsoft Active Directory 2008 as per list.
    Does this mean that if I use 'OIM Server' component of Oracle IDM 11gR2PS2 (11.1.2.2.0),
    My database will be 'Oracle Database' and as a option for LDAP I have Microsoft Active Direcotry 2008 ? Yes, We have Oracle Unified Directory if we don't opt for Microsoft Active Directory.
                                                                        or
    If I plan to use Microsoft Active Directory 2008 as my LDAP can I use Microsoft SQL server as database ? Or Should I use "Oracle Database" only ?
    And, the OIM components doesn't support IBM's DB2 or IBM's Directory server / Novell eDirectory. ?

    Any OIM experts, can you guys help!!

    Nikki,
    Check alert<SID>.log file for more details about the error.
    It looks like that the source database was not cleanly shutdown before copying the files to the target node. Please do the following and check then:
    SQL> connect / as sysdba
    SQL> startup mount;
    SQL> recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
    -- type CANCEL
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs; If the above does not help, then shutdown the source database normally (make sure it is down), re-copy the files and start the cloning process again.

    DATABASE RESOURCE MANAGER ( ORACLE 8I NEW FEATURE )
    ===================================================
    SCOPE
    8i~10g Standard Edition 에서는 Database Resource Manager 를 지원하지 않는다.
    Explanation
    Database Resource Manager란 OS에서 제공하는 자원 (예 : CPU 자원 )에 대해 DB
    차원에서 계획을 세워, 세부 관리를 할 수 있도록 해 주는 서비스이다.
    예를 들어 주간에 batch 작업을 처리하더라도, OLTP 업무에는 지장을 주지 않아야
    할 경우 batch 작업에 CPU 자원을 적게 할당해 주는 것이 바람직 하며, Resource
    Manager를 활용하여 CPU 자원을 batch 작업과 OLTP 업무에 서로 다르게 할당해 줄
    수 있다. ( Oracle 8.1.6 까지는 Resouurce Manager에서 CPU 자원에 대해서만
    관리만 가능하다 )
    1. 용어
    1) Resource Consumer Group
    사용자 session들의 집합. Resource에 대한 요구사항에 따라 나뉘어진 그룹.
    2) Resource Plan
         Consumer Group에 자원을 할당 해 주기 위한 resource plan directive들을
    포함.
    3) Resource Allocation Method
         Resource Manager에서 자원을 할당해 주는 방법/정책.
    4) Resource Plan Directive
         Resource Plan에 대해 자원을 할당해 주는 세부 내역.
    2. Resource Consumer Group
    * 기본 group
         [ 사용자가 삭제, 수정할 수 없는 group ]
         OTHER_GROUPS : active plan schema에 속하지 않는 consumer group의 모든
    session
         DEFAULT_CONSUMER_GROUP : consumer group을 지정하지 않은 모든
    session.(default)
         [ 기본적으로 제공되나 사용자가 삭제하거나 변경할 수 있는 group ]
         SYS_GROUP : SYSTEM_PLAN에 대한 high priority consumer group
    SYSTEM, SYS user에 할당한다.
         LOW_GROUP : SYSTEM_PLAN에 대한 low priority consumer group
    3. Resource Plan
         Consumer group에 속하는 session들은 해당 group에 대한 resource plan에
    따라 자원 할당이 결정되며, 자원 할당에 대한 세부 사항은 resource plan에
    대한 resource plan directive에서 지정된다.
         Resource plan은 subplan을 둘 수 있다.
    4. Resource Allocation Method
         Round-robin Method : Consumer group 내에서 session들에 대한 CPU 할당
         Emphasis Method : Consumer group에 할당되는 CPU
         Absolute Method : Parallel degree 한계 ( 예 : Parallel Query에서의
    degree )
    5. Resource Plan Directive
         Resource Plan Directive에 지정된 내용들은 resource plan에 따라
    consumer group에 자원을 할당할 때 반영된다.
    6. 구현 예제
         MYDB PLAN +-> MAILDB PLAN +-> POSTMAN GROUP (40% Level 1)
         | (30% Level 1) |
         | +-> USERS GROUP (80% Level 2)
         | |
         | +-> MAILMAINT GROUP (20% Level 2)
         | |
         | +-> OTHER GROUP (100% Level 3)
         |
         +-> BUGDB PLAN  +-> ONLINE GROUP (80% Level 1)
         (70% Level 1) |
         +-> BATCH GROUP (20% Level 1)
         |
         +-> BUGMAINT GROUP (100% Level 2)
         |
         +-> OTHER GROUP (100% Level 3)
         위 예에서 MYDB PLAN에는 2개의 subplan ( MAILDB PLAN, BUGDB PLAN )이
         있으며 각각 30%와 70%의 CPU 자원을 할당하였다.
         Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 는 우선순위 레벨을 의미하며, 하나의
         resource plan에서 동일한 level의 합이 100%를 넘지 못한다.
         ( Level 은 1부터 8까지 지정할 수 있으며 level 1이 가장 우선순위가
         높으며 level 8이 가장 우선순위가 낮다 )
         예를 들어 전체 CPU 자원의 70%를 할당 받은 BUGDB PLAN은 다시
         ONLINE GROUP과 BATCH GROUP을 두고 있는데, 이 둘의 Level이 모두 1이며
         두개의 percentage의 합이 100%이다. 하지만, 즉, level 1인 ONLINE GROUP
    에 90%를 할당하였다면, level 1인 BATCH GROUP에는 10% 이상을 할당할 수
    없다.

    7. CONSUMER GROUP에 사용자나 세션을 할당하는 방법
         먼저 인스턴스에서 사용할 TOP Level resource plan 을 지정한다.
    initSID.ora에 RESOURCE_MANAGER_PLAN = MRDB_PLAN 지정이나 아래와 같이
    session level에 ALTER SYSTEM command를 사용하여 지정한다.
         ALTER SYSTEM SET RESOURCE_MANAGER_PLAN = MYDB_PLAN;
         그리고 SCOTT 계정에 BUG_ONLINE_GROUP과 BUB_BATCH_GROUP 에 속할 수 있는
    권한을 부여
    DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER_PRIVS.GRANT_SWITCH_CONSUMER_GROUP ('SCOTT',
    'BUG_ONLINE_GROUP', TRUE);
         DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER_PRIVS.GRANT_SWITCH_CONSUMER_GROUP ('SCOTT',
    'BUG_BATCH_GROUP', TRUE);
         * DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.SET_INITIAL_CONSUMER_GROUP( user in
    varchar2, consumer_group in varchar2);
         예)
         DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.SET_INITIAL_CONSUMER_GROUP('SCOTT',
    'BUG_ONLINE_GROUP');
         SCOTT 계정을 BUG_BATCH_GROUP에 할당
         * DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.SWITCH_CONSUMER_GROUP_FOR_SESS (
                             session_id IN NUMBER,
                             session_serial IN NUMBER,
                             consumer_group IN VARCHAR2);
         예)
         DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.SWITCH_CONSUMER_GROUP_FOR_SESS( 11, 2,
    'BUG_ONLINE_GROUP');
         * DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.SWITCH_CONSUMER_GROUP_FOR_USER (
                             user IN VARCHAR2,
                             consumer_group IN VARCHAR2);
         예)
         DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.SWITCH_CONSUMER_GROUP_FOR_USER('SCOTT',
    'BUG_BATCH_GROUP');

    user1 is the schema present in DB1
    user2 is the schema present in DB2. I just have a DB link
    as below:
    create database link link_to_DB2 connect to user2 identified by user2 using 'DB2';---Connects from user1 of DB1 to user2 of DB2.
    Requirement is as below:
    CPU for DB2 - 25%
    Out of above 25%, CPU for user2 - 70%
    CPU for user1 30% -- whenever it conncts using the link)

  • Database Error: DBD::Oracle::db do failed: ORA-04030: out of process memory

    Hi
    I have a stored procedure that uses the XMLQuery function (SELECT XMLQuery( '......' RETURNING CONTENT) FROM dual; ) to extract data from 3 different tables and store the xml file in XML DB. This store procedure was running fine for a long time until 2 weeks ago where I started seeing the following error:
    Database Error: DBD::Oracle::db do failed: ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 92 bytes (koh dur heap d,qmxtkWriteXobToOpn:heap)
    Currently I have 16,000 records. I am not sure what is going on, the size of the previous successful output xml file is about 2M. I also noticed when the stored procedure runs with 3G of system memory available, it basically used up all the memory and cpu time. The store proc consistently dies after 3.5 hour and spits out the ORA-04030 out of process memory error.
    Does anyone have any suggestion what to look for or what parameters I need to set? Thanks

    Unless your database is strictly a DSS-type of database, your AWR report exposes loads of issues with it. And I think none of the time during the AWR window was spent on database. Look at the DB time (with all those multi cores) compared with the elapsed time of the AWR.
    As you are on 11g, why not make use of MEMORY_TARGET (a single parameter to manage both SGA and PGA)? If you are already on it, ignore this as I can't see it anywhere. If not, get rid of SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET and replace it with a single MEMORY_TARGET parameter. However you may have a minimum threshold set for different SGA pools so that they won't shrink beyond that point.
    Having said that, setting MEMORY_TARGET is not a guarantee to avoid ORA-4030. Just a single bad PL/SQL code could go and exploit the untunable part of your process memory and even go and blow up the physical memory. If you are using FORALL and BULK load, see if you can cut it down into few chunks rather than running as a single process.
    What does your V$PGASTAT say?
