Database Connection Error: '42S02..... in Crystal Reports XI Developer
I get the above error within CR XI Developer when I try to connect an ODBC link to a Visual FoxPro database (.DBC).
The full messsage is:
Database Connection Error: '42S02:[Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver] Not a table. [Database Vender code: 123]'
This is a headache and any assistance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Bob,
First you should go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
Download SP5 and then test again. If it's still an issue we can at least escalate the problem. CR Xi is past it's supported life cycle meaning no patches will be released.
Have you tried using any other database connection methods to see if those work? May be an issue with the ODBC driver. Try downloading the latest MDAC from microsoft also.
Thank you
Don

Database connection not working in Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0
Hello All,
We have several hunderd reports that were created in CR 8.5. We are moving to a new Java environemnt and we are also considering using BIRT.However to save development time and effort we are considering using the CR for Eclipse 2.0. For a proof of concept, we loaded several of our 8.5 reports into Crystal reports XI, saved them, and then loaded them into our CR for eclipse design environment.
These reports were built from the values returned from a store procedure.. When we try to execute the reports from within Eclipse, we get Error finding JNDI name (xxxx). We have created the appropriate datasource (to Sybase 12.5.4), and the schema is viewable in the db explorer. However when we associate the connection to this datasource, the connection no longer appears in the field explorer and no data is returned upon previewing the report.
The original reports used ODBC to access the database. Is there anyway to easily convert these reports to using the Sybase JDBC datasource? Also in the DB explorer, the SPs are only showing the SP parameters, not the return values, so we are unable to easily drag the return fields onto the report to reset the links.
Thanks in advance
Edited by: Michael Knight on Oct 7, 2009 1:46 PMMichael,
We had a similar situation but from my reseach the output from the stored procs cannot be viewed in the report designer in Eclipse. So we had to design the reports using the Crystal Reports Devloper application (the stand-alone version, not the Eclipse editor). The reports were designed w/an ODBC datasource. In order to get that working we had to create a JNDI JDBC datasource connection w/the exact same name as the ODBC datasource and that works. For example, the ODBC datasource was named OP01DSDB01.WORLD so we just created a JNDI datasource w/that exact same name (no jdbc/OP01DSDB01.WORLD just OP01DSDB01.WORLD). I'm not sure if there is a workaround for any of this but this was the easiest way to get them working.
I know this isn't the ideal situation, but that was the easiest way to get things working. -
Database Connection error in Crystal Reports using SAP BW system
Hi,
While using Crystal Reports in trying to build a report on the SAP Query in SAP/BW System using the MDX driver, I am able to get the structure of the query fields into the report but on the other hand while trying to refresh the report for data I am getting the error message u201C Failed to connect to the databaseu201D . This database connection error occurs despite the fact that the SAP server authentication details being entered on Refreshing the report is correct.
What could be the possible reason? Any guess...
Thanks,
AmoghHi,
Yes, I am using the MDX driver.
Is there any pre-requisites of importing certain ABAP transports into SAP Server since I haven't done any? Please recommend.
Thanks,
Amogh -
Database Connection Error:BAPI Error #0
I have a problem when I preview a report in Crystal Reports 2008 using BW MDX Query I had recieved the following messages:
1.Failed to retrieve data from database
and then when I click ok
2.Database Connection Error:BAPI Error #0
Error occurred when starting the parser:timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL'ThSAPCMRCV'
I copied the query of crystal report and I execute it inside the transaction of mdxtest
SELECT NON EMPTY EXCEPT([0CALMONTH].MEMBERS, {[0CALMONTH].[All]}) ON ROWS FROM [USD_SD_C0/RPT_1] SAP VARIABLES [!V000001] INCLUDING [0CALMONTH].[200401]
I found the debugger had stopped in the line Break when I click on F8
I recieve the following error
Error occurred when starting the parser: timeout
during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
Please anybody can help meDear Ingo
I had read this note
I applied the following:
1.I didn't found the lrfc32.dll in the windows/system32 in my BW server so I asked my basis administrator to upgrade the kernel
2.after this step I didn't find it again so I had copied the file from the new kernel and copied it to system32 and sysWow
3.I register successfuly the lrfc32.dll using the commanf regsvr c:/windows/system32/lfrc32.dll
(note: this step didn't succeed until I had installed SAP GUI in BW server because as I observed that there is a need for C++ compiler which is installed by default when you install GUI)
after all of this I cannot run any crystal report based on any BW query
So Please anyboday can help -
Hello,
We have crystal reports published on the BOBJ system and the datasource is SAP BI system . The reports were working fine
untill last monday when they started giving error " Database Connection Error " .
This is what happening, when we run the crystal report , it will come up with a pop up for selection and upon giving the selection and click on execute , it is giving error.
To start we have this issue in BOBJ dev system , but now we have the same issue in QA and Prod as well. I suspected
this has to do with license keys, but my BOBJ Admin *** basis team thinks otherwise.
I couldnt think of would have gone wrong or missing . Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ravi.Ingo,
I tested the reports using the crystal designer, and they ran fine without issues . The same report when we run on BOBJ/infoview it is giving data base connection error. The same is happening across all the 3 systems( Dev, QA and Prod ).
I also tested the verify database on the crystal designer and it say " data is up to date".
As the client level integration seems to be working fine, I'm thinking there is a issue with server level integration.
Can you through some insight into the checks we can do get to the bottom?
Thanks,
Raju. -

Hi,
This is Sathish, I am trying to create a report and retrieve data through stored procedure using ODBC Connection. When connecting to the Stored Procedure it is showing Database Connection Error 42000:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for oracle] Syntax error or access violation' Error.
CRXI R2, Oracle 9i.
What do i do to solve this issue.
Regards,
SathishHi Satish
It could be an issue with the driver.
You can try with the OLEDB n Oracle native connection to test if the issue persists.
Also you can refer to the [Troubleshooting Database Connectivity for Crystal Reports|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d05b3bb7-0f28-2c10-4ea3-84dbdc4e414e&overridelayout=true]
Hope this helps!!

Failing to connect to Oracle from Crystal Reports
We have a client attempting to connect to 10g using crystal reports. They are getting ora-08001 as an error reported to them. Any ideas what could be causing this?
I don't know Crystal Reports and what it sends to and requests from the database, but that's the formal description of this error:
Error: ORA 8001
Text: maximum number of sequences per session exceeded
Cause: An operation requested a resource that was unavailable.
The maximum number of user sequences per session is specified by the
initialization parameter DC_SEQUENCES.
When this maximum is reached, no more requests are processed.
Action: Try the operation again in a few minutes.
If this error occurs often, shut down Oracle, increase the
DC_SEQUENCES parameter in the initialization parameter file, and
restart Oracle. -
Hi All,
I have one client who is using VPN to login into the system.I have to devlope some crystal report .
I have installed Business Object Edge series, Crystal Report 2008, Integration kit. and connected successfully.
when i try to run the report it shows the error
"Database Connected Error : Bapi Error #:0"
"Error Occured When Starting Parser : Timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'thSAPCMRCV".
Regards,
Komik ShahHi
The usual cause for this error is that the MDX parser in SAP is failing.
If you run MDXTest do you get similar problems? Generally this can be fixed by having your BASIS people recreate the MDX parser.
Hope this helps!!!

Failed to open connection error message on Crystal Server
I have recently upgraded my desktop to Windows 7. Crystal Reports XI Developer works fine on this new system as it did on my earlier Vista system. I can create and run reports with no problems on each of these system using Developer.
The problem I am experiencing is this: when I publish, using the Publishing Wizard, a report on my Crystal Server using my Windows 7 system, the report does not work. Instead, the error message: 'Failed to open connection' appears from Crystal Report Viewer.
If I open the same report using my Developer license on my old Vista machine and then re-save it, I can publish it to my CR Server and it runs successfully.
ODBC is used on all systems and all appear to be 32 bit versions, albeit different version numbers.
This problem can be repeated with any of the many reports currently in use.HI Don,
Let's see if I understand what you're saying:
When a report is created on a legacy desktop in CR Developer, the ODBC connection on that computer works with direct access to the SQL Server 2008 on my Windows Server 2003 R2 system. I can then also publish these using the Publishing Wizard to the CRS these same reports and they run successfully; no connection issues, works great.
However, when a report is created on my 64 bit Windows 7 desktop in CR Developer, the ODBC connection on that computer also works well with direct access to the SQL Server 2008 on my Windows Server 2003 R2 system. BUT, when I then publish these using the Publishing Wizard to the CRS these same reports do NOT successfully connect to the database and that is when I get the Crystal Viewer message about the connection failed.
So, I would assume then that Crystal Server on my Windows Server 2003 system is similar enough to older MDAC criteria on legacy systems but different enough my Win7 desktop to introduce the problem even though Developer on that same Win7 system works fine directly against the SQL DB.
If this is all correct, then I either need a legacy MDAC to work on my Win7 system, or an updated MDAC\WDAC for Crystal Server to use.
By the way, I'm using ODBC and here are some details from the Component Checker:
Server:
MDAC 2.8 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 SP2
Desktops:
MDAC 2.8 SP1 on Windows XP SP3 - on an XP machine that works fine
UNKNOWN on Vista (but it works fine with CRS)
UNKNOWN on Windows 7 - (doesn't work with CRS - must be a different UNKNOWN than on Vista)
Thanks for your assistance as this is rather important -
Bob. -
Unexpected database connection error
I am encountering an error only in the development environment on an existing application. We have six reports that can be printed through our application, two of which I can't print and the other four I can on my development machine. This problem does not show up on other development machines even though our application code is sync-ed up using source control. This problem also does not show up in testing or production, just on my machine.
The only thing I can think of is that I had added a field to the Java object that the report pulls it's data from and I poked around a bit before reading about the "Verify database" option to get the new field to show up in the crystal reports editing section for that report. Maybe I clicked on something that broke the connection?
Thanks in advance for your help.
When I try to print (to pdf) from the application I get the following error:

... 46 moreOkay, so that wasn't the solution. It actually looks like I managed to taff up some of the data in my development database for this one group in my application. I can print the report for other groups, but not this one. Unfortunately I usually use this one group to manually test things, which is why I saw the problem. When I manually tested other groups it worked fine. This also explains why we don't see the problem in the testing or production branches: they all have their won databases. Why I am getting an "Unexpected database connection error" is beyond me, but the problem is clearly in the data and not in the configuration. I restored my development database from a backup that is a few weeks old and everything is perfect.
I reselected the plugin manifest builder and the reports still work for the other groups in the application.
Thanks for your help! -

SonHello Son,
please use this code below to get a list of used database fields in a report :

Database Connection Error: Cannot obtain error message from the server
I have a SQL statement that wants to add a temp table to the database. The SQL statement works fine but when I try to add it via 'Add Command' feature in Crystal XI R2, I get the following error message:
Database Connection Error: Cannot obtain error message from the server
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Zack H.Hi Raghavendra,
I am using this in the 'Add Command' feature but I get the error message displayed in the subject line:
CREATE TABLE #TibetanYaks(
YakID char(4),
YakName char(20) )
INSERT INTO #TibetanYaks (YakID, YakName)
SELECT LastName, FirstName
FROM Employee
WHERE EmployeeID between '2000' and '3000'
I haven't tried to add this as a stored procedure but I imagine it will work as I have no problems yet with stored procedures. I simply want to be able to use temporary tables for the sole purpose of that session and not creating anything static in the database.
By the way, even though I get the error message, when I look on the backend database, I see that the temporary table was successfully created...its just not brought across correctly in Crystal.
Any ideas?

OBIEE 11g database connection error after deploying to server.
Hi,
I deployed RPD to obiee 11g server and when I run a report it is giving database connectivity error. In 10g we just specify OLAP_DSN, OLAP_USER and same in connection pool with database password. I did the same in 11g as well but it's not working.
Is there any other place I need to specify database connection detail?
Thanks
