Database connection help

Question

I have a dsn-less connection to my access database, and I'm
having many errors due to internet Explorer security settings. I
wondering if I use a System DSN if my problems will go away. How do
i convert my code to use a system DSN?

The basics of AJAX are not that difficult if you understand
client side JS and a little server side scripting. There's plenty
of tutorials out there on the web. But you need to know when it is
advantageous to use it. IMO, the use of AJAX should result in a net
reduction in network traffic. I've seen sites where AJAX seemed to
be used simply for the sake of using AJAX, with no benefit to the
visitor.
It seems to me that you have a few options
1) Just post the page back to itself to retrieve the
descriptions after the part number is selected. Unless the visitor
is going to be interacting a lot with this page before moving on
(we don't know the workflow involved here) that might make the most
sense. Is the page weight very heavy that you want to avoid this?
2) Retrieve all descriptions into an array when the page
loads, then use client side JS to populate the field. If you don't
have a lot of possible values, this might make the most sense.
3) Use AJAX. For what you want, it doesn't need to be
elaborate or rely on any framework so it should be lightweight.
