Database Connection loosing password

Hi there,
have HFR documents with a connection to Essbase 9.3
Problem is the database connection seems to loose the password everytime I log off.
After relogin the connection fails and I have to reenter the password.
When I reenter the password for the connection it works perfect and is retrieving the data from essbase into the report.
Also tried the approch to rebuild the connection but did not help.
In essbase the authentification type is external in an AD.
The essbase application is NOT registered in Shared Service.
Is this the reason? From where is the Userid/password gets passed through?

JDev TP4 - Test Database Connection without password

Hi,
I create a new database connection for an application,
if I specify that password is not saved and press Test Connection button with an empty password, the "connection information" dialog for username and password is displayed behind the "connecting" dialog. It is not possible to switch to "connection information" dialog.
Although there is a Cancel button on the "connecting" dialog, it is also not possible to press it. To close JDeveloper, it is killed from Task Manager.
If Save Password on the create database connection is checked and an empty password is given pressing Test Connection button, "Test failed: Password cannot be null or empty" error message is given.
Without testing the connection, I can save the connection in both situations.

B1iSN 9.0 Installation Failed. Database connection Failed: Password Validation failed

Hello All:
Installing a new copy of B1iSN 9.0 PL05. And having this problem that I can't seem to find any mentioning.
SQL connection parameter validate the password ok and this is almost immediately after I press install at the final step. When it give you the summary before installation happens.
A bit of background this is on a server where system requires very long and complex password. The password that I use to log on to the window environment is 17 characters long. But I have tried to use the long password for both B1iadmin default password as well as creating a SQL user with long password. Nothing seem to work.
Any direction would be greatly appreciate it!

I had in 8.82 a bug with the password and somes special characters ('@').
Try to use only a-z, A-Z and numbers.
You should create a support message for this.

Database connection loosed over night

I am testing a J2EE application on Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.2 (build b06-fcs).
The application uses JNDI, which uses a connection pool to access a MySQL database. The deployment of the applications .ear file works fine, and the connection of the bean works correctly the rest of the day. But on the next day when I try to use the bean from the client application, I get a Local Transport Exception:

Appserver pools DB connections and your connection expires over night. You should try setting "Connection Validation" checkbox and validate it against some existing table in your DB, see:

If this doesn't help you might want to try changing your application to reconnect upon failure. Last thing to try would be plugging in different mysql JDBC driver.

Using SSO username/password in java portlet for Database Connection

We implemented java portlet with environment Oracle Application server 10.1.2 and Portal 10.1.4
At present we are picking the database username and password and connect string in properties and our
java class is reading the properties file and connecting to database to fetch the records.
Our idea is to not to pick the username/password and connect string from the properties file or
not to configure the datasource in data_source.xml.
Our Requirement is who ever login to the Portal(SSO) our java class should pick the sso username/password and
connect to database to fetch the record(s).
Because our database users are one to one mapped to sso user(s) of portal.
We request anyone to guide us how can we do it or suggest any suitable solution for our requirement.

I think this is a no-go, since you cannot retrieve a cleartext password from the OID if I'm correct.

I run Dev 6i on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit,the forms are working fine after connection to the database but the reports continue to request for username, password and database connection string every time i try to open a report.

I receive REP-0501: Unable to connect to specified database. I run developer 6i application on windows 2008 r2. I have applied the nn60.dll and nnb60.dll files to the \BIN directory. The forms are working fine. The reports will only display after the correct user id (username, password and database connection string) is supplied. This is happening to all attempts to open already complied form. Pls, help.

If you are connecting to an Oracle 11g database, remember that by default the passwords are case sensitive. To disable that, run
ALTER SYSTEM SET SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;

Set password for database connection at runtime

Hi there,
is it possible to set the password and/or the user for the database connection at runtime.
The use case is to read the values from a file and decrypt them, and the to establish the conenction. So that i don't habe to redeploy everything if there is a change.

The use case is, that there is a file with an encrypted password. This should be decrypted and then be used for the connection. So when this encrypted passowrd changes, i don't want to edit and deploay the app once again. Instead the new encrypted password should be decrypted via code an then be used.

Dynamic Parameter Prompting for Database Connection Password

I've been finding recently that reports using dynamic parameters and published into Crystal Server prompt for the database connection password when the dynamic parameter is accessed. Thing is, this only started happening recently for new and already existing reports with dynamic parameters and I don't know why. In Crystal Reports the dynamic parameter can be accessed without a database connection prompt being displayed but not after publishing. (Maybe there's a problem with the Publishing Wizard?) Static parameters work just fine just as they always have, but I'm a bit mystified by the fact that dynamic parameters used to work (without prompting) but now they don't. Any advice or opinion would be much appreciated.

from the CMC you have to set the default connection or wat connection should this report use,
go to this report in CMC, click process tab, and check the connection

Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database invalid username/password

Ou Requirement is we want to connect to Oracle Applications using discoverer plus and discoverer viewer.
Application Server used : 10.1.2.0.2
Oracle Applications : R12 RUP4
We have installed application server 10g with OID and when we try to connect to oracle applications we are getting
A connection error has occurred.
- Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password.

I think better to check with your sysadmin or DBA on this, I had the same isuse before but Apps 11i with Discoverer, I talked to ERP sysadmin and worked fine.
Since applications userid cannot talk with Discoverer schema (eul10_us) and it should directly talk with APPS user and then APPS user can talk with Discoverer user.
To the best of my knowledge I provided.

Dynamic Parameter Prompting for Database Connection Password When schedulin

I'm having problems with Dynamic Parameters when I try to schedule a report in InfoView.
I create the report in Crystal Reports XI and publish it to the Crystal Server. I go into CMC and under Process:Database set the correct data source and enter the server, database, user and password.
When the report is run I can choose a dynamic parameter and the reports runs fine - it's when I try to schedule the report and choose the parameter that I am asked to enter the user and password for the database.
If the parameter is static it's fine and I don't get prompted. Because I want the end-users to schedule their own reports I need to have the user and password embedded in the report.
From what I've read in the forums, there seems to be a lot of issues with dynamic parameters and database logons, and no real solutions. But this is just weird that it's only failing when I try to schedule the report!

Issue started on 9/25/2008
Existing BO 11r2 installation including service pack 2
Windows Server 2003 Service pack 2
Existing scheduled reports do not exhibit this behaviour and run correctly.
Add new or update existing report. Log into the CMC as administrator and set process for database and parameters.
Exit CMC
log into Infoview. Click on report and run (as administrator OR as existing user with permissions) NO PROBLEM.
Log into Infoview as Administrator or existing users with permissions) as attempt to schedule report. All reports Any dynamic parameter and request for user name and password opens. Once the correct info is entered the report can be scheduled.
This is a new issue on our installation, we have been running without problems for over a year.
Any help appreciated.

Problem in using context param for storing database connection information

I am new to struts & jsp.I am developing a project in struts.I have 1 jsp page called editProfile.jsp.On submitting this page it will call 1 action class.The action class in turn will call the Plain old java class where I have written the logic for updating User Profile.
I have created context-param in web.xml for database connection information like dbURL , dbUserName , dbPassword , jdbcDriver.Now I want to use these connection information in my Business logic(Plain Old Java Class).As we can use context parameter only in jsp & servlets , I am setting the variables of my business logic class with these context param in jsp itself.
now when I am calling the updateProfile method of Business logic class from Action class it is giving error as all the connection variables which I set in jsp for my business logic class has become null again.
I am not getting.If once I have set those variables how come they are becoming null again???Please help me.Any Help will be highly appreciated.Thanx in advance.

Problem with database connection in Jdev 11

Hello,
my jdev version is 11 and i want do really simple task create new database connection to my oracle db.
I open database navigator and click new connection. i want jdbc connection but after i fill this form i pressed test connection button and get this error msg:
Test failed: 4
i think i have correct information but i tried this, i opened my older jdev 10 and copy jdbc url from my old db connection.
In jdev 11 i checked Enter Custom JDBS Url and pasted url from jdev 10 and i get:
Test failed: 4
What is wrong?

Creating new Data Source Error - Database connection Failed

Successfully installed and configured 11.1.1.3.0. Planning and Essbase dev.
Went to Workspace > Administer > Classing Planning Administration > Manage Data Sources > Create Data Source.
Entered all info about the application database , etc. Getting error "The database connection failed" (I was able to connect with no problem during the install)
SQL server 2005 is on the same physical server.
The diagnostic tool shows database connection passed for planning. A new database was created for the new application.
The server event viewer shows these errors.
"Login failed for user 'xxx-hyperion'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."
Group Policy Error "The client-side extension could not apply computer policy settings for 'Default Domain Policy {xxx}' because it failed with error code '0x80070003 The system cannot find the path specified.' See trace file for more details. "
The Group Policy client-side extension Group Policy Services failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension.
Any help is appreciated.

Datasource for the application.
I have created a sql db for this planning application (my datasource). See my first message for more details.
When you create a new planning application, you need to associate it with a data source. Since this is a new install, I don't have any data sources available yet.
So, "To create, edit or delete data sources, click Manage Data Source."
This page lets you validate your connection to the database and essbase server. My essbase server connection validates! The database connection does not validate after I enter all the relevant information.

JDBC Adapter - Established database connection failed

Hi Guys,
we have installed the JDBC Adapter based on the How To Guide and we checked after the installation the Libaries :Cluster --> Server --> Libraries --> com.sap.aii.af.jmsproviderlib and the box Box "JARs Contained" was filled.
So in my point of view we have done everything right during the installation.
Now the developer tested theJDBC Adapter and he comes back with following Error:
Attempt to establish database connection failed with SQL error com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagementException: Cannot establish connection to URL "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://xxx.x.xx.xxx:1433; databaseName=CZZ03;":ClassNot FoundException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Do you have any ideas?
