Database Control consol(EM)

I am using Oracle 10g Enterprise edition and after installation i create database with the DBCA.When i open database consol the address is http://localhost:1158/em.
Now when i do the export it require host creaditional (username and password) what are this username and password.
Plese tell me.

"localhost" is the hostname that EM happened to get configured with when
you installed the software. That is different from the database which is
the datafiles. You could try reconfiguring EM -- I believe the "emca" command
would be usable on windows.
you could post this query to the "Database - General" or "Enterprise Manager"
forums because your query has nothing to do with Replication.

Remote access database using EM Database Control Console

When I install the Oracle database 10g, it gives me two choices:
1)Using Grid Control for Database Management and
2)Using Database Control for Database Management.
When I select the #2, according to the Guide, I'll be able to manage my database locally. (Assume the database server's IP address is: DB_IP_Address, then I can use: http://DB_IP_Address:5560/em). But wait a minute___
a)What does this "locally" mean? If the Oracle DB is installed in a remote location, and there is no LAN connection to it, can I still access it via the Oracle Enterprise Manager (Database Control Console)? (i.e., via the HTTP protocol)
b)The same question is asked for the iSQL*Plus in regarding to the remote access. I guess the answer to a) above will automatically answer the b) ? (Actually I doubt that I can access remote database using the iSQL*Plus via HTTP protocol).

Hi,
and there is no LAN connection to itWell you'll need some network link in order to connect successfully.
What is meant by locally is that you can only manage databases installed on the local computer.
For example if you installed it on machine "CPTR1", and on another machine "CPTR2", then you can't use http://cptr1:5560/em to manage the databases on "CPTR2. And vice versa.
About iSQL*Plus, in fact, as far as the tns alias is ok from "CPTR1", you can connect to the databases on "CPTR2", "CPTR3", ....

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The goal of the document is to provide the steps to configure the DB Console in an Oracle Failsafe environment.
Please note that the solution offered in this document is not certified by Oracle. It's only provided as a workaround for customers who wish to use this setup for the Database Control Console in a failsafe environment. Support for the procedure outlined in this document will be provided on a 'best efforts' approach.
As an alternative to this approach you can use Grid Control Agents to monitor a database in a failsafe environment. For more details please see:

We assume the following:
- the database binaries are installed on each node on the local disk
- you already have a failsafe group with the database, the listener, disk resource, and virtual
ip/hostname
Note: This is specific for Windows environments using Oracle Failsafe. For setting up the DB Console in Active/Passive clusters on UNIX please use the following note instead:

Solution
1. Drop the DB Control repository and configuration files on the active node:
<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
2. Recreate the DB Control using the virtual hostname:
- in a command window do the following:
set oracle_sid=<your_sid>
set oracle_home=<your_oracle_home>
set oracle_hostname=<virtual_hostname>
cd %oracle_home%\bin
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
-- make sure that the virtual host name was picked up by emca (it will display a summary screen
before continuing)
3. Verify that the DB Console works fine and can be accessed using the virtual host name in the URL
4. Stop the DB Console
5. Create a directory path on the group disk resource similar to your oracle home path on the local disk.
For example:
If the oracle home on the local disk is C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1 and the shared disk is D:
then create the following path: D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1
Copy C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid> and
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
to D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid> and respectively
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
Remember to change the values enclosed in <> with those in your environment.
6. Delete the following directories from the local disk
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid>
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
7. Create NTFS junction points from the local disk to the shared disk (these work like symbolic
links on UNIX) . It is your responsibility to create these.

Important: Please note that this functionality is not certified nor supported by Oracle. Make sure you understand the
implications. Especially don't delete the junction points from Windows Explorer !!
In the end you should have the junction points on the local disk (with the same names as the
original directories) that would point to the directories you copied on the shared disk.
8. Start the DB Console service and verify that everything is still working fine.
9. Stop the DB Console service.
10. Move the Fail Safe group to the 2nd node.
11. Once the database is started, create the DB Console configuration files on the 2nd node:
<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emca -config dbcontrol db
12. Stop the DB Console
13. Delete the created configuration files from the local disk:
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid>
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
14. Create junction points from the local disk to the directories already located on the shared
disk.
15. Start the DB Console service and verify that is working fine.
16. Add the DB Console service as a resource to the fail safe group and put dependencies on the
database and listener services.
17. Perform a fail over and see if everything works fine.

Remote access database using Application Server Control Console

When I install the Oracle Application Server 10g, it gives me a web-based tool, i.e., to use the Application Server Control Console to manager/monitor the server.
Now If the Application Server is installed in a remote location, and there is no LAN connection to it, can I still access it via the Application Server Control Console? (i.e., via the HTTP protocol). (I believe that I can only use the Console to manage the AS which is physically located in the same machine).

Hi Scott!
The ASC will allow you only to manage its own installation. So if you have 10 AS instances you will have 10 ASC's to manage it.
If you want to remotely manage your installations you need the Grid Control.
Otherwise you will need a connection to the machine.
I do not understand the issue about the "no LAN connection"? How do you want to access the machine if there is no network connectivity anyway?

Unfortunatley, it appears oracle isn't running anywhere
The install apps wizard says everything is installed ok, but as I keep mentioning... it appears there are not oracle services running.
Before you create a db, are there any oracle services running?
Doesn't oracle install some web server? Where is it?
Is there some other diagnostic I can run?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled oracle already, to no avail.

Oracle databse control console with Oracle EBS R12.1.1

Can we configure Oracle database control EM console through <ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emca for dbtier of Oracle E-business Suite R12.1.1.
We have database version "Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production".

Post deploy fails on 10.1.3.4. ESB Control console says see DT server logs

Hello,
We have recently upgraded our SOA Suite to 10.1.3.4. I was able to deploy all our ESB web services to the environment successfully. But after deployment, I restarted the J2EE server and after that when I login to ESB Control Console, I get an error in "Services" section as "Unknow Error in ESB. Please see the DT server log for details". I deployed services using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. Could that be a problem? Please assist us as it has brought down our environment for 1 week.
Please note that we had everything working perfect in 10.1.3.3 & dont know what created the problem in 10.1.3.4.

It might be that your esb tables has no data.
You can resolve this problem in the following way.
1. Running irca again. This method has the side effect of losing all metadata (other esb applications) already deployed on the server.
2. Connect to the database as esb user. Run the query "Select count(*) from esb_parameter". This query will return a 0 records found result. Now you have to insert the values into the esb_parameter table again.

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.3.0

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.3.0 is one hour behiend on AIX 5.3.
I have installed the new timezone version 4 already by oracle DST path database is good OEM main page is showing one hour behiend.
I have done every possible effort last thing may be i have to update java home i have 1.4 IBM java on the server.

What is the impact of not patching the JDK on the OMS for 10g Grid Control?
If you do not patch the JDK on the OMS page refreshed times and possibly other times displayed in the console will be incorrect (they will be off by 1 hour) during an affected period.
Oracle strongly recommends that you do patch the OMS JDK but we are not aware of any data corruption in the repository nor of any impact on critical EM functionalities (such as severities, notifications and jobs) when the JDK is not patched.

Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control is not working properly

Hello!
I have a problem with Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, the web console. When I open the browser, instead of showing the login window, it shows the window where three arrows, the database instance, the listener, and the conection, that are red and down.
However they are working correctly, the database is up and working, but the EM doesn't show anything else.
Is there a way to make it work again?

The Enterprise Manager has lost sync with the database.
The only way I know to do this remotely is to tell the OEM to shut down and/or bring up the database - twice. It'll try and fail and perhaps eventually reset it's pointers.
I'd really like Oracle to create a 're-sync to actual state' URL ... there must be an easy way, such as flushing the collected metrics or something.

Database Control always gets "The database status is currently unavailable"

I have two 10.1.0 databases installed on a Windows XP machine. Instance orcl always gets this message. Instance orcltwo does not. If I shut down orcl and then start the web database control page I can select the startup button and it starts up the database and then goes back to the pages that says that the database is not available. The console for that database is running with no errors that I can find. The DBSNMP account is not locked. The SYSMAN account is not locked. There are no errors in any log file that I can find. What am I doing wrong here. The orcltwo instance has no problems at all.

Just to share this experience with everyone. This happened with Grid Control (not sure if it applies to Database Control).
All the targets in EM (except the Agent) showed Down or Unavailable for two weeks. This is how I checked it.
Note that if the Agent is not able to upload Metrics to the repository due to one reason or the other, you will not be able to see the current status.
Assuming your ORACLE_HOME is different from your AGENT_HOME. Check the emagent trace file in the Agent home.
e.g with AGENT home as D:\oracle\agent\
check D:\oracle\agent\sysman\log\emagent.trc to see the latest error message.
Then check the upload directory to see if there are xml files waiting to be uploaded
e.g D:\oracle\agent\sysman\emd\upload
This directory should be clear of .xml file if your metrics loading is working.
From the Agents Monitoring screen in Enterprice Manager (Management System -> Agent), under the Upload session where there is Upload Metric Data button, check for "Last Successful Upload" and "Data Pending Upload " and any error messages. If the Metric upload is not working, the Data Pending uplaod will be more than 0.00MB and the error message link will show you the xml file it is unable to load. Which you will find in my example D:\oracle\agent\sysman\emd\upload
I my example upload file B0002332.xml is the one I found on the error url and when I viewed it in the directory, the structure is different from others. This inability to load it caused all other upload files to be queuing. There was a line in it as
<METRIC_GUID><![CDATA[=3F6739EE03C21CE7CA5E32FD9185]]></METRIC_GUID>
Looking at the structure of other files, I took a guess (not the best , this is a test EM) and changed it to
<METRIC_GUID>80C23F6739EE03C21CE7CA5E32FD9185</METRIC_GUID>
Then all the two weeks 32MB of xml files loaded automatically within seconds. Logoff EM and Login, everything showed the correct status.

Database Control does not load

I have an oracle 10g database up and running but I cant seem to connect via Database Control.
When I try to navigate to http://<hostname>:<port num>/em it goes to a blank web page. If I navigate to http://<hostname>:<port num>/em/console/logon/logon it shows the signin page but refuses to do anything when I ask to login
The one time I got past the logon page, I got an error : "The Enterprise Manager cannot connect to the database instance".
The system said agent connection to instance is unavailable.
I read up on other posts and saw that the password should not have special characters. I have a '#' in my password - could this be the problem? If so, what are the exact steps to change the password. There seemed to be many posts asking to change emoms.properties with the new password but none of them explained what exactly to change
I have another 10g oracle database on another machine whose password has a '$' in it and it gave me no problems.

With Windows Server 2003 I haven't any problems with the configuration of database control over cmd.
Any Ideas?

cmd>set oracle_sid=xxx
cmd>emca (You will get all related keyword of emca)
Firstly you have to check that if you have created your database through DBCA then you have to drop old repository or recreate repository:
To drop (remove) the configuration files and repository for Database Console, run:
cmd>emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
To recreate (remove & create) the configuration files and repository for Database Console, run:
cmd>emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate

EM Database Control 11.1.0.6.0 을 구성하는 도중에 발생하는 repository create error에 관한
원인 및 해결 방법을 제시합니다.
Problem Description
다음은 emca를 구성하여 repository를 구성하려다가 실패하여 다시
drop하고 create 시에 이와 같은 ORA-20001 이라고 하는 SYSMAN user가 이미 존재한다고
하는 에러에 대한 해결방법입니다.
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop 수행 중에 다음과 같이 failed가 발생하고,
구 43: WHERE username = upper('&EM_REPOS_USER') ;
신 43: WHERE username = upper('SYSMAN') ;

위와 같이 drop fail 이후에 emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create 수행 시
ORA-20001: SYSMAN already exists..
ORA-06512: 줄 17에서
이와 같은 에러를 만나서 다시 create가 제대로 되지 않는 경우를 볼 수 있다.
Environment :
아래의 이름과 환경변수는 사용자의 환경에 따라 달라질 수 있습니다.
OS : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32bit windows
컴퓨터이름 : jeher
Database version : 11.1.0.6.0
ORACLE_SID : orcl
ORACLE_HOME : D:\app\jeher\product\11.1.0\db_1
em 에 사용되는 HOSTNAME_SID : jeher_orcl
에러 증상
아래의 log는 실제 emca 수행 시 자세한 log를 확인할 수 있는
D:\app\jeher\cfgtoollogs\emca\orcl\emca_repos_create_2008_03_09_14_39_55.log 의 내용입니다.

Explanation
이러한 에러는 주로 emca command 중에서 emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
을 수행하다가 Service만 정리가 되고, repository가 깨끗하게 정리가 되지 않고
오류가 발생하거나 hang 이 발생하는 경우에 나중에 다시 create 시에 나타나는 에러입니다.
11g emca 수행 시 에러 log는 $ORACLE_BASE\\cfgtoollogs\emca\orcl\ 아래에 생성된 log를 확인합니다.
Solution Description
다음과 같은 명령으로 EM Configuration file들과 repository를 정리할 수 있습니다.

A. Delete DB Control Objects 의 상세 설명은 Manual하게 DB Control을 DELETE하는 절차입니다.
이 부분을 보시면 아주 자세히 설명되어 있습니다.
The procedure is the same for 10g R1, R2 and 11g 11.1.0.6.0.
절차1) Configuration file 정리 작업
A) To delete the configurartion files:
- remove the following directories from your filesystem:
<ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>
예를 들어 D:\app\jeher\product\11.1.0\db_1\JEHER_ORCL 이라는 디렉토리를 제거합니다.
<ORACLE_HOME>/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname>_<sid>
예를 들어 D:\app\jeher\product\11.1.0\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsoleJEHER_ORCL 이라는
디렉토리를 제거합니다.
B) 레지스트리에서 SERVICE 제거 작업.
Note: On Windows you aslo need to delete the DB Console service:
- run regedit
- navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services
- locate the OracleDBConsole<sid> entry and delete it
OracleDBConsoleORCL 이라는 서비스 엔트리를 클릭하고 제거합니다.
Alternatively on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 you can run the following from the command line:
'sc delete <service_name>' where <service_name> is the DB Control service name (typically: OracleDBConsole<sid>)
절차2) EM repository 를 manual 하게 drop하기.
To delete the repository

[참고 사항]
1) DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE; 를 수행 시 이미 mgmt_view가 emca -deconfig 명령에 의해
drop이 되었다면 ORA-1918 ERROR가 발생하는데, 이는 무시합니다.
"ORA-01918: 사용자 'MGMT_VIEW'(이)가 존재하지 않습니다."
2) 참고 명령어
Note: The above(절차2) will completely delete the DB Control repository from the database;
under certain circumstances (e.g. you want to recreate the repository later on)
the following statemnts may be sufficient to remove the repository:
sqlplus "/as sysdba"
a. drop user sysman cascade;
b. drop role MGMT_USER;
c. drop user MGMT_VIEW cascade;
d. drop public synonym MGMT_TARGET_BLACKOUTS;
e. drop public synonym SETEMVIEWUSERCONTEXT;

절차3) EM console HTTP port와 Agent port 설정 해제 작업
Remove the entries for the old dbconsole information from the
$ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini file
제거 작업 단계 중 마지막으로 D:\app\jeher\product\11.1.0\db_1\install\portlist.ini file
내에서 old dbconsole 정보를 제거합니다.
[ Example ]
Ultra Search HTTP 포트 번호 =5620
Enterprise Manager 콘솔 HTTP 포트(orcl) = 1158
Enterprise Manager 에이전트 포트(orcl) = 3938
위와 같이 Enterprise Manager 콘솔 HTTP 포트와 Enterprise Manager 에이전트 포트(orcl)
가 보이는데, 이 line들을 지웁니다.
아래의 절차4) 부터 절차8) 까지는 다시 create해주는 과정과 환경 셋업 작업입니다.
절차4) C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file에서 다음을 추가해 줍니다.
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.10.10 jeher
10.10.10.10 은 내 네트워크 환경 -> 로컬연결영역3(Microsoft Loopback Adapter)
-> 속성(인터넷 프로토콜 TCP/IP)
-> 속성(다음 ip 주소 사용의 IP 주소가 10.10.10.10)
위와 같이 확인하여 얻어질 수 있습니다.
절차5) 다시 emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create 를 수행합니다.
절차6) 레지스트리에 문자열값 oracle_hostname 이 jeher로 되어 있는 지 확인.
절차5 가 성공적으로 수행이 되면 관리도구 -> 서비스에 OracleDBConsoleORCL 이라는
서비스가 다시 생성됩니다.
- run regedit
- navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Oracle/Sysman/OracleDBConsoleORCL
- 문자열값 oracle_hostname : jeher 로 되어 있는지 확인합니다.
절차7) emd.properties 에서 timezone 수정
D:\app\jeher\product\11.1.0\db_1\jeher_orcl\sysman\config 아래에 있는
emd.properties file에서 agent timezone를 Asia/Seoul 로 대소문자를 구분하여 입력합니다.
For example)
omsRecvDir=D:/app/jeher/product/11.1.0/db_1/jeher_orcl/sysman/recv
agentTZRegion=Asia/Seoul
이와 같이 저장하고 나옵니다.
절차8) EM 11g LOGIN 접속 방법.
https://jeher.kr.oracle.com:1158/em 로 접속하면 됩니다.
username : sys
password : oracle
connect as SYSDBA
OC4J 에 설치 시 보안 설정이 되어 있으므로, http 가 아닌 https 로 접속해야 합니다.
11g의 경우, password file이 자동으로 $ORACLE_HOME/dbs (windows 의 경우, $ORACLE_HOME/database) 아래에
생성되므로, 따로 생성이 불필요합니다.
remote_login_passwordfile='EXCLUSIVE'로 자동 setting 되어 있습니다.

I have installed Oracle database 11g on Windows Professional x64 Edition Version 2003 Service Pack 2..
When I try to start the Database control after renaming the IP_address to the local machine name which is robert. It prompts back with an error.

Hello Oracle experts,
I have to managed to Configure the Database Control by configuring a Microsoft Network adapter on my laptop but
right now I can't access it within the URL.
Tests of the running Database control include:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>emctl status dbconsole
Environment variable ORACLE_SID not defined. Please define it.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>SET ORACLE_SID=ocp11
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>emctl status dbconsole
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.1.0.6.0
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.

When I try to access the database control, I am un able to.
