Database, user name, password for Crystal report
We're running BOE XI 3.1 and we use WebI reports. One of our departments uses Crystal reports, and they'd like to be able to run them in our BOE environment so that they can refresh reports over the Web. They uploaded a report to BOE (using Add -> Crystal Reports) but when they try to refresh it they aren't prompted for the database or a password, and the refresh fails.
How do you specify the database / data source / data connection (or whatever it's called) for a Crystal report? How do you specify the user name and password to use for authenticating to the database?
Thanks,
LauraI am fairly new on this forum but we have been doing exactly what you are talking about with Crystal Reports published to BO XI 3.1 for a while. There are a few things we have found that have to be done to make this work right...
- Use the EXACT same ODBC/database connection setup on both the Crystal Report developer's machine and on the BO server
- On the developer's machine use integrated security for the database connection
- Then after you upload the report to BO, go into CMC and open the Crystal Report's properties. In there under "Default Settings" you will see an option for Database Configuration. The User and Password under the "Use original logon informstion from the report" should be empty. Put in a valid userid and password that has access to the database.
- Also, in the Database Configuration screen make sure the Server and Database boxes are filled-in - they will be greyed out and you can't change them (this is why you have to make sure the ODBC/database info is the same). If they are wrong, you will need to fix the ODBC/database connection in the original RPT file.
- Finally, you need to scroll to the bottom of the Database Configuration page and select the radio box "Use same database logon as when report is run" and then Save and Close
Now when users run the report it will use the user and password you entered to do it. The disadvantage is you are not using integrated security but then the users also never get prompted for a password. We tried very hard to get integrated security to work but could not manage it.
Hope this helps!

Import all users and their objects without doing full database import
Hi Guys,
I have a task to that involves Importing all existing users and their objects in production to the test database without doing a full database import - Please how do i do this?

ACS database users and passwords.
Hi, i need to get all users and passwords from a acs 3.3 database unencrypted.
How can i do it?
Could you help me ?To get a list of the USers in the ACS database use the CSUTIL tool on Windows platform.
go to bin directory under the ACS install folder and do
CSUtil.exe -u
this will generate a file "users.txt" in the same folder.
But I dont think you can get the password in unencrypted form. -
Migrate users from qmail to sun messaging (import MD5 hashed passwords)
Hi,
we are planning to migrate about 2000 users from our current mail system (qmail + openldap) to Sun Messaging 6.2.
We have encountered a problem with user password migration. In our current ldap user passwords are MD5 encrypted, but it appears as Directory 5.2 does not support MD5 encryption method.
This is what I have found :
http://docs.sun.com/source/817-7616/config.html#wp26092
The following encryption types are supported by Directory Server:
* SSHA (Salted Secure Hash Algorithm) is the recommended method as it is the most secure.
* SHA (Secure Hash Algorithm). This is the method supported by 4.x Directory Servers.
* CRYPT is the UNIX crypt algorithm. It is provided for compatibility with UNIX passwords.
* If this attribute is set to CLEAR, passwords are not encrypted and appear in plain text.
We want to import MD5 hashed passwords so users can use their old password after we migrate to SUN, but as passwords are updated they will be SSHA hashed.
We only have a problem with importing MD5 hashed passwords in ldap directory.
Current password on openLDAP are created with the following PHP code:
$info["userPassword"]= '{md5}' . base64_encode(pack('H*', md5($passwd)));
I have tried to copy userpassword value from openldap to directory but the directory ignores {md5} and hashed the string again using SSHA.
Example:
cleartextpass: password
md5_base64_hash={MD5}X03MO1qnZdYdgyfeuILPmQ==
after ldap modify userpassword field loks like this:
userpassword:{SSHA}a+dFsejrTGwQAgdU07kkgzWWOC16SiIW2UsPcQ==
What is the correct procedure to import MD5 hashed passwords in Sun Directory?
(NS-MTA-MD5 Password Storage Plug-In is enabled)Sun Directory 5.2 has a plugin NT-MTA-MD5 which should enable users to authenticate with MD5 hashed passwords.
I have checked in cn=config and NS-MTA-MD5 plugin is enabled.
I have tried with {NS-MTA-MD5} prefix and still directory does not allow users to authenticate.
Example:
cleartextpass: foo
md5_base64_hash={NS-MTA-MD5}rL0Y20zC+Fzt72VPzMSk2A==
after ldap modify userpassword field loks like this( NS-MTA-MD5 is accepted by directory):
userpassword:{NS-MTA-MD5}rL0Y20zC+Fzt72VPzMSk2A==
but
ldap bind fails with "invalid credentials" error
We are using solaris 10 so I tried using the prefix {crypt} and it did not work. You said something about the right config in /etc/security/crypt.conf. Here is the content of my crypt.conf file:
1 crypt_bsdmd5.so.1
2a crypt_bsdbf.so.1
md5 crypt_sunmd5.so.1
This should be the right config "md5 crypt_sunmd5.so.1"
Am I missing something here?
Is there anything else I need to do to enable directory to use MD5 hashed passwords?
Maybe NS-MTA-MD5 plugin is not enough? -
VB 2008, CR component and MS Acc: how to access with database(not user) pwd
These are the detail of the query:
1. MS Access 2003 and later database via OLE DB provide for entry of a u201Cdatabase passwordu201D to provide additional protection.
2. In VB 2005 and in VB2008 environment I have managed to establish a connection with a database password and open recordsets using ADO connection. See code below.
Note. stPassword is user password and stDBPassword is database password with the following code:
With cnn
'set connection string
.ConnectionString "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Password=" & stPassword & ";Data Source=T:\CPI.mdb;User ID=" & stUser & ";Persist Security Info=False;" & "Jet OLEDB:System database=t:\cpi.mdw;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=" & stDBPassword
.Open()
End With
3. When using Crystal Reports component supplied with VS 2008 I can only provide USER NAME and USER PASSWORD. No information is available how and where to enter DATABASE PASSWORD to the Crystal Reports component. As a result, Crystal Reports Viewer starts to run. Obviously access is denied because no DATABASE PASSWORD has been provided to the component. A common dialog comes up to enter database password.
4. User does not necessarily need know the DATABASE password and I am not interested in providing the database password to every user who runs reports. In this project database password serves as a form of protection from tampering with the database structure and contents through the use MS Access to access the database.
5. Here is the code to demonstrate logon via Crystal Component described above:
Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
And then in a sub:
Dim cnnInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
'cnnInfo.DatabaseName = cnn.DefaultDatabase
cnnInfo.UserID = stUser
cnnInfo.Password = stPassword
No place to input DATABASE password!!!
Does anyone know how can I input database password or provide a connection string or maybe ADO connection object which is opened within the project code.It seems like it is not possible to set the DB level password with the CR Visual Studio bundled version (as stated in the following KB c2010267). You would need to use the full version, and use the code below:
Symptom
A VB .NET application uses Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET as the reporting development tool.
A report is created that connects to a password protected Microsoft Access Database.
How do you pass a password (for database level security) or a password and user ID (for user level security) at runtime using the different connection methods(Native/ODBC/OLEDB)?
Resolution
To pass the database level password or a user level
userid/password at runtime, use the following code
sample:
'Add the following namespaces to the top of the code
'page
Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
Dim crReportDocument As New ReportDocument()
Dim crConnectionInfo as New ConnectionInfo
Dim crtableLogoninfo As New TableLogOnInfo()
Dim CrTables As Tables
Dim CrTable As Table
crReportDocument = New CrystalReport1()
With crConnectionInfo
<**Insert code from below depending on the type of
connection and the version of Crystal Reports you are
using**>
End With
CrTables = crReportDocument.Database.Tables
For Each crTable in crTables
crTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo =
crConnectionInfo
CrTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)
Next
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource =
crReportDocument

A couple of important points.
First, the listener is a server side only process. It's entire purpose in life is to receive requests for connections to databases and set up those connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. It doesn't sustain the connection. One listener, with the default name of LISTENER, running from one oracle home, listening on a single port, will serve multiple database instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes. It is an unnecessary complexity to try to have multiple listeners or to name the listener as if it belongs to a particular database. That would be like the telephone company building a separate switchboard for each customer.
Additional notes on the listener: One listener is capable of listening on multiple ports. But please notice that it is the listener using these ports, not the database instance. You can't bind a specific listener port to a specific db instance. Similarly, one listener is capable of listnening on multiple IP addresses (in the case of a server with multiple NICs) But just like the port, you can't bind a specific ip address to a specific db instance.
Second, the tnsnames.ora file is a client side issue. It's purpose is for address resolution - the tns equivalent of the 'hosts' file further down the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host machine is because that machine can also run client processes.
Assume you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:
larry =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = curley)
)Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:
$> sqlplus scott/tiger@larrytns will look in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called 'larry'. Next, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) using (PROTOCOL = TCP), asking for a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).
Where is (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request gets passed from tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name 'myhost' will get resolved to an IP address, either via a local 'hosts' file, via DNS, or possibly other less used mechanisms. You can also hard-code the ip address (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.
Next, the request arrives at port 1521 on myhost. Hopefully, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and that listener knows about SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.
What can go wrong?
First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames. In that case you get "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" No need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc. If you can't place a telephone call because you don't know the number (can't find your telephone directory (tnsnames.ora) or can't find the party you are looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look for problems at the telephone switchboard.
Maybe the entry for larry was found, but myhost couldn't be resolved to an IP address (say there was no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe there was an entry for myserver in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe the IP was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, but it is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, it is listening on the specified port, but doesn't know about SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor"
Third: If the client is on the same machine as the db instance, it is possible to connect without referencing tnsnames and without going through the listener.
Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:
$> sqlplus scott/tigertns will attempt to establish an IPC connection to the db instance. How does it know the name of the instance? It uses the current value of the enviornment variable ORACLE_SID. So...
$> export ORACLE_SID=fred
$> sqlplus scott/tigerIt will attempt to connect to the instance known as "fred". If there is no such instance, it will, of course, fail. Also, if there is no value set for ORACLE_SID, the connect will fail.
check executing instances to get the SID

ERROR:
ORA-12162: TNS:net service name is incorrectly specifiedOk, that is how we get from the client connection request to the listener. What about the listener's part of all this?
The listener is very simple. It's job is to listen for connection requests and make the connection (server process) between the client and the database instance. Once that connection is made, the listener is out of the picture. If you were to kill the listener, all existing connections would continue. The listener is configured with the listener.ora file, but if that file doesn't exist, the listener is quite capable of starting up with all default values. One common mistake with the listner configuration is to specify "HOST=localhost" or "HOST=127.0.01". This is a NONROUTABLE ip address. LOCALHOST and ip address 127.0.0.1 always mean "this machine on which I am sitting". So, all computers are known as "localhost" or "127.0.0.1". If you specify this address, the listener will only be capable of receiving requests from the machine on which it is running. If you specified that address in your tnsnames file - on a remote client machine - the request would be routed to the machine on which the requesting client resides. Probably not what you want.

Any ideas ?
ThanksLooking at your screen shot, it seems the database instance itself hasn't been correctly created because you lack permissions to do so. Subsequently, all your connection attempts basically fail because the database does not exists. I'm no real expert in SAP MaxDB administration on Microsoft Windows, but I read about System Error 5 once in a while earlier, have a look at [http://www.syseva.com/2009/05/operating-system-error-5-5access-is-denied/|http://www.syseva.com/2009/05/operating-system-error-5-5access-is-denied/]. Overally, I suspect you don't have the permissions you need to have (operating system/file system -wise) in order to create the files belonging to a MaxDB instance (and/or required by the server and tools, such as the dbmsrv ... err file mentioned in the screen). Maybe you should check your system permissions? Are you administrator or member of the appropriate groups [http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/0e/218650d996419d91f6b234766eadd3/content.htm|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/0e/218650d996419d91f6b234766eadd3/content.htm]? As pointed out, I'm no MaxDB/Windows expert, but this seems likely to be a problem as far as your screenshot is concerned.
Cheers,

Installation Error: IDES Database Import
Hello everyone,
Thank for all for the help so far. The forums have really helped me along in my SAP installation. This
particular error has occurred for the second time in a row.... This error happens after importing
approximately 250GB of IDES data into the sap database (MaxDB). The error logs and system info are
posted below.

Once again, thank you all for the help. Has there been a "sticky" post on how to format thread postings for
easy reading?
Thank you,
ZachMarkus,
To clarify on my original reply.
[root@xa4-myexaserv ~]# touch te$tpa$$word
[root@xa4-myexaserv ~]# ls -l te*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Feb 24 15:12 te24682word
What's occurring here is:
-> $tpa isn't a registered variable so bash is dropping it out of the command
-> $$ is a special parameter in bash that evaluates to the pid of the shell
Do you think something similar to this is happening in the x_python execution? ...this assumes that all of
these commands are running in a bash environment. Even if this is the culprit of my error, I'm unsure why the
following command succeeds:
/sapdb/programs/bin/dbmcli -n xa4-myexaserv -d XA4 -u CONTROL,******** load_systab -u
SUPERDBA,******** -ud ********
Perhaps I am over thinking it... But I have a hard time believing that a particular script in a large installation
would behave so differently from the rest of the installation scripts.
Thank you for the help,

BhushanHello,
do the OPS$ User exist? Do they have the right permissions? To which user does the table SAPUSER belong? Can you connect with sap<xyz) or SAPR3 to database?
e.g. like
sqlplus /nolog
connect sap<xyz>/pw?
you should change the password for the sap database user with brtools, like
brconnect -f chpass -o [sapr3 | sap<sid> | sap<xyz> | sapsr3] -p <new_password>
Best regards

How to import user for SSO (i.e ssoimp.cmd)
Hi,
i installed portal 3.0.7 and tried to transport the application from development to production server.Both uses same DB,same Portal version & same apache server version.This is the order mentioned for importing: I too did the same way.
Import sso dump (ssoimp.cmd)
Import sec dump (secimp.cmd)
Import Database dump (imp)
Import App dump (appimp.cmd)
Import cont area dump (contimp.cmd)
But during the very first time and very first step ,when i started the SSO dump import ,it says the following .
"Note:Import user have to login to login server by entering his/her password and must rename his/her password".
Of course the sso import also failed.
For,your info,i didn't create any user for import.System automatically created 'Portal30_SSO' user ,with it's default password during installation itself.
I also tried chaning the password for portal30_sso.But all in vein.
So can anybody guide me in this import issue ? Or else is there any other work around for bringing the application developed in development server to prod server( is there any way like taking a datafile backup and replacing it in PROD server to reflect the same changes ?) or what procedure do you follow to transport the developed application into Production server in your Organization.
Thanks in advance.
cheers!!!
[email protected]Wenjun,
As a general rule, you can use DX EXPORT request to get the structure of XML script for DX IMPORT:
<DX_REQUEST>
<EXPORT>
<USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
<SITE>SK</SITE>
<USER_GROUP>ADMINISTRATORS</USER_GROUP>
</USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
</EXPORT>
</DX_REQUEST>
In turn this gives me:
<USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
<USER_GROUP>ADMINISTRATORS</USER_GROUP>
<MODIFIED_DATE_TIME_ISO>2010-01-25T16:03:33Z</MODIFIED_DATE_TIME_ISO>
<DESCRIPTION>Administrators</DESCRIPTION>
<SITE>SK</SITE>
<USER_GROUP_MEMBER>
<USER_OR_GROUP_GBO>
<USR>
<USER_ID>SITE_ADMIN</USER_ID>
<SITE>SK</SITE>
</USR>
</USER_OR_GROUP_GBO>
</USER_GROUP_MEMBER>
<CREATED_DATE_TIME_ISO>2010-01-25T16:03:33Z</CREATED_DATE_TIME_ISO>
</USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
This structure with needed changes should be inserted into <DX_REQUEST><IMPORT>...</IMPORT></DX_REQUEST> script.
Please note, that each time you send such script, the user group will be overwritten rather than updated with new users.

[10G] DATAPUMP IMPORT는 자동으로 USER 생성
===================================
PURPOSE
다음은 DATAPUMP의 기능을 소개하고자 한다.
Explanation
imp utility 에서는 target user가 존재해야 했었다
그러나 DATAPUMP 는 만익 target user가 존재하지 않는다면
이를 자동으로 생성한다.
Example :
=============
Source database 에서 TEST라는 user 가 있다.
TEST ( password : test , role : connect , resource )
Export the TEST schema using datapump:
expdp system/oracle dumpfile=exp.dmp schemas=TEST
Case I
=======
test user가 존재하지 않을 경우에 import 는 test user를 자동으로 생성한다.

User Name/Password class for MySQL -- it almost works ... almost
I'm working on creating a user name/password class called Login that will get the information that is required to log into a MySQL database (This program is not an applet, by the way).
In brief this class does following:
* It creates a JFrame with JTextFields and a JPasswordField and a login button. All compents have ActionListener.
* I am able to read the info from the fields (I tested this using System.out.println)
* Another program calls this Login class (see code at end of post)
I want the program to close the frame (I figured that out) and return the values to the calling program. I can't figure out how to have it return a cat string ( of "host|port|username|password" ). If this was one large piece of java source code, it'd be a piece of cake, but the code is broken into several java source components and I'm trying to figure out how to get the ActionListener to return the string.
One web page mentioned using an ejector but haven't been able to find any information about that. Another thought was maybe putting some kind of code in the windowClosing event for the Login class.
Ex:
public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e)
setVisible(false);
dispose();
// return value to calling function somehow
}Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm teaching myself this so I'm sure there are better ways to do the JFrame formatting, but here's the code anyway. I'll post the additional changes (in context) when I get a working version of this.

You want a login dialog.
Some program calls the dialog and waits untile user respond
once the user press ok or cancel it reutrn the users input to the caller.
You can do this directly using JFrame
but you can do it wil JDialog if you use it as aModal dialog.
it will look like this
class LogInDialog extends JDialog implements ActionListener{
String value;
public LogInDialog(){
setModel(true);
// This is what you invoke
public String loadDialog(){
setVisible(true);
return value;
public void actionListener(..... e){
if (e.getSource() == bCancel)
value = null;
else if (e.getSource() == bOk)
value = //generate the string
dispose();
}
