Database in Telecom

respected forum viewers,
i want to ask a question that when we dial a call from our mobile phone or when we receive some call on
our mobile phone , is database used in this process or not..............?
if yes how the database is used.
plz reply in detail
regards

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a telecom not using Oracle. A number of them sprang up in the Seattle area founded by Microsoft millionaires.
Like Expedia, and so many others, when they become successful they switch to Oracle ... because they have to in order to handle the transaction volume and the security requirements.
One of my favorite war stories was from years ago when I was asked to consult for a team that had written the Jet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Jet_Database_Engine) engine for Microsoft's databases. They had already decided on Windows. They wanted my help deciding Oracle vs DB2.
What they were not willing to consider tells the whole story ... they knew what they didn't want ...and well ... because they had built it.

  • How to move only subset of data from one database to another?

Both source & destination are Oracle11g databases.
The requirement details are as below,
    1) The database contains static as well as transactional data for telecom domain.
    2) We have to move region-wise data from one database to another.
    3) There are around 10 regions.
    4) The region wise data extraction from source db is based on around 40 to 50 tables. Rest of the tables contains
static data & it will not change.
    5) The volume is around 1 million subscribers per region.
    6) The migration is required because
    a) The client is upgrading its base product which uses this database
    b) There is a change in structure of static tables
    c) Hardware upgrade
    d) The client want to start with single region on new database & rest of the regions will be operated from old
    database.
    7) Keep execution time to very minimum.
I am thinking to have solution as below,
    1) Create destination database with upgraded db structure (as mentioned in 6b)
    2) Create database links to access source db in destination db.
    3) Write SQL queries to fetch data from all the respective tables for a specific region
    4) Write separate PL/SQL blocks for each table to fetch data from source db & insert into respective table in
    destination db
    a) Use FOR ALL & bulk collect to improve the performance
    b) Divide table data into multiple chunks & execute parallel batches (around 10) to insert the data
    5) Validate pre & post counts to verify the success of migration
Is there any other better way?
    Regards,
    Sandeep

How to move only subset of data from a partiular table by using transportable tablespace?
E.g. SUB table using SMP_SUB tablespace contains subscriber data in source database.
The indexes defined on SUB table are under SMP_IDX_SUB tablespace
The subscribers data can be categorized by different regions, say region_id column. Then how to move data & indexes of SUB table from source db to destination db?
any specific example would be helpful.

  • High performance in memory database supporting C++ and JAVA

    Hi,
I am considering to build a Java compatible In memory database to speed up the application of JAVA. We have now the C++ version of the database, named MTDB, which is hundreds of times faster than phisical database. The in memory database runs on solaris, linux and windows system. MTDB supports load sharing, data distribution, and realtime data synchronizing. MTDB shows large capacity, great performance, stability, and scalability in telecom applications. Add JAVA access interface to MTDB is very valuable. Please send me email if you have interest in this.
    Thanks.

Are you selling it? In which case advertisements are not appropriate here.
There are a bunch of existing in-memory databases for Java which offer significant performance enhancements - unless yours outdoes them considerably I think you'll find a very limited market.
Check out hsqldb.org for one example.

  • Oracle Import In 817 Database

    Hi,
I've a couple of tables that has a million records or more and occupying some 300MB of space.I export these tables with no data (using the ROWS=N option). When I try to import these tables from the .DMP file, the tables gets created with 300MB of space or more as available in the .DMP file. Is there any way in which I could ignore the storage clause available in the .DMP file. Please let me know at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Requirements for database design and installation

    Hi,
As a database administrator, how to find out whether the database is design and installed properly?
Can you please what would be the requirements to be considered towards the databse design for application developer ?
    thanks heaps !!!!

    Mohamed ELAzab wrote:
regarding that the number of execution is the main thing that affects the performance i said that already above " the application executed it 30 000" but you didn't read my answer correctly. I did not respond to that "answer" of yours as it was not part of your posting that I responded too. In your response, which I quoted, talked about non-sharable SQL retrieving 20 rows and after 3 years it retrieving a million rows. This has no bearing on whether the SQL is sharable or not.
I don't agree with you regarding that the design is not being done regarding considering the performance bottlenecks. So you decide on what the bottlenecks are up front, and then use these as database design considerations? I fail to see any logic or merit in such an approach.
i want to let you know that we in the telecoms environment have many problems in our databases because the people who designed those applications didn't take performance in consideration.I understand too well - and it is not that they did not take performance into consideration when designing the database, it is because the design is just plain wrong from the start.
You do not need to consider amount of memory available, number and speed of CPUs, bandwidth and speed of the I/O system, in order to design a database. These have no relevance at all during the design phase. Especially as the h/w that will run the design in production in a year's time can be drastically different from the h/w that will be used today.
No, instead you use a proper and correct design methodology and data modeling approach. Why? Because such a design by its very nature will make optimal use of h/w resources and will provide data integrity, scalability and performance.
Again i think design of the database application must take database performance bottlenecks in consideration like application which doesn't use bind variables if they took into consideration to avoid that it will help the DBA in the future but unfortunately most people doesn't do that. And as I said - using bind variables or not has absolutely nothing to do with the basic question asked in this thread: "+what are the requirements of database design+".
How does using/not using bind variables influence the design of a table? Determine whether an entity is in 3NF? What the unique identidiers are for an entity? These are the design considerations for a database.. not bind variables.
Yes, SQLs not using bind variables can cause performance problems. Not paying the electricity bill can cause a power outage for the database server. So what? These issues have no relevance to database design.

  • Objects are updated/created in the database in wrong order

    Hello,
I have three objects tied with certain relations: Ticket, Type and
    Solution.
Relation between Ticket and Solution is unidirectional one-to-one - ticket
may contain one solution. Relation between Type and Solution is one-to-many
    bi-directional.
During transaction I do the following:
    1) instantiate new Solution and add it to the Type;
    2) set this Solution to the Ticket.
On commit Kodo tries to update ticket before creating solution in the
database. What am I doing wrong?

The best way to handle update/insert order is not to rely on it. Not only
foreign key sensitive to order but unique constraints too. So if your
database supports it (and most decent databases do) use defferred
constraints - the ones which get applied on commit not on
insert/update/delete and you will be fine
"Alexey Maslov" <[email protected]> wrote in message

    Patric,
    Thank you for response.
It's not about Type->Solution relation. We've got constraint from
    Ticket
to Solution. But we need to load Ticket to get it's Type.
It's a problem to instantiate the Solution before loading Type. Thething
is that Type object is used to construct Solution automatically adding
    it
    to
    internal collection.
This is done to overcome JDO deficiency in relation maintenance. I'vefound
this pattern in Robin Roos' book.
create...() method usage makes sure that dependent object is added tothe
parent after each creation. Adding objects manually after creation wouldbe
    error-prone and code-cluttering.
Where's that "transparency" so much told about on JDOCentral?
P.S. I wonder how this pattern works in other places?
"Patrick Linskey" <[email protected]> wrote in message

    Alexey,
In Kodo JDO 2.3 and 2.4, object changes are flushed to the database in
the order that the objects are first enlisted in the transaction. So,
    if
you instantiate the Solution object before loading Type, everything
should work the way you want it to.
We have more sophisticated foreign key constraint satisfaction code in
internal codebases -- expect to see this hit production in the nextfew
    months.

Can you elaborate a bit on "not working"? What, exactly, is the behavior you're seeing? What is the behavior you expect? Are you getting errors? If so, what errors?
In the "ERP environment", are users connecting via a client/ server application? Or via a three-tier application? Assuming a three-tier application, are you trying to invite the nodes of the application servers? Or of the end clients (or, potentially, the web servers)?

JUst bought iPhone 6+ A1524 unlocked in Singapore, but not working on China Telecom.  Is this the right version or is there a trick to get phone to recognize CDMA networks?

For any phone to work on CDMA networks it must be provisioned by the carrier. They will need to add the MEID of the phone to their database. However, I believe that all (or most) of the carriers in China are GSM, not CDMA.

  • Logical Database in Abap Objects

    Hi to All
I want do it a program report using a Logical Database.
Is this possible ??? But when I make a GET <node>, occurs the following error:
             "" Statement "ENDMETHOD" missing.  ""
    I'm doing the following:
    CLASS MONFIN IMPLEMENTATION.
           METHOD TRAER_DATOS.
                   GET VBRK.
           ENDMETHOD.
    ENDCLASS.
Please, somebody tell me how I use the logical database in Abap Objects.
    Thank you very much
    Regards
    Dario R.

    Hi there
Logical databases whilst of "some use" are not really part of OO.
If you want to use a logical database in an abap OO program I would create a special class which just does the get data from your DB and pass this either at record or table level.
Techniques such as GET XXXX LATE aren't really part of any OO type of application since at Object Instantiation time you should be able to access ALL the attributes of that object.
As far as OO is concerned Logical databases are a throwback to "Dinosaur Technology".
Since however modules such as SD and FI are still heavily reliant on relational structures (i.e linked tables etc)  then there is still some limited life in this stuff but for OO try and solve it by another method.
If you really must use this stuff in OO then do it via a FMOD call and save the data in a table which your method will pass back to your application program.
You can't issue a GET command directly in a method.
    Cheers

  • Logical database in adhoc query

    Hello All,
Can anyone tell me what is the logical database in adhoc query?

    Hi
When you create a query , you have to select an infoset. Infoset can be considered as a source from which data is populated in the Query Fields.
Infosets are created from Transaction SQ02.
There can be four methods through which an Infoset can become a source of data:
    1.  Table join ( By joining two or more tables from Data dictionary)
example: Joining tables PA0001 and PA0006 on Pernr to get a one resultant dataset
    2. Direct read of Basis Table ( Like PA0001 as a source for data in Infoset )
    3. Logical Database ( A Pre-written Program by SAP that extract data from clusters, tables taking care of authorizations and validity periods)
Example : Logical database PNP, PNPCE (Concurrent Employement),PCH ( LDB for Personnel Development Data)
Custom Logical DBs can be created in T_Code SE-36.
    4. Data Retrieval by a Program ( Custom code written by ABAP developers which will collect and process data) . This program has a corresponding Structure in data dictionary and the fields of this structure will be used in query)
    Reward Points, if helpful.

  • LOGICAL DATABASE IN HR ABAP PRPGRAMMING

    Hi Friends,
what is use of LOGICAL DATABASE IN HR ABAP PROGRAMMING
AND END-OF-SELECTION EVENT IN HR PROGRAMMING PROGRAMMING???
    regards,
    vijay.

    hi
    HR Logical Databases
In Human Resources (HR), the following logical databases can be used as a data source for HR InfoSets:
    PNP (PNPCE)
    PAP
    PCH
By selecting a logical database, you determine the HR data that can be reported on using an InfoSet.
    Logical Database PCH
This logical database generally enables you to report on all HR infotypes. However, you are advised not to use this logical database unless you want to report on Personnel Planning data.
    Logical Database PNP (or PNPCE)
Use logical database PNP to report on HR master data. It is possible to use logical database PCH to access this data, but PNP meets such reporting requirements more quickly because it is best suited to the task of selecting persons.
Logical database PNP enables you to access HR master data and infotypes from Personnel Planning. For example, you have the following options:
Reporting on the costs, number of attendees booked, and instructor for a business event on which an employee is booked
Reporting on working time and planned compensation for a position that an employee occupies
Reporting on the validity and proficiency of a qualification that an employee fulfils
From a technical perspective, this means you can use PNP to report on all of the infotypes that exist for objects (infotype 1000) that have a direct relationship (infotype 1001) with the Person object.
The ability to access infotypes from Personnel Planning using logical database PNP is a special feature that you can only use in the context of SAP Query and Ad Hoc Query. You cannot use this functionality for ABAP reports you programmed yourself.
You can also use logical database PNP to report on data from Personnel Time Management (infotypes 2000 to 2999) and Payroll (special payroll infotypes for the USA and customer infotypes; for more information, access Customizing for the Human Resources Information System and see Payroll Results).
    Logical Database PAP
Logical database PAP enables you to access data from Recruitment.

    Hi all,
while installing NW '04 SR1 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 and MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 I ran into an error related to the database connection. While performing the step "Load Java Database content" SAPinst crashes with the message

I had a problem with this installation setup before (have a look at the corresponding <a href="https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=338638&tstart=0">thread</a> ), the JDBC drivers where missing on the installation master but after copying them in the right direction the installation went on with no problem up to this point...
Has anybody an idea what could have happened here? Is this maybe a problem connected to the one I recently had

    We have Business Objects 3.1 SP2 FP2.3 running on Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bits.
CMS database on SQL 2005 x64
    Environment runs on Apache Tomcat
Single Sign-On with kerberos on Active Directory is working fine.
We have developers who want to use their Crystal Reports with SSO also and not use SQL authentication like they used to do in previous BO versions.
In Windows AD Authenticaton of the CMC, I checked the option Cache security context (required for SSO database)
In the Database Configuration of the Crystal Report we're testing, in the section "When viewing report", we selected Use SSO context for database logon
Is there any other necessary configuration to be done in any config file?
Not sure whether this should be added but in the krb5.ini file, I added the following value under libdefaults (just before the realms section): forwardable = true
When I try to view the report, I get the following error message in InfoVIew:
Error in File "testreport": Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters: Details: [Database Vendor Code: 18456]
For the same kind of report but with the option: "Use same database logon as when report is run", with SQL authentication parameters, everything is OK.
DEV Environment: one InfoVIew FrontEnd server and one BO CMS server
PROD Environment: one InfoView FrontEnd server and 2 BO clustered servers
    Regards
    Jay

    Tim
