Database item of the balance cannot be shown

I have created a balance, and I want to use the value of this balance in BG_ABSENCE_DURATION but the database item of this balance cannot be shown with this formula (when access the data base item window in the formula) although it can be shown in another formulas with type 'Oracle Payroll'.
Can Anyone advice please.
Thank You

Not all the database items are available to all the Formulas. It depends on the context required by the database item.
You will have to write a formula function and calculate your balance value in the formula function. You will still need to use some database items to get a handle of the assignment/employee.
I'm afraid that not many database items may be available for such a formula type.
Also make sure that any database items you use work both from core apps and self service.
Thanks,
Tilak.

    Do you guys know where to populate the CSS class items on the WYSIWYG Editor as shown below? We're trying to make it easily for the client to apply formatting by selecting the CSS Class on the list.

    The Page Template must contain a reference to exactly one stylesheet.
    That single <link rel="stylesheet"> tag must be directly in the <head> section of the Page Template, not in any content holder.
    The class to be added cannot have a selector any more complex than a single class. E.g., this is fine:
    .button {
         background-color: red;
         padding: 5px 10px;
    This will fail:
    .content .button {
         background-color: red;
         padding: 5px 10px;
    The classes to be added must each be added to the list in the Partner Portal (Partner Portal › Tools › Online Editor Settings › select your site from the dropdown › Editor Apply CSS).
    With caching disabled, the above changes will be visible when you change a page's Template and answer 'Yes' to the 'Do you want to reload?' alert box.

  • How to include non database item in the query

    Hi
    I have a Master-Detail form. where in the detail block one of the field is text item 'X' attached the list of values(Y). Master block includes non database items which is based in the decoding result of the database items for example:
    Gender(Male, Female)>> non database item
    Gender_id(M,F)>>database item
    the form is created based on the template.fmb form for apps. When I run the form in the query mode, i can query about any database item while including query about others non database item does not affect.
    how to can i modify it so this could be handled??
    I know that one way to avoid this issue is to create a view with all my desired field.
    but there should be away to override the build in query used by oracle apps...
    any one has a link, source, document... etc that help on this??
    any idea how to do it without creating a view??
    thnx alot

    Hi HST,
    You can code the handling in POST-Query of the corresponding block to retrive the corresponding data depending on the Queried data.

  • Database Home Page - The page cannot be displayed

    Hello Oracle Gurus,
    Thank you in advance for your response.
    I'm running Oracle Database 10g Express Edition on Windows XP. When I launch the Database Home Page in IE I get a "The page cannot be displayed" error.
    I have gone through several posts on this forum and I have tried the following 5 things:
    1. I have stopped the database (net stop ...) and re-started the database (net start ...). This did not fix the problem.
    2. I checked the reading of "select open_mode from v$database;" this returned:
    OPEN_MODE
    READ WRITE
    I assume this is what it should be.
    3. I checked the reading of "select status from v$instance;" this returned:
    STATUS
    OPEN
    I assume this is what it should be.
    4. In IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Local intranet -> Sites -> Advanced, I added 127.0.0.1 to the local intranet zone.
    5. I restarted my WinXP PC.
    None of the above things worked.
    Does anybody have any suggestions of things to try to get the Database Home Page up and running?
    Please note that I am a newbie to Oracle so please write your response at the simplest possible level.
    Thanks,
    K

    Hi Luis,
    try to type STATIC into the o.k. code field and then refresh the graphic. If you see something now the problem is the BSP application for the graphics that is not activated you have to go to the corresponding service in transaction SICF. The IMG hold some documentation for this. You may also search this forum for other posts on the issue. There is some.

  • Problem with non-database item

    I have a 10g rel 2 form that has a post-query trigger that populates a non-database item. The non-database item has a when-validate-item trigger which I only want to fire when the user changes something in that field not at query time because it causes the form status to be changed. How can I either prevent this trigger from firing in query mode or test within the trigger that I'm in query mode so that the logic won't get executed?

    Put this at the top of your when-validate trigger:
      If :system.mode = 'QUERY' then
        return;
      End if;I have found that post-query activity often causes ALL when-validate triggers at the item and block level to run. So you may need those three lines in every when-validate trigger.

  • Set value of hidden database item

    I have a simple non-tabular form for creating rows in a table. I need to set the value of a hidden database item to be the same as a database item which the user enters.
    I know this can be done by a database trigger and also by a custom update process, but is there other (simpler) way to do this ?
    Vincent

    Vincent,
    By "hidden database item", I'm assuming that you mean a column in a table. By "database item which the user enters", I'm assuming that you mean a page item on your form. If that's correct, just edit that item in the builder, making its source type 'Database Column' and its source the column name, and the automatic row fetch and DML processes on the page will take care of the rest. If you mean something else, let us know.

  • Non-Database items in enter-query mode

    I have a form with 2 base table blocks, typical master details situation. I wish to allow a field from the detail block to be queryable from the master block. I was considering adding a non-database item to the master block (visible only when in Enter-Query mode). In a pre-query trigger I would amend the DEFAULT-WHERE property of the master block when the appropriate where clause using the non-database item value. My prototype/test version works fine except the non-database item is not enabled while the master block is in enter-query mode.
    I think basically forms will enable only field s if they are database items and queryable set to yes. There are no more database items I can use to set the non-database item column name property.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Ralph,
    we have several Forms using non-database items as query-items which works fine.
    What we did is following:
    1) create non-database item xy in master-data-block
    2) set property database item to no
    3) set property query allowed to yes
    4) create a pre-query trigger on master-data-block where we change the where-clause (this is forms6i, in 9i we would use the one-time-where-clause)

  • Display '0s' for null database items Please help!

    Hi all,
    I need your help on a possible minor problem I'm encountering. I have 5 fields (all numeric data types) on my form of which, the last field is a sum (formula non-database item) of the top four items. 2 out of the remaining 4 fields are database text items in which I'd like to update the database based on user input. The table that stores the 4 values does not require data and defaults to null if no data present.
    What I'd like to do is display a '0' on the form so that its visible and it could get added to the formula sum item but not update the database fields with a '0' (if any one of those top 4 fields returns null from the table ). I've tried creating a formula in the property palette on the fields with an nvl(field,0) function and got a chain reference error that I couldn't figure out based on the oracle error suggestions. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could handle my request. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Zakiy,
    I don't know much about the POST-CHANGE trigger. Did a little research and posted some code in there retrieving the nvl(field) value. It compiled ok but didn't display the '0.' I'm not sure if I used the trigger the right way.
    Here's my code:
    DECLARE
    v_points NUMBER;
    CURSOR c_points IS
    (SELECT nvl(points,0)
    FROM student
    WHERE student_id = :id);
    BEGIN
    OPEN c_points;
    FETCH c_points INTO v_points;
    CLOSE c_points;
    END;
    If this is incorrect, do you have an example from what you were thinking? Also, just out of curiosity, why do you recommend this trigger over the formula?
    From what I was mentioning before, I don't know why the formula w/the nvl works in the sum field but doesn't in the other 4 fields. The sum field is a non-database item whereas 2 others are display items and the remaining 2 are text items. Seems simple enough to use the nvl in the formula section for all 4 fields I kept getting that error.

  • Searching in non-database items

    Hi,
    I have a block of which the source is a table.
    There are some non-database item in the block.
    Actually these fields are from another table.
    In the post-query, I populate the non-database items with the table.
    My question is : normally I can use 'Enter Query' to seach the records in
    the database column. How can I perform seaching with non-database items ?
    Thanks
    Ivan

    In a pre-query trigger alter the where clause of the main block to query the main table based on non-database values...
    Use the set_block_property procedure and the 'DEFAULT_WHERE' clause or the 'ONETIME_WHERE' property...
    example...
    set_block_property('MYBLOCK', ONETIME_WHERE,
    'where main_table.id in (
    select id from my_non_db_block_table where mycol = :my_non_db_field)');
    To accept wild cards you will probably have to change the = to a "like" above..
    You will have to build your where clause by adding a "and" condition for each non-db field.

  • Query Non Database items in form

    I need to be able to query non database items in the form.

    Hi,
    Yes you can do this. You have to create control items all of them have same data type and lenght as table's. then you can issue select statement. eg.,
    select field1, field2
    into :item1, :item2
    from table_name;
    Hope this helps
