Could anyone please tell me the database limits(eg table
size,number of columns etc) of oracle8i lite

So - you are using Oracle Application Express to interact with the data stored in your Oracle Database - Express Edition.
The only limits in the database Express Edition are:
- it will not use more than 1 CPU
- it will not use more than 1 GB RAM
- it will not permit more than 4GB user data to be stored
Any other limits or limitations are from the application (or application design) or from Application Express. You might want to move this discussion to either the Application Express forum or the Express Edition forum. Managing a single Oracle Lite database file

Hi,
I was wondering if there's the possibility of using a single database file of Oracle Lite just like it can be done with SQL Server CE. At the moment, I'm using the SQLCE driver of .NET to manipulate my SDF file (SQLCE database for Pocket PCs) without using a SQL SERVER Merge replication; however, I was trying to change my SQLCE database to an Oracle Lite database without using the whole replication thing. I've already installed the whole Oracle Lite 10g kit but it seems it's necessary to create some DNS (that I don't fully understand :S) and that's not what I'm looking for. I hope my explanation isn't that vague and ambiguous. Thanks in advance.

It appears that c:\windows\polite.ini c:\windows\odbc.ini need to be installed. odbc.ini must contain the DSN entry for your DB.
Note you can create/modify these files when you install you application that uses Oracle Lite. If you happen to have an application that dynamically creates the DB then you can reuse the one DSN entry for multiple DBs. Just provide the DB location in the connection string along with the DSN reference.

I have a requirement to develop an application in Java for PALM OS with Oracle Lite 8i/9i connectivity. I want to know if j2me/kvm supports connectivity to PALM Oracle lite 8i/9i. Please help me to know what all java VM available in the market which have oracle connectivity(jdbc/odbc/whatever) for Oracle Lite for PALM.

Thanks for the respose. But I want to have local database in Palm Oracle lite. The oracle lite database will be on palm device. My question is, If we can commect to oracle lite on palm using jdbc/etc?
I am new to J2Me, But what I understand by writing servlets that they will be running on a web server. But I want the program to run on PALM DEVICE(AWT/SWING) with connnnection to local oracle lite.

Efragdb.exe in Oracle Lite 10g R3

We have the following situation when working on Oracle LIte 10g R3. We used defrag.exe with a database created in Oracle Lite R2. During the "Dumping Triggers" phase, it shows the error message "Wrong trigger type 34 for trigger TRIG_INSUPDPVDETPAGCAJ.". The refered trigger is based on a java procedure, and it was created in the source database without errors.
If we drop the trigger and defrag.exe is run again, the "Loading Extents" phase show the error message "Invalid opcode: 65!!!".
I will appreciate any suggestion about this.

Jsf application with oracle lite webtogo

hello...
i have developed an application using jsf-adf bc technology in jdeveloper and then deployed it on mobile server.During development connected it to a oracle database .Before deployment changed the database connection to oracle lite using jdbc:polite:webtogo in application module configurations.But this application when opened in oracle lite client OC4J is not showing up.Please tell me how the connection has to be made to oracle lite database before deployment in jdeveloper so that the application works on the oracle lite OC4J client.

Preventing trigger executing on oracle lite

I am using Mobile Server and Oracle Lite to provide mobile copies of the database to a small set of users. We have an application that some users use to update data on the mobile databases, and the same application is used by other users who are permanently connected to the main central database. Mobile users will synchronize with the central database whenever they return to their home office.
On both they central Oracle database and the Oracle Lite mobile databases there are several triggers written for functions such as creating unique primary keys from sequences and updating a "last updated" field on each table (plus a few more complicated scenarios).
My problem is that I want these triggers to execute only on inserts, updates and deletes from actions initiated directly on the mobile workstation. I do NOT want these same triggers to be executed on either the central or mobile databases as a result of a synchronization with the central Oracle database.
How do I prevent triggers from executing on the oracle lite mobile database as a result of table data changes from a synchronization with the central database?

We do use sequences to populate primary key ID values, but do not use triggers to set these (even on the server applications) due to the problems associated with foriegn key matching. Instead the sequences tend to be selected within the application and then used explicitly in the insert statements.
On the clients (PDAs and laptops in outr case) we define sequences within the mobile publications (to ensure that the values are unique to each client - you do not mention how you create the client sequences, but you need to ensure that the range is different for each client otherwise you will get data overwritten), and then all insert statements are in the form insert into table (id,...) values (id_seq.nextval,..). I can see however that this would require more change to you application code to achieve this.
It is possible to set triggers on the server end to populate/change the id values, but this can cause problems if the data is returned to the client as you will end up with two records.
Our client app is java based and so sets up a SQL string that is executed by the execute statement methods. This could be wrapped with a method that sets the id values, but this could be a bit cumbersome
NOTE When we define the sequences in the mobile applications we always set a start point considerably higher than the equivilent range on the server (start at 500 million) with a large range so that in practice they do not need to be reset. The range difference is also useful in that it makes it easy to identify client created data.

Hibernate and Oracle Lite 10g

Has anyone been able to get Oracle Lite 10g working with Hibernate?

What problems are you having? You are using Webtogo OC4J right?
It has been a while since I worked with Hibernate and in theory, it should work with any relational database. Since Oracle Lite closely resembles Oracle, I can't see an issue with the database, just the container that it is running in.

How to create a table in Oracle Lite database?

So I am trying to create a table in Oracle Lite database which comes with SOA suite. I am not able to do it, can some body suggest me please?

We have a standalone application that uses Oracle Lite. A requirement we have from a new customer is to use their Oracle Lite database structure or to come up with a mechanism that sends the data between the 2 different structures.
Both the structures reside in the same database.
Initial thoughts were to write triggers on both structures that convert the data or to use XML / XSL and treat them as seperate apps.
However, I'm wondering if there is a different way. Do Oracle provide any tools that can help with mapping between 2 different structures that hold the same domain data?
Anyone got any better ideas?

Client Upgrade issue in Oracle Lite Database 10g 10.3.0.3.0

Hi all,
Details: My Environment is Oracle Database 11g R1(11.1.0.6.0) With Oracle Lite Database 10g R3(10.3.0.3.0) on Windows 2003 Server R2 SP2.
Recently i have upgrade my oracle lite database from 10.3.0.2.0 to 10.3.0.3.0 and also applied recent opatch (p12812978_103030_Generic.zip). Upgrade and installation of opatch got successfully completed. When i tried the client synchornization for the very first time (FCS and Data Download) FCS and Data Download got Successfully completed but the problem is usually Once the FCS and Data Download Got Completed , Screen goto webtogo home page but in my case i am getting a screen name called "client upgrade" with options yes or no if choose yes it prompting please wait screen nearly for 1 hours i am not getting any response from the screen. if choose no simply it goto my webtogo home page. Please Note before choosing the yes option i have checked what version i am currently having it show 10.3.0.3 i don't know why it asking for the client upgrade. Please Advice me on this how to avoid this screen (Client Upgrade).

i am not upgrading the existing environment of Oracle Lite Client i am creating a new environment which doesn't have the Oracle Lite Client. In the document itself they have mentioned like this "These steps assume that you have a 10g Release 1 or 2 Branch Office environment already configured and synchronized. If you do not have this environment currently configured, you do not need to upgrade." To be Clear What i am doing is with help Oracle Lite Branch Office i will be downloading a user from Mobile Server for that i have to do the following
1.FCS(Fresh Client Setup for that i have to run the setup.exe which is coming for Oracle Lite Branch Office) and
2.Data download (Data will be get download from Mobile Server in the form of odb),
3. Usually Once the FCS and Data Download got completed, the screen will goto the webtogo home there i can see my branch offlice applications.
4. But in my case i am getting prompted by screen and the screen name called "Client Upgrade" with options yes or no if i choose yes screen got hanged else if i choose no then only screen moving the webtogo home page. Say can u r having existing environment in your machine due to some reasons u have upgrade or u have installed optach on the mobile server in that case while doing the client synchronication we can do the client upgrade by running the update.exe becasue client side will having the old binary file we need to renew it.
5. But I am not upgrading the existing environment. I am creating a new environment which means i am doing a fresh client setup and synchronization for the very first time. While doing the FCS on my client side for the very first time i will be getting the latest binaries rite then why the screen is moving to client upgarde page i don't have any idea on this.
Please Advice.

JDBC API ( JSR 169 ) Implementation for accessing oracle lite database

We are developing an application using IBM J9 (CDC and Foundation Profile) on Pocket PC 2003 environment with SWT as the front end development. We are using Oracle Lite 9i as the Client database.
We have sucessfully installed Oracle Lite and was able to create tables in the database.. however we could not find the JDBC API (java.sql and javax.sql packages which is JSR 169 JDBC 2.0/3.0) inorder to load the JDBC driver(OLITE40.jar) and access the oracle Lite Database on Pocket PC.
IBM J9 Micro Environement does not have this support.
I am wondering if Oracle provides this implementation.
If not is there a get around.
the client database is crucial to the application and i would really appreciate an answer to our problem.

Problem in Oracle EM (Database Limits - Current Open Cursors)

Hi everyone,
I have a problem in Oracle Enterprise Manager in All Metrics.
When I select in All Metrics e.g. Health Check > Maintenance it work's fine and I see a chart.
If I select in All Metrics > Database Limits > Current Open Cursors Count I got following error:

In this database instance i drop these users (schemas): dbuser, mddata, ordplugins, ordsys, si_informtn_schema!!
Can this lack of user to cause an error?

Hello Mark,
personally I don;t think it is a good idea to drop schema's from the database that have been installed as part of the activation of a certain Database Option. If you don't want the option, then don't instal it.

Error in Oracle Lite Database connection

I have installed the Oracle Application server 10.1.3.1.0 on my laptop (basic installation).
I tried to define a database connection in the JDeveloper connection navigator to the Oracle lite database. When I test the connection I got an error:
"Internal Error:Invalid Connect String".
I have defined in the connection tab of the Edit database connection in the following way:
Driver class: oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver
Library: OLite

Did you start the SOA suite on your workstation?
If so, can you reach the BPEL Console
if so, check via Enterprise Manager the connect string in the OC4J instance of BPEL (oc4j_soa -> administartion -> JDBC > conenctions, or data-sources.xml)
Copy the connect string into your OLite config if it works

When data is entered opened on the oracle lite webtogo OC4J client is giving the following errors:
JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:java.sql.Date with value:2/21/08 12:00 AM
JBO-27014: Attribute CreationDate in AppModule.ApplicantIncomesView1 is required
JBO-27024: Failed to validate a row with key oracle.jbo.Key[85685 ] of type AppModule.ApplicantIncomesView1
Which date format is supported on the OC4J client?The application has been developed using Jdeveloper JSF/ADF BC technology.
