In that case, check your IP address - it is probably changed from the original value.
Better not use TCP/IP if you are just working locally (that is, your database and your
development tools reside on the same machine). Use IPC instead.
If your database should be accessed remotely, change the ip-address to your computer NAME - it will (... should) be resolved to whatever IP address you have.
Both name (and domain) and IP address can be found as result of the ipconfig/all command

Unknown Database Connector Error using Crystal Report XI with Windows 7
My current configuration is:
Windows XP Professional
Crystal Reports XI Professional
Oracle Client 10g
This is working great, however we are switching to Windows 7 Professional and I need to get this same configuration working on the new machines.
I have loaded Windows 7 Professional and Oracle Client 10g. Oracle makes the data connection without any problems. I loaded Crystal Reports XI Professional, but it will not connect to the Oracle database. It keeps giving me the Unknown Database Connector error. Can anyone assist me with this problem? This is the final software package that is holding up the project.
ThanksHello Uher,
Thanks for quickly response.
I have attached the details of my issue, the most confuse part is that I'm not sure is there any conflict btw software.
Appreciating your professional advise. -
After loading Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop PC (Windows 8.1; 64-bit OS), opening and closing a previously saved pdf file, I constantly get a message pop-up that indicates a "database organizer" error.
How do I fix this?
I have read multiple responses at various forums and they do not seem to apply, or have not worked for others, with regard to the details of my version of Acrobat and Windows OS.
I'm beginning to think that the only solution is to purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro and install it on my PC, which, of course, I would prefer not to do, unless this is my only viable option.
Can this problem, specific to my version of Acrobat and Windows OS, be fixed or is the simple answer: purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro, because there is no fix for my version of Acrobat/Windows OS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Issue with Windows Photo Viewer: "can't save picture because an unknown error occured"
Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). I quite often have an issue in Windows Photo Viewer when rotating an image and trying to go to the next picture. It gives me the error "Windows Photo Viewer can't save picture because an unknown error occured".
Seperate from this issue: when I delete a picture in Windows Photo Viewer, it is still in the Windows Explorer overview of files. This did not use to be the case in Windows XP?
Kind regards,
FrederikHi
SOSv2 ,
This should be fixed in Windows 7 RTM.
Also, you can install Windows Live Photo Gallery to view and rotate pictures as well. To download it, please click
HERE . For more information about Windows Live Photo Gallery, you can
a question on
Windows Live Answers
In addition, please understand that Nikon RAW images (and most Canon) do not support rotate functionality in Windows Photo Viewer, and thus rotate is
disabled. To rotate those types of images, the user will need to use an image editing program that fully supports their RAW codec.
Regards,
Linda
I am using Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM and still have this problem (with JPG's dumped from my Nikon to the hard drive). Doesn't do it on every one that I rotate, but still very annoying. Is there a fix? -
Windows Roles & Features "error" issue.
Hi,
I have a virtual server windows 2008 R2 Standard ed. it was working fine earlier. Now I had a task to install .net framework 4.5 and MSMQ on this server. When I tried to install, I found Roles & Feature option in Server manager displays "error"
and do not open. It displays error message as : Unexpected error refreshing Server Manager: No signature was present in the subject. (exception from HResult: 0x800B0100).
I am not able to enable roles and Features. I have installed .net framework 4.5 but not able to install SP1 on this sever.
SP1 installation displays error and suggests to go through the Url for kb/947821.
I tried to fix the issue by using command sfc/scannow and run the tool as per link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821.
CheckSUR. log displays some mum and cat file missing as below

I tried to download these files manually and installed/extracted as suggested in the URL http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2461206
But these files are not correcting and Still Roles and Feature "error " and SP1 installation issue.
Windows updates are installed successfully.
I tried to fix the issue using command prompt using DISM but still displays the above error message, Even powershell could not enable to features.
Kindly help me to fix the issue.

Solution for "Database Connector Error: 'Unexpected'" issue
**NOTE -- reposting as the previous post became corrupted.
Some customers have encountered an issue in Crystal Reports when attempting to report from Salesforce.com data.
The problem looks like this. You are able to log in successfully to your Salesforce.com instance. However, when you attempt to expand your Salesforce.com connection, you get an error that states - Database Connector Error: 'Unexpected' - and you are unable to proceed.
This problem occurs because the JVM Heap Size setting for the Salesforce.com driver is not large enough to handle the number of objects (tables) in your Salesforce.com instance. This problem is easily resolved by increasing this setting and then restarting Crystal Reports.
The default CRConfig.xml path for CR 2008 is : C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java
You will find the JVM setting in <DataDriverCommon> section.
<JVMMaxHeap>64000000</JVMMaxHeap>
<JVMMinHeap>32000000</JVMMinHeap>
It will vary as to how much you need to increase your heap size to access your Salesforce.com instance. If you change the JVMMaxHeap to 128000000 that should be sufficient for most users but you may need to increase it further.test

12c Cloud Control installtion issue (on Windows 7-64 bit)
Hello,
I am trying to install 12c Cloud Control on my personal computer Windows 7 (64-bit) OS for practice purpose. The database setup has been fine and the creation of pluggable database has been successful post which we need to install the cloud control setup. There is an issue at "Step 6 of 9" where we are required to provide the database Configuration Details. The details are: Database Host Name, Port, SID, SYS password. After providing these details it shows the following error:
"There was a problem connecting to the database on the host and port specified. Check to make sure the host is up or that the database listener is running on that host."
My understanding is:
Database Host Name: it is the fully qualified name of my computer, which in my case is "SRIDHAR-PC".
I ran the following script and it confirmed the same:
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE()UTL_INADDR.GET_HOST_NAME
Port: the default port "1521" that I have provided and which I have not configured anywhere during installation. So it is the default one.
SID: The SID of the pluggable database being asked and. In this case it is "PLUGDB"
SYS password: The password of the sys account.
How do I resolve this error?I am sorry for having asked this question outside the forum that I am supposed to for the issue. Progressing further on the issue, yes I have tried connecting them using the credentials and it succeeds connecting the database. On digging further I found that I have been installing the 12c Cloud Control setup on 12c database with pluggable-container database architecture, unfortunately which the 12c Cloud Control EM does not support to be installed on. To install the 12c EM Cloud Control we need to install it on either of the two databases:
1) A pre-12c instance, i.e. 11g database (OR)
2) 12c database installed as a regular installation (as we install the 11g DB) which is not installed as a container-pluggable database combination (This option needs to be selected at the time of database installation).
Oracle can support monitoring the databases which contain the container-pluggable database structure along with the single instance and RAC architecture, but to install the EM Cloud Control setup, it cannot be installed on DB's which consists container-pluggable structure. -

How can I check if some firewall is blocking the connection, or its a port issue... or maybe something wrong in the configuration, but chances are very less for this.
Kindly help if you have gone thru such an error.
Regards, ImranHi,
In the listener.ora you have -
(program = tg4msql)
but with 11g gateways the executable name has been changed and you should change the entry to -
(program = dg4msql)
then stop and start the listener.
If you installed the gateway into an existing ORACLE_HOME then the gateway version must be the same version as the software already installed.
For example, if the existing software was 11.2.0.4 and you installed 11.2.0.1 gateway this will give you problems and most likely the gateway executable will be 0 (zero) in size.

Problems installing 8i - TNSNames Listener error
I have just finished installing Oracle 8i (8.1.7) from CDs. I installed
both the enterprise ed. and client disks.
It failed on the step where it tried to create a database.
I'm getting the following error in my Windows NT Event Log:
The OracleOracleTNSListener service failed to start due to the following error:
Access is denied
It appears that there is a Listener, and Names Server configured on my machine
(I see them in Configuration Wizards.)
I'm sure it is a configuration issue, and don't know how to resolve it.

Edited by: user4306972 on Dec 9, 2009 1:02 AMI've already given you several suggestions: "surely you realize that Win 2000 server didn't even exist until long after 8i was fully *DE*-supported ..."
That means 8i was never certified on Win 2000. That means there's no guarantee that you can install it, or that it will work after installed.
But if you are determined to go down this totally uncertified, unsupported path, my only suggestion is to go back and read ... and heed ... all the points in the fine installation guide. Particularly the part about installing the loopback. Don't assume "I don't need that". Just do what the install guide says. -
i was away from Oracle for around 6-7 months and now i am back in it.
i was trying to install Oracle 32-bit 10.2 on windows 2003 enterprise edition.
i installed it without any issues. i didnt enable to option on creating the default database which comes along with Oracle installation.
later after installation i created a database throught dbca (not manually).
once i created the database, i tried to log into the database through command line and faced a oaa-12154 error. i restarted the listener and even edited the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files.
i also ran the netca and restarted the listener. i am confused as to what is causing the error the OracleServoceSID service is running
can someone please guide me as to what is going wrong?

Connect to Oracle through ODBC - TNS: No Listener Error
Hi All,
I've been trying to chase this problem down for over a month now and I have had no luck. When I try to connect to an Oracle server through MS Access I get the TNS: No Listener error. When I type lsnrctl start in the command prompt it says it has been already started.

I suggest you move, remove, rename, delete or otherwise move the listener.ora file out of the way.
listener.ora is NOT required to start or utilize the listener
open Command Window after doing as directed above then issue the OS commands below
lsnrctl stop
lsnrctl start
lsnrctl status
# now wait 60+ seconds before issuing the next command below
lsnrctl service

Database connector error:Unexpected when connecting to salesforce in CR2008
ISSUE:: Unable to connect to salesforce in CR2008 as when he tries to select the table in the Database expert he gets an error 'Database connector error: Unexpected' however he is able to connect to salesforce and then select the tables using CR XI R2
Observed Behavior:
- The customer is able to connect to salesforce and then select the tables in CR XI R2 however when he tries to select the table through CR 2008 he gets an error 'Database connector error: Unexpected'.
- He does not have an issue switching Windows accounts. He can log in to Salesforce.com from Crystal Reports XIR2 and 2008 using a SFDC account with restricted access from my Windows account. However, he is not able to log in to SFDC using the system administrator SFDC account in Crystal Reports 2008, but is able to using Crystal Reports XIR2. This applies to the production and sandbox SFDC environment.
- He can update data on all reports using CR2008 if the report was created in CRXIR2. He cannot access any data from reports created with CR2008.
Expected Behavior:
- Should be able to select the tables and create reports based off it.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Crystal Reports 2008 and then connect to salesforce with the credentials provided by the user i.e.
test.nussbaumer @cit.com.test
crystal2008
token: LxYbugxsVmGpRL1QOVIC2q0e '
This gives an error:
'Logon failed. Details: Unexpected Error; nested exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: www.salesforce.com
What has been done so far:
-Have tried the repair on CR 2008 but didn't help.
- The customer has tried some user credentials for a different user in his SFDC instance and was also able to login. He realized that only the system administrator is not able to login. Customer had sent the sample credentials for a test system administrator profile in his sandbox environment. (test.salesforce.com) , used that on my end to connect however it gave the error :'Logon failed. Details: Unexpected Error; nested exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: www.salesforce.com'
test.nussbaumer @cit.com.test
crystal2008
token: LxYbugxsVmGpRL1QOVIC2q0e
To access the Sandbox, he uses test.salesforce.com as the server when connecting with Cyrstal Reports 2008.
- He reset the password and received the same error. He can access Salesforce.com with CR XI R2, but not with CR2008.
- He set up a new computer with only JDK 1.4 on it, using Windows XP Professional and received the same error. His comments:
( I don't believe that this has anything to do with the JDK version, but rather with the size of the metadata in SFDC. If I login as the administrator, I receive the error in CR2008. However, as mentioned before, if I login as a standard user I am able to use CR2008.)
We tried resetting the User Security token by follwoing the below steps(A security token is not needed for login as I am using a trusted network by SFDC):
Steps for Resetting a User Security Token:
1.) To reset your security token, click Setup | My Personal Information | Reset Security Token, and click the Reset Security Token button. The new security token is sent via email to the email address on your Salesforce user record.
2.) You will need to login by entering your username and then your password + security token (without the +).
- Modified the CRConfig.XML file for the proxy server settings and then tried connecting to pull up the tables however still gave the same error.
Configuration:
Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600
CRXIR2 - 11.5.9.1076
CR2008 - 12.0.0.683
J2SE Development Kit 1.5.0.60
He is using JDK 1.6 (file: jre1.6.0_05). He tried installing JDK 1.4 and pointing to the file: jre1.4.2_17 but had no success.
