Database mirror between two domain

I setting up database mirror between two domain that will help me migrate from SQL 2008R2 to SQL 2012 :
It is set up as follows:
Domain A(Old domain) - Server A
Domain B (New Domain for HA/DR setup) - Server B and Server C (Already configured as FCI and AG)
I want to migrate data from Server A to Server B using database mirror.
I set up the
Created Master key, endpoint and certificate on the Server A
Created Master key, endpoint and certificate on the Server B
Backup certificate on both sides and copy to each server
Create inbound connections on both principal and mirror partner. Here I created two SQL logins
SQLSrvA_login
SQLSrvB_logi
Grant connect on endpoint to both logins on both principal and mirror partner.
Everything seems ok as can be seen below
Principal partner:
grantee endpoint permission state_desc
SQLSrvA_login        Hadr_endpointCONNECT      GRANT
SQLSrvB_loginHadr_endpointCONNECT GRANT
Mirror partner:
grantee endpoint permission state_desc
SQLSrvA_login        Hadr_endpoint CONNECT      GRANT
SQLSrvB_login Hadr_endpoint CONNECT GRANT
Perform a full db backup and log backup on ServerA and restore to  ServerB with norecovery
When trying to establish the partnership, it succeeded on the mirror partner ServerB but failed on the principal partner ServerA with the following error
Msg 1418, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
The server network address "TCP://ServerB:5022" can not be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints are operational.
The following error is in the SQL errorlog:
Database Mirroring login attempt failed with error: 'Connection handshake failed. There is no compatible authentication protocol. State 21
Any ideal why this is occurring?
Thanks

How to create Trust between two domain:

    Hi,
By default, two-way, transitive trusts are automatically created when a new domain is added to a domain tree or forest root domain using the Active Directory Installation

  • Replication between two domains is failing. Help!

can you confirm the trust between these two IS a TWO way transitive trust ?
as the description given reads like it is just one way

I have a symptom that I need to solve:I have two domains that are members of a forest with a trust set up between them.I can map drives no problem for users in Domain N where the share exists on Domain A.If I try and do the revers, the mappings don't work.If I try and navigate directly to the share the following error pops up with a request for a username and passord:"The system has detected a possible attempt to compromise security"Entering in the user's credentials works.Trying to troubleshoot it, led me to AD replication issues.AD Replication status tool (which is amazing btw) shows the following errors:Textlast sync result. • Password synchronization between two domains

    Hey everybody,
we have currently the situation, where we comes to password synchronization between Domain A and Domain B. Trust relationships are not possible caused we need separated authentications between productive network and user tools.
    So we would sync from Domain A (windows 2008 R2) --> Domain B (windows 2008 R2)
Domain B would also replicate per Okta to Office365 Cloud.
Now my question, could anyone point me in the right direction, what tools are usefully on the market to accomplish these issues.
    Sorry for my limited english.
    Best and thanks

You can try using FIM with PCNS to sync passwords from Domain A to Domain B: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj590203(v=ws.10).aspx
As for Office 365, you can simply implement an ADFS platform and federate it so that your users will be using their AD passwords. It is also possible to sync passwords with DirSync.

  • Sharing virtualized database server between two Sharepoint farms (intranet and extranet)

We have a Sharepoint 2010 intranet farm and are currently getting ready to upgrade the Sharepoint 2007 extranet farm to 2010.  Can these two farms share the same database server (same SQL Server 2008 instance)?  SQL Server is running on a virtual
machine with 24GB of RAM.  From my research it looks like theoretically they can but in practice do I need to consider other factors such as processing power and other burdens on the db server?  The web server for intranet is on the company's internal
network.  The web server for the extranet will be in the DMZ.
    Content database sizes:
    - intranet: 60GB
    - extranet: 30GB
Total estimated number of users (total for both): around 500 users.

Why does the upgrade relates to both farms being supported on the same SQL Server instance ?
Do you mean you plan to take the 2007's content database and attach it to the 2010 Farm ? To use
stsadm -o addcontentdb command ? In the end of the process, you'll have a single 2010 Farm ?
If so, then, yes. As long as SQL Server 2008 must be 64bit with SP1, and disk latency cannot be sluggish.
But if the plan is to migrate all farm databases, and have all SharePoint databases coexisting on the same SQL instance, then you will have to work your way if both farms use the default database names SharePoint_Config, WSS_Content, WSS_Logging.

  • Database Mirroring Login Accounts

I need to setup database mirroring between 2 separate SQL 2012 instances. The documentation states that if the 2 server instances are running under different user accounts then these need to be manually created on both instances. Is this login account the
account that was used when installing SQL or is it the account assigned to run the SQL server service account?
    Thanks
    Alistair

If the server instances run as different user accounts, user logins on the server instance that hosts the principal server or primary replica must be manually reproduced on the server instance that hosts the mirror server or on every server instance that
hosts a secondary replica. For more information, see Create a Login for a Different Account and Grant
Connect Permission, later in this topic.
I am still unsure what it means when it refers to
'If the server instances run as different user accounts'. Is this the account that shows in services under our instance 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)?
    Thanks
    Did you read below example(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms366346.aspx#CreateLogin)
For example, for the server instance sqlA, which runs under loginA, to connect to the server instance sqlB, which runs under loginB, loginA must be in the
syslogins table on sqlB, and loginB must be in the syslogins table on sqlA. In addition, for a database mirroring session that includes a witness server instance (sqlC) and in which the three server instances run under different
domain accounts, the following logins must be created:
    On instance...
Create logins for and grant connection permission to ...
    sqlA
    sqlB and sqlC
    sqlB
    sqlA and sqlC
    sqlC
    sqlA and sqlB
    Note
It is possible to connect with the network service account by using the machine account instead of a domain user. If the machine account is used, it must be added as a user on the other server instance.
    Is it still unclear

  • Authentication needed after doing trust between two different domains.

    Hi There,
I have a problem when i did the trust relationship between two different domains in two different forests ,,in the trust relationship steps all working two ways trust, with external trust, stub zone created on both domains and they are validated in both sides
,,my problem is with the objects it can't be retrieved from side and it can be from the other side . For instance :
NY domain can get the users and computers of 2012DC1
but 2012DC1 can't get the users and computers of NY
Date and time are the same,i am always getting this error
The session setup from computer '2012DC1' failed because the security database does not contain a trust account 'test.com.' referenced by the specified computer.
    USER ACTION
If this is the first occurrence of this event for the specified computer and account, this may be a transient issue that doesn't require any action at this time.  If this is a Read-Only Domain Controller and 'test.com.' is a legitimate machine account
for the computer '2012DC1' then '2012DC1' should be marked cacheable for this location if appropriate or otherwise ensure connectivity to a domain controller  capable of servicing the request (for example a writable domain controller).  Otherwise,
the following steps may be taken to resolve this problem:
If 'test.com.' is a legitimate machine account for the computer '2012DC1', then '2012DC1' should be rejoined to the domain.
If 'test.com.' is a legitimate interdomain trust account, then the trust should be recreated.
Otherwise, assuming that 'test.com.' is not a legitimate account, the following action should be taken on '2012DC1':
If '2012DC1' is a Domain Controller, then the trust associated with 'test.com.' should be deleted.
If '2012DC1' is not a Domain Controller, it should be disjoined from the domain.
Can you please help me in this error.
    Thank You in advance.

    Hello,
"The session setup from computer '2012DC1' failed because the security database does not contain a trust account 'test.com.' referenced by the specified computer. "
This belongs to the machine 2012Dc1 in test.com and not to the other domain from your trust. Seems for me that you mix the trust with the problems of the machine 2012DC1 in test.com.
In this error message 2012DC1 has lost the trust to its OWN domain and therefore you have to find the reason. How exactly was this machine installed?
Or was there a restore on that machine from not supported type of backup like image/clone/snapshot?

  • Mirrored Storage between two servers

    Hello,
Is it possible to create redundant storage using two Windows 2012 r2 servers?  I've been looking all over and any HA options always reference having external shared storage presented to the cluster (I assume NAS/SAN).  I am also assuming that said
posts expect that whatever tech is being used for shared storage deals with keeping that data fault tolerant (e.g., mirrored SAN) and the Windows cluster need not be aware of that happening in the background.
Due to lack of any storage hardware in my environment I was hoping there was a way to create a redundant file share/system between two Windows 2012 r2 servers at which point I could then create an iSCSI target to present a virtual drive to an application
server cluster.  That way if one of the "storage servers" fails it won't take down the application running on the app server.  I looked into DFS however since the app locks its files those won't replicate across.
I hope my question wasn't too convoluted.
    Thanks for any guidance!

    Hi Bkboudreau,
If I am not misunderstand your question, you are finding the method for iSCSI target servers synchronize iSCSI data.
Replication of data between sites is very important in a multi-site cluster, and is accomplished in different ways by different hardware vendors. You can choose the hardware
storage vendor solution when you want to synchronize data between two shared storage.
You cannot use the feature in Windows Server 2008 called Distributed File System Replication (DFS-R) as your data replication method in a multi-site cluster. DFS-R only performs
its data replication after a file is closed. This works well for files such as documents, presentations, or spreadsheets, but it will not work for files that are held open, such as databases or virtual machines. You must choose a replication option other than
    DFS-R.

  • Sharing One iPhoto Database Between Two Accounts

Below is a reply to a question I have regarding sharing photos with my wife on the same Mac. I would like for us both to able to upload, edit, and use photos from the same iPhoto database. Do all of the buggaboos listed in the reply below still apply?

Re: Sharing Photo's on the same iMac between two user accounts

    Tom
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

OK. You will need to make sure the ip addresses you assign to your vms are in the same subnet as the adapter create by the installation of vmware. Once you get the fundamental network setup fixed, you can treat these vms just like any machine in your data center. Forget the vm console and access them exactly like you would any remote server -- putty for the linux machine and Windows Remote Desktop for the Windows machine.
At a command prompt on the host, issue this:
c:> ipconfig -allYou will get back info on several net adapters, two of which are identified as being with vmware -- vmNet1 and vmNet8. Note the IP addresses of both. We'll need it later.
You will also need to know how you configured the network adapters on your vm's -- NAT, bridged, hostonly, ???
Note that these issues are out of scope for this forum. I don't mind helping, but I no longer have a vmware installation to reference details.
What have you actually tried to do? ( Data Transfer )I tried to exchange data from windows database  to linux DB
That's pretty vague. Exactly how did you try to "exchange data"? A sql statement using a db_link? export/import? Carrier Pigeon?

I don't know ,  how to configure ip and necessary information  for windows database.
Configuring an IP address is purely an OS admin issue and is out of scope for this database forum.

  • Best approach to synchronize data between two oracle database remotely

    Hi All,
We have requirement to synchronize data between custom application database and EBS database. Thw two database is on different location connected by 128 kbps connection.
The synchronization will do the following task :
    - Download customer table from EBS (I have checked there are only 2000 rows of it)
    - Up load billing data to EBS auto invoice interface table
    The question is :
What approach is the best way to do this synchronization task ? some that come into my mind :
    - create database link and run stored procedure to do the batch update ?
    - for Customer synchronization, is it a good idea to create Materialized view so that any update to EBS customer data will be updated, refreshed nightly
    - or is ther any better approach ?

  • Connection Between Two Databases

    Hi,
I have two databases called DBS1 and DBS2. Both are in one system. I need link between these two databases. I want a query as follows.
    select * from cust@DBS2; # from DBS1
    select * from temp_cust@DBS1; # from DBS2
Is possible link between DBS1 and DBS2.
Can any one tell me how to link these two databases each other.
    Best Regards,
    Nilopher.
    null

    Nilopher,
You can connect to two different Oracle databases by creating a database link. When you say that both databases are in one system I assume you mean two databases on the same server. To create a database link you can do the following:
    While logged onto DBS1:
    create database link dbs2
connect to username identified by password
    using 'dbs2.world'
Username and password are the user and password you want to connect as in dbs2.
If you want everyone to be able to access the database link you can say create public database link... otherwise only the user that created the database link can use it.
This should work assuming the database server tnsnames.ora file looks like this:
    dbs2.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL= TCP)(Host= hostname)(Port= 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = dbs2))
If your databases are on two different servers you'd have to look at each one's tnsnames.ora file and make sure each one had an entry for the other's database.
I believe the database link name must be the same as the SERVICE_NAME if the parameter GLOBAL_NAMES=TRUE, if it's FALSE you can name it something else. By default this parameter is set to TRUE so I called the database link in the example dbs2.
You can then access data from dbs2 while logged into dbs1 exactly how you said:
    select * from cust@DBS2;
You can then repeat the process to do the same thing on dbs2 to connect to dbs1.
    Hope this helps.
