Database sql server 2005 instalation problem.

I have installed sql server 2005 (server) and on another computer installed client. It installed successfully but on client side it does not seen, from where should i start it. so please send me procedure to install sql server 2005 on both side(client and server).

SQL Server 2005 Vista Problems

I have 3 databases in SQL Server 2005 that I want to connect
to. Everything works fine in XP, but when I try to set it up on
Vista I get all sorts of problems. All software is latest version
with all available updates installed.
After restarting the Vista computer, the first database I
select in CF administrator connects successfully, but the other two
return Connection Reset error. It doesn't matter which of the 3 I
select, just the first one connects.
However, whichever one it is that CF confirmed was
successful, when accessed from a CF page also returns Connection
Reset error.
The security settings in SQL Server are the same for each
database.
Anyone got any idea how to solve this problem??

The one that was connecting was connecting to port 1434. I
have now locked it down and only port 1433 is available. Now I get
the same error every time I try to make a connection:
Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect
Apart from the port number (which was not 1433 on my old XP
computer) everything else is identical.
Is there some setting in Vista out of the box that has to be
changed to get CF to connect to SQL Server 2005?

MS SQL Server 2005 Capture Problem

Hi Friends
I am looking to migrate SQL Server 2005 standard edition to oracle 10g. for that I am using oracle SQL Developer workbench tool 1.5.3 but I am getting error while capturing the MS SQL Server database.
One thing I noticed, after creating repository database that Under the repository schema the package body for MD_META* package is showing Invalid, I tried to compile it manually but still its in Invalid state I don't know the reason why it's in Invalid state.
My Detals are as below
Oracle 10.2g Standard edition without any patchset.
MS SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition
SQL Developer 1.5.3
Please can anybody help me out in this issue ? Waiting for your reply

SQL Server 2005 - CDC problem - real / float type

Dear Sirs,
I test the functionality of CDC in Business Objects Data Services 4.0 (14.0.1.245).
I am using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.
I made all the steps in accordance with the Designer Guide.
I see a table with the changes, I can change the target system using this information but I have one problem.
I have a problem with the real / float type.
If I make changes in the column real / float (in the table), tha I always see the number -999.000000.
Does anyone know how to deal with thie bug?

Sounds very much like a bug to me. I have seen these things in the past with regular tables whenever we had an issue around regional settings. Can you change your computer locale and SQL server language to english to proof it is that and keep it as a workaround for now?

Think that i have above 2 tables in SQL server 2005.
select * from table1 where T1Col1 in ( select T1Col1 from Table2)
should i except error for the above query ?
But SQL server 2005 is not giving any error , it is simple resulting all rows from Table1

You will not receive any type of error because T1Col1 does exist in Table1 and even inside the parens
you are still within the context of the same query, the reason for this is that SQL Server allows you to use the values of the outer table inside the inner condition, you will find tons of examples of this usage when people use exists, here is one that's perfectly
valid:
select *
from table1
where exists (select 1 from Table2 where T1Col1 = T2Col1)
so in your particular query what's happening is that you're selecting a kind of "constant" value in your inner query, similar to doing this:
select 'constant' as myCol from Table2;
just that the 'constant' value is really coming from your outer table.

HELP - SQL Server Express Install Problems

The SQL Server Express completed without error. However, when I tried to connect to the SQLEXPRESS instance I received one of those wonderful MS errors, "Specified file not found". WHAT FILE? (After all these years MS still can't figure out how
to give an error msg. that provides some hint of what's wrong.) Going on, I started the install console and selected the REPAIR option. (It didn't ask what the problem was, it just ran.) It did ask what instance needed repair. I told
it SQLSERVER. It proceeded to repairing it. My first hint that their repair function worked as well as their error handling was when I got the: That share name has already been used (or something like that) error (notice, MS didn't tell me what
share name, or what aspect of the db they were talking about). After pressing OK, the REPAIR function proceeded to run to completion. When I reviewed the REPAIR report I found that three db processes all had the same SHARE NAME ALREADY USED error.
Actually, I thought that it was no big deal. If this was a real REPAIR, it shouldn't matter that the name was already used because everything else should be the same. (I know I'm nigh eve about the
Intricacies of SQL server.) After repairing my installation, I brought up the SQL Server Management Console again. This time, it did not display SQLEXPRESS in the Connect field. I selected the drop down list arrow to see if it was
listed and the list was blank so I entered SQLEXPRESS in the connect field and clicked on the CONNECT button. I got a NETWORK PATH NOT FOUND error. So, before I really mess things up, I thought I should ask if anyone knows what I should do
next. (As an aside, I've pressed the MS Error Message HELP button numerous times abut various errors I've received over the years. Not only are MS error messages useless, their Help Page has never ONCE been able to provide any information
about the encountered error. MS should spend some time and develop some truly helpful error messages as "File not found" and unknown error code 837289 are absolutely useless and especially since their HELP PAGE is never able to provide any
information either. I do wonder how I can get Unknown Error codes from people who wrote the code that raises the error. Don't they document anything?)

I did read the requirements and made sure I met them all. The install package I used was: SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe. You're correct. I'm not familiar with SQL Server.
I downloaded SQL Server Express and Visual Studio Express to learn and explore because I wanted to learn about the new technology.
After leaving my message, I did some more studying and playing with the system. I managed to figure out that I had to turn on the data base service before I could connect with it. I'm sorry, I don't understand how Microsoft could install a data
base system without turning on its services. Why would I want to install something and NOT use it? The default should be ON and the setup manager should provide a choice to set it to OFF on the configuration page.
My experience is rather dated. I had to retire due to a disability in 2005. I couldn't control my arms and hands. The doctor recently tried a medication again that I had had a severe negative reaction to. He first administered steroids
and started me on a small dose and titrated it up as I was able to handle it. Now I have some days where I have pretty good control — I can print a little but can't write well and other days where I can't print, write, or feed myself.
I have performed many functions. I have been an analyst, a programmer, a data base designer, and a college professor at three different colleges. I've done extensive work in process automation and have even automated the management functions
for a data base system that was used to schedule every aspect of all the aircraft, ranges, and weapons development processes on Eglin AFB. I also wrote major pieces of the code used by the system and trouble shot and corrected functions written by other
programmers. The system supported over 300 users a day on two bases. Unfortunately it was developed in Fortran on a VAX and with VB6 and MS Access using VBA, Queries, Tables and Forms on networked PCs.
I plan to do a lot of reading. I'll also be looking at the Microsoft sites for a sample DB and lessons to go with it. I am a little frustrated with how information is organized on the web. The other night I needed to find some information
about something from Microsoft. It took me almost two hours to ask my question in such a way that MS was able to provide what I wanted. I kept asking essentially the same thing, but I had to use the exact phrase MS used on the page. I know
MS is big and they support multiple generations of each product. They have an almost impossible task. I just have to find the various product entry pages.

MS SQL Server 2005 connection problem?

I am a beginner in these things, so be patient please. I have established database connection with my MS SQL 2005 server with a 3rd party JDBC driver. Testing databasae connection was successfull, but there are no tables from my created database in JDeveloper. Instead of my tables there are some for me unknown tables. Can anybody help me with this problem? just ask for further information.

Cannot connect to Oracle 11gR2 database from SQL Server 2005

Both SQL Server (Windows) and Oracle (Linux) are in 64bit environments.
I have done the following on a Windows 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2005:
Install InstantClient from Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) to C:\Oracle
Install oledb from 64-bit ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) for Windows x64 by executing install.bat oledb c:\oracle odac
Note: Not sure whether 11.2.0.2.1 version of ODAC will cause any problem since I cannot find 11.2.0.1.0 version.
I have checked the Allow inprocess of OraOLEDB.Oracle provider in SSMS.
I have executed sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'ORACLE_TEST', @srvproduct = 'Oracle', @provider = 'OraOLEDB.Oracle', @datasrc = '##.##.##.##:1521/TEST'
The ##.##.##.## is the ip address of the Linux server which has the Oracle 11gR2 database TEST.
I have executed sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname = 'ORACLE_TEST', @useself = 'FALSE', @rmtuser = 'xxxx', @rmtpassword = 'yyyy'
The xxxx is the oracle username and yyyy is the password for the oracle user xxxx.
I know the oracle database TEST is up since I have setup connection in Oracle SQL Developer having:
##.##.##.## as the hostname
1521 as the Port
xxxx as the username
yyyy as the password
TEST as the service name
When I click Test Connection for the linked server ORACLE_TEST in SSMS, it just hang.
When I issue a query like select count(*) from oracle_test..xxxx.table1, it just run forever. I'm not so sure how to query an oracle table. I have also tried select count(*) from oracle_test.xxxx.xxxx.table1.
When I retype the password in the Linked Server Properties, it just run forever.
Do I need to create a tnsnames.ora on the Windows machine?
Do I need to change the tnsnames.ora on Linux machine?
I'm very new to Oracle.

I tried to install the database (sql server 2005) using the local admin password on another server which do not have the antivirus installed. I started the installation at 3:15 PM today and the installation is still in progerss

Siebel database migration from Sql Server 2005 to Oracle 11g RAC.

We would like to migrate our Siebel database from Sql Server 2005 to Oracle 11g RAC. Can you suggest the best way to do that ?
The current configurations are:
Application : Siebel
database : SQL Server 2005
The hardware can be changed if needed. Can you please suggest the best approach ?

You will need a Siebel professional which has done this type of migration. Migrating the Database is not a task so hard, after migrating your environment should be functional and healthy it is usually the task problematic.
The hardware can be changed if needed. Can you please suggest the best approach ?We can recommend the minimum recommended, but this documentation already does, you need to do a analysis on your environment and ask a vendor Siebel tell the which is recommended for you and how to find the best "number" for you, in your case is very hard because everything changes.

OWB 11.0.0.7 and SQL SERver 2005

We did search quite a bit but couldnt get this working...
We are using OWB 11.1.0.7 64bit on Windows 2003 Server 64bit R2
We have to pull data from a SQl Server database – SQL SERVER 2005 64 bit on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit
WE followed the procedures given in Oracle documentation –
1. creating a ODBC DSN connection
2. creating a init ora file for that connection
3. creating a listener
We tried with both HSODBC and DG4ODBC... We can connect to SQL server through OWB...the connection is successful but I cannot import the tables into OWB. It simply hangs forever. (in the init ora file we have put the HS_FDS_SUPPORT_STATISTICS=FALSE) We have to pull data from SQL server on an ongoing basis. However we found a workaround – we can create a remote link to the SQL server database by creating an entry in the tnsnames. However this connection is very slow – we have to pull thousands of records on daily basis. IT takes quite some time to do this. We have tried different combinations after Goodling.
Could you shed some light on this? Is it a bug in OWB 11.1 that we cannot connect to SQL Serer or are we missing something? Will it be ok if we go for 11.2?

Be wary about the differences between initialization settings for generic ODBC vs specific SQLServer gateway, they are different.

The installation guide has details in the SQLServer section for when the SQLServer gateway is used that you should follow (specifically under configuring SQL Server Views for Data Dictionary support - needed for importing tables definitions into OWB when you use SQLServer gateway);

If you have an existing database link this can be used in OWB. When importing the tables you need to be aware that if it is a SQLServer gateway you will need to configure the SQLServer instance as in the gateway doc above). Just because you can query table data does not mean the gateway is configured properly.

Database Connection Problem-SQL SERVER 2005

I have been struggling with this database connection.I have installed sql server 2005 in my PC and i am trying to connect to the Database Adventity.But it is showing port 1432 invalid.I have placed sqljdbc jar in my lib folder.If i dont specify Database name then it will print hi Message..if i specify Database name then the error will come.

SQL Server 2005 Database connecting problem

Hi,
I have installed MDM 5.5 SP06 - 64bit servers, 32bit clients and SQL server 2005 in Vista 64 bit operating system.
But I can't able to connect the server...
I believe sa is reserved user name but in SQL server management studio I couldn't able to connect the server and registered the Server.
Can you guys please guide me in this regard how to fix this problem ASAP?

Thanks for your time and help, but I couldn't able to see the database itself.
as I know my computer name is database name but SQL Server is not providing that.
and its showing network data base names.
If I type the database name and user is sa...but there is no luck in connecting...
is there any way that we can define server name and user names??? also it doesn't ask for any database name or user name during installation of SQL Server 2005
I'm not a SQL person so, please help me in this regard.
