Databased diagram and business components

Hi,
I am using Jdev release 1 (11.1.1.3.0) to create a database diagram out of the BC entities. I would have thought that as long as i had specified ERD notation, my diagram would not look like UML based one (.e.g associations without crawfoot etc)., but it does.
Can someone please confirm.
Thanks,

Is it possible to generate the database tables from a set of existing business components?
This would be a handy feature to have, similar with JPA tables generation based on Entity Beans.

  • Nested Tables and Business Components

    Hi,
We have developed a paradigm whereby all of our tables are of object types. In one example we haveL
    create type addresslines_nt as table of varchar2(30);
    We have another type:
    create type address_ot as object(
    lines addresslines_nt );
We create the TABLE off of address_ot with a nested table (store as) off LINES.
CREATE TABLE ADDRESS of ADDRESS_OT ....
In JDeveloper we want to create BUSINESS COMPONENTS and can not find a way for it (JDeveloper) to create a matching component for ADDRESS (the table) without it dropping a reference to the LINES property?
    HELP!
    Dave

BC4J version 3.2.x only supports VARRAY collection types.
BC4J 9i (which will come with JDeveloper 9i when it's release) supports both VARRAY and TABLE collection types.

  • Creating Business Components from Teradata tables

I'm trying to use the "business components from tables" wizard using a connection to a Teradata database. The business components get created without attributes. I'm getting an error where JDeveloper thinks that the Teradata table doesn't have a primary key. But I explicitly created the primary in the table (not be confused with a primary index, which is a different object from a Primary Key in Teradata). Am I really not supposed to use ADF to deal with Teradata data stores? I was hoping ADF would be able to work with databases other than Oracle. Is there maybe something special that needs to be done for the business components wizard to be able to recognize the primary key in the Teradata table? If we need to create all Teradata business objects manually then ADF isn't a goo option for Teradata.

I'm connecting via JDBC Generic. I'm using Teradata's JDBC driver. From a connection perspective everything works fine. I have the Teradata connection both as an IDE resource as well as an Application resource. When I expand the application connection it shows all schemas. I then expand my personal schema where I created the table with which I'm testing. It shows my table, all the table's columns, and under constraints it shows the table's primary key. But when I try to create the business components is when it somehow doesn't seem to recognize the table's primary key.

  • JBO-25001 Business Components Error

    Hi to all,
I am experiencing some VERY STRANGE behaviour in JDeveloper ADFBC.
I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.3984 to build an application using ADF and Business Components.
    I have four tables, JAAS_USERS, JAAS_ROLES, JAAS_REALMS and JAAS_MAPPINGS. The only associations are that JAAS_MAPPINGS have JAAS_USERS_ID, JAAS_ROLES_ID and JAAS_REALMS_ID.
I created my entities (package: datamodel.entities) and i have specified that JAAS_USERS entity use a DBSequence for USER_ID. Please note that i included control hints for every entity.
Then i created my first view (package: datamodel.views), called JaasUsers
that simply selects all attributes of the entity.
I then created an application module (package: datamodel) and i included the view. When i test the application module everything is fine!
I created a jsf and i dragged the view as a table -> read only table and everything was fine.
I then run the page and again everything is fine.
I then realized that i needed to change the control hint for some columns. Instead of changing the control hint of the entity (JAAS_USERS) i changed the object view (JAAS_USERS).
From this point and on NOTHING WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Here is the error message:
(oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolException) JBO-30003: The application pool (.110255D7D2E) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception:

Please help me becuase i don;t know hot to fix this BUG!

Hey ppl , I got an exact similar error when trying to migrate from a 10g R2 to R3 version in Jdeveloper. Quite irritating this error,
Well i guess most would have figured this out , but for benefit of all , theres a slightly easier way to tackle this ( JDEV Release 3)
in the Application Navigator view Double click your Association , within association properties un-check your expose accessor checkboxes for both the source and destination .Apply changes and do a compile. If it is required , jdev will throw an error. Simply follow the process again and check the Expose accessor boxes again. This solves the problem most of the time.
Main advantage being , you can avoid the tedious task of manually changing the xml information on Notepad or the kind.
    Hope this helps....

  • How to make a 1:1 cardinality in Jdev 102 Database Diagram?

hello, i want to make a database diagram, and have following problem:
    i need to create a ( 1 :1 ) cardinality between 2 tables, but jdeveloper always shows ( 1 : * ) each time i add a foreign key in table 1 referring to table 2
    question 1:
    anyone know about this?
    question2:
i have thought maybe i create a EJB diagram with java classes generated from the created tables, and then i determine the cardinality (1:1) between (java class 1) and (java class 2). is that an issue?
    question 3:
    in my database diagram:
    maybe i create 2 foreign keys :
    table1.ID ---------- (1:*) ----------> table2.ID
    table1.ID <---------- (*:1) ---------- table2.ID
    anyone has idea?
    thx for suggestions
    best regards

    hi again,
oupps , i forgot sthg else to mention:
the tables will be created directly in the diagram and are not exported as "offline tables" from an existant database
that means, the cardinality 1:1 does not yet exist , i must create the relation 1:1 directly in the diagram, but i could not :-(

  • [bug 10.1.3 EA1 Database Diagram]  edit error after schema change

If you change the schema of a table definition in a Database Diagram and then attempt to edit the table definition, you get the following error:
    Editing is disabled.
Error opening <table_name> - duplicate object definitions exist on the database path.
The current node is: <path to .table file in old schema folder>
Operations are diabled on all but the first object found on the database path: <path to .table file in new schema folder>
Workaround is to close JDeveloper and re-open. Table definitions are then editable.
    Johnny Lee

    Thanks for reporting this Johnny.
I was able to reproduce the problem in the EA1 release but it is working correctly in the latest build.
    Thanks again,
    Lisa

  • 10G preview java excpection in database diagram

I got java exception event i import tables into a package and a database diagram or drag them (multiselect) from schema structure into a database diagram. After this exception the relationships are no more present into the diagram and it is impossible to continue with another tables.
Is it somebody tracking bug in 10g ?
Are interesting by more details ?
Are you planing updates on the fly (check for updates option by example) to correct our installation periodically ?

First i created a new workspace and new empty project. Afterthat i create a connection to my database and test sucessfully. In the new project i created a new database diagram and move the connection pane and open the list of tables (tree). I selected the first occurence and go to the last, press the shift key and select the last also. So all the tables in the schema were selected. I dragged all the tables directly into the diagram. Some of them was correctly added in the diagram but the process did not fully complete.
After i deleted all and do the same the import wizard with something like the same problem. I'm not sure that i really deleted the files from the disk so i will not confirm that the problem was exactly the same. I will reproduce and give you more information.
    the database is 9.2.0.3.0
the os for both in windows xp sp1 (on the same machine for db and jdev)

  • Question: how to open a database diagram stored in subversion

I am new to Jdeveloper and am exploring Jdeveloper 11g TP4 interaction with subversion.
I created a project and then created a database diagram and added it to subversion.
On another computer that does not have the same project defined, I would like to access and open the database diagram. I can select the diagram in Subversion Navigator. The database diagram editor does not launch when I choose open from the context menu. Should it?
I am not grokking something and would appreciate any tips.

    atlr,
You cannot open the diagram directly from Subversion like that. You need to check out a copy in order to open it.
    Hope this helps,

  • Business Components diagram to Database Diagram AUTOMATICALLY Please.

    Hello,
We are using Jdev 10.1.2 and we have a beautiful business components diagram with all the entities and associations and would like to generate automatically a database diagram from that beauty, without effectively creating the tables. We wish to have a look at the data definition language script to be sure that we get what we expect, when we generate the tables.
Does anyone have any idea how to proceed ?
Thanks a lot for your co-operation.
Peace and Love to all of you !!!
    Jacques

    Jacques,
In JDeveloper 10.1.2, you will need to generate tables from your Entity Objects to the database first and then either drag and drop the tables from the Connections Navigator to the diagram, or import them to the Offline Database, and then drag them to the diagram from the Applications Navigator.
We are working on better integration between Business Components and the Offline Database/Database Modeling in future versions of JDeveloper.
    - John.

  • Possible Bug: Business Components and packaging preferences

    I'm using JDev 11g TP2
When I set up package preferences for business components, it is completely ignoring the package I setup for the Entity object.
    Example:
    From the menu Tools>Preferences
    Under the section Business Components>Packages.
    I set the following:
Business Component: left blank - it uses the default [prefix].model
    Entity: entity
    Association: entity.association
    View Object: view
    View Link: view.links
the rest have been left at default settings.
Then I create a new diagram so I can add existing database tables to the application. I drag and drop the selected tables from the application resources to the diagram. It creates the entity objects in the [prefix].model package, not the [prefix].model.entity package like I was expecting. However the associations get created correctly in the [prefix].model.entity.association package.
Is this possibly a bug, or just a training issue for me?
    Thanks

No worries Ric. Unfortunately I don't have access to your latest builds but I'll still raise the issues in case they are relevant.
    Regards,
    CM.

  • Associations and Links does not load when creating Business Components

    Hi guys,
I am having a problem when I create my business components from table. Let's say that I start a new fusion web application. I then create my business components, enter the proper database connection settings. After everything is done, I am only getting my entities and my views, without any associations and links.
The thing is that it worked the first time. Everything loaded as it should. I then asked a collegue of mine to try on his computer. Surprise, everything loads perfectly just like it did the first time I did it.
I then tried on one of my linux virtual machine, via the same PC that I am having the problem. Again, the same problem, even if this is another JDeveloper instance (vm).
I have read the thread 2187263 that mentions to re-create the DB connection. Again, it is not working.
Associations and View Links missing in JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.1.4
I saw this under the "Messages - Log" tab in JDeveloper :
    Aug 7, 2012 11:09:06 AM oracle.jdbc.driver
    SEVERE: 3F794B56 Throwing SQLException: 3
    Aug 7, 2012 11:09:06 AM oracle.jdbc.driver
SEVERE: 6C9DD8BE Throwing SQLException: ORA-00936: missing expression
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
Any help would do, since I do not want to uninstall JDeveloper and reinstall it again and again...

Yes. In SQL Developer, when I click "Modify" on one of my tables, and then on "Foreign Keys", I can see them all.
Like I said, it worked on a different workstation, and it worked before on my computer.
