DATAEXPORT Calc Script Command

Whether Data Export is faster than JEXPORT ? (True/False)

I tend to believe that Dataexport is good for bulk data export and Jexport is good for formatted data export.
Jexport gives you more flexibility as to which data with what condition needs to be extracted and maybe that's why it's still my favorite.

    Can we use Substitutional variables or Global variables in Business rule to specify the file export path, instead of hard coding it.
    Edited by: 974347 on Nov 30, 2012 4:36 PM

    This does work as a substitution variable is just a simple text replacement within a calc script. I have not tried to use a run time prompt for any other purpose than a member name substitution in a business rule, so I am unsure that you could do this. Give it a try and let us know if this works out. Thanks,

  • Using environmental variables in dataexport calc

    I'm using 11.1.2.1, and I thought I'd try this fancy new feature of using environmental variables in a DATAEXPORT calc script.
    I've played around quite a bit, and believe the following is true.
    The environmental variables must be the full path (including file name), that the export will write to.
    Assume the following:
    $DATAPATH = C:\data
    $FILEPATH = C:\data\export.txt
    If you try to export to $DATAPATH, it will error because there is no file name associated with that path.
    If you try to export to $FILEPATH, it will work just fine.
    Doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of using environmental variables if you need a different variable for each file name?
    My hope was that it worked like this:
    Assume the following:
    $DATAPATH = C:\data
    In our export calc, you could append values that are specific to that calc/app.
    e.g.
    For an App 1 Export:
    DATAEXPORT "File" "|" $DATAPATH/App1/filename.txt;
    For an App 2 Export:
    DATAEXPORT "File" "|" $DATAPATH/App2/filename.txt;
    Am I missing something here? Any input both confirming/denying the above is welcome.

    The dataexport command is very fussy about the file path as you have found out it only works you place the full path/filename in a variable.
    It is also possible to use substitution variables but once again I think you need to use the full path/filename - Re: MaxL with DATAEXPORT and passed parameters

  • Report script command equivalent for @relative calculation command

    HI ,
    We have a calculation script which has a fix statement like below :
         FIX( Grade, "w/o LO", "Line Options", AtLaunch, @DESCENDANTS("470.92"), @DESCENDANTS("Price Item"), @RELATIVE("Total Region", 0) )
    We are trying to make a reportscript which gives us the format of the set of database being calculated.
    So we are tranforming the above calc script commands into equivalent report script commands. We are struck with the @Relative command.
    Can somebody tell us what is the equivalent report script command for @Relative calculation script function.
    Regards
    OKU

    There's no direct analogue, but you can use the <LINK command along with <DESCENDANTS and <LEV to get pretty close. See: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/rwriter/link.htm
    JExport (if pre 9.3) or DATAEXPORT (if 9.3 or greater) may also be options and will in fact allow @RELATIVE to be used.

  • Is it possible to have a many to many calc script equation?

    Hi All,
    I'm thinking there has got to be an easy way to do this - but I've tried a bunch of different ways, and I've only been getting error messages.
    What I want to do is perform an allocation based on head count for a few dozen accounts. The allocation method will be the same for each account, and I wanted to write this in a single line rather than have dozens of lines, one for each account.
    For Example, the following works correctly for me ( Takes Total indirect salaries loaded to "Region Items" and allocates based on headcount loaded to each child of "Operations")
    FIX("Budget", @CHILDREN("Operations"))
    "Indirect Employee Salaries"
    = "Region Items"->"Indirect Employee Salaries" * "Office Staff - Employees" / "Operations"->"Office Staff - Employees";
    ENDFIX
    Because this allocation will be repeated for each account, I would like to have something similar to this:
    FIX("Budget",@CHILDREN("Operations"))
    @CHILDREN("Indirect")
    = "Region Items"->@CHILDREN("Indirect") * "Office Staff - Employees" / "Operations"->"Office Staff - Employees";
    ENDFIX
    However this change to the command gives me "Calc Script Command is Incomplete" warnings.

    You can do this with a "switch" on the fix etc.
    FIX(@CHILDREN("Indirect") ,@CHILDREN("Operations"))
    "Budget"= "Region Items"->@CURRMBR(Accounts) * "Office Staff - Employees" / "Operations"->"Office Staff - Employees";
    ENDFIX
    You will need to check the performance of this, especially if Budget is sparse - although it would remove create block issues.
    You might also need to enclose the "CurrMbr" section in a SUMRANGE to validate, but it is a starter for you.
    Hope this helps

  • Retrieve imported and validated Entities for further ESSBASE calc Script

    Hi folks,
    once the FDM processing is finished:
    The Event Script AftConsolidate is executed.
    It is retrieving all unique Entity entries (trialbalance command), Period (POV), Scenario (POV) etc. and is bulding a dynamic ESSBAE calc script command which is afterwards executed to ensure that even the leaf member are correctly transferred to ESSBASE, the nodes are refreshed/aggregated as well.
    This works perfectly ;-)
    MY ISSUE:
    I want to clone this logic into a custom web script which then can be executed adhoc via webfrontend / Task Flow.
    I tried to copy the AftCondolidate Script into this custom web script. UNFORTUNATELY i get an error: saying DATA ACCESS ERROR
    My assumption is, that the trialbalance command does not work wit the custom web scripts.
    Is that right? Are there any workarounds how to retrieve out of a custom web script the entity dimension and store the unique entity entries in an array?
    regards
    Hau

    You don't need a custom script. FDM has functionality to call the consolidate action only, check the activities menu

  • DATAEXPORT - set Dynamic File name in Calc Script

    Hi,
    I have a calc script which exports data from BSO cube to a flat file. Currently I have hard coded file name within the calc script which is
    DATAEXPORT "File" "," "D:/in/CAPXPT_FERC_*FY12*.txt";
    and, for example, I want use the substition varaible to dynamically assign the file name let' say
    DATAEXPORT "File" "," "/u11/oracle/OHDDEVD/in/CAPXPT_FERC *" + &fYear + "*.txt";
    Is there any way to set the export file name dynamically?
    Thanks for your help
    Regards,

    A kind of intriguing thought would be to use the sub var as a way to drive the file name, then grab Robb Salzmann's CDF to dynamically set sub vars on the fly, and then use a RTP to grab that string. I have no idea if this would all tie together, but it would be interesting to try.
    Here's Robb's post: http://codingwithhyperion.blogspot.com/2011/08/create-and-update-substitution.html This is my second in a row post that refers to his CDF -- it is almost like that's my pseudonym except of course I'm too thick to write a CDF.

  • The export file from a calc script - naming and date/time stamp

    Here is a simple calc script to export data.
    2 questions:
    1. Is there an easy way to add a date/time stamp on the name of the data file so that it does not overwrite the older ones every time?
    2. I tried to specify the path so that it write to another server. "\\mfldappp011\E:\Exp_AW.txt". It's not working. How should I specify the path ?
    Fix (@Relative("Yeartotal",0),"Actual","Working",&ActualYear);
    Dataexport "file" "," "C:\Exp_AW.txt" "#MI";
    EndFix;
    Edited by: user9959627 on Sep 7, 2012 11:25 AM

    Probably easiest to call the maxl script from a command line script, then rename the exported file to include the tme stamp and copy/move it to a location.

  • Run calc script via business rule

    Hello all,
    I have calc scripts and business rules in my hyperion essbase.
    one of the calc scripts e.g. aggregates some values.
    In the business rule i copied the code from the calc script and this business rule can be executed in the planning tool.
    Now, everytime when i change the code from the calc script, i have to change same things at the business rule.
    And now my question:
    Is it possible to start a calc script with the business rule?
    e.g. content of business rule: execute "calc_aggregate"
    Is there a command?
    Then it would save time and i only have to change the calc script and not both.
    Thanks for your efforts,
    Chris

    1) try to use essbase 9.3 with dataexport command in calc script (this version essbase is compatible with planning versions 9x and 4.1)
    2) you can write (or found in google) UDF function for run system command or (and) export data set
    3) you can run system command from Planning web and run CSC and RUL from essmsh

    Hi,
    One problem is that I can not identify the script because it was not created by me, as I understand this calc is implicit in planning, only runs when you select the option "mass allocate".
    The published extract was obtained from the log of the application in which the calculation is running, this was extracted from essbase directory that hosts the application.

    If you remove the substitution variable and replace it with the actual value (whatever that is), does the code work? That will tell you if the issue is around the substitution variable or not.

  • Report script command to get all Level 0 members of a given member

    Hi,
    Is there any Report script command to get all Level 0 members of a given member (Parent)? (very similar to @RELATIVE (mbrName, 0) in Calc Scripts).
    <DIMBOTTOM gives all the level 0 members in the dimension.
    There is a command called
    <LEAVES mbrName
    This works only for ASO.
    Is there anything similar for BSO?
    Appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Ethan.

    from my blog on report scripts at
    http://glennschwartzbergs-essbase-blog.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
    Third, there is a command to stay away from, its DimBottom. [edited] Like @CURRMBR in calc scripts, DimBottom is one of those commands that is very slow. If you use Query designer to create a report, it uses a better way. It uses the link command. In sample.basic to get all level 0 products it uses
    <Link ((<LEV("Product", 0)) AND ( <DESC("Product")))
