Hi,
Use these steps:
1. Goto R/3 -> se11/se16 -> ROOSOURCE table
2. Check for the extractor method field.
3. Now if the extractor method is view/table then check for the fields in se11/se16.
4. If the extractor is fn module based then goto se37 and check for the tables and fields referred in the code. You can use the find option and serach for keywords like "tables" and "select". This should guide you to all the tables which are refered in the extractor.

How can I fill a datasource with archived data?
I have created the Infostructure and the generic datasource (SD_VBRK_ARKIV). The datasource is available in BW after replication. But when I try to load it with an infopackage it finds 0 records. Am I missing a step? Is there something I need to do on the R/3 side to fill the table?

Hi Shabar,
I have only tested it in Test, since I do not have any rights in Prod yet (waiting..). And it extracts data in test. But I don't know if there has been done any special operation on the R/3 test side before the extractor was able to collect data. It might be that the extractor is imported into production (since I get it when replicating in BI prod) but there is some operation that need to be done to collect data. Becaus as of now I am receiving 0 records in prod.

Transport for PC datasources Table name

Hi All,
As a part of our tramsporting statargy i am going to send my datasources to QA first.
In this regard i am sending the flatfile datasources first into BI side.
I have many number of datasources are there but under one application component.
If i select the source system is pcfile and selecting that application component with all selections like dataflow before and before after only ncessary..it's not showing the all my flat file datsources unders that aoplication componennt in the transport connection.
The other way is to collect is datasource wise ,for this regard i would like to find is there any table which holds the application component and correposing datasources
or else any table name which holds only flatfile datasources(PC file Source system daatasoucres)

There are some 200+ data sources available the above mentioned source system, all these data sources are created on some views or tables, is there any SAP standard table which gives information about on what table or view it has been created?
ROOSOURCE - will give details only about the data sources which i created in BI (Source system)

Thanks a lot for the table, i was searching for a table on which a IS-U data source was built on, but could not find.
I have one quick question on this table, this is a Standard table right? it should have all the Data sources which are in use in the system, are we suppose to maintain those entries or system wil automatically record the entries? I assume the system will do that. In my Dev system there are 0zero entries in this table. can you throw some light on this?.

How to find datasource and standard cube for given R/3 table

Hi All,
Can anyone help me that how to find a datsource, standard cube and Standard BI reports for given R/3 table.
For example if am having the table names "EKKO (Header)
EKPO (Line item)
EKET (Schedule Lines)
EKBE (PO History)
EKKN (Account Assignment/WBS)
EKAN/EKPA (Partner Info)" for all these tables how can i find the standard datasource and standard Cube.
Please help in this. I will assign the points.

Creation of DataSources

Guruji's:
I am in a lab environment for BI7 ECC 6....trying to follow basic steps for ETL exercize in BW modeling document. I have no basis support and there are no other users in this lab.
Please if you don't feel like reading the whole thing just read part 1 below, I am just being as detailed as possible.
1: If I go into tcode SBIW, I am able to create a generic datasource only if I select an existing SAP-based Application Component. However it then does not appear under said application component when I browse or search for it after it has been saved.
2: If I try to create my own application component, on the other hand, and create the datasource using this created one (while in t code sbiw) I get a message "there is no application component x" (x=name of whatever application component I am using.
3: I tried a workaround: In the workbench when I go to create a datasource by clicking on the button for datasource at the top and I go to create a datasource I get the mssg "creation of datasources for the sap source system T90CLNT090 is not permitted"
I have tried: creating application components under sap-based application components as well as by themselves and nothing seems to matter.
Note: This problem seems sporadic, as I was able to finally create a datasource but after I replicated and activated it and went in to create a transformation, the datasource tables didn't show up at all on the left, only the table from the infoobject characteristic load.
I presently have no usable datasource and am starting from scratch.

I am editing this post because there have been changes:
1. Yes there are already standard datasources.
2. No I haven't done any initial settings...so I went to the Transfer Business Content DataSources thru sbiw but didn't see anything to select "execute"....so I try something...I went back Transfer Business Content DataSources and chose "content delta" and it says 'comparison bct <-> cust version ' then it counted thru several objects for a few minutes and finished with no warnings. then I selected each datasource under co-om-cca and activated those with no problems.
3. went to rsa 5 and again activated each datasource again for c0-om-cca.
i am still unable to see one of the two datasources i have created on the workbench but when i go to rsa6 both of my two datasources are showing.
when I try to create my generic datasource under my own application component it again does not recognise my application component so same problem...
4. when i try to create came generic datasource using co-om-cca application component i get mssg that it saved
5. but again when I look under the application component it is not there.
6. when i try to replicate datasources for t90clnt090 source system (rt click on source system name and select replicate datasources) it hangs up for several minutes and eventually my session terminates. it has always been like that.

Changing the datasource of a Crystal Report to a Oracle DB using TNS

I have a problem trying to change the datasource of a crystal report. In the new connection I want to connect to a Oracle DB using TNS.
Without TNS it's finally working flawlessly with the following code:

I just call this method with the DatabaseController from a ReportClientDocument instance.

Error by creating datasource in r/3

Units field WAERS for field VERPR of DataSource ZBW_MBEW is hidden
I use for extraction function module with extraction structure. There is in this structure field VERPR, which is CURR with reference field WAERS in another table.

Hi,
Datasource / tables in the source system
Go to RSA2 (DS Repository) in your source system and display your source system.
If Extraction Method is 'V' - you are lucky and you see table name where data is taken from.
If it is F* - function module is used, and you have to go thru its code to see all the tables it uses and logic how data is
processed.

Since you have the extract structure and the extractor, you must have some transaction like the Extractor Checker RSA3. If so
then execute ST05, switch on the trace and execute the extractor checker. Once the extractor checker presents the results
switch off trace. The clcik on Display trace and you will see all the tables that were hit by the extractor checker to
retrieve data and present it to you.

I want to delete 1 record(Row) from that Dynamic table.
Say if my dynamic table contains 5 records(rows);after deletion of 1 record(1 complete row)from that dynamic table,the number of records(rows) should be 4 .
Please suggest me how to proceed.

Datasource does not appear on the console, intermittent problem

I am using Weblogic 9.2 MP3
I've created an Oracle DataSource and successfully targeted it to a Managed Server.
When I click on it in the console and navigate to the "Monitoring" tab, it would sometimes appear in the "Test DataSource" table and sometimes it would not. I am able to successfully click the Test button when it does appear in the table.
I do not have this issue with Weblogic 9.2 MP1.
Is this a known issue and is there a patch for it?

hi, I have not this problem, but have read some forums with people having the same problem. It seems to be with people using PC and not mac. Are you using iTunes 9? If so, it seems to be a screen resolution problem, and some of the image is cut and not shown on the screen. Just adjust your screen resolution so the image is all on the screen and the photo tag (the last on the list!!!) will show up!

I Guys I am new to BW, I activate a Datasource in RSA5, but when I try to replicate in BW I cannot see it, Do I have to create a Source System for R3 for this to work. I went to SM59 and create a RFC pointing to the Client I want to extract the data.

Please use the below procedure :
1- Go to Transaction RSDS and enter your Data Source name and Source System ( you can check your source system if it is already available )
If your source system is available, then goto datasource table and select replicate data source .
Another Option :
,Go to transaction SBIW in the source system choose Business Information Warehouse-- Business Content DataSources --Transfer Business Content DataSources
Select the nodes in the application component hierarchy for which you want to transfer DataSources into the active version..
Alternative you can Go to Data Warehousing Workbench. Transaction RSA1
Select the Datasource tab--select your application component --and right click --replicate meta data .
Now if you have not connected with Source system first ask your Basis Team to make connection between R/3 source and BW system .

Shared Datasource Is Not Valid Error

Using Reporting Services (SQL Server 2008 R2), I have a VS SSRS project with 23 reports, all running off the same Shared Data Source. They all execute in VS. I have deployed the datasource, datasets & reports to server. From the Report
Manager, I can execute all reports except 4, which have the same error:
The report server cannot process the report or shared dataset. The shared data source '22d600c2-a3d5-4178-8a39-d05361607ebd' for the report server or SharePoint site is not valid. Browse to the server or site and select a shared data source. (rsInvalidDataSourceReference)
I have tried the following, without success:
1)verified that the datasource exists in the Data Sources folder, and is Enabled
2) Checked and reset the Shared Datasource to point to the deployed datasource in the Data Sources folder
3) Recreated & redeployed the datasource
4) Deleted the 4 reports on the server and re-deployed
5) Deleted the reports, used Upload instead of Deploy, then set the Shared Datasource to point to the one on the server
6) Verified that the Link column in ReportServer.DataSource is NOT NULL. Actually have the same Link as the other 19 reports. Verified that the GUID in the LinkID exists in Catalog table and is the id for the Datasource.
No matter what I have tried, for some reason, the GUID in these failing reports appear to get set to '22d600c2-a3d5-4178-8a39-d05361607ebd', which does not exist in Catalog table. The other reports never fail, these reports never execute. Anyone
have any ideas?

As I recall, I went into the Report server db and updated the Catalog table. Open the table and you'll find your reports listed with a link to their datasource (in the DataSource table). I found the 4 reports that failed had a different value
in the LinkID column than the reports that executed, even though they use the same shared datasource.
So I copied the good LinkID value (a GUID) into the 4 reports that failed, and then they ran fine. For some unknown reason, there was an invalid value stuck in the LinkID column which pointed to a datasource that really did not exist.
Go figure.

Problem with Z Datasource on the R/3 side

Hi Gurus,
When I check in the 'Details' tab in the Monitor of a Infopackage created on a Standard DataSource,
it shows data received as packets of size 25908 records.
"25908 Records sent ( 25908 Records received ) "
"25908 Records sent ( 25908 Records received ) "
"25908 Records sent ( 25908 Records received ) " and so on.
I created a Z data source on FM. When I try to execute the infopackage created for this Z Datasource,
it tried to fetch all the records in a single packet and failed.
"1920452 Records sent ( 0 Records received )".
Am I missing some settings for this datasource.
This is failing in the R/3 side with error "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED" because it is appending all the data to a single internal table in this case. Whereas in the above standard datasource case, it is sending data in form of packets.
Please suggest if i am missing any settings in this case.

Hi Nageswara,
   You would find the following code in the function module,
Fill parameter buffer for data extraction calls
    S_S_IF-REQUNR    = I_REQUNR.
    S_S_IF-DSOURCE = I_DSOURCE.
    S_S_IF-MAXSIZE   = I_MAXSIZE.
Here you have to determine number of database records to be read per FETCH statement
from input parameter I_MAXSIZE. If there is a one to one relation between DataSource table lines and database entries, this is trivial. In other cases, it may be impossible and some estimated value has to
be determined.
As per the above statement, you have to estimate some value for the parameter I_MAXSIZE.
This would resolve your issue
