In Datastage, there is sorting stage specially sort the data after applying the transormations and filters seperately.
My requirement is we need to apply sorting on Target Database after applying some transformations,Aggregations and filters on source database *(Before Loading into Target data should be in the sorted Order)*
In odi,there is no sorting stage separtely for those requirement sorting the data either Ascending / Descending order *(how can i approach sorting stage in ODI)*

ODI Migration for 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3 failed with Importing object

I am trying to upgrade ODI 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3 version
After running RCC and confirming that there are no issues I have run upgrade assistant utility

OWB 10.2 to ODI migration

Hello All -
I have been trying to find some resources to migrate my existing OWB10.2 environment into ODI 11 but was unsuccessful. Is there any official document available which talks about migration of OWB10.2 to ODI11? I know there is a third party provider of OWB to ODI migration OWB2ODIConverter.com but I am more interested in official document from Oracle for a migration path. I have attended a session with Oracle around 2 yrs back where we talked about a unified ETL product merging OWB + ODI but I think it is still underway.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Your best option is to go to 11.2.0.2 if you can but otherwise get patch 9802120.

While doing ODI migration what things are needed to be setup in Topology?

While doing ODI migration what things are needed to be setup in Topology manager ?
1.Like in Toplogy in file we hive file paths.
2. In Planning we set Logical schema .

Lots of things are defined in the topology manager - below is a simplified list
1) Physiccal Schemas the actual connection information / details related to any technology you plan to use in your ODI integration interfaces
2) Logical schema, abstracted version of the Physical schema which allows greater flexibility ad reuse across environments
3) Contexts - how you asssociate logical and physical schemas
4) Agents - manage the execution of ODI jobs
When you talk about migration, do you mean moving ODI objects between seperate environments such as Dev and Prod? If so you will need to ensure that all the technologies you use in Dev are present in Prod. The physical layer has been set up with all the correct connection details. Your logical scemas has been set up matching your configuration in the dev environment and you have used the contexts to associate the logical and physical layers as per your dev configuration.

Are the OPH webservices/odi migrated to SOA FMW in the pip pmdm11.2?

To integrate OPH (Oracle Product Hub 12.1.3) with RODOD using AIA Pre-Built Integrations Product Master Data Management 11.1 I installed an OAC (Oracle Application Server) where has been deployed the OPH webservice:

which working with the ODI10 that is deplojed in the same server.
My question is if for the new release 11.2 (about the integration of Oracle Product Hub 12.1.3 with Oracle Pre-Built Integrations Product Master Data Management 11.2) the webservices and ODI project have been migrated to the SOA FMW 11.1.1.6 platform or not?
If not have I to install a new version of PIMWebServices and ODI project or I can reuse the same released for 11.1?

We achieve to migrate master repository without any problem, and we try now to migrate the work repository and we have the following error :

Best Practices For Upgrading From Sunopsis To Oracle Data Integrator [ID 437223.1]
Important things to be aware of if you are upgrading from Sunopsis V3:
Sunopsis V3 uses JVM 1.3.1 while ODI 10.1.3 requires a minimum of JVM 1.4.2. This is not an issue if you are upgrading from Sunopsis v4.
Sunopsis V3 allows mixed-case Context Codes, which are automatically converted to upper-case in V4 and ODI versions. To fix the Issue, manual updates of all Context Codes referenced in the Work Repository must be performed. These updates should be made on all Work Repositories related to a same Master Repository.
In Sunopsis V3 DB2UDB Technology definition (\lib\scripts\xml\TECH_IBMDB2UDB.xml), The BLOB is defined with a size of 2G. The Master Repository creation fails at
CREATE TABLE SNP_DATA ( I_DATA NUMERIC(10) NOT NULL, DATA_CONTENTS BLOB(2G)
with error message :
SQLCODE -355 SQLSTATE 42993 SQLERRMC: DATA_CONTENTS
The error means that the column is too large for logging. 2G exceeds DB2 1G limit for Blob datatypes. This is fixed in Sunopsis 4.0.
After upgrading Sunopsis v3 Master to ODI, the user will still run into this issue if he tries to export this upgraded Master and import it into another Master using mimport.bat.
Solution: Modify the upgraded V3 Master Repository TECH_IBMDB2UDB.xml file and change the 2g to 100M. i.e.
<Field name="DdlLongrawMask" type="java.lang.String"><![CDATA[BLOB(100M)]]></Field>
Then try the import again.

ODI - Migration from french environment to UK environment - issue

hi,
i use ODI 10 and my company decides to install ODI from a french server to a UK server. we did the installation to the new UK environnment (ORACLE 11G). so i start the ODI packages tests and i have new issues on conversion. for example, i try to do an insert query using to_number function and it does not work now. before on the french server, it worked fine.
the issue is an oracle issue with this description "Invalid number". after some research, i found the problem. in my query, i change the number separator point to comma. but i think with UK environment, the separator is now point instead of comma.
i'm blocked because i don' t know where i have to change something (database or ODI).

Yup, the only good news is that ODI doesn't stink to high heaven the way HAL did.
In case you can't tell, I was never a fan of HAL. "Necessary evil" kept on popping up in my mind whenever the spaghetti came on screen.
A full rewrite is in your future -- now you can do it the way you always wanted to with a proper tool. :)

2. Is there any scripting language in ODI similar to OMB meta data scripting languate as in OWB which can be used to automate and speed up the multi site deployment?
3. What is the process of step to convert OWB mappings to ODI interfaces? Does oracle provides any tools or methodology to do the migration from OWB to ODI.?R there any third party tools to do the same? what are they?

Also careful consideration / deployment of ODI Agents allow you to run / execute / invoke you code from just about anywhere you want to (Target database, remote file system, source servers etc)

Query Regarding Updation/Migration of ODI 10g To ODI 11g.

Currently I am using ODI 10g Version & Repositories ( Work & Master) have been installed on Oracle database version "Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi"
We are thinking to migrate from ODI 10g to ODI 11g Version 11.1.1.5 & i have some queries which are metioned below.
1. Can we install ODI 11g Version 11.1.1.5 version with Repositories ( Work & Master) on Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi" or do i need to upgrade my database version to 11G?.
2. If yes then, Can i upgrade or use exting Repositoires ( 10g one) for ODI 11g OR i have to create new Repositoires & move/migrate the objects of 10G repositories as mentioned in the Oracle installation doc.
3. Currently I am using OBIEE 10g for reposrting purpose & if i switch to ODI 11g , Do i need to use OBIEE 11g?
ODI gurus, I need your reponse ASAP & i have to share it on urgent basis.

We are using ODI 11.1.1.6 version.
In my ODI project, we have separate installations for Dev, Test and Prod. i.e. Master repositories are not common between all the three. Now my code is ready in dev. Test environment is just installed with ODI and Master and Work repositories are created. Thats it
Now, I need to know and understand what is the simple & best way to import the code from Dev and migrate it to test environment. Can some one brief the same as a step by step procedure in 5-6 lines?
Some questions on current state.
1. Do the id's of master and work repositories in Dev and Test need to be the same?
2. I usually see in export file a repository id with 999 and fail to understand what it is exactly. None of my master or work repositories are named with that id.
3. Logical Architecture objects and context do not have an export option. What is the suitable alternative for this?

In case of scenario you need not to bother about model/datastores. keep in mind that the logical schema name should be same in QA as used in your DEV.

How to use Filemaker database as datasource of ODI 11.1.1.5 for migration

Hi Everyone,
I am very new to ODI... and i have been assigned a work to migrate data from filemaker(10) database to Oracle 11g database by using ODI 11.1.1.5 tool.
Is their any way to add Filemaker(10) as datasource in ODI..IF their is any possibility pls respond with step by step procedure..

Hello,
Your filemaker install should have come with a jdbc driver (.jar file). You'll need to check your filemaker pro documentation to confirm. Once you have the file, place it in the ODI/oracledi/agent/drivers folder where your agent lives (also place it on your client if you want to use the local agent for testing). You can then create a custom Technology in the Topology tab in ODI.
There are many options in the Technology definition which you will need to figure out based on what filemaker pro can handle and how it processes queries. Once the technology is created, add a Data Server and Physical Schema as you would any other technology. Then, build the model, datastores, interfaces, etc. just like any other tech.

Problems while migrating ODI code from 1 env to other

Hi,
I had some ODI code in Env1 i moved it to Env2 and did some new development(created new models, packages etc) over there and then tried to migrate it into Env3.What i found that the exports for new development done at Env2 got imported easily in Env3 however, the exports of the code(of Env1) taken from Env2 are giving error ODI-10018: The repository {0} is not coherent between the current repository and the import file.
This has put me in lot of trouble is there any way to resolve this.

Well. This problem is not new and not unusual.
What are the repository IDs for Env 1, Env 2 and Env 3 ?
I suspect that Env 1 ID and Env 3 ID are same.
There is an option in ODI 11g to renumber the repository IDs. In Topology Manager -> Repositories and then select and right click.
You can select Env 2 and select an unused repository number and renumber your repository. Then the objects wilil be easily imported into Env 3.

I have ODI application on server1 with latest updates. on server2 i have old copy of the data which is over month old. lot of changes had happened and i want to remove the old copy of data from server2 and get the latest data from server1. please suggest what is the best way to migrate the entire project and the database tables.

Hi,
You can export from server 1 and then import on server 2 with import mode as INSER UPDATE .So that newly created objects of server 1 will get insered and same objects which is present on serve2 as well as server1 will get updated .
This will work if your 2 repository hase distinct repository id.
