Date can not display correctly in excel from .jsp
Hi,

for example in database :start date ='01-oct-2003'
in the except it displays to 02/06/02.
It seem all the date field can not be control in the report, and control by somthing else
Doese anyone come accross this problem?
Thanks
Hi Rong,
Are you using the following demonstration to build your JSP?
http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/index.html
(Output to Excel with Oracle9i Report)
I tried to do the same, and inserted a database date field in the JSP using Reports. I found the following:
While making the template inside Excel, if I make sure that the format of the date cells is "Date" - some particular date format, the date field values from Reports does not get exported correctly.
However, if you make sure that inside the template, the format of the date cells is not date, but "General", then the date field values are correctly exported to Excel.
Pl try it and let us know.
Navneet.

Eurosign not displayed correctly when picked from database
Hi ..
I'm having a problem getting a eurosign stored in an Oracle Database to be displayed correctly in my Crystal Reports 11.5.
When using the built in (preview) Crystal Viewer, the eurosign is displayed correctly, but when I want to print the report directly to a printer or to export it to pdf the eurosign is displayed as a box?
It only haapens when i need to pick the eurosign from the database. If I insert in a textbox on the report, it will show correctly.
Please Help.
Best regards,
JacobWhat is the source of the text stored in the database. I ran into an issue a ways back where someone was copying news articles from a website into their database and the euro symbol would not display correctly (unless the option HTML Text Interpretation was used).
You might want to do a quick check to see if it is stored as an ascii character using a formula similar to the following;
asc(mid({database, x, 1}))
where x = the position of the euro symbol in the string.
The formula result should be 128.

Cache settings in BI7. Data still not displayed correctly in RSRT
Good day
Please assist? I did scan SDN for a similar problem and did check the CACHE settings in RSRT etc.
My problem is: If I check the data in the DSO, then the updated information that was loaded yesterday is displayed. When I run the query, it does not display the last loaded information. I have run the query in RSRT and the updated information does not display either. I have changed the cache properties of this query to different settings already, and running the query from RSRT, with no success.
I also checked the query itself (design) It is not restricted to anything. User selects 0CALMONTH as variable only. I have logged out and in again after each Cache setting, no success of displaying the updated DSO information.
Can anyone please tell me why the query does not pick up the latest information from the DSO?
Thanks in advance.
CjHi Cj,
Is the last request marked as Ready for Reporting? This needs to be the case before the latest data comes up in the query.
Hope this helps!

Query on Multiprovider - Data is not displayed correctly
Hi,
I have two cubes in a multiprovider.
1st has following Characteristics :
1. Service Order
2. Product line code
3. Cost Center
4. Fiscal Period
5. Fiscal Year
6. Actuals - Key Figure
2nd cube has
1. Product Line code
2. Cost Center
3. Budget type
4. Fiscal Year
5. Fiscal period
6. Budget Amount - Key figure
I have a query to display: Service Order, Product line, cost center, fiscal period, actuals and budget amount.
When I execute I get 2 rows:
1 st row displaying - Actual values with all the data
2nd row displaying Product line and Budget with all other fields containing '#' sign or "not assigned" .
I will appreciate if you can tell me what mistake I am doing. I have checked the multiprovider 'Identification' - all the fields are selected.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
JitendraHi Jitendra,
This is because you have got service order charcterstic in 1st cube only and does not exist in 2nd cube. when you try to display Service order, you will get two records. If you remove service order from display of query, you will be able to see one record as charcterstics are common in both cube.
If you want to display service order and wud like to resolve this issue, try the following:
Restrict Budget amount with characterstic service order and right click it and select Constant. Then execute the query.

Data is not coming correctly through delta from DSO to Cube
HI All,
When there is change in Org. Unit, Job or any characteristic of employee then the the delta of data source picks that change records.
I have used DSO before Cube. Now in DSO active table have one record against the Employee and same Schedule hours as ECC have.
But while loading to the cube, this data of schedule hours will get added to existing schedule hours of Cube , which makes the schedule hours double for that Employee. For exmaple.
DSO Data.
Emp NO. Date Org. Unit Sch. Hrs
1 ABC 16
CUBE Data
Emp NO. Org. Unit Sch. Hrs
1 ABC 16
Now Employee Org. Unit get changed to XYZ.
DSO Data.
Emp NO. Org. Unit Sch. Hrs
1 XYZ 16
CUBE Data
Emp NO. Org. Unit Sch. Hrs
1 ABC 16
1 XYZ 16
I need data as it is in the DSO.
Please help, thanks in advance.
ArvindHi Arvind,
DSO and Infocube works different for char values......you can define Key Fields in DSO...
whereas in Infocube each Characteristic value work as Key Field.....that's the reason if there is any change in any characteristic value ...
DSO Active data will not change if Key field has not change..... the newly updated Data field value will be available in DSO Active Table.....whereas in Infocube... it will create a new entry......
In order to get the updated value each time you need to explore some other options .....like complete deletion of Info cube data and full load everyday.......
Other options depends on design and data volume and other parameters.
Hope this helps........

Can Not Display Normal Chinese Chars in JSP
Hi,
I am displaying some chinese chars in a normal JSP file but it show me some
funny things. If I get the data from the oracle and the information is chinese,
then it display correctly. And I try another thing that I save the noraml JSP
(without any java code) to a html and it is working fine. Same content, if saved
as HTML, then ok. If saved as JSP, then got problem. I am using weblogic 6.1.
There are somewhere need to be configure or... Any idea for this? Thank you
very much!
yang linHi Howard,
if i use Font.createFont() to general font object that
can solve chinese display problem in RH 7.3. but i
thought, it's no reasonable way to use font object.
that is really bad for cross-platform benefit or you
need to carry font file with your application.
have a way to set default font use createFont()
object?In the past, I've carried the font file around with me. Given the number of graphics files, properties files and
other assorted garbage that apps are already carrying around, it's not too unreasonable to have to add a
TrueType font to the list of hangers-on (unless it's the size of Arial Unicode MS - 23Mb is a big ask sometimes)!
Given that TrueType fonts themselves are essentially platform-independent, I don't see it as too much of an issue. But that's just me and my experiences! ;-)
To set the font as default...
try {
FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream("myFont.ttf");
Font defaultFont = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, fis);
setFont(defaultFont);
} catch (FontFormatException ffe) {
System.err.println("My TrueType font is corrupted.");
} catch (IOException ioe) {
System.err.println("My I/O stuffed up.");
}There are various ways to set the font in even better ways, particularly if you're in a standalone app, but the above is at least a good basic one.
Hope that helps,

Integer Data Type not displayed correctly in Interactive Report
Hi,
When creating a report using BI Publisher 11.1.1.6.2 it appears that any of my fields that contain Integer values (regardless of the order in which the field is displayed) do not correctly display - instead they are displayed as NULLs with the occasional value in a field.
This is only apparent when displaying the report using the Interactive viewer - when selecting another method (i.e. HTML, Excel etc) they appear correctly.
Has anyone come across this before?
ThanksHi Craig
Did you find a solution for this issue? we have same exact issue. Please let me know

German characters not displaying correctly when redaing from URLConnection
I have a java file reading the contents of a generated jsp page and writing to an html file and I have the code below doing that. However a couple of German characters like , and are being changed to in the html file. I tried to set the encoding for the reader, the OutputStreamWriter and also for the URLConnection, but it does not seem to help.
The data is fine in the database.
Any inputs on resolving this will be greatly appreciated.
public void makeLiveHTMLfile(String uri, String HTMLFileName, String siteUrl, String siteDir) throws
Exception {
//Local vars
int i = 0;
try {
getConnection(uri);
Reader rd = getReader(uri);
FileOutputStream output_file = new FileOutputStream(
SystemProps.getInstance().getProperty( WEBTOOL_HOME_DIR )+"/html/" + HTMLFileName);
OutputStreamWriter output = new OutputStreamWriter(output_file, "UTF8");
while (i != -1) {
i = rd.read();
if (i != -1) {
output.write(i);
rd.close();
output.close();
this.sendFile(HTMLFileName, siteDir, "html", siteUrl);
} catch (Exception e) {

if (uri.startsWith("http:") || uri.startsWith("https:")) {
// Retrieve from Internet.
return new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream(), "UTF8");
} else {
// Retrieve from file.
return new FileReader(uri);
private Writer getWriter(String uri) throws IOException {
if (uri.startsWith("http:") || uri.startsWith("https:")) {
// Retrieve from Internet.
return new OutputStreamWriter(conn.getOutputStream(), "UTF8");
} else {
// Retrieve from file.
return new FileWriter(uri);
private void getConnection(String uri) throws IOException {

// Retrieve from Internet.
conn = new URL(uri).openConnection();
conn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "text/html; charset=utf-8");
conn.setRequestProperty("Accept-Encoding", "utf-8");
conn.setRequestProperty("Accept-Charset", "utf-8");
conn.setDoOutput(true);
conn.setDoInput(true);
Thanks,
MonishaThis web page says that the correct encoding code is "UTF-8", not "UTF8".
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/java/lang/package-summary.html#charenc
Maybe there are aliases, and it recognises both.... but worth a try.
Also, when you open the web page with a browser and view the source, do you see Utf8 mentioned in the webpage ? Maybe it's not in utf8, and you're trying to force your app to read it as such.
Ps. we won the war... tell them to start speaking English !

Hi,
we have an issue where date is not displaying correctly in report. it shows 1/1/1990. even in universe it shows the same value 1/1/1990. but if i run query at DB level it shows the correct date. Reporting Database is Sybase.
we are on Bi 4.0 SP 6.
Any Ideas.
Thanks,
Yogesh.HI Farzana,
Finally,i have narrowed down the issue. So here it is,Initially we were seeing date as 1/1/1900 in webi rich, IDT and BI LaunchPad. so than we have made changes to sybase. prm file in following location
........\dataAccess\connectionServer\sybase\extensions\legacy
in prm file the input date parameter is as below
<Parameter Name="USER_INPUT_DATE_FORMAT">'mm/dd/yyyy hh:m:s am/pm'</Parameter>
we changed it to
<Parameter Name="USER_INPUT_DATE_FORMAT">'mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss A'</Parameter>
and than we see correct date in IDT and Webi rich but not in BI LaunchPad. the connection we were using in universe is ODBC. so i have created a new connection using sybase CTL client and now i see correct dates in BI LaunchPad also. So i am not sure if i need to make changes to prm file in /dataAccess\connectionServer\odbc\extensions location for the report to show correct values using ODBC.
Any Idea.
Thanks,
Kumar. -
Strange scenario,Oracle can not display the data in mysql correctly
I use Heterogeneous Service+ODBC to achieve "oracle access mysql"(any other method?),and now i find Oracle can not display the data in mysql correctly:
-------mysql------------
mysql> create table tst(id int,name varchar(10));
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
mysql> insert into tst values(1,'a');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)
mysql> select * from tst;
------------+
| id | name |
------------+
| 1 | a |
------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
mysql> show create table tst\G
*************************** 1. row ***************************
Table: tst
Create Table: CREATE TABLE `tst` (
`id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL,
`name` varchar(10) DEFAULT NULL
) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
-------------oracle ------------------
SQL> select count(*) from "tst"@mysql;
COUNT(*)
49
SQL> select * from "tst"@mysql;
id
1
SQL> desc "tst"@mysql;
Name Null? Type
id NUMBER(10)You can make the following query on the result page:
"select * from the_table where movietitle = ? and cinema = ?"
then you set movietitle and cinema to those which the user selected. If the resultset contains more than 0 rows, that means the movie is available.
Below is the sample code, it assumes you have a connection to the database:
PreparedStatement stat = myConnection.prepareStatement("select * from the_table where movietitle = ? and cinema = ?");
stat.setString(1, usersMovieTitleSelection);
stat.setString(2, usersCinemaSelection);
ResultSet res = stat.executeQuery();
if (res.next()) {
out.print("The movie is available");
} else {
out.print("The movie is not available");
}Now just add that to your JSP page. Enjoy ! =) -
UTF-8 csv file generated by Java can't be displayed correctly on Excel 2000
Hi, I have a question about the file geneated by Java in UTF-8 format. If I have a file named "foo.csv" generated by my java code like this:
writer = new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream("foo.csv"), "UTF-8");
Then I write some data loaded from a MS SQL 2000 server to this file. Some data are in German or french characters. After the file is generated, if I open it in notepad, all the characters in the file looks good. The file is in UTF-8 format. The only problem is that when I open this csv file in MS Excel 2000, all the non-english character display incorrectly. For example:
"VERKTYGSTEKNIK I VXJ AB" display as itself in notepad, but it display as "VERKTYGSTEKNIK I VXJ AB" in the MS Excel. I don't know the reason. If I don't have the encoding in the writer, then the file generated looks fine in the Excel (Even the non-English characters), in this case, the file is generated in ANSI format. But my client wants the file in UTF-8 format and also want to view it in Excel.
Why the UTF-8 file generated by Java can't be displayed correctly in Excel 2000?
My environment is:
OS: Window 2000 Server English Version
JDK: Sun jdk1.3.1
Thanks- Does ms excell actually support UTF-8
Yes. I believed that we installed some international add-on which is not in default installnation. Anyway, other UTF-8 or UTF-16 file can be openned and viewed by Excel without any problem.
- have you verifide that the file is viewable as a UTF-8 -encoded file
I think so. If I open it into Notepad and choose "save as", the file type if UTF-8 file
- Try opening the file in a program you are confident
that it support UTF-8 - eg. Mozilla...
I will try that.
- Check that your UTF-8 -encoded file has a UTF-8 identifier (0xFEFF ?)
as the first character
The unicode-16(LE or BE) file I got from internet, I found there is always two bytes in the front. (0xFEFF or 0xFFFE). My UTF-8 file generated by java doesn't have that. But should UTF-8 file also has this kind of specifcal bytes in the front? If I manually add these bytes in the front of my file using Ultraeditor and open it in Excel2000, it didn't help.
- Try using another spreadsheet program that supports UTF-8
Do you know any other spreadsheet program supports csv file and UTF-8. -

My Payment Method That Is On Fill Is Correct And My Security Code Is Correct You All Are Telling Me That It Is Invaild And I Can Not Download No Free Apps From The Apps Store!!!!!!!!
The short answer is no.
Unless you are selling the app via the Enterprise Deployment option, everyone has to download via their own iTunes account ID. Yes, iTunes can be used by multiple IDs but this makes it very messy to resolve later.
What kind of app is this? Which Expo? If an Expo for selling apps has poor Internet connection I would question the validity of using such an expo in the first place. -
I can not get or send mail from my iPhone, iCloud, and desktop mail. All are the same account, password is right and working. When the problem first happened I updated to a new password.
The Mail and the phone are telling me ( "The iCloud IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “k****n******2”}
From the iCloud account i get a message saying mail could not be loaded and the details. Which i have copyed below.
Any thoughts or anyone I can ring ? This was a paid for mobile me account.
