    Hi Wayne,
    Thank you for this response.  I have tried this but when I start enterring $ amounts some, such as $6.00, go in OK others such as $4.00 appear as a date ie 4 Oct 12.
    Kind regards

  • How to Select data using same column name from 3 remote database

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me on how to get data with same column names from 3 remote database and a single alias.
    Ex.
    SELECT *
    a.name, b.status, SUM(b.qty) qantity, MAX(b.date) date_as_of
    FROM
    *((table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3)a,*
    *(table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3)b)*
    WHERE b.dept = 'finance'
    AND a.position = 'admin'
    AND a.latest = 'Y' AND (b.status <> 'TRM') AND b.qty > 0;
    GROUP BY a.name, b.status ;
    NOTE: the bold statements is just an example of what I want to do but I always gets an error beacause of ambiguous columns.
    Thanks in advnce. :)

    Each object must be uniquely identified. So you cannot do this:
    select * from (table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3) a3 objects cannot share the same alias. Example:
    SQL> select * from (dual, dual) d;
    select * from (dual, dual) d
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00907: missing right parenthesisYou need to combine the objects - using a join or union or similar. So it will need to be done as follows:
    SQL> select * from (select * from dual d1, dual d2) d;
    select * from (select * from dual d1, dual d2) d
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00918: column ambiguously definedHowever, we need to have unique column names in a SQL projection - so the join of the tables need to project a unique set of columns. Thus:
    SQL> select * from (select d1.dummy as dummy1, d2.dummy as dummy2 from dual d1, dual d2) d;
    DUM DUM
    X   X
    SQL> I suggest that you look closely at what scope is and how it applies in the SQL language - and ignore whether the objects referenced are local or remote as it has no impact to fundamentals of scope resolution.

    It is the decode statement that is doing this.
    The format of decode is:
    decode(expression, search1, result1, search2, result2, searchn, resultn, default)
    All result fields must be of the same datatype and will be of the datatype of the first result (result1 in this example)
    In your example (the decode for the field Days) the first result is a NULL. I suspect (gurus? anyone?) that Oracle will use the varchar2 overload of the decode statement, and the date field will be converted to varchar2 using your NLS_DATE_FORMAT settings.
    In the second decode statment (Day1) the first result is of datatype date, so the result of the decode statement will be a date field (and will be parsed as such by your sql development tool)
    I agree, as NULL is the first result returned the datatype is undetermined, so Oracle is picking VARCHAR2 over others, and causing an implicit datatype conversion on the resultant date value, whereas the other which is returned as a date will use the local settings of the client tool being used.
    I can replicate the 'issue' in Toad, and it's rectified if we cast the first returned value of the decode statement...
    SELECT DECODE ('I', 'I', DECODE (1, NULL, CAST(NULL AS DATE), 0, NULL, SYSDATE + 1)) Days,
           DECODE ('I', 'I', SYSDATE + 1) Day1
    FROM dual

  • Selecting same column twice makes query slow

    Hello,
    Has anybody any idea why following statement is slow when selecting the
    DATA_TYPE column twice?
    SELECT S.OWNER,
    S.SYNONYM_NAME,
    UCOL.COLUMN_NAME,
    UCOL.DATA_TYPE,
    UCOL.DATA_TYPE,
    UCOL.DATA_LENGTH,
    COLUMN_ID
    FROM ALL_SYNONYMS S,
    ALL_TAB_COLUMNS UCOL
    WHERE S.TABLE_OWNER = UCOL.OWNER
    AND S.TABLE_NAME = UCOL.TABLE_NAME
    and S.owner = 'REPORTING_TEST'
    and S.SYNONYM_NAME = 'OV_COMMERCIAL_ENTITY_JN'
    Replace the owner and table name with one of your own.
    If you take one of the DATA_TYPE's out the select is much faster.
    Why, I hear you ask, do you select the same column twice?
    Well, it's not me. It's BusinessObjects when it does a structure refresh it
    produces a statement similar to the one above except that one of the
    DATA_TYPE's is a SUBSTR + DECODE (however they in themselves
    have virtually no impact on the statement). I just find it weird that repeating
    a column twice can have such a dramatic impact on performance.
    I'm not a tuning expert and have looked at EXPLAIN PLAN outputs but can't
    make head nor tail of them.
    Thanks,
    Ruud

    Yes it's true that Oracle caches data but I did run both statements several times within the same session. Run statement 1, run statement 2, add 2nd column and run again, take column away and run again, etc. Always the results were the same. The query with duplicate columns ran in seconds, the one without in milliseconds.
    If it tells you anything, below both explain plans. The main difference that I noticed is the full table scan on USER$ for the first query. The second one (although a more elaborate execution plan) seems to use indexes more.
    Don't spend too much time on this. I've found a workaround where I create temporary tables for ALL_SYNONYMS and ALL_TAB_COLUMNS and re-direct the public synonyms to point at those. After I've done what I wanted to do with BusinessObjects, I restore the original public synonyms. Next thing I'll try is rebuilding my database from scratch and see if the problem is still there.
    Apologies if the listings come out in variable font (how do you paste fixed font?).

  • How to find the difference of two columns in deski

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a deski report which is build from a single query. The report contains two tables.
    Table-1:MTK Loc
               MTKnet
    Table-2:WTK Loc
                WTKnet
    Now i need to find the difference of the columns WTKnet and MTKnet.
    These two are report level variables.Their definitins are as  below:
    MTKnet:=Sum((<Fees Collected by Per Collected>) In Body) ForEach <vMTKLocation>
    WTKnet:=Sum((<Fees Collected by Per Collected>) In Body) ForEach <vWTKLocation>
    Where <Fees Collected by Per Collected> is universe variable.
    Please help...
    Thanks in Advance......

    Hi Bol,
    As I understand you are taking MTK_Loc and WTK_Loc together in  the report which have common values under Fees Collected by Per Collected  column.
    Please follow the steps mentioned below:
    1.  Calculate the Variables MTK_Net as
           =Sum(<Fees>) IN <MTK_Loc>
    2.  Calculate the Variables WTK_Net as
           =Sum(<Fees>) IN <WTK_Loc>
    3. You will get the values based on the Locations MTK_Loc and WTK_Loc .
    You are using combination of values for MTK_Loc and WTK_Loc hence you will get the variable values in combination.
    Insert new column right to the WTK_Net and  write the formula name it Variance.
    =<MTK_Net>- <WTK_Net>
    The values look like :
    MTK_Loc      WTK_Loc             MTK_Net                 WTK_Net             Variance
    Chicago           Chicago                16,696,274.43      157,168.26            16,539,106.17
    Chicago           Madison               16,696,274.43       274,396.12            16,421,878.31
    Chicago           Milvaki                 16,696,274.43       16,622,870.97       73,403.46
    Chicago           Pennsylvania        16,696,274.43        4,299.35               16,691,975.08
    Chicago           Waukesha             16,696,274.43        22,067.08             16,674,207.35
    Here you will see values for MTK_Net are repeated because these are based on the MTK_Loc which is same for all rows i.e. Chicago , same is the case with remaining values of MTK_Loc.
    We can not calculate variabnce based on the values like Canada,Pennsylvania for all values as these values come in combination of each other and as these are all connected columns WEBI groups  Measure data based on the Dimension  and variable columns associated with it.
    MTK_Loc   WTK_Loc          MTK_Net         WTK_Net          Variance.
    Chicago        Chicago           16696274.43        157168.26           16539106.17
    However you can compare the values based on the values  as :
    1. Drag and Drop MTK_Loc and MTK_Loc separately on the report.
    2. Drag and Drop WTK_Loc and WTK_Loc separately and put it on the report, Connect it to the columns MTK_Loc and MTK_Loc columns already dragged. Then you can compare the values
    MTK_Loc                MTK_Net                         WTK_LOC                    WTK_Net
    Chicago                    16,696,274.43                 Chicago                       157,168.26
    Madison                   315,705.91                       Madison                      274,396.12
    Manitowoc              362,632.50                        Manitowoc                  359,978.50
    Milvaki                    54,172.84                          Milvaki                       16,622,870.97
    Pennsylvania             2,966.56                           Pennsylvania               4,299.35
    Waukesha                 9,028.03                          Waukesha                      22,067.08
    Here I unchecked the option avoid duplicate row aggregation (select table-> format table) thatu2019s why it is showing all values as a  sum of all MTK_Net and WTK_Net values corresponding to Location values..
    Here we are using MTK_Loc and WTK_Loc separately and not connected because though values seems same but they are used in combination ( Chicago, Pennsylvania)  in 2 separate tables in DB hence we canu2019t synchronize them by liking these 2 location columns using 2 data providers.
    I Hope this is what you want....
    Thanks....

  • Date difference problem.....

    Hi,
    I am calculating the date difference with the Formula variables.
    My requirement is to find the rocords, where date difference is 0.
    , Means same date.
    But I am facing one problem while testing the query.
    If for the two date , if both the columns are not having any value,
    it contains # , and if I calculate the diffence of this,
    This is also coming as 0 in the Date difference column.
    Can somebody let me know how to rectify/avoid this situation?
    Thanks , Jeetu

    Hi Jeetu,
    According to your requirement, if record is there, there should be at leaset one date value say "Starting Date".
    If "ending date" value is blank, the formula returns a junk/garbage value.
    If both the date values are available, the formula returns the number of days corectly.
    But, both the date values are blank, there should not be any record in such case. If you see this case in your data base,
    that can be either wrong data record or you need to exclude such condition from your query.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

  • How to get two date difference in Day/hour/min/secs pl

    First of all,
    Hello to All, i am new to Oracle DB, but i have little experience in Other Database such as Sybase, sql server etc
    please kindly help me
    in DoctorChart table i have DocName,Id#,Citcotype,Medtype,AdmitDate,DischargeDate(both admitdate & Discharge date is date formatted columns)
    so how can i get the below differenceTime (which means Dischargedate-Admit Date in below format i.e, Day,Hours,Minutes,Seconds...)
    DoctorName, ID #, Citco type, MEDtype, DifferenceTime
    ========= === ======= ======= ===========
    Dr. KindaEmesko, 20045, Replace OutCard, ICH, 0 day 9 hours 11 minutes
    Dr. KindaEmesko, 20098, Replace OutCard, ICH, 1 day 2 hours 34 minutes
    Dr. KindaEmesko, 20678, Replace OutCard, ICH, 2 day 23 hours 52 minutes
    Dr. KindaEmesko, 20212, Replace OutCard, ICH, 4 day 1 hours 00 minutes

    Dr. KindaEmesko, 45678, Signature Overlay, Rest, 0 days 1 hours 29 minutes
    Same way how can i get the Average Time for the above result (without ID columns)
    DoctorName, Citco type, MEDtype, Avg DifferenceTime
    ========= === ======= ======= ===========
    Dr. KindaEmesko, Replace OutCard, ICH, 2 day 1 hours 00 minutes
    Dr. KindaEmesko, Replace OutCard, BED, 6 days 17 hours 15 minutes
    Dr. KindaEmesko, Signature Overlay, Rest, 0 days 2 hours 29 minutes
    Please just tell me how to get the two dates difference as day/hour/minute format
    as well as how to get avg ( two dates difference as day/hour/minute format)
    Please Help me
    Thanks in advance

    Well, instead of all these suggested manipulations you can simply use intervals. Oracle uses day as a unit in date arithmetic, so Dischargedate-Admit Date is number od days between two dates. Built-in function numtodsinterval can be used to convert it into interval. For example:
    SQL> with t as (
      2             select trunc(sysdate) - 2 Admit_Date,
      3                    sysdate            Discharge_Date
      4               from dual
      5            )
      6  select  numtodsinterval(Discharge_Date - Admit_Date,'DAY') Hospital_Stay
      7    from  t
      8  /
    HOSPITAL_STAY
    +000000002 00:01:08.000000000
    SQL>  SY.

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

    I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

    If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
    How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
    If that is not the case:
    Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
    Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
    ---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • How to display more than one data on the same page?

  • Is there a way to Insert Data into a Lookup Column Type on a SharePoint List Destination in SSIS?

    Greetings.
    I have successfully worked out inserting SQL data (2008 R2) into my 2010 SharePoint list (New, Update, Delete) by creating an SSIS Data Flow Task as outlined here:
    http://fsugeiger.blogspot.com/2010/01/synchronise-sql-table-with-sharepoint.html
    However, the problem I am running into is inserting data into the SharePoint Columns that are "Lookup" column types. I verified that all of the values I am copying from SQL into the SharePoint lookup column exist in the customn list it is pointing to. It
    is important to have this column be a lookup column as it links to another custom list that has many more columns of related information.
    I have read and re-read the SharePoint SSIS Adapters 2011.docx from
    http://sqlsrvintegrationsrv.codeplex.com/ and the only section that seems to apply is this:
    "Looking Up Values in a SharePoint List
    If you have to look up a value in a SharePoint list, you can use the Lookup transformation in your data flow, and use the SharePoint List source to load the lookup table. You may have to add a Derived Column transformation or a Script component that splits
    data in the lookup column on the ";#" delimiter to separate the ID value from the description.
    If you are replacing values in your data with the values that you look up in the list, then loading the changed data back into SharePoint, you only have to include the ID from the lookup column. SharePoint ignores the description if you include it."
    I am not sure if the above statement means that I should be passing the assocaited ID's other than the actual data into the SharePoint List destination. If that is the case, that will not really work as the lookup contains hundreds of rows. Not too mention
    I have several of these lookup column types pointing to several different lists.
    Any guidance in how I can put data into a SharePoint Lookup column type via Data Flow Task would be so much appreaciated.
    Thank you.
    My errors are:
    Error: 0x0 at Data Flow Task, SharePoint List Destination: Error on row ID="1": 0x1 - Unspecified error, such as too many items being updated at once (batch), or an invalid core field value.

    I have found a solution to my problem and thought I would share it here in case there are others who are struggling with the above scenario. If you have a better way, I would love to hear about it since my way is a bit tedious.
    In a nutshell, in order to have an SSIS package put data from an OLE DB Source into a SharePoint List Destination Lookup Column, you need to pass the ID of the value that is being looked up, not the value that is in the “master” OLE DB source.
    Rough explanation, OLE DB Source value for column “Approp” is “4005” --> SQL matches “4005” with the ID in the new lookup table (“4005” = ID “5” as defined in the SharePoint lookup list) --> “5” gets passed into SharePoint List destination lookup
    column --> SharePoint displays “4005” and successfully links to the lookup list.
    Funny thing (not really), the error(s) outlined in my original post are not related in getting data into a SharePoint Lookup column as I am now successful in getting data into the system but I am still getting the same above error(s). I think it has to do
    with the ID column in the SharePoint list destination. What I can’t seem to figure out is why since I am not linking any data to that ID column (at least on new records). I am however linking it on Update and Delete and the errors mentioned above disappear
    and things work well.
    There are three tasks that need to get done in order to get data from SQL into a SharePoint lookup column assuming you have already set up your SharePoint lookup lists:
    1. Create new lookup table(s) in SQL that has the IDs from the SharePoint Lookup list and the values coming from the “master” OLD DB Source. You can see the ID column in SharePoint by toggling it on in a view.
    2. Create a SQL command that JOINs all the databases and tables so that the ID is passed and not the value into the SharePoint lookup column
    3. Change the “Data access mode” to “SQL Command” instead of the “Table or view” in the OLE DB Source and paste your command into the “SQL command text:” area.
    Other helpful info is that you may also need to add additional columns in the new lookup tables in SQL for the scenarios when the data is not unique. You can see this two times in my SQL command example for Units and JobTitles:
    SELECT
    pps.SSNm,
    pps.file_updated,
    pps.Employee_id,
    /* pps.CheckDistNm,*/
    Check_Distribution_id = COALESCE( d.ID, 0 ),
    pps.Job_nbr,
    pps.SeqNm,
    pps.action_eff_dt,
    Fund_id = COALESCE( f.id, 0 ),
    Appropriation_id = COALESCE( ap.id, 0 ),
    ActionCode_id = COALESCE( ac.id, 0 ),
    SpecNumber_id = COALESCE( jt.ID, 0 ),
    pps.Employee_id,
    /* pps.Fund,
    pps.Approp,
    pps.Unit,*/
    Unit_id = COALESCE( u.ID, 0 ),
    PosNm,
    PosCode,
    pps.LastName,
    pps.FirstName,
    pps.MI
    FROM
    x_PPS.aReportVw.pps_screens_active AS pps
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.DistributionNumbers AS d ON
    pps.CheckDistNm = d.Check_Distribution
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Units AS u ON
    pps.Fund = u.Fund AND
    pps.Approp = u.Approp AND
    pps.Unit = u.Unit
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Appropriations AS ap ON
    pps.Approp = ap.Approp
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Funds AS f ON
    pps.Fund = f.Fund
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.ActionCodes AS ac ON
    pps.ActionCode = ac.ActionCode
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.JobTitles AS jt ON
    pps.SpecNm = jt.SpecNumber AND
    pps.JurisClass = jt.JurisClass

  • SSRS 2008 R2 - Dynamic header data stays the same when exporting

    Background:
    I have a SSRS 2008 R2 report with a single Tablix.
    The data is grouped by InvoiceID, with each appearing on a separate page.
    I'm displaying some of the detail data in the group header row using Expressions similar to the following:
    ="Invoice # "  & ReportItems!InvoiceID.Value"
    The data referred to by my ReportItems statements are all hidden in the detail row (Advanced Mode, the Hidden Value for the Static Row Group is set to false).
    Problem:
    When I Preview the report in Visual Studio, everything looks as it should - the dynamic header data changes correctly with each group.
    However, whenever I export the results (I've tried all the formats), the header data is the same for every group - its taking the values from the first group and using it in all the groups.
    I've copied the same expressions into my Totals row, and the data is correct when exported; its only happening in my header rows.
    Any help in resolving this is greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi Alex,
    According to your description, you have a header with expression contains ReportItems. Now you find it shows incorrect result when exporting to a file. Right?
    In Reporting Services, it has reported some similar issue that the ReportItem returns unexpected result when exporting.  In this scenario, since you just want to show the group name in each page as a header for detail rows. So you can make the
    detail rows group on the Group. Then delete the Group column but still keep the group. After that add a row above detail row (Out side of group) and put in "=Fields!InvoiceID.Value". Now it will show the corresponding Group name
    when you set page break between each group instance. We have tested this case in our local environment. Here are screenshots for your reference:

  • Date Difference in OBIEE

    Hi
    I have two date columns and I want one logical column which contains difference of those two DATE columns.
    But I found that we dont have any Date difference or Date Add functions in OBIEE Answers.
    Can anyone tell me any work around for the Date ADD/DIFF functions?
    Thanks

    Hi All,
    I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks. Please forgive me. When i process my cube i'm getting the error:
    Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 5.
    My question is when the error says column 5 (is it the column 5 in the DSV?) or is it the column 5 in the DIMENSION list?
    My next question is the DSV Query works perfectly fine , so why this error in cube? This is what i have in the query in DSV.
    Please need help. In the below query both the column 5 (ArEASSIGNED TO VENDOR) in the CUBE and underlying table have the same data type and length VARCHAR(4000). Why is the process failing still?

    1) compliancejoin, 2) mowingsector, 3) caseclosedflag, 4) casehasvendorinfo, 5) mowingstatus, 6) assignedtovendor.
    I see now that your subject line talks about column 6, but you say column 5 in body of your original post.
    I don't know anything about cubes, but apparently there is some mapping problem when you run it from SSAS. (I assume it is SSAS, a part of the product I'm entirely ignorant of.) I figured that if you had got tripped by the zero-based numbering, you
    might be staring on the wrong column.
