  • How to extract  different date format in text file

well, iam new for using regex api(regular expression), In my project i want to extract the different format of date from the text file... date format will be 3rd june 2004, 03-06-2004, june 3rd and so on....
can any body give me regular expression to extract the date from the text file...
    i will be very grateful..
    kareem

date format will be 3rd june 2004, 03-06-2004, june 3rd and so on....The only way to do this (without implementing a "mind reader") is to determine in advance all the possible date formats that are possible in your input, and try to interpret each date using each of those formats until one of them passes.
It's easy enough to handle june 3rd vs 3 june vs 3rd june, but 6/3 vs 3/6, of course, is ambiguous.

  • Change Date format to Text for Import

I have used Sql Server Integration Services to extract some data into Excel.  When I load the files it seems that not all the time the dates are formatted with the time.  If I format the field this just changes the display value and not the underlying
field value.  I have tried to copy the field into notepad, add a new field format this as text and then paste the desired format.  But this also does not
always work.  Is there an easy way to change the date/time value so it is always in a consistent format to import into another system?

    Hi SBolton,
If I understand correctly, you want to change a column from Date data type to Text while importing data to Excel.
If in this scenario, we can use Data Conversion Transformation or Derived Column Transformation to convert the original Date data type to Text data type, then use the new column maps to the corresponding Destination column.

  • Date Format in Text file

    Friends,
I am generating a file through some script and need to add the date in front of it. I used cmd command and created a batch file but the format is coming as test.txt_12272013 but it should be Test.txt_20131227
       (YYYYMMDD)
    ren c:\testt\testing.txt test_%date:~4,2%%date:~7,2%%date:~10,4%.txt
    Could you guys please help

Thank you Johnny. Actually I was looking for test_20121217.txt  (YYYYMMDD) format but i figured it out
below is the string i had to use to get the YYYYMMDD format through DOS prompt

  • Date format in Bex Output should be changed while using with Text Variable

I am using a Bex Query where have defined a Text Variable with replacement path. So whatever Date user enters in the selection screen variable (Input Variable) the same date appears in the report description.
For Ex: If user enters 30.04.2012 in Char Variable/Input Variable before executing the report, so once he executes the report the same date appears on report description like "ABC Analysis as on 20120430". Is also changes the report description whenever user changes the date in selection screen variable.
My requirement is......Date format should be come as 30.04.2012 (DD.MM.YYYY) instead of 20120430 (YYYYMMDD) in report description.
Guys could you please help me out to achieve the desired output.
    Rgds,
    Ritu

Please check if you have selected Replace with Key in that text variable.
Instead of that select External characteristic value key.
This should help you in giving the desired output.

  • Convert mm/dd/yyyy text format to date format

I imported a csv file and the date column is in text format.  How do I convert it from m/d/yyyy text format to yyyy-mm-dd DATE format in Numbers v 3.1?
Thanks for any help you can give!

UPDATE: I found that your formula didnt produce the correct result
It changed mm/dd/yyyy to yyyy/dd/mm — rather than the desired yyyy/mm/dd
By hacking at it, I found that changing the D column formulas around fixed this.
    Your original function:
    D2=RIGHT(A2,4)&"-"&MID(A2, B2+1, C2−B2−1)&"-"&LEFT(A2,B2−1)
    Changed:
    D2 =RIGHT(A2,4)&"-"&LEFT(A2,B2−1)&"-"&+MID(A2, B2+1, C2−B2−1)

  • Date and Time text format

Hello, I am working with a .csv file that i extracted from a SCADA. When I convert that file into excel 2013, all of the dates become unusable. It appears like the dates have become text. I have tried to convert the date columns into the date format from
the conversion wizard, leave them in the general format, but it stays the same.
The problem with the solutions I have found so far browsing the internet is that my date format appears like this: 06/06/2014 12:58:37 p.m., and no one has given any solution for this kind of format.
Another issue I am facing is that since it is a file extracted from a SCADA I have at least 5000 registers and the width of the file can go from A to AZ, where half of the columns are dates.
If anyone can help me with this, I would be very grateful

    Re:  a date or something
A number/date will align right in a cell.  If your "Date" aligns right then just change the cell number format to meet your needs.
If Excel is treating the cell contents as text (aligned left in cell) then...
It appears as if the punctuation (dots) in the "p.m." suffix makes Excel read the entry as text.
Removing all dots can be done using Edit/Replace or whatever it is called in xl2013.
That may be enought to change the entries to dates.  If not you then have to...
    1.   Change the number format of the cells to the appropriate date format.
    2.   Force the conversion of the cells to a number/date.
(enter 1 in an empty cell, copy the cell, select the data, use Paste Special (with the 'Multiply' option check marked)

I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

Yes, you can do all of that via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data, if you have Acrobat.
If you only have the free Reader then you can still do it, but it requires a script.

  • Regarding Date format in output text file

    Hi Frnds,
i am taking the data from vbak table into one internal table T_vbak, in that i am having vdatu field also, and after that using GUI_Download function module i am downloading that internal table data to one text file into presentation server.
But the date format is displaying in yyyymmdd format in the text file, but i want the format like mm/dd/yyyy in the text file, can anybody plz help me....

    Hey Bala,
You can use the following conversion routine for converting the date from yyyymmdd format into mm/dd/yyyy.
    data: l_date(10) type c.
    Loop at t_vbak into wa_vbak.
    CONCATENATE wa_vbak-vdatu4(2) wa_vbak-vdatu6(2) wa_vbak-vdatu(4) INTO l_date SEPARATED BY '/'.
    wa_vbak-vdatu = l_date.
    modify t_vbak from wa_vbak.
    Endloop.

    Chetan.

  • Excel date to Numbers text format troubles

I've been sent an Excel .xls document which I'm opening in Numbers '09 (2.1).
The spreadsheet has a date column which I need to be in text format as dd/mm/yyyy. I expected the original Excel document to have the dates already in text format but Numbers says the fields are 'Custom' and shows the dates in US format: 11/04/2011, even although my Mac is set to UK format. No matter, I can set the cells to text format, however that results in the date being shown as 04/11/00002011.
Where did those extra zeros in the year come from!?
How can I reformat the dates to the dd/mm/yyyy format as text?
I've tried a couple of formula to create a new column
    =Year(A1)
for example and I think I could recreate the date  like that, but the cell must be text format.

  • Date Format Mask with text only...

    Hi!
I have a problem with my date text item: the format mask is set to YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS and it work perfectly if the user enter only numeric character, it will validate the date correctly. But if the user enter a value only alpha (something like 'uuuuyyyy') instead of validate with the mask format it will fire an error trigger ORA-06502.
I want to know if it's possible to check if the user has enter only alpha to bypass this problem.
Also, how can a check that a date field is null. I Try with : IF :BLOCK_NAME.DATE_ITEM IS NULL THEN ...
AND ALSO with IF TO_CHAR(:BLOCK_NAME.DATE_ITEM) IS NULL THEN... and nothings seems to work.
    Thanx in advance.

AFAIK, the only way to do this is to have two items. One is a hidden database item, type DATETIME, to hold the date value.
The other is a non-database character item, visible to the user. You populate it at POST-QUERY from the database field, and use an ON-VALIDATE-ITEM to copy any value entered/changed by the user over to the hidden field. If you're smart, you'll write a library procedure to do the on-validate stuff, passing it the names of the two items.
In that procedure, you can attempt to convert the entered text into a valid date using whatever date format(s) you like, only raising an error if you can't do it at all.

  • Problem with date format from Oracle DB

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with date fields from Oracle DB sources. The date format of the field in DB table is 'Date base type is DATE and DDIC type is DATS'.
I mapped the date fields to Date characters in BI. Now the data that comes to PSA is in weird format. It shows like -0.PR.09-A
I have changing the field settings in DataSource  to internal and external and also i have tried mapping these date fields to text fields with out luck. All delivers the same format.
I have also tried using conversion routines like, CONVERSION_EXIT_IDATE_INPUT to change format. It also delivers me the same old result.
If anybody of you have any suggestions or if anybody have you experienced such probelms, Please share your experience with me.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all your reply. I can only the solutions creating view in database. I want some solution to be done in BI. I appreciate if some of you have idea in it.
    The issue again in detail
I am facing an issue with date fields from oracle data. The data that is sent from Oracle is in the format is -0.AR.04-M. I am able to convert this date in BI with conversion routine in BI into format 04-MAR-0.
The problem is,  I am getting data of length 10 (Output format) in the format -0.AR.04-M where the month is not in numericals. Since it is in text it is taking one character spacing more.
I have tried in different ways to convert and increased the length in BI, the result is same. I am wondering if we can change the date format in database.
I am in puzzle with the this date format. I have checked other Oracle DB connections data for date fields in BI, they get data in the format 20.081.031 which will allow to convert this in BI. Only from the system i am trying creating a problem.
