Date in OAF
Hi All,
I am working with Oaf 5.7h.
I have date field where the user enters date from the front end.
I am fetching that value in a date variable(object of java.lang.Date) in my AM by invoking its rowset(rowImpl.getDeparturedate),
my problem is that now i need to always do a validation by getting the previous day of the user entered date.
like user entered 07-June-07
i need to do the validation with 06-June-07.
i thot by always subtracting one from the user entered date i can get the desired date.
Butu how do i do that because the date eneterd from front end comes along with timestamp.
Pls any help would be great.
This should help

How to display the username and current date in OAF page Footer region
Hi,
I need to display the username and Current-Date in footer region.If anybody knows the procedure then please share with me.
Thanks
Divya AgarwalHi,
Read this Thread:--
You have to capture the UserName and Date in the Process Request Method of page Controller and invoke a method which will subsequently get and set the value in some attribute.
String userName = pageContext.getUserName();
How to populate Current Date and Time in OAF page through CO

Query for inserting data from OAF page to database table
I need to insert a row into a table by getting parameters from pageContext. The fields in this page are from multiple view objects and the data in these fields should be inserted into a table. If anyone can provide solution in this regard will be very much helpful.
Hi Rma,
My Understanding is...
Say you want to display information of 10 customers. Hence there will be 10 rows to display.
Say number 5 customer has maximum accounts 15 (In case there is variable number of accounts for each customer). Hence there will be max 15 columns.If the above under standing is correct, then a question...is there an upper limit on number of accounts for a customer?
If yes then I may say...
Create a custom table with that many columns as of max number of alloweed accounts.
Write a plsql api to insert column of existing table as row in the custom table.
Now base your EOs and VOs on that custom table. That may show columns in term of rows on your screen.
The logic is, instead of converting column data to row in oaf, do it in plsql.
Now again if it has to be updated by user, create a reverse api to put data from custom table to existing table.
However, this approach can lack automatic features on existing seeded table(like validations), provided by EO. Hence you must explore PL/SQL Entity objects in Dev guide before going with this approach (both are near same but you may be able to better judge which one will be more suitable for your need.
Another insant approach which strike in mind is just modifying logic in controller to modify bean hierarchy (adding columns at run time) or by create VO dynamically.
However, possibly that can put other complexities of personalization and maintainance of code etc.
Hence the suggestion is...Evaluate all three and judge which one is most suitable for you over all needs (First try with PL/SQL Base EOs Or with the above approach or pure java manipulation)
Seems too complex approaches all. Other users must pour there thoughts.

Convert java.sql.Date to oracle.jbo.domain.Date in oaf
Hi,
Need to dafault NeedBydate(i get in from query as below) to a messagelovinput and make it read only.
i am facing some issue in converting from java.sql.Date to oracle.jbo.domain.Date.
unable to figure out the problem.
below is the sample code im trying to use.
PreparedStatement ps=pageContext.createPreparedStatement("select sysdate from dual");
ResultSet rs=ps.executeQuery();
if (rs!=null && ps.next()
java.sql.Date sqlDate= rs.getDate(1);
oracle.jbo.domain.Date oracleDate = new oracle.jbo.domain.Date(sqlDate.getTime());
vorow.setAttribute("Datevalue",oracleDate);
this is my assumption : to set to UI i need date in format dd-Mon-yyyy.(am i correct? as to get that format i tried to use simple date format class but no use)
when i tried to use simple date format :unpaseable date exception was raised.
please guide.Hi,
Why are you using this code???
PreparedStatement ps=pageContext.createPreparedStatement("select sysdate from dual");
ResultSet rs=ps.executeQuery();
if (rs!=null && ps.next()
java.sql.Date sqlDate= rs.getDate(1);
oracle.jbo.domain.Date oracleDate = new oracle.jbo.domain.Date(sqlDate.getTime());
you can get sysdate using this and then set it
oracle.jbo.domain.Date currentDate = am.getOADBTransaction().getCurrentUserDate();
java.text.SimpleDateFormat displayDateFormat = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat ("yyyy-MM-dd");
String DateForm = displayDateFormat.format(currentDate.dateValue());
oracle.jbo.domain.Date dateset = new oracle.jbo.domain.Date(DateForm);
and then set the attribute
vorow.setAttribute("Datevalue",dateset);
Thanks,

Hi,
I attached procedure to the EOIMPVIEW.I am passing data through OAF page.If i pass data and click on APPLY button it is giving the error like:
No current row for View (CustDetailVO1)Just remember the data you save should be saved to a row in the VO. So you need to set the current row which would be updated (in case you see a single row data).
When you create a row you should also set the current row.
Row row = vo.createRow();
vo.insertRow(row);
vo.setCurrentRow(row); -
How to clear exception cache in VO when using OAAttrValException
I am using OAAttrValException to validate that individual required attributes are populated before a user can submit the page. The function i have in the VOImpl is as follows
public void validateRow() {
ArrayList exceptions = new ArrayList();
String address1 = (String)getCurrentRow().getAttribute("Address1");
String postCode = (String)getCurrentRow().getAttribute("PostalCode");
if (address1==null) {
MessageToken[] tokens = { new MessageToken("FIELD", address1) };
exceptions.add( new OAAttrValException(OAException.TYP_VIEW_OBJECT
, getViewObject().getFullName() // VO name
, getCurrentRow().getKey() // VO PKs
, "Address1" // Attribute Name
, address1 // Attribute value
, "XX" // Message product short name
, "NTZZ_CZ_ADDRESS_FIELD_REQUIRED"// Message name
, tokens)); // Message Parameters
if (postCode==null) {
MessageToken[] tokens = { new MessageToken("FIELD", postCode) };
exceptions.add( new OAAttrValException(OAException.TYP_VIEW_OBJECT
, getViewObject().getFullName() // VO name
, getCurrentRow().getKey() // VO PKs
, "PostalCode" // Attribute Name
, postCode // Attribute value
, "XX" // Message product short name
, "NTZZ_CZ_ADDRESS_FIELD_REQUIRED"// Message name
, tokens)); // Message Parameters
OAException.raiseBundledOAException(exceptions);
The problem is that every time you click submit it adds these exceptions to the list of exception already thrown i.e. it doesnt seem to clear the exceptions from the last submit, so the list of exception messages just gets longer and longer. Ideally I would like to flush these messages on submit but before I validate using something like clearAllExceptions() as in the EOImpl, but this method does not appear to be available in he VO.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can achieve this?
Thanks,
DannyDanny,
The simple and straight solution to your problem in that the row validation code you are writing is written in wrong file.VOIMpl file should only contain logic related to query manipulation of View Object. If you wanna do row validation at vo level, this code should go in VORowimpl file and not VOimpl file. In VORowimpl file BC4J framework provides a method called validate(), you can utilise that.The validate() method is automically called every time a post event has been generated.The method in turn invokes validate entity method in each of the entity objects involved in VO.
This validate method is called in process form data in OAF lifecycle. So this how your code should look like in VORowimpl :
public void validate()
super.validate();
ArrayList exceptions = new ArrayList();
String address1 = (String)getCurrentRow().getAttribute("Address1");
String postCode = (String)getCurrentRow().getAttribute("PostalCode");
if (address1==null) {
MessageToken[] tokens = { new MessageToken("FIELD", address1) };
exceptions.add( new OAAttrValException(OAException.TYP_VIEW_OBJECT
, getViewObject().getFullName() // VO name
, getCurrentRow().getKey() // VO PKs
, "Address1" // Attribute Name
, address1 // Attribute value
, "XX" // Message product short name
, "NTZZ_CZ_ADDRESS_FIELD_REQUIRED"// Message name
, tokens)); // Message Parameters
if (postCode==null) {
MessageToken[] tokens = { new MessageToken("FIELD", postCode) };
exceptions.add( new OAAttrValException(OAException.TYP_VIEW_OBJECT
, getViewObject().getFullName() // VO name
, getCurrentRow().getKey() // VO PKs
, "PostalCode" // Attribute Name
, postCode // Attribute value
, "XX" // Message product short name
, "NTZZ_CZ_ADDRESS_FIELD_REQUIRED"// Message name
, tokens)); // Message Parameters
OAException.raiseBundledOAException(exceptions);
Sumit,
Making Arraylist defined globally in VOimpl class would not solve the purpose, because in present code ArrayList has been initialized inside validateRow() method hence, everytime this method is called Arraylist is automatically initialized by new , but the errorstack is not cleared.This code should be at such a place where it should be automaticallyclear the last error stack when its called everytime in framework i.e. validate method in VOImpl or validateEntity method in EOImpl.
I hope this helps.

OAF Export button fetching data in one column - view object using union all
Dear All,
Export button showing data in one column from view object,
View object is based on mulitple queries with union all ,
Please let me know the solution for this issue.
Thanks
Maheswara RajuMaheswara Raju,
As per my understanding you are not able to export all the View Attribute using export Button. Only the attribute which is used with the item/region will get exported.
There are few work around in case if you want to export the column without showing on OAF Page. Let me know.
Cheers

To get date Parameter from an OAF page
Hi,
I want to get a date parameter from an OAF page and pass them to a query in Vo as binding variables.
How can that be done.
I tried this to get the date from my page but it gives an error when I pass it to the query-
String v_date = pageContext.getParameter("StartDate");My CO --------------------------
if( pageContext.getParameter("Submit") != null)
String userid = (new Integer(pageContext.getUserId())).toString();
String personid = (new Integer(pageContext.getEmployeeId())).toString();
String v_date = pageContext.getParameter("StartDate")+"";
String v_end_date = pageContext.getParameter("EndDate")+"";
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + userid);
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + personid);
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + v_date);
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + v_end_date);
Serializable[] params = {personid,v_date,v_end_date};
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
String empUserid = pageContext.getUserName();
System.out.println(pageContext.getUserName());
System.out.println("Calling initMoverQuery");
am.invokeMethod("initMoverQuery", params);
System.out.println("Call out of initMoverQuery");

Number personid = new Number(Integer.parseInt(pid));
System.out.println("user id"+ personid);
System.out.println("start date"+ sd);

MyvizhiHi Peddi,
I gave TRUNC to both of the dates. But still the same issue. I think the problem is in returning the BolbDomain.
return blobDomain;
} catch (XDOException xdoe) {
System.out.println("Exception in XDO :");
throw new OAException("Exception in XDO : "+xdoe.getMessage());
catch (SQLException sqle) {
System.out.println("Exception in SQL :");
throw new OAException("SQL Exception : "+sqle.getMessage());
catch (OAException e) {
System.out.println("Exception in OA :");
throw new OAException("Unexpected Error :: " +e.getMessage());

Error While Inserting Data into table using OAF
Hi Experts,
I am learning OAF; i am trying into insert the data into table using OAF. I followed the below procedure.
My table(OLF_TEST_TBL) Columns:
EmpID (Number), Ename(VARCHAR2 100), Sal Number, and who columns.
1. created Application Module (AM).
package: oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.server
name: oaf_test_tbl_am
2. created simple page
name:EmployeePG
package:oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.webui
3. Assigned the Application Module to Page
4. Created Entity Object(EO)
name:oaf_test_tbl_eo
package:oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.schema.server
schema:apps
table:OLF_TEST_TBL
note:
1. EMPID column is selected as primary key
2. selected create method, remove method and validation method.
3.checked generate default view object
VO:
name:olf_test_tbl_vo
note: Entity Object was assigned to VO
Coming To page:
page main region:EmployeeMainRN
1.under main region i created one more region using wizard
selected AM and VO, region style-default single column
2. under main region i created one more region
region style- pagebuttonbar, ID:pagebutoonsRN
3. under pagebuttonRN, created two submit buttons(ID:SUBMIT, ID:CANCEL).
In AM java page:
created a method to insert row and for commit.
Insert Method:
public void insertrow(){
OAViewObject vo=(OAViewObject)getoaf_test_tbl_vo1();
if(!vo.isPreparedForExecution()){
vo.executeQuery();
Row row=vo.createRow();
vo.insertRow(row);
row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
Commit Method:
public void savaDataTooaftesttable(){
getDBTransaction().commit();
In EmployeeMainRN, created a controller.
In this controller process request method, 'insertrow' method was called.
import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAApplicationModule;
public void processRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
if (!pageContext.isFormSubmission())
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
am.invokeMethod("insertrow");
To commit the transaction when SUBMIT button pressed, commit method was called in process form request method.
import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAViewObject;
public void processformRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
if (pageContext.getParameter("SUBMIT") != null)
am.invokemethod("savaDataTooaftesttable");
Error After clicking the submit button_
I ran the page, page was opened successfully. Once i enter data and click submit button, it's giving the following error.
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example). If the browser's navigation buttons were not used, this error could have been caused by coding mistakes in application code. Please check Supporting the Browser Back Button developer guide - View Object Primary Key Comparison section to review the primary causes of this error and correct the coding mistakes.
Cause:
The view object oaf_test_tbl_am.oaf_test_tbl_vo1700_oaf_test_tbl_vo1_practice_test_prc1_oracle_apps_mfg_simplepg_server_oaf_test_tbl_am.oaf_test_tbl_vo1 contained no record. The displayed records may have been deleted, or the current record for the view object may not have been properly initialized.
To proceed, please select the Home link at the top of the application page to return to the main menu. Then, access this page again using the application's navigation controls (menu, links, and so on) instead of using the browser's navigation controls like Back and Forward.
Experts, Kindly help me why i am getting this error.
Awating your replies.
Thanks in advance.If you dont want to create message. You can throw exception like below as well
throw new OAException("Emp Id is "+empId+" and employee name is "+empName, OAException.CONFIRMATION);Thanks

Stale Data Error in seeded OAF page
Hi All,
In my custom oaf page I used master-detail between two tables using PPR (with single selection radio button in master table). From time to time I get "Error: Stale Data ..."
Absolutely the same error I was able to reproduce in seeded oaf page (R12.1.2):
1. open OA Framework ToolBox Tutorial -> Sample Browser -> Partial Page Rendering (PPR)
2. expand Coordinate Master Detail Tables
3. select first record (Supplier Number 1) and wait when the page will be fully refreshed
4. VERY FAST select second and immediately third record.
After that I get:
Error: Stale Data
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
Cause:
The number of displayed records, 3, exceeds the actual number of records, 1, in view object SampleBrowserAM.SupplierSitesVO1. Some of the displayed records may have been deleted
Additional conditions:
1. Your connection to server should be "a little slowly" (in my case it's VPN). If apps server is in your local network you can get response very fast and will not get error. In this case repate 1-4 several times.
2. Browser - IE7 or IE8. In FireFox 3.6 works fine.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
SergeyHi
Are you using
if (!vo.isPreparedForExecution()) if (! vo.isPreparedForExecution ())
vo.executeQuery(); vo.executeQuery ();
for VOs in process request of base page!For detailed explanation on this look at this thread: for VOs in process request of base page.
Please refer this thread may be it help you out..

Stale Data error when invoking seeded OAF from a custom OAF page
Hi All,
We have a requirement in OAF where we have to open a Seeded OAF Page (Install Base) from our Custom Page. We are using the javascript function “openWindow()” to open the page in a new window. When we close the seeded page by clicking seeded page window using the Window-close button and then perform any event on the custom page, we get the Stale Data error as given below.
Error: Stale Data
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
Cause:
The number of displayed records, 2, exceeds the actual number of records, 1, in view object OwqAM.IKNCICOWQDetailVO1. Some of the displayed records may have been deleted.
Here is the part of code we have tried.
String destination = "/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id="+Func_Id+"&"+"resp_id="+Resp_id+"&"+"resp_appl_id="+Application_id+"&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US";
String testDest = "javascript:openWindow(top,'"+destination+"',null,{width:750, height:550},false,'document',null);void(0);";
OABodyBean bodyBean = (OABodyBean)pageContext.getRootWebBean();
bodyBean.setOnLoad(testDest);
Also this issue is encountered only when we open an OAF page in a new window. We also have a functionality where a JSP page is opened on similar lines, but above said navigations do not result in the same error.
If anyone has come across such a issue and have a resolution, please let me know. Any pointers would be of great help.
Thanks,
MrugeshHi,
We had tried passing RetainAM = Y and then bouncing apache. Still we were getting the same error.
We are not facing the STALE DATA issue when we invoke JSP page and oracle forms. It is only when we launch a seeded OAF page from our custom OAF page that we are getting this error.
Regards,
Mrugesh
