To get date Parameter from an OAF page

Hi,
I want to get a date parameter from an OAF page and pass them to a query in Vo as binding variables.
How can that be done.
I tried this to get the date from my page but it gives an error when I pass it to the query-
String v_date = pageContext.getParameter("StartDate");

My CO --------------------------
if( pageContext.getParameter("Submit") != null)
String userid = (new Integer(pageContext.getUserId())).toString();
String personid = (new Integer(pageContext.getEmployeeId())).toString();
String v_date = pageContext.getParameter("StartDate")+"";
String v_end_date = pageContext.getParameter("EndDate")+"";
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + userid);
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + personid);
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + v_date);
System.out.println("call to process request0 : " + v_end_date);
Serializable[] params = {personid,v_date,v_end_date};
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
String empUserid = pageContext.getUserName();
System.out.println(pageContext.getUserName());
System.out.println("Calling initMoverQuery");
am.invokeMethod("initMoverQuery", params);
System.out.println("Call out of initMoverQuery");

if (vorep == null)
MessageToken[] tokens = { new MessageToken("OBJECT_NAME", "EmployeeMoverRepVO1")};

  • Cannot get the parameter from a HTML page at the first time

    Hi everyone,
    I have a html page with <input name="username" ...>, and the submit action is a url to my JSF web application. In the start page of the JSF webapp, I use following code to get value of username.
    FacesContext facesContext = javax.faces.context.FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String userName = (String)facesContext.getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("username");
    However, I cannot get it at the first time. The strange thing is if i click "refresh" button, the value of username is shown up on my page.
    Why? and How to solve it?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    Are you putting this code in the public void preprocess() method?

  • How to get data back from an action ?

    Hello,
    Would it be possible to get data back from an action (out of the question EO_MESSAGE & ET_FAILED_KEY )?
    For example we got an order with order positions and we need a "function" to e.g. count all positions. Because of Performance the function should not be processed each time the order is changed, read or a position is added. Instead the function should be processed only if it was called explicitly.
    Is it possible to create a kind of action which is actually counting all entries and export the number of them?
    How to mark a parameter in is_parameters as exporting?
    Is this just done by (naming-) convention?
    What is the preferred way to have “methods” with returning/exporting values?
    Regards,
    Lorenz

    Hello Lorenz,
    As you have already figured out , the Action API provides you with only the messages and failed keys if any.
    Post action execution , you can always execute a retrieve or retrive by association , to get the latest buffer snapshot , which of course would include the changes that you have made in your action.
    If you want to ensure that users have explict control on execution of your "fucntion", then of course , you should model it as an action on the BO.
    The parameter is_parameters is an IMPORTING parameter. You CANNOT use it to export anything back from the action. For importing ,  you can of course have any structure to use as the is_paramaters , which you model as the action parameter structure which modelling your BO action.
    From an external entity the only way to interact with a BO is by consuming the BO services and you are bound by the BOBF standard interfaces. Any and all data you require needs to be modelled as node attributes ( persistent or transient ) and fetched using the RETRIEVE, RETRIEVE_BY_ASSOCIATION or QUERY services.

  • How to pass a date parameter from report builder query designer to oracle database

    i'm using report builder 3.0 connected to oracle database. i'm trying to pass a date parameter in the query with no success, i don't
    know the exact syntax. I've tried :
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date('01/01/2014','mm/dd/yyyy')
    it worked perfectly.
    However if i try to put a date parameter "From" instead of 01/01/2014 it will not work, a Define Query Parameter popup window appear and error occurred after i fill
    the values (usually i shouldnt get this popup i should enter the value when i run the report)
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date(:From,'mm/dd/yyyy')
    appreciate your assistance

    Hi Gorgo,
    According to your description, you have problem when in passing a parameter for running a Oracle Query. Right?
    Based on my knowledge, it use "&" as synax for parameter in Oracle, like we use "@" in SQL Server. In this scenario, maybe you can try '01/01/2014' when inputing in "From". We are not sure if there's any limitation for To_Date()
    function. For your self-testing, you can try the query in sqlplus/sql delveloper. Since your issue is related to Oracle query, we suggest you post this thread onto Oracle forum.

    After receive event, then call java script function "eventReceiver" and call "form.submit()".
    But .. PAI Logic in Java code doesn't called ...
    Where is my problme ?
    Help me ...
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hi Arnold,
    you should not do a form.submit yourself. Instead you can put a component called ExternalSubmit to your page:
    ExternalSubmit exSubmit = new ExternalSubmit("EX_SUBMIT"));
    exSubmit.setServerEventName("MyEvent");
    This results in a java script funtion on the page which is called "_htmlb_external_submit_". If you call this function the the form gets submitted and your event handler is called.

  • How do I raise a Business Event from a OAF page?

    Hello,
    I am developing a custom system using the OAF and need to raise a custom Business Event, which in turn will have a subscription to launch a workflow process.
    How do I raise a Business Event from a OAF page ?
    Can I use the classes in oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.* ?
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Andries Hanekom

    Hi,
    When I try to compile just the basic part of my class I receive the following error:
    Error(21,36): cannot access class javax.jms.TextMessage; file javax\jms\TextMessage.class not found
    Class Code:
    import oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.BusinessEvent;
    public class VscmsEvents
    public VscmsEvents()
    public static void main(String[] args)
    VscmsEvents vscmsEvents = new VscmsEvents();
    //Initialize BusinessEvent, Payload objects
    public void initEvent(String eventName, String eventKey, String eventData)
    //Create BusinessEvent Object
    BusinessEvent mEvent = new BusinessEvent(eventName, eventKey);
    Furthermore, when using the BusinessEvent object to raise the event I will need to provide the raise method with a java.sql.Connection parameter. In the context of a OAF page how will I perform this?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
    You can get it from "User" or "Shop" business object.
    Try to get User or Shop Business Object as shown below.
    BusinessObjectManager bom = (BusinessObjectManager) userSessionData.getBOM(BusinessObjectManager.ISACORE_BOM);
    User user = bom.getUser();
    char decimalNotation = user.getDecimalPointFormat().getGroupingSeparator();
    If you are seeing "1,234.00" then above code will return "."
    I hope this information help you to resolve your issue.

    A. Safwat,
    As I said before, I was not trying to be offensive, but simply to explain some of the shortcomings of one solution over another. One of the reasons people give such short answers is that many questions (including this one) have been asked and answered many many many times before on the forum. As to my reasons:
    1). Overkill - overkill because you are writing code to do what the framework already provides for you.
    2). Not bind-variable friendly - you are gluing in literals into a SQL statement. That means that Oracle will have to hard parse the query for each new value of the filter clause, yielding to poor performance, particularly in a multiuser environment. It should ideally be done using bind variables.
    3). Insecure (think about what happens if you put "'xyz' or 1=1" into the filterValue there) - not using bind variables is a security hole. Think through what happens if a filter criteria comes through like the one I mentioned.
    4). Inflexible - because you are overriding executeQueryForCollection, this VO becomes inflexible and can only be used in this particular place. Using the declarative approach outlined by Timo is more flexible
    5). Bad (ok, that's my opinion there) - OK, perhaps this was a bit offensive ;)
    Please don't take a critique of a post as offensive, as I assure you it was not intended to be in that spirit. As I mentioned, I greatly appreciate when people point out issues/problems/etc with my ideas, as that is the best way for me to learn. I have in the past written applications that were not bind-variable friendly, and I learned the downsides the hard way (system was horribly non-performant) - I wish someone had reviewed my approach and told me "bad idea" before the application made it into production.
    Respectfully,
    John

  • Passing date parameter from forms to report

    Hi,
    I'm using forms and reports 6i.
    I want to pass one date parameter from forms to reports.
    Using
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_FROM_DATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:FROM_DT);
    giving me error REP-0091- Invalid value for parameter 'P_FROM_DATE'
    This i think is because report expects date and here it is converted as varchar.
    Please help

    Hi Divya,
    Even I use this kind of statement
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_FROM_DATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:FROM_DT);and works fine for me.
    This i think is because report expects date and here it is converted as varchar
    Correct.
    Open the report in the builder and under Data Model -> User Parameters, Go to the Property Inspector of P_FROM_DATE. Under Parameter, set Datatype as Character instead of Date.
    Hope this should work. and tell me if it works(coz it wokred for me).

  • Is it possible to launch a form from an OAF page using OAF Personalization

    In R11, the Customer Standard form ARXCUDCI was customized to call a custom block from the Address screen. In R12 the customer standard form has become an OAF page. We have decided to create a custom form for the custom block using Oracle Developer. However we need a mechanism to call this custom form from the Customer Standard OAF page.
    My query is if it is possible to call a custom form from an OAF page using OAF personalization only (i.e. without directly customizing the code of the OAF page)
    Thanks
    Sanjay

    Dear Apurba,
    I have made some progress.
    I have open the Customers OAF Page, queried a customer, selected a site and opened it.
    Then chose Personalize "Account Site Address"
    There I added a Button on the Header Address level
    ID=XXTVL_LASSY_BUTTON
    Populated the Additional Text and Prompt properties.
    Also set Destination URI=form:SYSADMIN:SYSTEM_ADMINISTRATOR:STANDARD:FND_FNDMNMNU.
    The button is now showing in the address page, and when I click on it it opens the seeded Menu form.
    I now have to create the custom form and set Destination URI to the Custom Form.
    I am also aware how to add parameters to Destination URI.
    But could you let me know how to read the value from a OAF page form field and reference it in Destination URI.
    I need the value of PARTY_SITE_ID of the Address OAF page.
    Alternatively, the Site Number is displayed on the OAF page. If I can read it that will also do. I can use the Site Number in the custom form rather than PARTY_SITE_ID
    Thanks
    Sanjay
