Date & Time Disappears Under 10.5

Hi,
My brother has just set up his new 20" iMac. We have just discovered that when we connect to his Firewire ATMT external hard drive, the date & time disappear from the menubar at the top of the screen.
When we open the date & time system preferences and check the 'show in menubar' option, after a few seconds, the box unchecks itself. This only occurs when the hard drive is connected.
Has anybody experienced the same bug? This bug occurs in 10.5 and 10.5.1.
Any ideas of a fix?

  • Is the date/time in Milliseconds dependent on the underlying timezone

    Hi,
A Timestamp is received as an argument to a method. It is meant to be for the Time Zone "America/Los_Angeles".
The value of the Timestamp is "2001-06-06 10:10:10.1".
The JVM Time Zone is "America/New_York".
    The output of <Timestamp>.getTime() is
    991836610000
Then I change the default Time Zone to "America/Los_Angeles" and create a new Timestamp with a value of
"2001-06-06 10:10:10.1". The same as the above Timestamp.
    The output of <Timestamp>.getTime() is
    991847410000
If I create a new Timestamp object using the value of 991836610000 milliseconds when the default Time Zone is "America/Los_Angeles", the date/time that is given is
    "2001-06-06 07:10:10.1
The API for <Date>.getTime() states that "Returns the number of milliseconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 GMT represented by this Date object.". It doesn't mention that it is dependent on the Time Zone in which the Date object was created. Hence I was assuming that the same value will be returned irrespective of the Time Zone the Date object was created in. However it appears not to be so.
Is there a way to work with date/time objects without been influenced by the underlying default Time Zone? i.e without having to change the underlying Time Zone when working with objects created in one Time Zone and with a need to be applied to a different Time Zone?
    Thanks
    Harsha

As malcolm pointed out, the problem is that when you parse the date, a reference timezone must be used. If you don't explicitly specify a reference timezone, the default timezone will be used.
Is there a way to work with date/time objects without
been influenced by the underlying default Time Zone?
i.e without having to change the underlying Time Zone
when working with objects created in one Time Zone and
with a need to be applied to a different Time Zone?Make sure you specify which timezone the parsed time is in:
    String localTime = ...;
TimeZone localTimeZone = ...; // you presumably know this
DateFormat df = ...; // get a formatter for parsing your date
    df.setTimeZone(localTimeZone);
    Date date = df.parse(localTime);

  • How can we specify date time under History Tab of Imaging

    Hi
I am using Oracle Webcenter Imaging 11.1.1.5, when i search for a document and view it, under History tab i have following information available.
    Date and User
The date specifies the date when it was modified and user specifies UserName who modified it.
I want date time over there instead of date.
Can someone help me how to achieve this?

However, when I look at the execution plan, I see that the last predicate (to_number(answer) > 0) has been executed the first. Henceforth, it checks many rows first. Normally, 75 rows belong to 31/12/2012 as you see from the following. Can I specify the execution order?According to the execution plan, it will do a full scan of surveys using the predicate on insertdate to build the (presumably in-memory) hash table (hash based on survey_id) to do the joins (Step 2). Then, it does a full scan of the answers table using the question_uid and answer predicates (Step 3). For each row it finds that matches those predicate, it will prpobe the hash table created in step 2 using the hashed value of survey_seq_id. So, it is doing the insertdate predicate first.

No, it is an implicit type conversion. Your code says answer > 0, since the answer column is a varchar2 column, Oracle implicitly converts the answer column to a number to compare against the number on the right side of the comparison. Note that if something like 'A' ever becomes a valid answer, then this query will fail with ORA-01722: invalid number.
    >

Obviously "A"."ANSWER" is not a number colmun, problably varchar, so use something like
    A.ANSWER != "0"
    or
A.ANSWER > "0"Yes answer column is varchar2 but can you type A.ANSWER > "0" as a predicate? I mean, you can not varchar > varchar, can you?
Of course you can use inequality predicates on a varcahr column. Is the string A greater than the string B?
Based on the explain plan, your statistics might be a little off, not hugely so. The esitmates are at least in the right order of magnitude based on what you have posted so far.
What indexes, if any, are available on the two tables?

In iOS 7 there still is a Settings > General > Date and Time. Use it to correct your time or set it to Set Automatically.

  • Underlying RS Table :: Date & Time for Data Load Requests

    Dear SAP BW Community,
In BW 3.5, does anybody know the underlying "RS" table where I can check to see the earliest date & time which a data target was loaded, by providing the data target's technical name in SE16 ?
    Thanks!

OK, I've found the timestamp the data load requests in the table RSMONICDP.
To get the earliest data load for infoCube FRED, I'm going to Oracle via SQL*Plus, as follows:
    select to_char(min(TIMESTAMP)) from sapr3.RSMONICDP where ICUBE = 'FRED' ;

  • Changing date & time under eventlog

Would like to know how to adjust date & time settings in the eventlog view for my Cisco 1400 bridge. Tx!

There are two things going on here.
    1. When you change the capture date/time (Date Time Original), the change is immediately reflected in the EXIF portion of the Metadata panel in the Library module. Because this is a metadata change, the warning arrow appears on the thumbnail (if you have that set to show in the View Options)....and clicking on that arrow brings up the "Metadata changed, do you want to save to disk" dialog. Note that this happens when you do any kind of metadata change, not just changing the date/time. At that point you can either decide to write the metadata to disk, or not.....if you typically write your metadata changes to XMP I guess you'd say "Save", but if you don't then just ignore it. Of course if you say "Save" then Lightroom will do as requested and write the Metadata, if it's a DNG,JPEG,TIFF etc, the Metadata is written to the XMP section of the file header....but if it's a proprietary RAW then it's written to an XMP sidecar.
    2. The second thing is that if you have the option set in the Catalog Settings to write date/time changes into proprietary raw files, then the change that you make is reflected in the Raw file.....this is a different change to the XMP update.

  • Backing up an encrypted drive with Time Machine under Snow Leopard

In a nutshell, my question is “Can I back up an encrypted drive using Time Machine under Snow Leopard, and if so, how do I access its data from a previous day?”
I have a 1Tb USB drive connected to my MacBook, which runs Snow Leopard. The drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). This drive is included in the drives that Time Machine backs up. I used Disk Utility to create an encrypted drive on the USB drive (998Gb), also formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The encrypted drive is not on TimeMachine’s list of excluded files/drives.
When I go into Time Machine, I can see the USB drive and the encrypted drive in the side bar. I can access the files on the encrypted drive as long as I’m looking at how it stands now. But if I move backward in time, the encrypted drive is grayed out and inaccessible.  If I click on the USB drive, I get a window that tells me it is 75.9Gb in size, and nothing else is available to me.
When I open the back-up drive in Finder and navigate to Backups.backupdb > macbook name > some date and time, I see my MacBook’s hard drive and the USB drive. The encrypted drive is not shown. When I click on the USB drive, I see an entry for drivename.sparsebundle. When I click on that I’m prompted for the password for the encrypted drive. When I enter it, I get a warning telling me that the disk image could not be opened and that the encrypted drive has no mountable file systems.
Is my encrypted drive really be backed-up and if so, how do I access the backed-up data?

Having received a bunch of views but no replies over the last 5 days, I decided to venture into my local Apple store and ask this same question. The response I got from the geniuses was that you can't get a reliable back-up of an encrypted drive using Time Machine under Snow Leopard. So, my only alternative is to copy the encrypted drive's contents elsewhere, unencrypt the drive, and then copy the contents back. This is what I expected, but not what I wanted to hear.

  • SSRS parameter date/time properties

    Hello,
I wanted to see if someone could help me with a SSRS parameter issue.
I’m using parameters to create user defined @BeginDate and @EndDate for the report.
I’m formatting the parameter properties as a Date/Time format to get calendar controls in the report.
The problem I’m having is the ‘date field’ in underlying data set is formatted as (char(8), not null).
I believe this is causing problems with the Date/Time format in SSRS parameter properties.
The data field would look like this 20500401.
Is there any way that someone could show me how to format my @BeginDate and @EndDate in my dataset query to work with the SSRS parameter properties Date/Time format?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    x

    Hi Tracy,
The dates aren't field that are in my SSRS dataset.  They filters in query though
Originally my query was before I added parameters:
    ...Where TRANS_DATE between '20140101' and '20140331'
    After adding parameters:
    ....Where TRANS_DATE between @BeginDate and @EndDate
Is there anyway that I could convert the TRANS_DATE field in my dataset query to work with SSRS Date/Time format instead?
If I was returning the TRANS_DATE field in my dataset I think I could use your expression in the filter.
    Thanks,
    x

  • Always used 1 main account.  Started using individual user accounts. So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account?

I recently upgraded our family's mac to OS X.  I thought this was the perfect time to create and use "user accounts".  We had always used 1 main account.  So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account?  I wanted to be able to manage my own itunes library, iphone apps, messages.  But I still really need to use the Stuff I have in Quicken essentials.  I don't want to have to restart all my work done in Quicken already.

I haven't used Quicken in a while, but most applications store your files in your Documents folder. Is that where your Quicken data file is? What you do next depends on how many family members need to get at that data.
If multiple family members need to use the Quicken data file, try moving it to the Documents folder in the Shared account. That is an account that all accounts can see. It's at the same level as the other accounts. In other words, Shared is one level up from your Home account, or Hard Drive/Users/Shared.
If you're the only one allowed to see that Quicken data, move the Quicken data file from the old main account to your account, and don't leave a copy behind. You can use the Shared folder as a way station for the transfer since you won't be able to see both accounts' Documents folders at the same time (because you're not allowed to peek into other people's accounts). Or you can use another disk or server for the transfer, as long as you can get to it when logged into either account.

  • Aperture 3.2: renaming based on date/time doesn't work properly

While importing I rename my photos based on the date/time they were taken.
In Aperture 3.1.3 this worked perfectly fine; for photos taken within the same second Aperture added an index number for the second, third etc. photo automatically.
In Aperture 3.2 this doesn't work any longer; Aperture simply doesn't import photo number 2, 3 etc. of that particular one second.
Note: I store the original files outside the aperture library, all run under snow leopard on an iMac i7. And as I said this worked fine under 3.1.
    Does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks all for the response
Leonie, here are the details of what I do/experience:
    a) Aperture message after import
    b) I import pairs and rename them as follows “IMG_{Image Date}_{Image_Time}” (I know all the disadvantages of this but old habits are hard to break… and for me it still works fine)
    c) Difference of the images that are imported / not imported is solely the hundredth of the second when they were taken. Of my test series only the first image has been imported:
    DSC_4903.jpg(2011/10/19 22:49:50.08)
    DSC_4904.jpg(2011/10/19 22:49:50.25)
    DSC_4905.jpg(2011/10/19 22:49:50.43)
    DSC_4906.jpg(2011/10/19 22:49:50.60)
    DSC_4907.jpg(2011/10/19 22:49:50.80)
    d) I import via the import panel: Import in new project – storefiles in particular folder (not Aperture library) – subfolder ‘imageyear/month” – rename as described above – import both
Doug, after some trial and error I agree with your thoughts, Aperture apparently simply lost its automatic indexes ‘-1’, ‘-2’ etc. and – what is good - doesn’t overwrite the first with the second and the third image... As you suggest there are different options to make the images unique. Most simple would be to add {index #} or {sequence #} or {counter}, all would do and I probably will choose one of them. Or I will downgrade back to 3.1.3 (do have backups) and wait until Apple fixes this.
Kirby, turnoff “Don’t import duplicates” was a good idea but didn’t solve it. But your naming convention actually ensures the uniqueness of the files.

  • How to identify date & time of insertion of rows in a table

sorry for the confusion. I dont want to store date and time. I said that for example only.
I have table which consists of thousands of rows. I want to know the insertion date & time of a particular row.
Is it possible? So, if I have a table that stores a load of employee numbers, do you think I could get the database to tell me their names?
If you don't store the information, you can't query the information.
Ok, there are some dribbs and drabbs of information available from the back end of the database via the SCN's, Archive Logs etc., but those sort of things disappear or get overwritten as time goes by. The only way to know the information it to ensure you store it in the first place.
So, in answer to your question, No, there isn't a true and reliable way to get the data/time that rows were inserted into the table, unless you have chosen to store it alongside the data.

  • How do I add to the list of servers in 'Date & Time' System Preferences?

Earlier versions of the Mac OS (9 and below, I believe) allowed a user to add to the list of time servers in what was then the Date and Time Control Panel. Now, under OS X (Tiger), I am able to select from the three servers that Apple provides, but I would like to add my own. I am able to paste a new one into the field of the 'Date & Time' preference pane, but it will not be permanently added to the list. There must be a way to do this, no?
    Thanks!

it will not be permanently added to the list.
It should stay there as long as you don't change it.

  • IPhoto, sort by date is not a true date/time sort

In iPhoto, sort by date is not a true date/time sort.  If you have two cameras with there own naming convention iPhoto sorts filename by date separating the two cameras in the view. Is there a way to sort by DATE&TIME ONLY?

Using two cameras using iPhoto to upload pictures.
Both cameras are set to the correct time and date.
    Connect camera ONE filenames IMGP0101
    By default:
    No event name
    Split events checked
    Select import 12 photos
    Creates events:
    Untitled event December 27, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 28, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 29, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 30, 2013
    Connect camera TWO filenames IMG_1101
    By default:
    No event name
    Split events checked
    Select import 12 photos
    Creates events:
    Untitled event December 28, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 29, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 30, 2013
Now I have 2 events for each of December 28, 29 and 30 they are not all under the same event name. My only option is to click and drag the pictures from the second set of events to the first set of events then they are in order.  This is a real pain to do.  There needs to be a way to reset the event dates so all pictures from both cameras end up in the right event date.
