  • Recent update of Firefox now it won't open or start!

Hi, When firefox opened, it updated automatically so I'm not sure what version I have now but after update, it won't open or start again. There's no error message or anything. Just won't open! I download and reinstalled firefox 3.6 over it but it still won't open. Help please!
PS. I found an article here about what to do when firefox opens here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/releases/fix-extensions.html. I went to Profiles folder and change the chrome folder to chrome-backup but still won't open.

Wow, still no help... anyways, firefox works for me now.. I downloaded an older version here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    Firefox 3.5 works.
Finally able to use Firefox but will turn off automatic update from now on!

  • Tiger won't let me start up from OS9.2 CD to install it?

Good afternoon! I have Tiger 10.4 and I need to install 9.2.1 to run some of my apps but when I restart with the OS9 CD in, holding down the C key, it still won't let me start up from the OS 9.2.1 CD? Any suggestions?

Tiger has nothing to do with it.
Which PowerBook G4 do you have? Many of them will NOT boot into OS 9. See KB 86209, Macintosh: Some Computers Only Start Up in Mac OS X. Any Macs listed in that KB article (and later Macs) won't boot OS 9.

Sounds like it is time to take it back to Apple and ask them to repair it for you.

HP Mini (Vivienne Tam model)  won't boot or start.  Your help is greatly appreciated. Please help. Thanks!

    Hi PPBlake,
Took a look around to see if there was any information on that error, and found a few things for you. Most of the steps are for Vista and Windows 7 - if you have a different OS loaded on that Mini, please post back anytime to let me know.
Quote from "Testing for Hardware Failures":  3F0: This indicates a potential problem with the hard drive. Please run the hard drive test.  See Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS for more information.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes

Yes, however you would be much better backing it up to iTunes to do this rather than iCloud.

  • My iMac G5 won't continue the start-up process

My iMac G5 won't continue the start-up process, it goes through the gray screen with the Apple to the blue screen after a short while the fans go on and it goes no further.
I'm not sure what to do at this point.

There are a number of things to try:
    Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    Resetting the PRAM
    Resetting the SMU
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
It's possible your logic board has failed, you can also run Apple Hardware Test which should be either on your install disc #1 or #2, hold down the D key to run it.
    Please post back with results,

  • Why won't my iMac start up after I put my password in. It just stops on the screen with the apple logo

I turned on my iMac today running Lion and typed in my password and it went to the gray screen with the apple logo and a little wheel spinning below it and won't go any further. Ive tried the Pram reset with cmd alt r p. no help. Ive tried a safe boot. No help. I've unpluged everything to it and unpluged the iMac itself. No help. One other thing I wanna try but I don't think I can is starting with the install cd. But oh wait, lion was a download only. So I don't have a disk. I have a snow leopard install disk. I put that in just so I can get to my disk utility.  When I got there I saw that my HD drive was not mounted and it wont let me repair it. I'm thinking this has to do with using the snow leopard cd. Maybe it will show mounted if I tried a lion cd that I don't have. Any ideas????

Please read Apple's Gray screen appears during startup, you have performed some of the troubleshooting steps however I'd recommend starting over from the beginning of the advice letter and following the instructions to the letter.

  • Computer won't go into "Start-Up Manager" mode

This regards my iMac, 21" model 1.25gHz PPC G4, 2 GbRAM, 160GB HD. OSX 10.4.11
I have several Macs, and have been using CCC for years to make bootable clones on fire wire external hard drives. For some weird reason, now this machine will not go into "Start Up Manager" mode upon starting. Under normal use, this machine "sees" my external FW drive, and if I go to "Start-Up Disk" in the prefs, and select my clone, this machine will start up fine using the clone. But this machine will not go into "Start-up Manager" mode when I hold down the Option key upon fresh start up.

I tried to boot in "Open Firmware Mode" as suggested by the Apple Help Topic (command-option-o-f) and still no go. I did replace the hard drive with a larger one after I bought it, so I'm guessing that perhaps I have the jumpers installed incorrectly, that is interfering with any start-up options being made available to me.
The computer works fine, I did test my clone by selecting it in the System Prefs>>Startup Disk (it just won't boot). So if I have a boot drive failure, all I need to do is open the unit up and replace the physical drive with the clone to get back in operation. It's a real pain getting to the drive in this unit and I don't want to have to do it again unless absolutely necessary.
