DB2 V.9.5.2 write/read times st04 pufferpools

Dear colleagues,
we are running an ERP 2005 on AIX 5.3 TL8, DB2 V9.5.2, filesystem caching off. I want to get a feeling, what are good answer times in st04, pufferpools, physical read and write times. I know, that these times depends on several factors. But in general, what would you say is a average/good answer time?
Under 10ms for read time and under 5ms for write time?
Regards,
Alexander

When discussing with our performance experts, I am told that write times should be around 2-3 ms, or lower. Read times not higher than 4ms.

  • In sequence for write/read, value of wait time?

    I made a sequence for write then read on a serial port.
    Sometimes, the read string is not the entire one.
    I put some wait time of 500ms in write sequence and wait time of 500ms in read sequence. Could it be the problem ?Is it possible to change the buffer size ?

    Hi,
    The buffer size is limited by the port itself. Consequently there really is no way to increase its size. Are you using VISA or the old serial VI's? One thing you may want to try is making your read time half the time of the write sequence. Also make sure that flow cotrol is working. With flow ctrl, you should never lose any information.
    Hope this helps out.

  • Write/read image to avi file, VI works incorrectly from the second run

    Hi everybody, in my labview I write image from IMAQ USB to avi file and read image from avi file, the VI runs correctly at the first run then after that it goes wrong, I can write/read only one frame and it terminates automatically. Does anybody know why and how to solve this?
    Thanks a lot,
    Hannah

    Without seeing your code I can't comment specifically, but if it runs correctly the first time and then stops be looking for something that is not getting reinitialized correctly. Also what exactly do you have to do to get it to work again? Close and reopen the VI? Restart LV? Restart the computer?

  • I2C Write/Read Error

    Error -301742 occurred at NI-845x I2C Write Read.vi
    "Possible reason(s):NI-845x:  The slave did not acknowledge an address+direction byte transmitted by the I2C master. Reasons include the incorrect address set in the I2C configuration or the incorrect use of the 7-bit address. When entering an address to access a 7-bit device, do not include the direction bit. The NI-845x Basic I2C API internally sets the direction bit to the correct value, depending on the function (write or read). If your datasheet specfies the 7-bit device address as a byte, discard the direction bit (bit 0) and right-shift the byte value by one to create the 7-bit address."
    We have connected the pull up resistors on the SDA and SCL line.
    The error seems to be strange in our case,
    We have two setup
    1. Using a push button to power the device and wires through the pull up resistor.
    2. We are trying to communicate using a NI 2569 for the SDA and SLC and the Power supply to the device.
    We do not observe the error in case 1,however, in case 2 we do observe,attached are the waveform pics for the same.
    Noted that we have the clock signal rise delay in case 2, is this because of the relay 2569?
    Any help will be highly appreciated.

    I don't quite understand your setup, and I'm not sure what I'm looking at with the figures you posted. What does the 2569 have to do with the 8451? You also said
    1. Using a push button to power the device and wires through the pull up resistor.
    I have no idea what this means.
    It's hard to tell from the pictures, but for the Case 1 figure, it appears that you are generating a correct start condition. It's also indicating that are sending a read transaction. You didn't indicate what device you're talking to, so we can't say for sure if this is correct.
    In the second case it also appears that you generating a correct start condition. The slow rise times that you are seeing in the clock is probably due to extra capacitance on the bus, or weak pullups, or both. This transaction appears to be a write transaction, but with no data.
    At this point, without knowing what device you're talking to, a better explanation of your setup, and the code itself, I'm not sure how much help we can be.

    Hello Simon,
    these forums are user-to-user. The Fire E25K is definetely beyond the scope of these forums (too expensive, too critical for your business, too complex).
    This system should be under Spectrum coverage (Platinum/Gold).
    Open a service case !
    Let's if you get any response to your posting on the Sun Managers mailing list.

  • Prologix LabVIEW write/read error

    Hello,
    I am a student/research assistant working on a LabVIEW program that was passed on to me from another student. I am not sure what happened between taht time and now but I am having problems with a write/read step from a Prologix GPIB. I have attached the vi code as well as several screen shots. I have checked the read/write module without running the program and I get a green arrow but still get a error code. After running the program, I get an error that is visible in the block diagram. I am really not sure what to do about this. By the way, I am taking measurements from a Homodyne setup. I will appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you for your time.

  • Write / read files to RAM memory

    Dear all,
    I want to write a text file to RAM memory and after read it from RAM memory.
    Why? Because, I want to read my text files quickly, in short time.
    if I use default method for reading files it take long time for reading the file and for write the file.
    But, if I use write / read files to RAM memory, I can read my files quickly and read my files from RAM for processing and write my files to HDD.
    Can you help me?
    I searched on the Internet this problem and I did not find any one solution.
    From my searching on the Internet, I understand that Java can not do that.

    The problem with this program is that it load 1 minutes, but I want to load a second.
    Here is my java code:
    import java.io.*;
    public class File {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    // Start to reading the file
          try{
        FileInputStream fstream1 = new FileInputStream("big.txt");
        DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(fstream1);
            BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in));
        String strLine;
        while ((strLine = br.readLine()) != null)   {
    // Start to replacing method
        String strreplace = "%";
        String result = strLine.replaceAll("a", strreplace);
    // End of replacing method
    // Start to writing to file
          try{
        FileWriter fstream2 = new FileWriter("out.txt", true);
            BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(fstream2);
        out.write(result); // Write to file the result
        out.close();
        }catch (Exception e){
          System.err.println("Error: " + e.getMessage());
    // End of writing to file
        in.close();
        }catch (Exception e){
          System.err.println("Error: " + e.getMessage());
    // End of reading from file
    } // Here is the end...Please to do the following steps:
    1. Copy my code;
    2. Download text file from: [http://norvig.com/big.txt|http://norvig.com/big.txt]
    3. Open the text editor and select all text (Ctr+A) and dublicate the text 10 times for creating a big text file (30-40 MB);
    4. As a java developer, You know what to do next.
    I'm waiting your solution.

  • Routine to read time dependent master data

    Hi Experts,
    I got a requirement, where I have to read time dependent Master Data.
    I need to write a field level Routine on "DEPTID" and to read from EMPLOYEE Master and Dateto=31.12.9999. I need to get last department ID for each employee.
    Below are Source fields mapped to target InfoObjects in my transformation.
    EMPID            mapped to  0EMPLOYEE
    STARTDATE mapped to  0DATEFROM
    ENDDATE      mapped to  0DATETO
    EMPID            mapped to  DEPTID
    Could any one please help out with the abap code to fulfil the above requirement?
    Appreciate for your quick response.

    Cris,If you follow the approach given above will also give you the latest dept id only.I would suggest to give this a try in dev system with some test data and see if that works or not.
    Still if you feel that code has to be written then map end date and dept id to the dept id.
    Code should be something like this:
    IF source_fields-enddate = '99991231'.
    Result = deptid.

  • Write/ Read Keys problem

    hi all,
    I am looking for your advise for the attached vi for writing/ reading keys.
    Facing problem:
    Since the input/ output is of cluster of mixed control types, I am having problem to write & read all settings correctly. I am sure that I must have missed out something IMPORTANT
    I have tried indexing "TypeDesc" to Variant's "Type" input as well as Fixed it DBL/ I32. However, both methods do not seem working well. I am still having problems with "Use Dirty Transmitter"(Boolean) and "arrays" types.
    Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

    Hi Ian.f,
    I always welcome the chance to help a fellow enthusiast. Unfortunetly I think I will be of limited use.
    First let me say that the best resource to answer this question is probably Jeane-Piere Drolet becuase I think he has cracked this nut in some of his code from "OpenG".
    That being said, let me do what I can for now. There are a number of issues that are hitting you. First is the arrays. You are currently reading them as a variant and attempting to convert (this is where Jeane-Piere may be able to help). The data is coming to you as a variant because the array of refnums for the cluster are generic types that handle all data types. If you use a "to more specific" node you can convert these nodes to the actual class of data used. The complication them becomes "which tpye do I convert which ref to?" Agian I think Jeane-Piere has got this figured.
    I have accomplished what you appear to be attempting in a more specific fashion. I will try to outline my approach below.
    1) Make the cluster a strict type def. My appraoch usese the same cluster in more than one place and this will simplify support.
    2) Instead of using refnums to the individual cluster elements, use a refnum for the entire cluster.
    3) When trying to update the cluster, update the ENTIRE cluster. I have not figured out how to update just a part of a cluster using control refs.
    4) When trying to save use a "unbundle" by name to break-out your parts and save them as required for each type.
    5) For the arrays I will create a new section for each array. In that section I will have at minimum a field called "number_of elements" or similar. This filed will get the array length. If there are elements in the array, I will start writing them as "element1",..
    This gives me enough data to put things back together at restore time.
    I am curious how you end up solving this challenge. I have successfully written code that will automatically locate all of the controls and indicators on the front panel of a VI of my choosing and save/restore them from file BUT, it does not support the complex data types like clusters and arrays. I still have to do these explicitely.
    I will watch this question to see if I can help or learn more.

  • Function modules to read Time clusters B1 and B2 from PCL1 and PCL2

    Hi All
    Are there any function modules or macros to read time clusters B1 & B2?
    I want to read time data in the clusters for reporting purpose.
    Regards,

    You can also call the FM HR_TIME_RESULTS_GET and get the exact cluster you need from B2 like WPBP, ZE, SALDO etc.
    Otherwise if you want to use the older FM declare the GET_TBUFF and GET_BUFFER_DIR as of below structure.
    DATA: BEGIN OF TBUFF OCCURS 5000.                           "XPMK014785
            INCLUDE STRUCTURE PCL1.

  • Extremely long "reading" times in media browser

    We are running CC2014 on 3 edit systems with a shared 10Gbit 36TB Synology NAS.  Each workstation has approximately 12TB of local raid storage as well. We shoot P2 primarily and I have a little over 17TB archived on the Synology.  Lately, we have had extremely long "reading" times in Media Browser on all the machines.  I don't quite understand how Premiere is indexing and displaying as sometimes the "reading" time is relatively quick, ie. under 10 seconds and then other times it can take 3-5 minutes to display clips within a directory.
    My Directory Structure is:
    Media
         P2 footage
              (P2 folders/ie. cards are all saved with their shoot dates here)
              Our total archive of P2 footage is around 70 cards.
    It appears that when Media Browser is pointed to a P2 Card folder it is indexing the entire "P2 footage directory, ie. all 70 cards", rather than just the individual folder containing 1 P2 card's footage. Ist this the case?
    Would I get better read speeds in Media Browser if I organized my P2 footage into more directories, ie. by year and quarter or by year and month?
    Really need to know how the indexing works.  Does premiere cache preview files for each clip and if so, how long are these previews valid.  It seems that when I media browse a new P2 Card/Folder, it has forgotten any previous preview files that have been made and cached.
    Any explanation or help would be appreciated.
    We have copied large numbers of cards/folders from the Synology to our local raids to see if the latency was due to the network but the results are the same when we media browse on the local raid copies.

    We are working on this issue. Could you open a support case and submit your
    project so we can have support see if it is fixed in a later release?

    Is there some validation options that can be turned off or other actions to speed this up?

  • Read time of tdm file increases

    Hello,
    I recently recorded a lot of data in tdm format. I originally saved it in an excessively organised and complex way which resulted in large header files and was very slow. I changed it and most of the data is fine, except 6 files in the old format. Just trying to read them to get the data out and then convert it into an easier format is taking far too long. Each file has ~15000 channel groups, each with 3 channels (I won't do this again...). I have witten a small vi to test the reading speed. Excluding opening and closing of the file, if I just find a channel group by name, reading one channel from that group takes about 1 second. This would still take days to read it all but would be acceptable. The strange thing is, is that if I do this in a loop for successive channel groups which is clearly necessary, it takes longer and longer each iteration. This is behaviour that I have always seen when reading tdm files, but it hasn't caused a serious problem before. I can't find any information about why though, so I hope I'm just doing something stupid. I have attached the speed testing vi (Labview 2010). Running it for 5 iterations, the time taken to read the channels is
    0.82304 s
    1.58809 s
    2.42514 s
    3.56820 s
    5.60632 s
    The channels it is reading all have the same number of values, and it makes no difference if I start at a different channel group (by adding a number to i in the loop).
    Does anyone have any explanation for this behaviour?
    Thank you very much for your help, and I'm sorry if it's something tht has been asked before,

    TDMS is an all binary format whereas TDM posses an XML header, otherwise they are very similar. Being a binary format you would expect it to read faster especially as you mentioned that the header was complex.
    There are a number of un-closed references in your code and I wonder if this was partly the issue, although this wouldn't explain why converting to TDMS fixed the problem?
    Beyond that, it would be nice to try this without using the express VIs to see if the problem still occurs.
    Also, where you able to see if this was a memory issue? And if the read time continued to increase beyond what you posted?
    Anyway, I am glad we found a solution to your problem.

  • User to write/read in file folder

    Ask the target-folder admins to provide full access to a user and then use this user in your channel.....user should have 777 access.... in UNIX it is done through chmod 777 ..... for exact notation/ format just make a search on google (the folder-admins would be knowing the format)
